In this paper we study the $J/Ψp$ spectroscopy in the process of $Λ_b\to J/Ψp K^-$. The final state interactions of coupled channel $J/Ψp$ ~-~ $\bar{D} Σ_c$~-~$\bar{D}^{*} Σ_c$ are constructed based on K-matrix with the Chew-Mandelstam function. We build the $Λ_b\to J/Ψp K^-$ amplitude according to the Au-Morgan-Pennington method. The event shape is fitted and the decay width of $Λ_b\to J/Ψp K^-$ is used to constrain the parameters, too. With the amplitudes we extract out the poles and their residues. Our amplitude and pole analysis suggest that the $P_c(4312)$ should be $\bar{D}Σ_c$ molecule, the $P_c(4440)$ could be an S-wave compact pentaquark state, and the structure around $P_c(4457)$ is caused by the cusp effect. The future experimental measurement of the decays of $Λ_b\to \bar{D}Σ_c K^-$ and $Λ_b\to \bar{D}^*Σ_c K^-$ would further help to study the nature of these resonances.
We show how complex resonance poles and threshold energies for systems in hadron physics can be accurately obtained by using a method based on the Padé-approximant which was recently developed for the calculation of resonance poles for atomic and molecular auto-ionization systems. The main advantage of this method is the ability to calculate the resonance poles and threshold energies from \emph{real} spectral data. In order to demonstrate the capabilities of this method we apply it here to an analytical model as well as to experimental data for the squared modulus of the vector pion form facto…
We give the first estimate of charmless scalar meson emitting weak hadronic decays of 0 $\Lembda_{b}^{0}$, $Ξ_{b}^{0}$ and $Ξ_{b}^{-}$ bottom baryons employing the pole model and consequently predict their branching ratios.
The gauge-links connecting the parton field operators in the hadronic matrix elements appearing in the transverse momentum dependent distribution functions give rise to T-odd effects. Due to the process-dependence of the gauge-links the T-odd distribution functions appear with different pre-factors. A consequence is that in the description of single spin asymmetries the parton distribution and fragmentation functions are convoluted with gluonic pole cross sections rather than the basic partonic cross sections. In this paper we calculate the gluonic pole cross sections encountered in single spi…
Light scalar mesons can be understood as dynamically generated resonances. They arise as 'companion poles' in the propagators of quark-antiquark seed states when accounting for hadronic loop contributions to the self-energies of the latter. Such a mechanism may explain the overpopulation in the scalar sector - there exist more resonances with total spin $J=0$ than can be described within a quark model. Along this line, we study an effective Lagrangian approach where the isovector state $a_{0}(1450)$ couples via both non-derivative and derivative interactions to pseudoscalar mesons. It is demon…
We discuss the relation between the analytic structure of the scattering amplitude and the origin of an eigenstate represented by a pole of the amplitude. If the eigenstate is not dynamically generated by the interaction in the channel of interest, the residue of the pole vanishes in the zero coupling limit. Based on the topological nature of the phase of the scattering amplitude, we show that the pole must encounter with the Castillejo-Dalitz-Dyson (CDD) zero in this limit. It is concluded that the dynamical component of the eigenstate is small if a CDD zero exists near the eigenstate pole. We…
Quarks of different flavors have different masses, which will cause breaking of flavor symmetries of QCD. Flavor symmetries and their breaking in hadron spectroscopy play important role for understanding the internal structures of hadrons. Hadron spectroscopy with strangeness reveals the importance of unquenched quark dynamics. Systematic study of hadron spectroscopy with strange, charm and beauty quarks would be very revealing and essential for understanding the internal structure of hadrons and its underlying quark dynamics.
We present the leading unpolarized and single spin asymmetries in inclusive two-hadron production in electron-positron annihilation at the Z pole. The azimuthal dependence in the unpolarized differential cross section of almost back-to-back hadrons is a leading cos(2 phi) asymmetry, which arises solely due to the intrinsic transverse momenta of the quarks. An extensive discussion on how to measure this asymmetry and the accompanying time-reversal odd fragmentation functions is given. A simple estimate indicates that the asymmetry could be of the order of a percent.
