The goal of this paper is to investigate Gevrey properties of formal solutions of certain generalized linear partial differential equations with variable coefficients. In particular, we extend the notion of moment partial differential equations to include differential operators that are not connected with kernel functions. Using the modified version of Nagumo norms and the properties of the Newton polygon we compute the Gevrey estimate for formal solutions of such generalized partial differential equations.
We provide a complete and self-contained proof of the Gevrey character, in an analytic function $P$, of formal power series solutions of some families of first order holomorphic PDEs. Our approach is based on a majorant series technique by applying Nagumo norms joint with a division algorithm.
We consider a family of holomorphic PDEs whose singular locus is given by the zero set of an analytic map $P$ with $P(0)=0$. Our goal is to establish conditions for the existence and uniqueness of formal power series solutions and to determine their divergence rate. In fact, we prove that the solution is Gevrey in $P$, giving new information on divergency while compared to the classical Gevrey classes. If $P$ is not singular at $0$, we also provide Poincaré conditions to recover convergent solutions. Our strategy is to extend the dimension and lift the given PDE to a problem where results of s…
We study a $q-$analog of a singularly perturbed Cauchy problem with irregular singularity in the complex domain which generalizes a previous result by S. Malek in \cite{malek}. First, we construct solutions defined in open $q-$spirals to the origin. By means of a $q-$Gevrey version of Malgrange-Sibuya theorem we show the existence of a formal power series in the perturbation parameter which turns out to be the $q-$Gevrey asymptotic expansion (of certain type) of the actual solutions.
We consider the Cauchy problem for inhomogeneous linear moment differential equations with holomorphic time dependent coefficients. Using such tools as the formal norms, theory of majorants and the properties of the Newton polygon, we obtain the Gevrey estimate for the formal solution of the equation.
We study the asymptotic behavior of the solutions related to a family of singularly perturbed linear partial differential equations in the complex domain. The analytic solutions obtained by means of a Borel-Laplace summation procedure are represented by a formal power series in the perturbation parameter. Indeed, the geometry of the problem gives rise to a decomposition of the formal and analytic solutions so that a multi-level Gevrey order phenomenon appears. This result leans on a Malgrange-Sibuya theorem in several Gevrey levels.
We study the asymptotic behavior of the solutions related to a singularly perturbed q-difference-differential problem in the complex domain. The analytic solution can be splitted according to the nature of the equation and its geometry so that both, Gevrey and q-Gevrey asymptotic phenomena are observed and can be distinguished, relating the analytic and the formal solution. The proof leans on a two level novel version of Ramis-Sibuya theorem under Gevrey and q-Gevrey orders.
We investigate Gevrey asymptotics for solutions to nonlinear parameter depending Cauchy problems with $2π$-periodic coefficients, for initial data living in a space of quasiperiodic functions. By means of the Borel-Laplace summation procedure, we construct sectorial holomorphic solutions which are shown to share the same formal power series as asymptotic expansion in the perturbation parameter. We observe a small divisor phenomenon which emerges from the quasiperiodic nature of the solutions space and which is the origin of the Gevrey type divergence of this formal series. Our result rests on …
We study a family of singularly perturbed $q-$difference-differential equations in the complex domain. We provide sectorial holomorphic solutions in the perturbation parameter $ε$. Moreover, we achieve the existence of a common formal power series in $ε$ which represents each actual solution, and establish $q-$Gevrey estimates involved in this representation. The proof of the main result rests on a new version of the so-called Malgrange-Sibuya Theorem regarding $q-$Gevrey asymptotics. A particular Dirichlet like series is studied on the way.
We investigate the hydrostatic approximation of a hyperbolic version of Navier-Stokes equations, which is obtained by using Cattaneo type law instead of Fourier law, evolving in a thin strip $\R\times (0,\varepsilon)$. The formal limit of these equations is a hyperbolic Prandtl type equation. We first prove the global existence of solutions to these equations under a uniform smallness assumption on the data in Gevrey $2$ class. Then we justify the limit globally-in-time from the anisotropic hyperbolic Navier-Stokes system to the hyperbolic Prandtl system with such Gevrey $2$ class data. Compar…
We study a nonlinear initial value Cauchy problem depending upon a complex perturbation parameter $ε$ whose coefficients depend holomorphically on $(ε,t)$ near the origin in $\mathbb{C}^{2}$ and are bounded holomorphic on some horizontal strip in $\mathbb{C}$ w.r.t the space variable. We consider a family of forcing terms that are holomorphic on a common sector in time $t$ and on sectors w.r.t the parameter $ε$ whose union form a covering of some neighborhood of 0 in $\mathbb{C}^{\ast}$, which are asked to share a common formal power series asymptotic expansion of some Gevrey order as $ε$ tend…
In this paper, we study a class of first order nonlinear degenerated partial differential equations with singularity at $(t,x)=(0,0)\in \CC^2$. By means of exponential type Nagumo norm approach, Gevrey asymptotic analysis extends to case of holomorphic parameters by a natural way. A sharp condition is then established to deduce the $k$-summability for the formal solutions. Furthermore, analytical solutions in conical domains are found for each type of these nonlinear singular PDEs.
