In the age of cloud computing, cloud users with limited storage can outsource their data to remote servers. These servers, in lieu of monetary benefits, offer retrievability of their clients' data at any point of time. Secure cloud storage protocols enable a client to check integrity of outsourced data. In this work, we explore the possibility of constructing a secure cloud storage for dynamic data by leveraging the algorithms involved in secure network coding. We show that some of the secure network coding schemes can be used to construct efficient secure cloud storage protocols for dynamic d…
With the rapidly changing technological realm, there is an urgent need to provide and protect the confidentiality of confidential images when stored in a cloud environment. To overcome the security risks associated with single cloud, multiple clouds offered by unrelated cloud providers have to be used. This paper outlines an integrated encryption scheme for the secure storage of confidential images on multiple clouds based on DNA sequences.
This research in progress paper describes the role of cyber security measures undertaken in an ICT system for integrating electric storage technologies into the grid. To do so, it defines security requirements for a communications gateway and gives detailed information and hands-on configuration advice on node and communication line security, data storage, coping with backend M2M communications protocols and examines privacy issues. The presented research paves the road for developing secure smart energy communications devices that allow enhancing energy efficiency. The described measures are …
Medical data involves a large amount of personal information and is highly privacy sensitive. In the age of big data, the increasing informatization of healthcare makes it vital that medical information is stored securely and accurately. However, current medical information is subject to the risk of privacy leakage and difficult to share. To address these issues, this paper proposes a healthcare information security storage solution based on Hyperledger Fabric and the Attribute-Based Access Control (ABAC) framework. The scheme first utilizes attribute-based access control, which allows dynamic…
Cloud computing enables users (clients) to outsource large volume of their data to cloud servers. Secure distributed cloud storage schemes ensure that multiple servers store these data in a reliable and untampered fashion. We propose an idea to construct such a scheme for static data by encoding data blocks (using error-correcting codes) and then attaching authentication information (tags) to these encoded blocks. We identify some challenges while extending this idea to accommodate append-only data. Then, we propose our secure distributed cloud storage scheme for append-only data that addresse…
Supply chain finance(SCF) is committed to providing credit for small and medium-sized enterprises(SMEs) with low credit lines and small financing scales. The resulting financial credit data and related business transaction data are highly confidential and private. However, traditional SCF management schemes mostly use third-party platforms and centralized designs, which cannot achieve highly reliable secure storage and fine-grained access control. To fill this gap, this paper designs and implements Fabric-SCF, a secure storage and access control system based on blockchain and attribute-based a…
In a Public Safety (PS) situation, agents may require critical and personally identifiable information. Therefore, not only does context and location-aware information need to be available, but also the privacy of such information should be preserved. Existing solutions do not address such a problem in a PS environment. This paper proposes a framework in which anonymized Personal Information (PI) is accessible to authorized public safety agents under a PS circumstance. In particular, we propose a secure data storage structure along with privacy-preserving mobile search framework, suitable for …
This paper presents a multi-platform, open-source application that aims to protect data stored and shared in existing cloud storage services. The access to the cryptographic material used to protect data is implemented using the identification and authentication functionalities of national electronic identity (eID) tokens. All peer to peer dialogs to exchange cryptographic material is implemented using the cloud storage facilities. Furthermore, we have included a set of mechanisms to prevent files from being permanently lost or damaged due to concurrent modification, deletion and malicious tam…
Privacy of the outsourced data is one of the major challenge.Insecurity of the network environment and untrustworthiness of the service providers are obstacles of making the database as a service.Collection and storage of personally identifiable information is a major privacy concern.On-line public databases and resources pose a significant risk to user privacy, since a malicious database owner may monitor user queries and infer useful information about the customer. The challenge in data privacy is to share data with third-party and at the same time securing the valuable information from unaut…