We present recent results of hadron spectroscopy and hadron-hadron interaction from the perspective of constituent quark models. We pay special attention to the role played by higher order Fock space components in the hadron spectra and the connection of this extension with the hadron-hadron interaction. The main goal of our description is to obtain a coherent understanding of the lowenergy hadron phenomenology without enforcing any particular model, to constrain its characteristics and learn about low-energy realization of the theory.
The $σ$ resonance was observed as a conspicuous $π^+π^-$ peak in hadronic decays like $J/ψ\to π^+π^-ω$ or $D^+\toπ^+π^-π^+$. The phase of the $σ\toπ^+π^-$ amplitude, extracted from production data within the conventional isobar model, is assumed to coincide with that in $ππ$ elastic scattering. We check the validity of this assumption by using Lehmann-Symanzik-Zimmermann (LSZ) reduction and unitarity. The rescattering effects in the final three-particle states are shown to generate a correction to the phase given by a naive application of Watson theorem. We briefly discuss the implications of …
We present that including the hadron loop effects could help us to understand the spectrum of the heavier charmonium-like states and their decays simultaneously. The observed states could be represented by the poles on the complex energy plane. By coupling to the opened thresholds, the pole positions are shifted from the bare states predicted in the quenched potential model to the complex energy plane. The pole masses are generally pulled down from the bare masses and the open-charm decay widths are related to the imaginary parts of the pole positions. Moreover, we also analyze the pole trajec…
New results on the spectrum of nucleon resonances from the Bonn-Gatchina partial wave analysis are presented, and possible interpretations are discussed.
Model-independent constraints on hadronic form factors, in particular those describing exclusive semileptonic decays, can be derived from the knowledge of field correlators calculated in perturbative QCD, using analyticity and unitarity. The location of poles corresponding to below-threshold resonances, i.e., stable states that cannot decay into a pair of hadrons from the crossed channel of the form factor, must be known a priori, and their effect, accounted for through the use of Blaschke factors, is to reduce the strength of the constraints in the semileptonic region. By contrast, above-thre…
A brief survey is presented of recently discovered hadrons, some of them presumably demonstrating a new kind of internal structure. This includes : spin-singlet quarkonium, mesons with unexpected mass or width, baryons with two heavy quarks, and pentaquark candidates. Flavour configurations with a combination of light and heavy quarks appear as particularly promising.
We show that the implementation of chiral symmetry in recent studies of the hadron spectrum in the context of the constituent quark model is inconsistent with chiral perturbation theory. In particular, we show that the leading nonanalytic (LNA) contributions to the hadron masses are incorrect in such approaches. The failure to implement the correct chiral behaviour of QCD results in incorrect systematics for the corrections to the masses.
We discuss the role of gluon poles and the gauge invariance for the hadron tensors of Drell-Yan and direct photon production processes with the transversely polarized hadron.
In this letter, we revise the QED gauge invariance for the hadron tensor of Drell-Yan type processes with the transversely polarized hadron. We perform our analysis within the Feynman gauge for gluons and make a comparison with the results obtained within the light-cone gauge. We demonstrate that QED gauge invariance leads, first, to the need of a non-standard diagram and, second, to the absence of gluon poles in the correlators $\langle\barψγ_\perp A^+ψ\rangle$ related traditionally to $dT(x,x)/dx$. As a result, these terms disappear from the final QED gauge invariant hadron tensor. We also v…
A brief review is first presented of attempts to predict stable multiquark states within current models of hadron spectroscopy. Then a model combining flip-flop and connected Steiner trees is introduced and shown to lead to stable multiquarks, in particular for some configurations involving several heavy quarks and bearing exotic quantum numbers.
The colour, flavour, spin and J^PC of glueballs and hybrid mesons and baryons are constructed in an intuitive manner in both the gluon counting and adiabatic definitions. Glueball decay, production and mixing and hybrid meson decay selection rules and production are clarified.