The paper discusses a holomorphic nonlinear singular partial differential equation $(t \partial_t)^mu=F(t,x,\{(t \partial_t)^j \partial_x^αu \}_{j+α\leq m, j<m})$ under the assumption that the equation is of nonlinear totally characteristic type. By using the Newton Polygon at $x=0$, the notion of the irregularity at $x=0$ of the equation is defined. In the case where the irregularity is greater than one, it is proved that every formal power series solution belongs to a suitable formal Gevrey class. The precise bound of the order of the formal Gevrey class is given, and the optimality of this …
We give a new, simpler, proof of nonlinear Landau damping on T^d in Gevrey-1/s regularity (s > 1/3) which matches the regularity requirement predicted by the formal analysis of Mouhot and Villani in the original proof of Landau damping [Acta Mathematica 2011]. Our proof combines in a novel way ideas from the original proof of Landau damping and the proof of inviscid damping in 2D Euler [arXiv:1306.5028]. As in the work on 2D Euler, we use paraproduct decompositions and controlled regularity loss to replace the Newton iteration scheme employed in the original proof. We perform time-response est…
Using increasing sequences of real numbers, we generalize the idea of formal moment differentiation first introduced by W. Balser and M. Yoshino. Slight departure from the concept of Gevrey sequences enables us to include a wide variety of operators in our study. Basing our approach on tools such as the Newton polygon and divergent formal norms, we obtain estimates for formal solutions of certain families of generalized linear moment partial differential equations with constant and time variable coefficients.
We study the Cauchy problem for a general homogeneous linear partial differential equation in two complex variables with constant coefficients and with divergent initial data. We state necessary and sufficient conditions for the summability of formal power series solutions in terms of properties of divergent Cauchy data. We consider both the summability in one variable t (with coefficients belonging to some Banach space of Gevrey series with respect to the second variable z) and the summability in two variables (t,z). The results are presented in the general framework of moment-PDEs.
We study the Cauchy problem for a general inhomogeneous linear moment partial differential equation of two complex variables with constant coefficients, where the inhomogeneity is given by the formal power series. We state sufficient conditions for the convergence, analytic continuation and summability of formal power series solutions in terms of properties of the inhomogeneity. We consider both the summability in one variable t (with coefficients belonging to some Banach space of Gevrey series with respect to the second variable z) and the summability in two variables (t,z).
The analytic and formal solutions of certain family of $q$-difference-differential equations under the action of a complex perturbation parameter is considered. The previous study of the last two authors provides information in the case when the main equation under study is factorizable, as a product of two equations in the so-called normal form. Each of them gives rise to a single level of $q$-Gevrey asymptotic expansion. In the present work, the main problem under study does not suffer any factorization, and a different approach is followed. More precisely, we lean on the technique developed…
We investigate Gevrey order and 1-summability properties of the formal solution of a general heat equation in two variables. In particular, we give necessary and sufficient conditions for the 1-summability of the solution in a given direction. When restricted to the case of constants coefficients, these conditions coincide with those given by D.A. Lutz, M. Miyake, R. Schaefke in a 1999 article, and we thus provide a new proof of their result.
The concept of moment differentiation is extended to the class of moment summable functions, giving rise to moment differential properties. The main result leans on accurate upper estimates for the integral representation of the moment derivatives of functions under exponential-like growth at infinity, and appropriate deformation of the integration paths. The theory is applied to obtain summability results of certain family of generalized linear moment partial differential equations with variable coefficients.
Generalized summability results are obtained regarding formal solutions of certain families of linear moment integro-differential equations with time variable coefficients. The main result leans on the knowledge of the behavior of the moment derivatives of the elements involved in the problem. A refinement of the main result is also provided giving rise to more accurate results which remain valid in wide families of problems of high interest in practice, such as fractional integro-differential equations.
