We have analyzed AstroSat observations of the galactic micro-quasar system GRS 1915+105, when the system exhibited C-type Quasi-periodic Oscillations (QPOs) in the frequency range of 3.4-5.4 Hz. The broad band spectra (1-50 keV) obtained from simultaneous LAXPC and SXT can be well described by a dominant relativistic truncated accretion disk along with thermal Comptonization and reflection. We find that while the QPO frequency depends on the inner radii with a large scatter, a much tighter correlation is obtained when both the inner radii and accretion rate of the disk are taken into account. In fact, the frequency varies just as the dynamic frequency (i.e. the inverse of the sound crossing time) as predicted decades ago by the relativistic standard accretion disk theory for a black hole with spin parameter of ~0.9. We show that this identification has been possible due to the simultaneous broad band spectral coverage with temporal information as obtained from AstroSat.
We report a timing analysis of the black hole binary GRS 1915+105 with the NuSTAR observatory. A strong type-C QPO below 2 Hz appears in the power density spectrum during the whole observation, whose frequency is correlated with the 3-25 keV count rate. The QPO shows a sudden increase in frequency along with an increase in flux and a softening of the spectrum. We discuss the possible origin of the QPO and the reasons that lead to the QPO frequency variation. It is suggested that the reflection component has little influence on QPO frequency and the increase in QPO frequency could be associated…
A generic model for alternating lags in QPO harmonics is presented where variations in the photon spectrum are caused by oscillations in two parameters that characterize the spectrum. It is further assumed that variations in one of the parameters is linearly driven by variations in the other after a time delay $t_d$. It is shown that alternating lags will be observed for a range of $t_d$ values. A phenomenological model based on this generic one is developed which can explain the amplitude and phase lag variation with energy of the fundamental and the next three harmonics of the 67 mHz QPO obs…
We propose a simple toy model to explain the 2:3:6 QPO structure in GRS 1915+105 and, more generally, the 2:3 QPO structure in XTE J1550-564, GRO J1655-40, and H 1743-322. The model exploits the onset of subharmonics in the context of diskoseismology. We suggest that the observed frequencies may be the consequence of a resonance between a fundamental g-mode and an unobservable p-wave. The results include the prediction that, as better data become available, a QPO with a frequency of twice the higher twin frequency and a large quality factor will be observed in twin peak sources, as it might al…
It is widely believed that the low frequency quasi-periodic X-ray oscillations observed in microquasars are correlated to, but do not originate at, the physical radius of the inner edge of the accretion disk. Models relating the QPO frequency and color radius are hindered by observations showing contradicting trend correlations between the microquasars GRO 1655-40, XTE J1550-564 and GRS 1915+105. The first shows a negative correlation and the latter two a positive one. By taking into account relativistic rotation in the accretion disk, the Accretion-Ejection Instability (AEI) model predicts a …
Most models of the low frequency quasi periodic oscillations (QPOs) in low-mass X-ray binaries (LMXBs) explain the dynamical properties of those QPOs. On the other hand, in recent years reverberation models that assume a lamp-post geometry have been successfull in explaining the energy-dependent time lags of the broad-band noise component in stellar mass black-holes and active galactic nuclei. We have recently shown that Comptonisation can explain the spectral-timing properties of the kilo-hertz (kHz) QPOs observed in neutron star (NS) LMXBs. It is therefore worth exploring whether the same fa…
Systematically studying all the RXTE/PCA observations for GRS 1915+105 before November 2010, we have discovered three additional patterns in the relation between Quasi-Periodic Oscillation (QPO) frequency and photon energy, extending earlier outcomes reported by Qu et al. (2010). We have confirmed that as QPO frequency increases, the relation evolves from the negative correlation to positive one. The newly discovered patterns provide new constraints on the QPO models.