We consider the direct photon production in two hadron collision with one of the hadrons being transversely polarized. By using the contour gauge for gluon fields, we find that there are new twist-$3$ terms present in the hadron tensor of the considering process in addition to the standard twist-$3$ terms. In this work, we demonstrate that the significance of these new terms are two-fold: first, they are crucial to both the QED and QCD gauge invariance and, second, their contributions to the hadron tensor are at least the same as those from the standard ones. We also study the resuting effects…
We argue that the evolution of coloured partons into colour-singlet hadrons has approximate factorization into an extended parton-shower phase and a colour-singlet resonance--pole phase. The amplitude for the conversion of colour connected partons into hadrons necessarily resembles Regge-pole amplitudes since qq-bar resonance amplitudes and Regge-pole amplitudes are related by duality. A `Regge-cascade' factorization property of the N-point Veneziano amplitude provides further justification of this protocol. This latter factorization property, in turn, allows the construction of general multi-…
We study pentaquark $Θ^{+} (I=0,J=1/2)$ in the QCD sum rules emphasizing that we can not extract any properties of the pentaquark outside of the Borel window. To find the appropriate Borel window, we prepare a favorable set up of the correlators and carry out the operator product expansion up to dimension 15 within factorization hypothesis. Our procedures reduce the unwanted high energy contaminations and enhance the low energy correlation. In the Borel window, independent analyses for the chiral-even and odd sum rules give the consistent values of the $Θ^+$ mass, $1.68\pm0.22$ GeV, and the re…
We do meson spectroscopy by studying the behavior of S-matrix poles in the complex-energy plane, as a function of the coupling strength for triplet-P-zero quark-pair creation. Thereto, a general formula for non-exotic hadron-hadron scattering involving arbitrary quark confinement is used, which can be applied to all flavors. We find two distinct types of poles, which we call "confinement" and "continuum" poles, respectively. Together, they suffice to understand the experimental meson spectrum.
It is shown that the principal pattern in baryon spectroscopy, which is associated with the flavor-spin dependent hyperfine interaction, is due to the spontaneous breaking of chiral symmetry in QCD and thus cannot be addressed by chiral perturbation theory, which is based on the explicit chiral symmetry breaking.
The production of four hadronic jets in e+e- collisions above the Z pole is dominated by the QCD e+e- --> qqqq, qqgg processes and, for sufficiently high energy, the electroweak e+e- --> W+W- --> qqqq process. However there is another mechanism for producing four jets, e+e- --> Z gg --> qqgg, which can be regarded as a `hadronic return' to the Z pole. We investigate this new process in detail
A brief survey is presented of selected recent results in hadron spectroscopy and related theoretical studies. This includes the pentaquarks and hadrons containing one or two charmed quarks or antiquarks.
We explore the electromagnetic gauge invariance of the hadron tensor of the Drell-Yan process with one transversely polarized hadron. The special role is played by the contour gauge for gluon fields. The prescription for the gluonic pole in the twist 3 correlator is related to causality property and compared with the prescriptions for exclusive hard processes. As a result of we get the extra contributions, which naively do not have an imaginary phase. The single spin asymmetry for the Drell-Yan process is enhanced by the factor of two.
A selected survey is presented of the recent progress in hadron spectroscopy. This includes spin-singlet charmonium states, excitations of charmonium and open-charm mesons, double-charm baryons, and pentaquark candidates. Models proposing exotic bound states or resonances are reviewed. The sector of exotic mesons with two heavy quarks appears as particularly promising.

We analyze the single transverse-spin asymmetry (SSAs) for inclusive hadron production in the $pp$ collision at RHIC based on the twist-3 mechanism in QCD. As an origin of SSAs, we take into account of all kinds of pole contributions associated with the twist-3 quark-gluon correlation functions in the polarized proton. By the inclusion of the soft-fermion-pole contribution in addition to the soft-gluon-pole contribution, we find SSAs observed at RHIC are better described for all kinds of mesons. $P_T$-dependence of the asymmetry and the comparison with the FNAL data are also presented.