Cloud computing is often utilized for file storage. Clients of cloud storage services want to ensure the privacy of their data, and both clients and servers want to use as little storage as possible. Cross-user deduplication is one method to reduce the amount of storage a server uses. Deduplication and privacy are naturally conflicting goals, especially for nearly-identical (``fuzzy'') deduplication, as some information about the data must be used to perform deduplication. Prior solutions thus utilize multiple servers, or only function for exact deduplication. In this paper, we present a singl…
The demand for cloud computing is increasing because of the popularity of digital devices and the wide use of the Internet. Among cloud computing services, most consumers use cloud storage services that provide mass storage. This is because these services give them various additional functions as well as storage. It is easy to access cloud storage services using smartphones. With increasing utilization, it is possible for malicious users to abuse cloud storage services. Therefore, a study on digital forensic investigation of cloud storage services is necessary. This paper proposes new procedur…
In this letter we propose Meta-key, a data-sharing mechanism that enables users share their encrypted data under a blockchain-based decentralized storage architecture. All the data-encryption keys are encrypted by the owner's public key and put onto the blockchain for safe and secure storage and easy key-management. Encrypted data are stored in dedicated storage nodes and proxy re-encryption mechanism is used to ensure secure data-sharing in the untrusted environment. Security analysis of our model shows that the proxy re-encryption adopted in our system is naturally free from collusion-attack…
In this paper we define the overflow problem of a network coding storage system in which the encoding parameter and the storage parameter are mismatched. Through analyses and experiments, we first show the impacts of the overflow problem in a network coding scheme, which not only waste storage spaces, but also degrade coding efficiency. To avoid the overflow problem, we then develop the network coding based secure storage (NCSS) scheme. Thanks to considering both security and storage requirements in encoding procedures and distributed architectures, the NCSS can improve the performance of a cl…
An increasing amount of sensitive information today is stored electronically and a substantial part of this information (e.g., health records, tax data, legal documents) must be retained over long time periods (e.g., several decades or even centuries). When sensitive data is stored, then integrity and confidentiality must be protected to ensure reliability and privacy. Commonly used cryptographic schemes, however, are not designed for protecting data over such long time periods. Recently, the first storage architecture combining long-term integrity with long-term confidentiality protection was…
Most critical sensor readings (Top-k Monitoring) in environment monitoring system are important to many wireless sensor applications. In such applications, sensor nodes transmit the data continuously for a specific time period to the storage nodes. It is responsible for transferring the received results to the Authority on Top-k Query request from them. Dummy data's were added into the original text data to secure the data against adversary in case of hacking the sensor and storage nodes. If storage node gets hacked by adversary, false details will be sent to the authority. An effective techni…
While personal cloud storage services such as Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive and iCloud have become very popular in recent years, these services offer few security guarantees to users. These cloud services are aimed at end users, whose applications often assume a local file system storage, and thus require strongly consistent data. In addition, users usually access these services using personal computers and portable devices such as phones and tablets, which are upload bandwidth constrained and in many cases battery powered. Unity is a system that provides confidentiality, integrity, durabili…
With the development of sensor network, mobile computing, and web applications, data are now collected from many distributed sources to form big datasets. Such datasets can be hosted in the cloud to achieve economical processing. However, these data might be highly sensitive requiring secure storage and processing. We envision a cloud-based data storage and processing framework that enables users to economically and securely share and handle big datasets. Under this framework, we study the matrix-based data mining algorithms with a focus on the secure top-k eigenvector algorithm. Our approach …
In our proposed work we mainly focus on data security of tenants so that only the authorized user can access the data. To provide this feature we use encryption and decryption process of data so that the only legal tenant can access their particular data. Hence, for security related to data of tenants we implement AES (advanced encryption standard) using cloud SQL. The result obtained from experimental methodology proved that AES gives protection for the data stored in the cloud. We make use of AES algorithm and Google App Engine to supply secured data storage, efficiency, assure availability …
