The first excited 2+ energy states of nuclei give many substantial information related to the nuclear structure. Including these levels, all excited states of nuclei are shown regularities in spin, parity and energy. In the even-even nuclei, the first excited state is generally 2+ and the energy values of them increase as the closed shells are approached. The excited levels in nuclei can be investigated by using theoretical nuclear models such nuclear shell model. In the present study for the first time, we have used artificial neural networks for the determination of the energies of first 2+ states in the even-even nuclei in nuclidic chart as a function of Z, N and A numbers. We have used adopted literature values for the estimations. According to the results, the method is convenient for this goal and one can confidently use the method for the determination of first 2+ state energy values whose experimental values do not exist in the literature.
We investigate the importance of proton capture on low-lying excited states that are thermally excited in hot stellar environments. In addition to the previously known case of $^{32}$Cl$(p,γ)^{33}$Ar we find several other sd-shell nuclei with large stellar enhancement factors. We discuss the uncertainty this introduces into rp-process nucleosynthesis.
We show that kaonic nuclei can be produced by the $(K^-,p)$ and $(K^-,n)$ reactions. The reactions are shown to have cross sections experimentally measurable. The observation of the kaonic nuclei gives a kaon-nucleus potential which answers the question on the existence of kaon condensation in dense nuclear matter especially neutron stars.
A study of the energies of the first excited $0^+$ states in all even-even $Z$ $\geq$ 8 nuclei reveals an anomalous behavior in some nuclei with $N$ = $Z$, $Z$ $\pm$ 2. We analyze these irregularities in the framework of the shell model. It is shown that proton-neutron correlations play an important role in this phenomenon.
We investigate the thermodynamical content of a cellular model which describes nuclear fragmentation as a process taking place in an excited disordered system. The model which reproduces very well the size distribution of fragments does not show the existence of a first order phase transition.
A statistical approach based on the Weisskopf evaporation theory has been developed to describe the de-excitation process of highly excited heavy and superheavy nuclei, in particular for the proton-rich nuclei. The excited nucleus is cooled by evaporating $γ$-ray, light particles (neutrons, protons, $α$ etc) in competition with the binary fission, in which the structure effects (shell correction, fission barrier, particle separation energy) contribute to the processes. The formation of residual nuclei is evaluated via sequential emission of possible particles above the separation energies. The…
The standard and renormalized coupled cluster methods with singles, doubles, and noniterative triples and their generalizations to excited states, based on the equation of motion coupled cluster approach, are applied to the He-4 and O-16 nuclei. A comparison of coupled cluster results with the results of the exact diagonalization of the Hamiltonian in the same model space shows that the quantum chemistry inspired coupled cluster approximations provide an excellent description of ground and excited states of nuclei. The bulk of the correlation effects is obtained at the coupled cluster singles …
The energy spectrum and the emission rate of particles emitted from excited nucleus due to both the evaporation and the splashing (emission from a cold vibrating nucleus) are calculated. We show that the collective motion of the nuclear Fermi liquid is accompanied by direct non-statistical emission of nucleons via the dynamical distortion of the Fermi surface.
We study the ground and the first excited $0^{+}$ states of two mirror nuclei $^{14}$C and $^{14}$O within a five-cluster model (three alpha-particles and two extra nucleons) with the use of high accuracy variational approach with Gaussian bases. The first excited $0^{+}$ state of these nuclei is shown to be connected with a change of the structure of the two-nucleon subsystem moving in the field of the $^{12}$C cluster. The density distributions, electric form factors (both the elastic and transition ones), pair correlation functions, and the momentum distributions of the constituent particle…
Within Fermionic Molecular Dynamics we investigate fragmentation of a compound system which was created in a heavy-ion collision at a beam energy in the Fermi energy domain and the decay of excited iron nuclei. We show that in FMD many-body correlations play an important role in the formation of fragments.
