The first $p$-widths of the unit disk

On compact 2-manifolds with non-empty convex boundary, we prove a regularity result for integral 1-varifolds $V$ that are stationary with free boundary and $\mathbb{Z}_2$-almost minimizing in small annuli. That regularity says that $V$ is a free boundary finite geodesic network. Next, using that regularity, we compute the first $p$-widths of the unit closed ball $B^2,$ for $p=1, . . . , 4.$

Existence of Min-Max Free Boundary Disks Releasing the Width of a Manifold

We perform a replacement procedure in order to produce a free boundary minimal surface whose area achieves the min-max value over all disk sweepouts of a manifold whose boundary lie in a submanifold. Our result is based on a proof of the convexity of the energy for free boundary harmonic maps and a generalization of Colding-Minicozzi replacement procedure.

Convex Hull of Two Orthogonal Disks

Three configurations of two perpendicular disks in R^3 are examined, the first in which the disks share centers and the other two in which the disks touch at precisely one point. Volume, surface area and mean width calculations dominate the discussion. Integrated mean curvature also appears as an indirect way to compute mean width.

Free Boundary Minimal Surfaces in the Unit Three-Ball via Desingularization of the Critical Catenoid and the Equatorial Disk

We construct a new family of high genus examples of free boundary minimal surfaces in the Euclidean unit 3-ball by desingularizing the intersection of a coaxial pair of a critical catenoid and an equatorial disk. The surfaces are constructed by singular perturbation methods and have three boundary components. They are the free boundary analogue of the Costa-Hoffman-Meeks surfaces and the surfaces constructed by Kapouleas by desingularizing coaxial catenoids and planes. Holomorphic isometries from the Poincaré disk into bounded symmetric domains of rank at least two

We first study holomorphic isometries from the Poincaré disk into the product of the unit disk and the complex unit $n$-ball for $n\ge 2$. On the other hand, we observe that there exists a holomorphic isometry from the product of the unit disk and the complex unit $n$-ball into any irreducible bounded symmetric domain of rank $\ge 2$ which is not biholomorphic to any type-$\mathrm{IV}$ domain. In particular, our study provides many new examples of holomorphic isometries from the Poincaré disk into irreducible bounded symmetric domains of rank at least $2$ except for type-$\mathrm{IV}$ domains.

Radial Balanced metrics on the unit disk

Let $Φ$ be a strictly plurisubharmonic and radial function on the unit disk ${\cal D}\subset {\complex}$ and let $g$ be the \K metric associated to the \K form $ω=\frac{i}{2}\partial\bar\partialΦ$. We prove that if $g$ is $g_{eucl}$-balanced of height 3 (where $g_{eucl}$ is the standard Euclidean metric on ${\complex}={\real}^2$), and the function $h(x)=e^{-Φ(z)}$, $x=|z|^2$, extends to an entire analytic function on ${\real}$, then $g$ equals the hyperbolic metric. The proof of our result is based on a interesting characterization of the function $f(x)=1-x$.

Liouville Quantum Gravity on the unit disk

Our purpose is to pursue the rigorous construction of Liouville Quantum Field Theory on Riemann surfaces initiated by F. David, A. Kupiainen and the last two authors in the context of the Riemann sphere and inspired by the 1981 seminal work by Polyakov. In this paper, we investigate the case of simply connected domains with boundary. We also make precise conjectures about the relationship of this theory to scaling limits of random planar maps with boundary conformally embedded onto the disk.

Bounded differentials on unit disk and the associated geometry

For a harmonic diffeomorphism between the Poincaré disks, Wan showed the equivalence between the boundedness of the Hopf differential and the quasi-conformality. In this paper, we will generalize this result from quadratic differentials to $r$-differetials.