Cloud storage services such as Dropbox, Box and SugarSync have been embraced by both individuals and organizations. This creates an environment that is potentially conducive to security breaches and malicious activities. The investigation of these cloud environments presents new challenges for the digital forensics community. It is anticipated that smartphone devices will retain data from these storage services. Hence, this research presents a preliminary investigation into the residual artifacts created on an iOS and Android device that has accessed a cloud storage service. The contribution o…
With the advent of cloud technologies, there is a growing number of easy-to-use services to store files and share them with other cloud users. By providing security features, cloud service providers try to encourage users to store personal files or corporate documents on their servers. However, their server-side encryption solutions are not satisfactory when the server itself is not trusted. Although, there are several client-side solutions to provide security for cloud sharing, they are not used extensively because of usability issues in key management. In this paper, we propose TwinCloud whi…
The 21st century belongs to the world of computing, specially as a result of the so-called cloud computing. This technology enables ubiquitous information management and thus people can access all their data from any place and at any time. In this landscape, the emergence of cloud storage has had an important role in the last five years. Nowadays, several free-access public cloud storage services make it possible for users to have a free backup of their assets and to manage and share them, representing a low-cost opportunity for Small and Medium Companies (SME). However, the adoption of cloud …
Go to the cloud, has always been the dream of man. Cloud Computing offers a number of benefits and services to its customers who pay the use of hardware and software resources (servers hosted in data centers, applications, software...) on demand which they can access via internet without the need of expensive computers or a large storage system capacity and without paying any equipment maintenance fees. But these cloud providers must provide guarantees on the protection of privacy and sensitive data stored in their data centers shared between multiple clients using the concept of virtualizatio…
Due to the flexibility, affordability and portability of cloud storage, individuals and companies envisage the cloud storage as one of the preferred storage media nowadays. This attracts the eyes of cyber criminals, since much valuable informa- tion such as user credentials, and private customer records are stored in the cloud. There are many ways for criminals to compromise cloud services; ranging from non-technical attack methods, such as social engineering, to deploying advanced malwares. Therefore, it is vital for cyber forensics examiners to be equipped and informed about best methods for…
There is a growing demand for cloud storage services such as Dropbox, Box, Syncplicity and SugarSync. These public cloud storage services can store gigabytes of corporate and personal data in remote data centres around the world, which can then be synchronized to multiple devices. This creates an environment which is potentially conducive to security incidents, data breaches and other malicious activities. The forensic investigation of public cloud environments presents a number of new challenges for the digital forensics community. However, it is anticipated that end-devices such as smartphon…
The Cloud has become a new Information Technology(IT) model for delivering resources such as computing and storage to customers on demand, it provides both high flexibility and resources use. However we are gaining these advantages at the cost of high security threats, which presents the major brake for the migration towards Cloud Computing. Cloud Data Storage(CDS) is one of the Cloud services, it allows users to store their data in the Cloud, this service is very useful for companies and individuals, but data security remains the problem which makes customers worried about their data that res…
In recent years, cloud storage technology has been widely used in many fields such as education, business, medical and more because of its convenience and low cost. With the widespread applications of cloud storage technology, data access control methods become more and more important in cloud-based network. The ciphertext policy attribute-based encryption (CP-ABE) scheme is very suitable for access control of data in cloud storage. However, in many practical scenarios, all attributes of a user cannot be managed by one authority, so many multi-authority CP-ABE schemes have emerged. Moreover, c…
The pervasive nature of cloud-enabled big data storage solutions introduces new challenges in the identification, collection, analysis, preservation and archiving of digital evidences. Investigation of such complex platforms to locate and recover traces of criminal activities is a time-consuming process. Hence, cyber forensics researchers are moving towards streamlining the investigation process by locating and documenting residual artefacts (evidences) of forensic value of users activities on cloud-enabled big data platforms in order to reduce the investigation time and resources involved in …