A variational Monte Carlo method is used to generate sets of orthogonal trial functions, Psi_T(J^pi,T), for given quantum numbers in various light p-shell nuclei. These Psi_T are then used as input to Green's function Monte Carlo calculations of first, second, and higher excited (J^pi,T) states. Realistic two- and three-nucleon interactions are used. We find that if the physical excited state is reasonably narrow, the GFMC energy converges to a stable result. With the combined Argonne v_18 two-nucleon and Illinois-2 three-nucleon interactions, the results for many second and higher states in A…
Within the collective Bohr Hamiltonian, the adoption of a mass tensor as a function of collective coordinates has demonstrated its importance for describing the structure of nuclei. On the other hand, for odd-mass nuclei, the Coriolis interaction between the rotational and single-particle motions affects significantly the structure of nuclear excited states. In the framework of a recently developed extended Bohr Hamiltonian, by considering the Deformation-Dependent Mass Formalism whith different mass parameters for the rotation and the two \betha and γvibrations and taking into account the Cor…
Normal parity bands are studied in 157Gd, 163Dy and 169Tm using the pseudo SU(3) shell model. Energies and B(E2) transition strengths of states belonging to six low-lying rotational bands with the same parity in each nuclei are presented. The pseudo SU(3) basis includes states with pseudo-spin 0 and 1, and 1/2 and 3/2, for even and odd number of nucleons, respectively. States with pseudo-spin 1 and 3/2 must be included for a proper description of some excited bands.
We make a systematic calculation on $α$-decay branching ratios to members of ground-state rotational band and to excited $0^{+}$ states of even-even nuclei by a simple barrier penetration approach. The branching ratios to the excited states of daughter nucleus are determined by the $α$-decay energy, the angular momentum of $α$-particle, and the excitation probability of the daughter nucleus. Our calculation covers isotopic chains from Hg to Fm in the mass regions 180$<$A$<$202 and A$\geq$224. The calculated branching ratios of $α$-transitions are consistent with the experimental data. Some use…
Based on a single particle model which describes the time evolution of the wave function during tunneling across a one dimensional potential barrier we study the proton decay of $^{208}$Pb from excited states with non-vanishing angular momentum $\ell$. Several quantities of interest in this process like the decay rate $λ$, the period of oscillation $T_{osc}$, the transient time $t_{tr}$, the tunneling time $t_{tun}$ and the average value of the proton packet position $ r_{av} $ are computed and compared with the WKB results.
The main characteristics of the ground and, in particular, the first excited monopole state in the $^{4}$He, $^{16}$O and $^{40}$Ca nuclei are studied within the generator coordinate method using Skyrme-type effective forces and three construction potentials, namely the harmonic-oscillator, the square-well and Woods-Saxon potentials. Calculations of density distributions, radii, nucleon momentum distributions, natural orbitals, occupation numbers and depletions of the Fermi sea, as well as of pair density and momentum distributions are carried out. A comparison of these quantities for both gro…
The method of group theory is applied to investigate the ground and the excited states of the triton and helium nuclei by using the translation invariant shell model with basis functions corresponding to even number of quanta of excitations in the range 0 less than or equal to N less than or equal to 20. Accordingly, the ground and first excited state wave functions and energies, the S, P and D state probabilities, the root mean square radius and the magnetic dipole moment of triton have been investigated. Also, the energies and wave functions of the ground and the even parity excited states a…
We construct a microscopic model of thermally excited superdeformed states that describes both the barrier penetration mechanism, leading to the decay-out transitions to normal deformed states, and the rotational damping causing fragmentation of rotational E2 transitions. We describe the barrier penetration by means of a tunneling path in the two-dimensional deformation energy surface, which is calculated with the cranked Nilsson-Strutinsky model. The individual excited superdeformed states and associated E2 transition strengths are calculated by the shell model diagonalization of the many-par…
The paper considers the chains of successive electron capture reactions by nuclei of the iron group which take place in the crystal structures of neutron star envelopes. It is shown that as a result of such reactions the daughter nuclei in excited states accumulate within certain layers of neutron star crusts. The phonon model of interactions is proposed between the excited nuclei in the crystalline structure, as well as formation of highly excited nuclear states which emit neutrons and higher energy photons.
Recent results are reported showing the effects of thermal pairing in highly excited nuclei. It is demonstrated that thermal pairing included in the phonon damping model (PDM) is responsible for the nearly constant width of the giant dipole resonance (GDR) at low temperature $T <$ 1 MeV. It is also shown that the enhancement observed in the recent experimentally extracted nuclear level densities in $^{104}$Pd at low excitation energy and various angular momenta is the first experimental evidence of the pairing reentrance in finite (hot rotating) nuclei. In the study of GDR in highly excited nu…
A generalized M1 sum rule for orbital magnetic dipole strength from excited symmetric states to mixed-symmetry states is considered within the proton-neutron interacting boson model of even-even nuclei. Analytic expressions for the dominant terms in the B(M1) transition rates from the first and second $2^+$ states are derived in the U(5) and SO(6) dynamic symmetry limits of the model, and the applicability of a sum rule approach is examined at and in-between these limits. Lastly, the sum rule is applied to the new data on mixed-symmetry states of 94Mo and a quadrupole d-boson ratio $nd(0^+_1)/…
Using a fully quantum mechanical post-form finite-range distorted-wave Born approximation theory of Coulomb breakup, I study the parallel momentum distribution of the core in the Coulomb breakup of suggested excited-state one-neutron halo nuclei considered in their different bound excited states. Narrow momentum distributions obtained in the present calculations for some cases indicate the possibilities of the excited-state halo structure in the nuclei under consideration and therefore favor the previous predictions.