Despite that quantum chromodynamics, the theory of strong interaction, has colorful quarks and gluons as its basic degrees of freedom, all fundamental particles participating the strong interaction that can be directly detected in experiments are colorless or color-singlet hadrons. This phenomenon is called color confinement. Because of that, the study of hadron spectroscopy is essential in improving our understanding of the nonperturbative regime of QCD and to reveal the mechanism of color confinement. The high-luminosity electron-positron collision machine under discussion, Super tau-Charm F…
A brief review of theoretical progress in hadron spectroscopy and nonperturbative QCD is presented. Attention is focussed on recent lattice gauge theory, the Dyson-Schwinger formalism, effective field theory, unquenching constituent models, and some beyond the Standard Model physics.
Many efforts have been made to reveal the nature of the overabundant resonant structures observed by the worldwide experiments in the last two decades. Hadronic molecules attract special attention because many of these seemingly unconventional resonances are located close to the threshold of a pair of hadrons. To give an overall feature of the spectrum of hadronic molecules composed of a pair of heavy-antiheavy hadrons, namely, which pairs are possible to form molecular states, we take charmed hadrons for example to investigate the interaction between them and search for poles by solving the B…
The knowledge of hadron spectrum is based on experimental observations of hadronic resonances. The resonances are normally observed as peaks in certain invariant mass distributions. However, neither is a peak necessarily due to the presence of a resonance, nor does a resonance necessarily lead to a peak. Kinematic singularities can also produce peaks. Here, we discuss such possibilities and methods distinguishing genuine resonances from kinematic effects.
Lattice QCD determinations appropriate to hadron spectroscopy are reviewed with emphasis on the glueball and hybrid meson states in the quenched approximation. Hybrids are discussed for heavy and for light quarks. The effects of sea quarks (unquenching) are explored.
Relativistic potential-type equations are proposed which approximately reproduce important features and constraints of field-theoretic models and can be useful tool in hadron spectroscopy. Within this approach, the Regge-trajectory parameters and some properties of hihger radial excitations in the light quark sector are discussed.

The $J/Ψ$ and $Ψ'$ experiments at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider (BEPC) play a unique role in many aspects of light hadron spectroscopy, such as hunting for glueballs and hybrids, extracting $u\bar u+d\bar d$ and $s\bar s$ components of mesons, and studying excited nucleons and hyperons, i.e., $N^*$, $Λ^*$, $Σ^*$ and $Ξ^*$ resonances. Physics objectives, recent results and future prospects of light hadron spectroscopy at BEPC are presented.
In the past few years the field of hadron spectroscopy has seen renewed interest due to the pubblication, initially mostly from B-Factories, of evidences of states that do not match regular spectroscopy, but are rather candidates for bound states with additional quarks or gluons. A huge effort in understanding the nature of this new states and in building a new spectroscopy is ongoing. This report reviews the experimental and theoretical state of the art on heavy quarkonium exotic spectroscopy, with particular attention on the steps towards a global picture.
Rapporteur talk at the Lepton-Photon Conference, Rome, July 2001: reviewing the evidence and strategies for understanding scalar mesons, glueballs and hybrids, the gluonic Pomeron and the interplay of heavy flavours and light hadron dynamics. Dedicated to the memory of Nathan Isgur, long-time collaborator and friend, whose original ideas in hadron spectroscopy formed the basis for much of the talk.
We show that linear Regge trajectories for mesons and baryons, and the cubic mass spectrum associated with them, determine expressions for the hadron masses in terms of the universal Regge slope α' alone. The ground state hadron masses as calculated from these expressions are in excellent agreement with experiment for α'=0.85 GeV^{-2}.
Using recently evaluated contributions (including a novel one calculated here), we present updated values for the pole mass and $\bar{MS}$ mass of the $b$ quark: $m_b=5022\pm58$ MeV, for the pole mass, and $\bar{m}_b(\bar{m}_b)=4286\pm36$ MeV for the $\bar{MS}$ one. These values are accurate including, respectively, $O(α_s^5\logα_s)$ and $O(α_s^3)$ corrections and, in both cases, leading orders in the ratio $m_c^2/m_b^2$.
