In this paper, we determine spectral stability results of periodic waves for the critical Korteweg-de Vries and Gardner equations. For the first equation, we show that both positive and zero mean periodic traveling wave solutions possess a threshold value which may provides us a rupture in the spectral stability. Concerning the second equation, we establish the existence of periodic waves using a Galilean transformation on the periodic cnoidal solution for the modified Korteweg-de Vries equation and for both equations, the threshold values are the same. The main advantage presented in our paper concerns in solving some auxiliary initial value problems to obtain the spectral stability.
In this paper we will prove the existence of weak solutions to the Korteweg-de Vries initial value problem on the real line with H^{-1} initial data; moreover, we will study the problem of orbital and asymptotic H^{s} stability of solitons for integers s\ge -1; finally, we will also prove new a priori H^{-1} bounds for solutions to the Korteweg-de Vries equation. The paper will utilise the Miura transformation to link the Korteweg-de Vries equation to the modified Korteweg-de Vries equation.
We consider the Rosenau-Korteweg-de Vries-regularized long wave and Rosenau- Korteweg-de Vries equations, which contain nonlinear dispersive effects. We prove that, as the diffusion parameter tends to zero, the solutions of the dispersive equations converge to the unique entropy solution of a scalar conservation law. The proof relies on deriving suitable a priori estimates together with an application of the compensated compactness method in the L^p setting.

A dissipative term is incorporated into the control which, along with a propagation of regularity property, yields a smoothing effect permitting the application of the contraction principle.
Multi-soliton solutions of the Korteweg-de Vries equation (KdV) are shown to be globally L2-stable, and asymptotically stable in the sense of Martel-Merle. The proof is surprisingly simple and combines the Gardner transform, which links the Gardner and KdV equations, together with the Martel-Merle-Tsai and Martel-Merle recent results on stability and asymptotic stability in the energy space, applied this time to the Gardner equation. As a by-product, the results of Maddocks-Sachs and Merle-Vega are improved in several directions.

We are concerned with the decay of long time solutions of the initial value problem associated with the Schrödinger-Korteweg-de Vries system. We use recent techniques in order to show that solutions of this system decay to zero in the energy space. We consider a linear Korteweg-de Vries equation on a bounded domain with a left Dirichlet boundary control.The controllability to the trajectories of such a system was proved in the last decade by using Carleman estimates.Here, we go a step further by establishing the exact controllability in a space of analytic functions with the aid of the flatness approach.
We propose a model using the Korteweg-de Vries $(KdV)$ equation on a finite star-shaped network. We first prove the well-posedness of the system and give some regularity results. Then we prove that the energy of the solutions of the dissipative system decays exponentially to zero when the time tends to infinity. Lastly we show an exact boundary controllability result.

The aim of this work is to consider the controllability problem of the linear system associated to Korteweg-de Vries Burgers equation posed in the whole real line. We obtain a sort of exact controllability for solutions in $L^2_{loc}(\R^2)$ by deriving an internal observability inequality and a Global Carlemann estimate. Following the ideas contained in \cite{rosier2000}, the problem is reduced to prove an approximate theorem.
In this paper, we develop dispersive PDE techniques for the Fermi--Pasta--Ulam (FPU) system with infinitely many oscillators, and we show that general solutions to the infinite FPU system can be approximated by counter-propagating waves governed by the Korteweg--de Vries (KdV) equation as the lattice spacing approaches zero. Our result not only simplifies the hypotheses but also reduces the regularity requirement in the previous study [45].
This work is divided into two parts. First, we analyze the existence of positive bound and ground states for a second order stationary system coming from a coupled system of nonlinear Schrödinger--Korteweg-de Vries equations. Second, we extend these results for a higher order system of nonlinear Schrödinger--Korteweg-de Vries equations. Looking for "standing-traveling" waves we arrive at a bi-harmonic stationary system, for which we prove the existence and multiplicity of solutions under appropriate conditions on the parameters.
The present paper develops boundary output-feedback stabilization of the Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) equation with sensors and an actuator located at different boundaries (anti collocated set-up) using backstepping method. The feedback control law and output injection gains are found using the backstepping method for linear KdV equation. The proof of stability is based on construction of a strict Lyapunov functional which includes the observer states. A numerical simulation is presented to validate the result.
The initial-boundary value problem for the generalized Korteweg-de Vries equation on a half-line is studied by adapting the initial value techniques developed by Kenig, Ponce and Vega and Bourgain to the initial-boundary setting. The approach consists of replacing the initial-boundary problem by a forced initial value problem. The forcing is selected to satisfy the boundary condition by inverting a Riemann-Liouville fractional integral.
We prove weighted estimates on the linear KdV group, which are scaling sharp. This kind of estimates are in the spirit of that used to prove small data scattering for the generalized KdV equations.

In this paper, a viscous shock wave under space-periodic perturbation of generalized Korteweg-de Vries-Burgers equation is investigated. It is shown that if the initial periodic perturbation around the viscous shock wave is small, then the solution time asymptotically tends to a viscous shock wave with a shift partially determined by the periodic oscillations. Moreover the exponential time decay rate toward the viscous shock wave is also obtained for some certain perturbations.