The lowest six rotational bands have been studied in the particle-rotor model with the particle-hole configuration $πh^1_{11/2}\otimesνh^{-1}_{11/2}$ and different triaxiality parameter $γ$. Both constant and spin-dependent variable moments of inertial (CMI and VMI) are introduced. The energy spectra, electromagnetic transition probabilities, angular momentum components and $K$-distribution have been examined. It is shown that, besides the band 1 and band 2, the predicted band 3 and band 4 in the calculations of both CMI and VMI for atomic nuclei with $γ=30^\circ$ could be interpreted as chira…
We discuss the approximate inclusion of three-nucleon interactions into ab initio nuclear structure calculations using a multi-reference formulation of normal ordering and Wick's theorem. Following the successful application of single-reference normal ordering for the study of ground states of closed-shell nuclei, e.g., in coupled-cluster theory, multi-reference normal ordering opens a path to open-shell nuclei and excited states. Based on different multi-determinantal reference states we benchmark the truncation of the normal-ordered Hamiltonian at the two-body level in no-core shell-model ca…
We calculate densities of excited states in the quasiparticle random-phase approximation (QRPA)with Skyrme interactions and volume pairing. We focus on low-energy peaks/bumps in the strength functions of a range of Ca, Ni, and Sn isotopes for J pi = 0+, 1-, and 2+. We define an "emitted-neutron number", which we then use to distinguish localized states from scattering-like states. The degree of delocalization either increases as the neutron-drip line is approached or stays high between the stability line and the drip line. In the 2+ channel of Sn, however, the low-lying states, not even counti…
A systematic study of fission-barrier dependence on excitation energy has been performed using the self-consistent finite-temperature Hartree-Fock+BCS (FT-HF+BCS) formalism with the SkM* Skyrme energy density functional. The calculations have been carried out for even-even superheavy nuclei with Z ranging between 110 and 124. For an accurate description of fission pathways, the effects of triaxial and reflection-asymmetric degrees of freedom have been fully incorporated. Our survey demonstrates that the dependence of isentropic fission barriers on excitation energy changes rapidly with particl…
The thermodynamics of the electromagnetic radiation from heated nuclei is developed on basis of the Landau theory of a Fermi liquid [1]. The case of non-spherical nuclei is considered, in which the quasiparticle energy spectrum is not distorted by the residual interactions that affect the thermodynamic behavior of the system. The number of quanta per cascade and mean-square fluctuation are calculated; the $γ$-quantum spectrum of the whole cascade is also obtained. The formulae can be used to determine the entropy and temperature of the initial nucleus by various methods. The effective nucleon …
We present a novel quantum Monte Carlo method based on a path integral in Fock space, which allows to compute finite-temperature properties of a many-body nuclear system with a monopole pairing interaction in the canonical ensemble. It enables an exact calculation of the thermodynamic variables such as the internal energy, the entropy, or the specific heat, from the measured moments of the number of hops in a path of nuclear configurations. Monte Carlo calculations for a single-shell $(h_{11/2})^6$ model are consistent with an exact calculation from the many-body spectrum in the seniority mode…
Characteristic signatures of statistical Coulomb fragmentation of highly excited nuclear systems were analyzed. It was found that in some important aspects, they coincide with perceived signatures of phase transitions in confined hypothetical pseudo-microcanonical systems, thus potentially giving rise to a false interpretation of experimental observations in terms of phase transitions. It is demonstrated that the heat capacity as derived based on experimental observations may show domains of faux negative heat capacity for the same fundamental reason a faux negative heat capacity appears in co…
