The Cauchy problem for the system of equations of two-dimensional rotational gas dynamics is considered. It is assumed that the Cauchy data are a smooth compact perturbation of a constant state. Integral conditions for the data sufficient for the loss of smoothness by a solution within a finite time are found. We analyze the possibility of fulfilling these conditions and compare them with the criterion of singularity formation, known for rotational gas dynamics without pressure.

For the 1D non-isentropic polytropic gas dynamics equations we find sufficient and necessary conditions for blow up of derivatives in the terms of Cauchy data. In particular, the method allows to determine exact class of initial data corresponding to globally smooth in time solution.

Stable blow up dynamics for the critical co-rotational Wave Maps and equivariant Yang-Mills problems

We exhibit stable finite time blow up regimes for the energy critical co-rotational Wave Map with the S^2 target in all homotopy classes and for the critical equivariant SO(4) Yang-Mills problem. We derive sharp asymptotics on the dynamics at the blow up time and prove quantization of the energy focused at the singularity.

Exact solutions with singularities to ideal hydrodynamics of inelastic gases

We construct a large family of exact solutions to the hyperbolic system of 3 equations of ideal granular hydrodynamics in several dimensions for arbitrary adiabatic index $γ$. In dependence of initial conditions these solutions can keep smoothness for all times or develop singularity. In particular, in the 2D case the singularity can be formed either in a point or along a line. For $γ=-1$ the problem is reduced to the system of two equations, related to a special case of the Chaplygin gas. The Boltzmann equation near a rotational local Maxwellian

In rotationally symmetric domains, the Boltzmann equation with specular reflection boundary condition has a special type of equilibrium states called the rotational local Maxwellian which, unlike the uniform Maxwellian, has an additional term related to the angular momentum of the gas. In this paper, we consider the initial boundary value problem of the Boltzmann equation near the rotational local Maxwellian. An ES-BGK model for vibrational polyatomic gases

We propose an extension of the Ellipsoidal-Statistical BGK model to account for discrete levels of vibrational energy in a rarefied polyatomic gas. This model satisfies an H-theorem and contains parameters that allow to fit almost arbitrary values for the Prandtl number and the relaxation times of rotational and vibrational energies. With the reduced distribution technique , this model can be reduced to a three distribution system that could be used to simulate polyatomic gases with rotational and vibrational energy for a computational cost close to that of a simple monoatomic gas.

On the moving contact line singularity: Asymptotics of a diffuse-interface model

The behaviour of a solid-liquid-gas system near the three-phase contact line is considered using a diffuse-interface model with no-slip at the solid and where the fluid phase is specified by a continuous density field. Fermi Edge Resonances in Non-equilibrium States of Fermi Gases

We formulate the problem of the Fermi Edge Singularity in non-equilibrium states of a Fermi gas as a matrix Riemann-Hilbert problem with an integrable kernel.