With the rapid development of the Internet of things (IoT), more and more IoT devices are connected and communicate frequently. In this background, the traditional centralized security architecture of IoT will be limited in terms of data storage space, data reliability, scalability, operating costs and liability judgment. In this paper, we propose an new key information storage framework based on a small distributed database generated by blockchain technology and cloud storage. Specifically, all encrypted key communication data will be upload to public could server for enough storage, but the …
In today society where we live in a world of constant connectivity, many people are now looking to cloud services in order to store their files so they can have access to them wherever they are. By using cloud services, users can access files anywhere with an internet connection. However, while cloud storage is convenient, it also presents security risks. From a forensics perspective, the increasing popularity of cloud storage platforms, makes investigation into such exploits much more difficult, especially since many platforms such as mobile devices as well as computers are able to use these …
With the rapid development of general cloud services, more and more individuals or collectives use cloud platforms to store data. Assured data deletion deserves investigation in cloud storage. In time-sensitive data storage scenarios, it is necessary for cloud platforms to automatically destroy data after the data owner-specified expiration time. Therefore, assured timesensitive data deletion should be sought. In this paper, a finegrained assured time-sensitive data deletion (ATDD) scheme in cloud storage is proposed by embedding the time trapdoor in Ciphertext-Policy Attribute-Based Encryptio…
Linear Regression (LR) is a classical machine learning algorithm which has many applications in the cyber physical social systems (CPSS) to shape and simplify the way we live, work and communicate. This paper focuses on the data analysis for CPSS when the Linear Regression is applied. The training process of LR is time-consuming since it involves complex matrix operations, especially when it gets a large scale training dataset In the CPSS. Thus, how to enable devices to efficiently perform the training process of the Linear Regression is of significant importance. To address this issue, in thi…
Cloud storage provides the simpler way to share the files privately and publicly. A good Cloud Storage Provider (SCP) is not only measured by the access speed or file size that can be shared to others, but also regarding the security issues in file sharing itself. In this paper, we analyze the security of file sharing in 3 Chinese CSPs, which are: Baidu, Weiyun and Kanbox. Those CSPs have their own vulnerabilities that successfully revealed. We also provide some suggestions to countermeasure the weaknesses so that they can maintain the quality while improving the security.
We present sec-cs, a hash-table-like data structure for file contents on untrusted storage that is both secure and storage-efficient. We achieve authenticity and confidentiality with zero storage overhead using deterministic authenticated encryption. State-of-the-art data deduplication approaches prevent redundant storage of shared parts of different contents irrespective of whether relationships between contents are known a priori or not. Instead of just adapting existing approaches, we introduce novel (multi-level) chunking strategies, ML-SC and ML-CDC, which are significantly more storage-e…
Passwords are widely used for client to server authentication as well as for encrypting data stored in untrusted environments, such as cloud storage. Both, authentication and encrypted cloud storage, are usually discussed in isolation. In this work, we propose AuthStore, a flexible authentication framework that allows users to securely reuse passwords for authentication as well as for encrypted cloud storage at a single or multiple service providers. Users can configure how secure passwords are protected using password stretching techniques. We present a compact password-authenticated key exch…
Cyber physical systems (CPS) are mission critical systems engineered by combination of cyber and physical systems respectively. These systems are tightly coupled, resource constrained systems and have dynamic real time applications. Due to the limitation of resources, and in order to improve the efficiency of the CPS systems, they are combined with cloud computing architecture, and are called as Cyber Physical Cloud Computing Systems (CPCCS). These CPCCS have critical care applications where security of the systems is a major concern. Therefore, we propose a Secure Service provisioning archite…
Cloud computing is a revolutionary concept that has brought a paradigm shift in the IT world. This has made it possible to manage and run businesses without even setting up an IT infrastructure. It offers multi-fold benefits to the users moving to a cloud, while posing unknown security and privacy issues. User authentication is one such growing concern and is greatly needed in order to ensure privacy and security in a cloud computing environment. This paper discusses the security at different levels viz. network, application and virtualization, in a cloud computing environment. A security fram…