Weak-interaction rates, including beta-decay and electron capture, are studied in several odd-A nuclei in the pf-shell region at various densities and temperatures of astrophysical interest. Special attention is paid to the relative contribution to these rates of thermally populated excited states in the decaying nucleus. The nuclear structure involved in the weak processes is studied within a quasiparticle random-phase approximation with residual interactions in both particle-hole and particle-particle channels on top of a deformed Skyrme Hartree-Fock mean field with pairing correlations. In …
In this paper, we present new analytical solutions of the Bohr Hamiltonian problem that we derived with the Tietz-Hua potential, here used for describing the β-part of the nuclear collective potential plus harmonic oscillator one for the γ-part. Also, we proceed to a systematic comparison of the numerical results obtained with this kind of β-potential with others which are widely used in such a framework as well as with the experiment. The calculations are carried out for energy spectra and electromagnetic transition probabilities for γ-unstable and axially symmetric deformed nuclei. In the sa…
A characteristic feature of collective and particle-hole excitations in neutron-rich nuclei is that many of them couple to unbound neutron in continuum single-particle orbits. The continuum random phase approximation (cRPA) is a powerful many-body method that describes such excitations, and it provides a scheme to evaluate transition strengths from the ground state. In an attempt to apply cRPA to the radiative neutron capture reaction, we formulate in the present study an extended scheme of cRPA that describes gamma-transitions from the excited states under consideration, which decay to low-ly…
The physics of radioactive ion beams implies the description of weakly-bound nuclear systems. One key aspect concerns the coupling to low-lying collective-type excited states, which for these systems might not be stable levels, but particle emitting resonances. In this work we describe how the scattering cross section and compound spectra change when the colliding fragments have such collective excitations featuring particle emission. We explore this question in the framework of a multi-channel algebraic scattering method of determining nucleon-nucleus cross sections at low energies. For a ran…
Two-nucleon momentum correlation functions are investigated for different single thermal sources at given initial temperature $(T)$ and density $(ρ)$. To this end, the space-time evolutions of various single excited nuclei at $T$ $= 1 - 20$ $MeV$ and $ρ$ = 0.2 - 1.2 $ρ_0$ are simulated by using the thermal isospin-dependent quantum molecular dynamics $(ThIQMD)$ model. Momentum correlation functions of identical proton-pairs ($C_{pp}(q)$) or neutron-pairs ($C_{nn}(q)$) at small relative momenta are calculated by $Lednick\acute{y}$ and $Lyuboshitz$ analytical method. The results illustrate that …
We implement a high order discrete derivative analysis of the low lying collective energies of even-even nuclei with respect to the total number of valence nucleon pairs N in the framework of F- spin multiplets appearing in a symplectic sp(4,R) classification scheme. We find that for the nuclei of any given F- multiplet the respective experimental energies exhibit a Delta N=2 staggering behavior and for the nuclei of two united neighboring F- multiplets well pronounced Delta N=1 staggering patterns are observed. Those effects have been reproduced successfully through a generalized sp(4,R) mode…
We systematically derive a length scale characterizing the size of a low-lying, beta stable nucleus from empirical data for the diffraction peak angle in the proton inelastic differential cross section of incident energy of \sim 1 GeV. In doing so, we assume that the target nucleus in the ground state is a completely absorptive "black" sphere of radius a. The cross section πa^2, where a is determined in such a way as to reproduce the empirical proton diffraction peak angle in the elastic channel, is known to agree with empirical total reaction cross sections for incident protons to within erro…
The spin and parity ($J^π$) assignments in even-even nuclei were reviewed across the nuclear chart using the Evaluated Nuclear Structure Data File (ENSDF). The prevalence of 2$^+_1$ first or lowest excited states is confirmed. The properties of 0$^+_2$, 1$^-_1$, and 3$^-_1$ lowest excited states were reexamined using the ENSDF data evaluation procedures. The $J^π$ systematic trends and correlations between level quantum numbers and nuclear physics phenomena are discussed.