We present a model-independent analysis of the short-timescale energy dependence of low frequency quasi-periodic oscillations (QPOs) in the X-ray flux of GRS 1915+105. The QPO frequency in this source has previously been observed to depend on photon energy, with the frequency increasing with energy for observations with a high ($\gtrsim 2$ Hz) QPO frequency, and decreasing with energy for observations with a low ($\lesssim 2$ Hz) QPO frequency. As this observed energy dependence is currently unexplained, we investigate if it is intrinsic to the QPO mechanism by tracking phase lags on (sub)seco…
We present a systematic analysis of the phase lags associated with the type-C QPOs in GRS 1915+105 using RXTE data. Our sample comprises of 620 RXTE observations with type-C QPOs ranging from ~0.4 Hz to ~6.3 Hz. Based on our analysis, we confirm that the QPO phase lags decrease with QPO frequency, and change sign from positive to negative at a QPO frequency of ~2 Hz. In addition, we find that the slope of this relation is significantly different between QPOs below and above 2 Hz. The relation between the QPO lags and QPO rms can be well fitted with a broken line: as the QPO lags go from negati…
X-ray radiation from black hole binary (BHB) systems regularly displays quasi-periodic oscillations (QPOs). In principle, a number of suggested physical mechanisms can reproduce their power spectral properties, thus more powerful diagnostics which preserve phase are required to discern between different models. In this paper, we first find for two Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer (RXTE) observations of the BHB GRS 1915+105 that the QPO has a well defined average waveform. That is, the phase difference and amplitude ratios between the first two harmonics vary tightly around a well defined mean. This…
GRS 1915+105 can show type-C quasi-periodic oscillations (QPOs) in the power density spectrum. A high-frequency QPO (HFQPO) at 67 Hz has been observed in this source, albeit less often than the type-C QPOs. Besides these features, GRS 1915+105 sometimes shows a broad bump in the power spectrum at around 30-150 Hz. We study the power spectra of GRS 1915+105 with the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer when the source was in the $χ$ class. We find that the rms amplitude of the bump depends strongly upon both the frequency of the type-C QPO and the hardness ratio, and is correlated with the corona temper…
We present a study of the centroid frequencies and phase lags of the quasi-periodic oscillations (QPOs) as functions of photon energy for GRS 1915+105. It is found that the centroid frequencies of the 0.5-10 Hz QPOs and their phase lags are both energy dependent, and there exists an anti-correlation between the QPO frequency and phase lag. These new results challenge the popular QPO models, because none of them can fully explain the observed properties. We suggest that the observed QPO phase lags are partially due to the variation of the QPO frequency with energy, especially for those with fre…
The low frequency quasi periodic oscillations (QPOs) are commonly observed during hard states of black hole binaries. Several studies have established various observational/empirical correlations between spectral parameters and QPO properties, indicating a close link between the two. However, the exact mechanism of generation of QPO is not yet well understood. In this paper, we present our attempts to comprehend the connection between the spectral components and the low frequency QPO observed in GRS 1915+105 using the data from NuSTAR. Detailed spectral modeling as well as the presence of the …
We present the results of bicoherence analysis on observations of GRS 1915+105 that exhibit quasi-periodic oscillations (QPOs). The bicoherence is a higher order statistic that can be used to probe the relation between the phases of a triplet of Fourier frequencies. Despite showing very similar power spectra, the observations exhibit different patterns in their bicoherence, indicating that the QPOs are phase coupled to the noise in different ways. We show that the bicoherence pattern exhibited correlates with the frequency of the QPO, the hardness ratio, as well as the radio properties of the …
Quasi-periodic oscillations (QPOs) are often present in the X-ray flux from accreting stellar-mass black holes (BHs). If they are due to relativistic (Lense-Thirring) precession of an inner accretion flow which is misaligned with the disc, the iron emission line caused by irradiation of the disc by the inner flow will rock systematically between red and blue shifted during each QPO cycle. Here we conduct phase-resolved spectroscopy of a $\sim2.2$ Hz type-C QPO from the BH X-ray binary GRS 1915+105, observed simultaneously with NICER and NuSTAR. We apply a tomographic model in order to constrai…
Compelling evidence of a link between the lags of the quasi-periodic oscillations and the radio jet in the black-hole X-ray binary GRS 1915+105

