We present the measurements, performed by the Belle II experiment, related to the B and D meson decays. These results are based on 63 fb$^{-1}$ and 9 fb$^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ collision data recorded by the Belle II detector at a center-of-mass energy corresponding to the mass of the Y(4S) resonance and 60 MeV below the Y(4S) resonance. The results reassure that Belle II is in the right direction in pursuit of measuring the Standard Model predictions with improved precision.
We update the Standard Model (SM) predictions for $B$-meson lifetimes within the heavy quark expansion (HQE). Including for the first time the contribution of the Darwin operator, SU(3)$_F$ breaking corrections to the matrix element of dimension-six four-quark operators and the so-called eye-contractions, we obtain for the total widths $Γ(B^+) = (0.58^{+0.11}_{-0.07}) \, \mbox{ps}^{-1}$, $Γ(B_d) = (0.63^{+0.11}_{-0.07}) \, \mbox{ps}^{-1}$, $Γ(B_s) = (0.63^{+0.11}_{-0.07}) \, \mbox{ps}^{-1}$, and for the lifetime ratios $τ(B^+) / τ(B_d) = 1.086 \pm 0.022$, $τ(B_s) / τ(B_d) = 1.003 \pm 0.006 \, …
A precise knowledge of charged Triple Gauge Couplings (cTGCs) is important for the determination of Higgs couplings and for constraining physics beyond the Standard Model. Future high-energy $e^{+}e^{-}$ colliders could have a significantly improved sensitivity to anomalous cTGCs. The fit framework presented here extracts cTGCs in parallel with chiral cross sections and beam polarisation parameters. It demonstrates that cTGCs can be measured with precision in the $10^{-3}-10^{-4}$ range. A strong dependence of the cTGC sensitivity on the available luminosities and polarisations is observed.
We study the impact of future measurements of lepton-charge and forward-backward asymmetries in Drell-Yan processes in regions of transverse and invariant masses near the Standard Model gauge bosons peaks to improve the Parton Distribution Functions uncertainties. We study the implications on $W^{'}$ and $Z^{'}$ searches following the reduction of these uncertainties. We find that the sensitivity to the Beyond the Standard Model states is greatly increased with respect to the case of base Parton Distribution Functions sets, thereby enabling one to set more stringent limits on (or indeed discov…
The proposed electron-proton collider experiments LHeC and FCC-eh at CERN are the highest resolution microscopes that can be realised in the present century and they would represent a really unique research facility. We exploit simulated neutral-current and charged-current deep-inelastic scattering data of the LHeC and the FCC-eh and examine their sensitivity for precision physics in the Electroweak sector of the Standard Model (SM), like the effective weak mixing angle $\sin^2θ_{\textrm{W},\ell}^\textrm{eff}$, or the light-quark weak-neutral-current couplings. Unique measurements are further …
T2HK is an upcoming long-baseline experiment in Japan which will have two water Cherenkov detector tanks of 187 kt volume each at distance of 295 km from the source. An alternative project, T2HKK is also under consideration where one of the water tanks will be moved to Korea at a distance of 1100 km. The flux at 295 km will cover the first oscillation maximum and the flux at 1100 km will mainly cover the second oscillation maximum. As physics sensitivity at the dual baseline rely on variation in statistics, dependence of systematic uncertainty, effect of second oscillation maximum and matter d…
The future 100 TeV FCC-hh hadron collider will give access to rare but clean final states which are out of reach of the HL-LHC. One such process is the $Zh$ production channel in the $(ν\barν / \ell^{+}\ell^{-})γγ$ final states. We study the sensitivity of this channel to the $\mathcal{O}_{φq}^{(1)}$, $\mathcal{O}_{φq}^{(3)}$, $\mathcal{O}_{φu}$, and $\mathcal{O}_{φd}$ SMEFT operators, which parametrize deviations of the $W$ and $Z$ couplings to quarks, or, equivalently, anomalous trilinear gauge couplings (aTGC). While our analysis shows that good sensitivity is only achievable for $\mathcal{…
The long baseline (LBL) neutrino experiments use heavy nuclear targets for neutrino scattering in which nuclear effects give rise to complications in measuring the neutrino oscillation parameters up to high precision. These nuclear effects are not yet fully understood and therefore need to be quantified as they contribute to the systematic uncertainties. Precision reconstruction of neutrino energy is one of the main components in measuring the oscillation parameters, and it is required that the neutrino energy is reconstructed with very high precision. In this work, we investigate the effects …
The observation of lepton flavor violation indicates new physics beyond the Standard Model. Lepton colliders are ideal facilities to probe charged lepton flavor violation (CLFV) signals induced by new physics at high energy. In this work we perform a comprehensive study of the sensitivity of future lepton colliders to charged lepton flavor violation. We consider the most general renormalizable Lagrangian coupling two leptons to new bosonic particles, involving both $ΔL=0$ and $ΔL=2$ interactions. The CLFV processes are introduced by the exchange of off-shell new particles at tree-level. We fin…
The precise determination of the proton radius from recent elastic scattering electron-proton data is discussed. The necessary precision on the elastic cross section to discriminate among the values coming from atomic spectroscopy is scrutinized in terms of the relevant quantity, i.e., the derivative of the form factor. It is shown that such precision is two orders of magnitude higher than the precision on the cross section, that is the measured observable. Different fits on the available data and of their discrete derivative, with analytical constraints are shown. The systematic error associa…
Search for the Electric Dipole Moment of nuclear particles is at the forefront of incessant quest for CP violation beyond Standard Model. The ultimate target is to reach a sensitivity to the electric dipole moment of neutrons, protons, deuterons etc. at the level of $\sim 10^{-15}$ nuclear magnetons. Defying the common lore on weakness of gravity, spurious signals induced by curved space-time in the gravity field of the rotating Earth become quite substantial at such a daunting sensitivity. We review the recent development in the field with an emphasis on the geometric magnetic field in pure e…
We investigate a new class of galactic halo axion detection techniques based on precision frequency and phase metrology. Employing equations of axion electrodynamics, it is demonstrated how a dual mode cavity exhibits linear mode-mode coupling mediated by the axion upconversion and axion downconversion processes. The approach demonstrates phase sensitivity with an ability to detect axion phase with respect to externally pumped signals. Axion signal to phase spectral density conversion is calculated for open and closed loop detection schemes. The fundamental limits of the proposed approach come…