We examine the rate of neutrino-antineutrino pair emission by hot nuclei in collapsing stellar cores. The rates are calculated assuming that only allowed charge-neutral Gamow-Teller (GT$_0$) transitions contribute to the decay of thermally excited nuclear states. To obtain the GT$_0$ transition matrix elements, we employ the quasiparticle random phase approximation extended to finite temperatures within the thermo field dynamics formalism. The decay rates and the energy emission rates are calculated for the sample nuclei ${}^{56}$Fe and $^{82}$Ge at temperatures relevant to core collapse super…
This contribution reviews the present status on the available constraints to the nuclear equation of state (EoS) around saturation density from nuclear structure calculations on ground and collective excited state properties of atomic nuclei. It concentrates on predictions based on self-consistent mean-field calculations, which can be considered as an approximate realization of an exact energy density functional (EDF). EDFs are derived from effective interactions commonly fitted to nuclear masses, charge radii and, in many cases, also to pseudo-data such as nuclear matter properties. Although …
Explicit relations between the isospin mixing probability, the spreading width $Γ_{IAS}^{\downarrow}$ of the Isobaric Analog State (IAS) and the statistical decay width $Γ_c$ of the compound nucleus at finite excitation energy, are derived by using the Feshbach projection formalism. The temperature dependence of the isospin mixing probability is discussed quantitatively for the first time by using the values of $Γ_{IAS}^{\downarrow}$ and of $Γ_c$ calculated by means of microscopic models. It is shown that the mixing probability remains essentially constant up to a temperature of the order of 1…
The evolution of the nuclear matter density distribution with excitation energy is studied within the framework of a finite-range interacting Fermi gas model and microcanonical thermodynamics in Thomas-Fermi approximation. It is found that with increasing excitation energy, both infinite and finite systems become unstable against infinitesimal matter density fluctuations, albeit in different ways. In modeling, this instability reveals itself via an apparent negative heat capacity of the system and is seen to result in the volume boiling in the case of infinite matter and surface boiling in the…
In recent years, artificial neural network (ANN) has been successfully applied in nuclear physics and some other areas of physics. This study begins with the calculations of α-decay half-lives for some neutron-deficient nuclei using Coulomb and proximity potential model (CPPM), temperature dependent Coulomb and proximity potential model (CPPMT), Royer empirical formula, new Ren B (NRB) formula, and a trained artificial neural network model (TANN ). By comparison with experimental values, the ANN model is found to give very good descriptions of the half-lives of the neutron-deficient nuclei. Mo…
A microscopic description of nuclei is important to understand the nuclear shell-model from fundamental principles. This is difficult to achieve for more than the lightest nuclei without an effective approximation scheme. The purpose of this paper is to define and evaluate an approximation scheme that can be used to study nuclei that are described as two particles attached to a closed (sub-)shell nucleus. The equation-of-motion coupled-cluster formalism has been used to obtain ground and excited state energies. This method is based on the diagonalization of a non-Hermitian matrix obtained from…
Experimental data indicate that the mass tensor of collective Bohr Hamiltonian cannot be considered as a constant but should be considered as a function of the collective coordinates. In this work our purpose is to investigate the properties of low-lying collective states of the odd nuclei $^{173}$Yb and $^{163}$Dy by using a new generalized version of the collective quadrupole Bohr Hamiltonian with deformation-dependent mass coefficients. The proposed new version of the Bohr Hamiltonian is solved for Davidson potential in $β$ shape variable, while the $γ$ potential is taken to be equal to the…
Fragment mass distributions from the fission of U and Pu isotopes at low excitation energies are studied using a dynamical model based on the fluctuation-dissipation theorem formulated as Langevin equations. The present calculations reproduced the overall trend of the asymmetric mass distribution without parameter adjustment for the first time using the Langevin approach. The Langevin trajectories show a complicated time evolution on the potential surface, which causes the time delay of fission, showing that dynamical treatment is vital. It was found that the shell effect of the potential ener…
With the advent of high analysis technology in detecting the Gamow-Teller (GT) excited states beyond one nucleon emission threshold, the quenching of the GT strength to the Ikeda sum rule seems to be recovered by the high-lying GT states. Moreover, in some nuclei, the stronger GT peaks than any other peaks appear explicitly in the high-lying excited states. We address that these high-lying GT excited states stems from the smearing of the Fermi surface by the increase of the chemical potential owing to the deformation within a framework of the deformed quasi-particle random phase approximation …