Mobile phones have been playing a very significant role in our daily activities for the last decade. With the increase need for these devices, people are now more reliant on their smartphone applications for their daily tasks and many prefer to save their mobile data on a cloud platform to access them anywhere on any device. Cloud technology is the new way for better data storage, as it offers better security, more flexibility, and mobility. Many smartphones have been investigated as subjects, objects or tools of the crime. Many of these investigations include analysing data stored through clo…
Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) attackers apply multiple sophisticated methods to continuously and stealthily steal information from the targeted cloud storage systems and can even induce the storage system to apply a specific defense strategy and attack it accordingly. In this paper, the interactions between an APT attacker and a defender allocating their Central Processing Units (CPUs) over multiple storage devices in a cloud storage system are formulated as a Colonel Blotto game. The Nash equilibria (NEs) of the CPU allocation game are derived for both symmetric and asymmetric CPUs between…
We present CDStore, which disperses users' backup data across multiple clouds and provides a unified multi-cloud storage solution with reliability, security, and cost-efficiency guarantees. CDStore builds on an augmented secret sharing scheme called convergent dispersal, which supports deduplication by using deterministic content-derived hashes as inputs to secret sharing. We present the design of CDStore, and in particular, describe how it combines convergent dispersal with two-stage deduplication to achieve both bandwidth and storage savings and be robust against side-channel attacks. We eva…
In the secure group communication, data is transmitted in such a way that only the group members are able to receive the messages. The main problem in the solution using symmetric key is heavy re-keying cost. To reduce re-keying cost tree based architecture is used. But it requires extra overhead to balance the key- tree in order to achieve logarithmic re-keying cost. The main challenging issue in dynamic and secure multimedia multicast communication is to design a centralized group key management scheme with minimal computational, communicational and storages complexities without breaching se…
Cloud computing is a term coined to a network that offers incredible processing power, a wide array of storage space and unbelievable speed of computation. Social media channels, corporate structures and individual consumers are all switching to the magnificent world of cloud computing. The flip side to this coin is that with cloud storage emerges the security issues of confidentiality, data integrity and data availability. Since the cloud is a mere collection of tangible super computers spread across the world, authentication and authorization for data access is more than a necessity. Our wor…
Cloud computing has become a potential resource for businesses and individuals to outsource their data to remote but highly accessible servers. However, potentials of the cloud services have not been fully unleashed due to users' concerns about security and privacy of their data in the cloud. User-side encryption techniques can be employed to mitigate the security concerns. Nonetheless, once the data in encrypted, no processing (e.g., searching) can be performed on the outsourced data. Searchable Encryption (SE) techniques have been widely studied to enable searching on the data while they are…
Privacy Security of data in Cloud Storage is one of the main issues. Many Frameworks and Technologies are used to preserve data security in cloud storage. [1] Proposes a framework which includes the design of data organization structure, the generation and management of keys, the treatment of change of user's access right and dynamic operations of data, and the interaction between participants. It also design an interactive protocol and an extirpation-based key derivation algorithm, which are combined with lazy revocation, it uses multi-tree structure and symmetric encryption to form a privacy…
Secure and privacy-preserving management of Personal Health Records (PHRs) has proved to be a major challenge in modern healthcare. Current solutions generally do not offer patients a choice in where the data is actually stored and also rely on at least one fully trusted element that patients must also trust with their data. In this work, we present the Health Access Broker (HAB), a patient-controlled service for secure PHR sharing that (a) does not impose a specific storage location (uniquely for a PHR system), and (b) does not assume any of its components to be fully secure against adversari…
Cloud computing systems, in which clients rent and share computing resources of third party platforms, have gained widespread use in recent years. Furthermore, cloud computing for mobile systems (i.e., systems in which the clients are mobile devices) have too been receiving considerable attention in technical literature. We propose a new method of delegating computations of resource-constrained mobile clients, in which multiple servers interact to construct an encrypted program known as garbled circuit. Next, using garbled inputs from a mobile client, another server executes this garbled circu…