The evolution of the C-type low frequency quasi-periodic oscillations (LFQPOs) and associated time lag in transient black hole sources as a function of time can be explained by variation of the Compton cloud size in a Two Component Advective Flow solution (TCAF). A similar study of a persistent source, GRS~1915+105, has not been attempted. We fit the evolution of QPOs with propagatory oscillating shock (POS) solution for two sets of so-called $χ$-state observations and find that the shock steadily recedes with almost constant velocity when QPO frequency is decreasing and the spectrum is harden…
A statistical study was made on both the energy dependence of the low-frequency quasi-periodic oscillation (QPO) amplitude (LFQPO amplitude spectrum) and the LFQPO amplitude from all the RXTE observations of GRS 1915+105. Based on the two-branch correlation of the LFQPO frequency and the hardness ratio, the observations that were suitable for evaluating the LFQPO amplitude spectrum were divided into two groups. According to a comparison between the radio and X-ray emissions, we deduced that the jets during the two groups of observations are very different. A negative correlation between the LF…
We investigate the complex behavior of energy- and frequency-dependent time/phase lags in the plateau state and the radio-quiet hard state of GRS 1915+105. In our timing analysis, we find that when the source is faint in the radio, QPOs are observed above 2 Hz and typically exhibit soft lags (soft photons lag hard photons), whereas QPOs in the radio-bright plateau state are found below 2.2 Hz and consistently show hard lags. The phase lag at the QPO frequency is strongly anti-correlated with the QPO frequency, changing sign at 2.2 Hz. However, the phase lag at the frequency of the first harmon…
Using the Insight-HXMT observations of GRS 1915+105 when it exhibits low frequency quasi-periodic oscillations (QPOs), we measure the evolution of the QPO frequency along with disk inner radius and mass accretion rate. We find a tight positive correlation between the QPO frequency and mass accretion rate. Our results extend the finding of previous work with AstroSat to a larger range of accretion rate with independent instruments and observations. Treating the QPO frequency of GRS 1915+105 as the relativistic dynamic frequency of a truncated disk, we are able to confirm the high spin nature of…
In this work, we present a $\sim$90 ks continuous monitoring of the Galactic micro-quasar GRS 1915+105 with AstroSat when the source undergoes a major transition from a non-variable, $χ$ class (similar to radio-quiet $χ$ class) to a structured, large amplitude, periodic heartbeat state (similar to $ρ$ class). We show that such transition takes place via an intermediate state when the large-amplitude, irregular variability of the order of hundreds of seconds in the soft X-ray band turned into a 100-150 sec regular, structured, nearly periodic flares. The properties of a strong low-frequency qua…

We report a discovery of low-frequency quasi periodic oscillation at 0.3-0.7 Hz in the power spectra of the accreting black hole GRS1739-278 in the hard-intermediate state during its 2014 outburst based on the ${\it NuSTAR}$ and Swift/XRT data. The QPO frequency strongly evolved with the source flux during the NuSTAR observation. The source spectrum became softer with rising QPO frequency and simultaneous increasing of the power-law index and decreasing of the cut-off energy. In the power spectrum, a prominent harmonic is clearly seen together with the main QPO peak. The fluxes in the soft and…

The active galactic nucleus (AGN) RE J1034+396 displays the most significant X-ray Quasi-Periodic Oscillation (QPO) detected so far. We perform a detailed spectral-timing analysis of our recent simultaneous XMM-Newton, NuSTAR and Swift observations. We present the energy dependence of the QPO's frequency, rms, coherence and phase lag, and model them together with the time-averaged spectra. Our study shows that four components are required to fit all the spectra. These components include an inner disc component (diskbb), two warm corona components (CompTT-1 and CompTT-2), and a hot corona compo…
We measured the phase-lag spectrum of the high-frequency quasi-periodic oscillations (QPO) in the black hole systems (at QPO frequencies) GRS 1915+105 (35 Hz and 67 Hz), GRO J1655-40 (300 Hz and 450 Hz), XTE J1550-564 (180 Hz and 280 Hz), and IGR J17091-3624 (67 Hz). The lag spectra of the 67-Hz QPO in, respectively, GRS 1915+105 and IGR J17091-3624, and the 450-Hz QPO in GRO J1655-40 are hard (hard photons lag the soft ones) and consistent with each other, with the hard lags increasing with energy. On the contrary, the lags of the 35-Hz QPO in GRS 1915+105 are soft, with the lags becoming sof…

Shanghai Astronomical Observatory, Chinese Academy of Sciences(中国科学院上海天文台);Chinese Academy of Sciences, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences(中国科学院,中国科学院大学)