In this paper, we study the orbital stability for a four-parameter family of periodic stationary traveling wave solutions to the generalized Korteweg-de Vries equation. We prove local existence and uniqueness of solutions of the focusing modified Korteweg - de Vries equation $u_t + u^2u_x + u_{xxx} = 0$ in classes of unbounded functions that admit an asymptotic expansion at infinity in decreasing powers of $x$. We show that an asymptotic solution differs from a genuine solution by a smooth function that is of Schwartz class with respect to $x$ and that solves a generalized version of the focusing mKdV equation. The latter equation is solved by discretization methods.

We consider the Cauchy problem for an equation of Korteweg-de Vries-Kawahara type with initial data in the analytic Gevrey spaces. By using linear, bilinear and trilinear estimates in analytic Bourgain spaces, we establish the local well-posedness for this problem. By using an approximate conservation law, we extend this to a global result in such a way that the radius of analyticity of solutions is uniformly bounded below by a fixed positive number for all time.

In this note we present a review of the main results about this topic and also introduce interesting open problems which still requires attention from the mathematical point of view.
We give the asymptotics of the Fourier transform of self-similar solutions to the modified Korteweg-de Vries equation, through a fixed point argument in weighted W^{1,\infty} around a carefully chosen, two term ansatz. We prove that the Korteweg-de Vries initial-value problem is globally well-posed in $H^{-3/4}(\R)$ and the modified Korteweg-de Vries initial-value problem is globally well-posed in $H^{1/4}(\R)$. The new ingredient is that we use directly the contraction principle to prove local well-posedness for KdV equation at $s=-3/4$ by constructing some special resolution spaces in order to avoid some 'logarithmic divergence' from the high-high interactions. In this article, we prove existence of a non-scattering solution, which is minimal in some sense, to the mass-subcritical generalized Korteweg-de Vries (gKdV) equation in the scale critical ^L^r space. We construct this solution by a concentration compactness argument. Then, key ingredients are a linear profile decomposition result adopted to ^L^r-framework and approximation of solutions to the gKdV equation which involves rapid linear oscillation by means of solutions to the nonlinear Schr"odinger equation.
The purpose of this paper is to study local and global well-posedness of initial value problem for generalized Korteweg-de Vries (gKdV) equation in ^L^r. We show (large data) local well-posedness, small data global well-posedness, and small data scattering for gKdV equation in the scale critical ^L^r space. A key ingredient is a Stein-Tomas type inequality for the Airy equation, which generalizes usual Strichartz estimates for ^L^r-framework.
This paper concerns the modified fractional Korteweg-de Vries (modified fKdV) and nonlinear Schrödinger (modified fNLS) equations, with the dispersions |D|^α\partial_x and |D|^{α+1}, respectively. We prove the global existence of small solutions for both the Cauchy problems to the modified fKdV and fNLS equations, with a modified scattering which has a logarithmic phase correction. Our results cover the full range -1<α<1, α\neq 0 for both the modified fKdV and fNLS equations.
In this paper we consider two numerical scheme based on trapezoidal rule in time for the linearized KdV equation in one space dimension. The goal is to derive some suitable artificial boundary conditions for these two full discretization using Z-transformation. We give some numerical benchmark examples from the literature to illustrate our findings.
We consider the KdV-Burgers equation and its linear version in presence of a delay feedback. We prove well-posedness of the models and exponential decay estimates under appropriate conditions on the damping coefficients. Our arguments rely on a Lyapunov functional approach combined with a step by step procedure and semigroup theory.
This article deals with the design of saturated controls in the context of partial differential equations. It is focused on a linear Korteweg-de Vries equation, which is a mathematical model of waves on shallow water surfaces. In this article, we close the loop with a saturating input that renders the equation nonlinear. The well-posedness is proven thanks to the nonlinear semigroup theory. The proof of the asymptotic stability of the closed-loop system uses a Lyapunov function.
In this paper we consider some dissipative versions of the modified Korteweg de Vries equation $u_t+u_{xxx}+|D_x|^αu+u^2u_x=0$ with $0<α\leq 3$. We prove some well-posedness results on the associated Cauchy problem in the Sobolev spaces $H^s({\Bbb R})$ for $s>1/4-α/4$ on the basis of the $[k; Z]-$multiplier norm estimate obtained by Tao in \cite{Tao} for KdV equation.

This work is concerned with special regularity properties of solutions to the $k$-generalized Korteweg-de Vries equation. In \cite{IsazaLinaresPonce} it was established that if the initial datun $u_0\in H^l((b,\infty))$ for some $l\in\mathbb Z^+$ and $b\in \mathbb R$, then the corresponding solution $u(\cdot,t)$ belongs to $H^l((β,\infty))$ for any $β\in \mathbb R$ and any $t\in (0,T)$. Our goal here is to extend this result to the case where $\,l\in \mathbb R^+$.

Considering the Cauchy problem for the modified Korteweg-de Vries-Burgers equation $u_t+u_{xxx}+ε|\partial_x|^{2α}u=2(u^{3})_x, u(0)=ϕ$, where $0<ε,α\leq 1$ and $u$ is a real-valued function, we show that it is uniformly globally well-posed in $H^s (s\geq1)$ for all $ε\in (0,1]$. Moreover, we prove that for any $s\geq 1$ and $T>0$, its solution converges in $C([0,T]; H^s)$ to that of the MKdV equation if $ε$ tends to 0.
We prove a first stability result of self-similar blow-up for the modified KdV equation on the line. More precisely, given a self-similar solution and a sufficiently small regular profile, there is a unique global solution which behaves at t tends to 0 as the sum of the self-similar solution and the smooth perturbation.