There have been numerous developments in hadron spectroscopy over the past year. In this brief review I focus on two general areas. In the first I give an update on hadrons with b-quarks. Their properties are in textbook agreement with QCD motivated constituent quark models. The second topic is the Charmonium-like $XYZ$ states above open charm threshold that continue to be discovered. Many of these do not seem to be described as conventional c\bar{c} states and may be hadronic molecules, Tetraquarks, or Charmonium Hybrids. The first topic is an example of how well we seem to understand hadrons…
We review recent applications of the Two Body Dirac equations of constraint dynamics to meson spectroscopy and describe new extensions to three-body problems in their use in the study of baryon spectroscopy. We outline unique aspects of these equations for QED bound states that distinguish them among the various other approaches to the relativistic two body problem. Finally we discuss recent theorectial solutions of new peculiar bound states for positronium arising from the Two Body Dirac equations of constraint dynamics, assuming point particles for the electron and the positron.
We study exclusive B decays to final states containing a charmed baryon within the pole model framework. Since the strong coupling for $Λ_b\bar B N$ is larger than that for $Σ_b \bar BN$, the two-body charmful decay $B^-\toΣ_c^0\bar p$ has a rate larger than $\bar B^0\toΛ_c^+\bar p$ as the former proceeds via the $Λ_b$ pole while the latter via the $Σ_b$ pole. By the same token, the three-body decay $\bar B^0\toΣ_c^{++}\bar pπ^-$ receives less baryon-pole contribution than $B^-\toΛ_c^+\bar pπ^-$. However, because the important charmed-meson pole diagrams contribute constructively to the former…
The last two decades have witnessed the discovery of a myriad of new and unexpected hadrons. The future holds more surprises for us, thanks to new-generation experiments. Understanding the signals and determining the properties of the states requires a parallel theoretical effort. To make full use of available and forthcoming data, a careful amplitude modeling is required, together with a sound treatment of the statistical uncertainties, and a systematic survey of the model dependencies. We review the contributions made by the Joint Physics Analysis Center to the field of hadron spectroscopy.
The quark-gluon sea in the hadrons is considered as periodically correlated. Energy levels of Shrodinger equation with harmonic potential is used for describing of the spectrum of hadron masses. In the considered cases the effective potential operating on each particle of ensemble, under certain conditions becomes square-law on displacement from a equilibrium point. It can become an explanation of popularity of oscillator potential for the description of a spectrum of masses of elementary particles. The analysis shows that levels of periodic potential better agreed to the spectrum of hadron ma…
This paper reviews the spectroscopy and decay of B hadrons at the Tevatron. We discuss the spectroscopy of excited B states (B**, Bs**) and the observation of the Sigma_b baryon at the Tevatron. The second part of this review discusses the decays of B hadrons and measurements of branching fractions. We focus on charmless two-body decays of B->hh.
We study the hadronic molecular states with the quark content $bc\bar{s}\bar{q}$ by investigating the interactions of the $\bar{B}_s D$, $\bar{B} D_s$, $\bar{B}_s^* D$, $\bar{B}^* D_s$, $\bar{B}_s D^*$, $\bar{B} D_s^*$, $\bar{B}_s^* D^*$, and $\bar{B}^* D_s^*$ systems. By solving the Bethe-Salpeter equation within the extended local hidden gauge formalism, we find altogether six poles qualifying as possible hadronic molecular states: one pole of $J^P=0^+$ below the $\bar{B}_s D$-$\bar{B}D_s$ threshold, one pole of $J^P=1^+$ below the $\bar{B}_s^* D$-$\bar{B}^* D_s$ threshold, one pole of $J^P=…
The theory of heavy meson masses, in which the symmetries of heavy and light quarks are exploited, can be used to describe the low energy interaction among heavy mesons to a better extent. The spin-flavor symmetry leads to many interesting relations between the properties of hadrons containing a heavy quark. The most direct consequences concern the spectroscopy of such states. We use such symmetries to explore some of the states of B-meson and predictions are found to be in agreement with the experimental data.
We calculate the hadron tensor related to the photon-induced Drell-Yan process, with incoming nucleon being transversally polarised. We predict the new single spin asymmetry which probes gluon poles and which is expressed in terms of photon (both chiral-odd and chiral-even) distribution amplitudes and chiral-odd nucleon function stemming from the nucleon transverse polarization.