The inverse Compton process by which soft photons are up-scattered by hot electrons in a corona plays a fundamental role in shaping the X-ray spectra of black-hole (BH) low-mass X-ray binaries (LMXBs), particularly in the hard and hard-intermediate states. In these states, the power-density spectra of these sources typically show Type-C low-frequency quasi-periodic oscillations (QPOs). Although several models have been proposed to explain the dynamical origin of their frequency, only a few of those models predict the spectral-timing radiative properties of the QPOs. Here we study the physical …
We present a comprehensive temporal and spectral analysis of the 'softer' variability classes ($i.e.$, $θ$, $β$, $δ$, $ρ$, $κ$, $ω$ and $γ$) of the source GRS 1915+105 observed by AstroSat during $2016-2021$ campaign. Wide-band ($3-60$ keV) timing studies reveal the detection of High Frequency Quasi-periodic Oscillations (HFQPOs) with frequency of $68.14-72.32$ Hz, significance of $2.75-11 σ$, and rms amplitude of $1.48-2.66\%$ in $δ$, $κ$, $ω$ and $γ$ variability classes. Energy dependent power spectra impart that HFQPOs are detected only in $6-25$ keV energy band and rms amplitude is found t…
We present the first quick look analysis of data from nine {\it AstroSat}'s LAXPC observations of GRS 1915+105 during March 2016 when the source had the characteristics of being in Radio-quiet $χ$ class. We find that a simple empirical model of a disk blackbody emission, with Comptonization and a broad Gaussian Iron line can fit the time averaged 3--80 keV spectrum with a systematic uncertainty of 1.5\% and a background flux uncertainty of 4\%. A simple deadtime-corrected Poisson noise level spectrum matches well with the observed high frequency power spectra till 50 kHz and as expected the da…
From the analysis of more than 92 ks of data obtained with the laxpc instrument on board Astrosat we have detected a clear high-frequency QPO whose frequency varies between 67.4 and 72.3 Hz. In the classification of variability classes of GRS 1915+105, at the start of the observation period the source was in class omega and at the end the variability was that of class mu: both classes are characterized by the absence of hard intervals and correspond to disk-dominated spectra. After normalization to take into account time variations of the spectral properties as measured by X-ray hardness, the …
We perform a comparative spectro-temporal analysis on the variability classes of GRS 1915+105 and IGR J17091-3624 to draw inferences regarding the underlying accretion flow mechanism. The $ν$, as well as C2 class Rossi X-Ray Timing Explorer observation, have been considered for analysis. We investigate the intensity variation of the source in different energy domains that correspond to different components of the accretion flow and infer the relative dominance of these flow components during the dip/flare events. We correlate the dependence of the dynamic photon index ($Θ$) with intensities in…
We report the discovery of 8.5 sigma high-frequency quasi-periodic oscillations (HFQPOs) at 66 Hz in the RXTE data of the black hole candidate IGR J17091-3624, a system whose X-ray properties are very similar to those of microquasar GRS 1915+105. The centroid frequency of the strongest peak is ~66 Hz, its quality factor above 5 and its rms is between 4 and 10%. We found a possible additional peak at 164 Hz when selecting a subset of data; however, at 4.5 sigma level we consider this detection marginal. These QPOs have hard spectrum and are stronger in observations performed between September a…
Variable features in black hole X-ray Binaries (BH-XRBs) are observed in different energy ranges and time scales. The physical origin of different spectral states in BH-XRBs and their relations with the underlying accretion disc are still elusive. To investigate the intermediate state of BH-XRBs during outburst, we simulate a truncated accretion disc around a Kerr black hole using a general relativistic magneto-hydrodynamical (GRMHD) framework under axisymmetry with adaptively refined mesh. Additionally, we have also carried out radiative transfer calculations for understanding the implication…
A Phase-resolved View of Millihertz Quasi-periodic Oscillations in the Ultraluminous X-ray Source M51 ULX-7: Evidence for a Magnetically Truncated Disk and Geometrical Beaming
The Galactic microquasar GRS 1915+105 shows rich variability which is categorized into different classes. In this paper, we report temporal and spectral analysis of GRS 1915+105 to study the properties of the accretion flow when the light curve is showing $θ$ class variability. For this purpose, we use the LAXPC data from the Target of Opportunity observations of India's first multi-wavelength astronomy satellite AstroSat. The $θ$ class is marked by the recurrent appearance of U-shaped regions in the light curve, where the photon count rate first decreases rapidly and then increases slowly. Fo…
IGR J17091--3624 is a transient galactic black hole which has a distinct quasi-periodic variability known as `heartbeat', similar to the one observed in GRS 1915+105. In this paper, we report the results of $\sim 125$ ks \textit{AstroSat} observations of this source during the 2016 outburst. For the first time a double peaked QPO (DPQ) is detected in a few time segments of this source with a difference of $δf ~\sim12$ mHz between the two peaks. The nature of the DPQ was studied based on hardness ratios and using the static as well as the dynamic power spectrum. Additionally, a low frequency (2…