Starting from experimental studies on alpha-clustering in excited self-conjugate nuclei (from $^{16}$O to $^{28}$Si), temperature and density conditions for such a clustering are determined. Measured temperatures have been found in the range of 5.5 - 6.0 MeV whereas density values of 0.3 - 0.4 times the saturation density are deduced, i.e., 0.046 to 0.062 $fm^{-3}$. Such a density domain is also predicted by constrained self-consistent mean field calculations. These results constitute a benchmark for alpha clustering from self-conjugate nuclei in relation to descriptions of stellar evolution a…
The universal properties and structure of halo nuclei composed of two neutrons (2n) and a core are investigated within an effective quantum mechanics framework. We construct an effective interaction potential that exploits the separation of scales in halo nuclei and treat the nucleus as an effective three-body system. The uncertainty from higher orders in the expansion is quantified through theoretical error bands. First, we investigate the possibility to observe excited Efimov states in 2n halo nuclei. Based on the experimental data, 20C is the only halo nucleus candidate to possibly have an …
The stability of excited superheavy nuclei (SHN) with $100 \leq Z \leq 134$ against neutron emission and fission is investigated by using a statistical model. In particular, a systematic study of the survival probability against fission in the 1n-channel of these SHN is made. In present calculations the neutron separation energies and shell correction energies are consistently taken from the calculated results of the finite range droplet model which predicts an island of stability of SHN around Z=115 and N=179. It turns out that this island of stability persists for excited SHN in the sense th…
In the framework of the quasiparticle-phonon model, we study the non-statistical proton decay of excited states in odd nuclei towards low-lying collective states. Partial cross sections and branching ratios for the proton decay of the high angular momentum states in $^{41}$Sc, $^{59}$Cu and $^{91}$Nb %{\it excited by means of the ($^{7}$Li,$^{6}$He) reaction} are evaluated. The calculated branching ratios predict strong direct proton decays to the low-lying vibrational states in $^{41}$Sc and $^{91}$Nb. A general agreement with existing experimental data is found.
A universal decay law (UDL) for light cluster decay of excited nuclei is formulated by fitting the UDL half-lives to those evaluated within an excitation energy-dependent double folding model (DFM). The half-lives are evaluated within a preformed cluster model. The excitation energy dependence is introduced both in the energy of the emitted cluster and in the interaction potential through the density distributions of the interacting nuclei. The half-lives are found to decrease when the difference between the excitation energies of the parent and daughter nuclei, $ΔE^{*} > $ 0, increases, with …
Presently, it is well established that fission of excited nuclei is a dynamical process being a subject of fluctuations and dissipation. In the literature, there are indications that, at the compact nucleus shapes, the strength of nuclear friction is significantly reduced in comparison with the prediction of the one-body approach. Thus, one can expect that at small deformations the nuclear fission process occurs in the so-called "energy diffusion regime". The purpose of our present work is to compare an approximate analytical formula for the fission rate in this regime with the quasistationary…
We have extracted 565 neutron spectroscopic factors of sd and fp shell nuclei by systematically analyzing more than 2000 measured (d,p) angular distributions. We are able to compare 125 of the extracted spectroscopic factors to values predicted by large-basis shell-model calculations and evaluate the accuracies of spectroscopic factors predicted by different shell-model interactions in these regions. We find that the spectroscopic factors predicted for most excited states of sd-shell nuclei using the latest USDB or USDA interactions agree with the experimental values. For fp shell nuclei, the …
A general discussion and illustration is given of strength functions for rotational transitions in two-dimensional E(gamma_1) x E(gamma_2) spectra. Especially, a narrow component should be proportional to the compound damping width, related to the mixing of basis rotational bands into compound bands with fragmented transition strength. Three E(gamma_1) x E(gamma_2) spectra are made by setting gates on triple coincidences, selecting cascades which feed into specific low-lying bands in the nucleus 168Hf. In each of the gated spectra, we find a ridge, carrying about 100 decay paths. This ridge is…
The excited states of Be-12, Be-14 and B-15 have been studied with a method of antisymmetrized molecular dynamics. In the predicted excited states we find novel molecule-like structures with very exotic clusters such as 6He+8He in Be-14 and 6He+9Li in B-15. The origin of the He-6 cluster development in the very neutron-rich nuclei is understood by the new-type correlation among 4 neutrons and 2 protons. In this paper we also present our recent challenge to study $sd$-shell nuclei. Shape coexistence problems in Ar-36 and Ca-40 are discussed.
The formation of excited compound nucleus (CN) and its statistical decay is investigated within the dinuclear system (DNS) model. The initial DNS is formed in the entrance channel when the projectile is captured by a target, and then the evolution of DNS in mass asymmetry coordinate leads to formation of the hot CN. The emission barriers for complex fragments were calculated within the DNS model by using the double folding procedure for the interaction potential. It is shown that cross sections for complex fragment emission become larger when excited CN is more neutron deficient. This approach …