Previous analysis of AstroSat observations of the black hole system MAXI J1535-571, have revealed the presence of a strong Quasi-Periodic Oscillation (QPO) whose frequency is correlated with the high energy spectral index. Here, we fit the spectra as emitted from a truncated disc with an inner hot corona, study the QPO frequency dependence on other spectral parameters and model the energy dependent r.m.s and time-lag of the QPO to identify the physical spectral parameters whose variation are responsible for the QPO. The QPO frequency is found to also correlate with the scattering fraction (i.e…
A possible model of twin high-frequency QPOs (HF QPOs) of microquasars is examined. The disk is assumed to have global magnetic fields and to be deformed with a two-armed pattern. In this deformed disk, set of a two-armed ($m=2$) vertical p-mode oscillation and an axisymmetric ($m=0$) g-mode oscillation are considered. They resonantly interact through the disk deformation when their frequencies are the same. This resonant interaction amplifies the set of the above oscillations in the case where these two oscillations have wave energies of opposite signs. These oscillations are assumed to be ex…
We explore the influence of non-geodesic pressure forces that are present in an accretion disk on the frequencies of its axisymmetric and non-axisymmetric epicyclic oscillation modes. {We discuss its implications for models of high-frequency quasi-periodic oscillations (QPOs) that have been observed in the X-ray flux of accreting black holes (BHs) in the three Galactic microquasars, GRS 1915+105, GRO J1655$-$40 and XTE J1550$-$564. We focus on previously considered QPO models that deal with low azimuthal number epicyclic modes, $\lvert m \rvert \leq 2$, and outline the consequences for the est…
We report on the geometry of accretion disk and high energy coronae in the strong Comptonization state (the very high/steep power law/hard intermediate state) based on a Suzaku observation of the famous Galactic black hole GX 339-4. These data were taken just before the peak of the 2006-2007 outburst, and the average X-ray luminosity in the 0.7-200 keV band is estimated to be 2.9E38 erg/s for a distance of 8 kpc. We fit the spectrum with both simple (independent disk and corona) and sophisticated (energetically coupled disk and corona) models, but all fits imply that the underlying optically t…
We present a systematic analysis of type C quasi-periodic oscillation (QPO) observations of H 1743--322 throughout the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer (RXTE) era. We find that, while different outbursts have significant flux differences, they show consistent positive correlations between the QPO fractional root-mean-square (rms) amplitude and non-thermal fraction of the emission, which indicate an independence of the intrinsic QPO rms on individual outburst brightness in H 1743--322. However, the dependence of the QPO rms on frequency is different between the outburst rise and decay phases, where …
Motivated by recent studies showing an apparent correlation between the high-frequency quasi-periodic oscillations (QPOs) and the low-frequency, type-C QPO in low-mass, black hole X-ray binaries (LMXBs), we explore a model that explains all three QPOs in terms of an oscillating, precessing hot flow in the truncated-disk geometry. Our model favors attributing the two high-frequency QPOs, often occurring in a near 3:2 frequency ratio, to the breathing and vertical epicyclic frequency modes of the hot, thick flow, although we can not rule out the Keplerian and m=-1 radial epicyclic modes. In eith…
We analysed all archival RXTE observations of the neutron-star low-mass X-ray binary 4U 1636-53 up to May 2010. In 528 out of 1280 observations we detected kilohertz quasi-periodic oscillations (kHz QPOs), with ~ 65% of these detections corresponding to the so-called lower kHz QPO. Using this QPO we measured, for the first time, the rate at which the QPO frequency changes as a function of QPO frequency. For this we used the spread of the QPO frequency over groups of 10 consecutive measurements, sampling timescales between 320 and 1600 s, and the time derivative of the QPO frequency over timesc…
AstroSat spectra of the black hole system GRS 1915+105 during the heartbeat state (with a varying oscillation period from 150 to 100 secs) were analysed using a truncated relativistic disc model along with a Comptonization component. Spectra were fitted for segments of length ~ 24 secs. The oscillation can be described as coordinated variations of the accretion rate, Comptonised flux, and the inner disc radius, with the latter ranging from 1.235-5 gravitational radii. Comparison with results from the $χ$ and Intermediate states shows that while the accretion rate and the high energy photon ind…
We present a comprehensive study of GRS 1915+105 in wide energy band ($0.5-60$ keV) using AstroSat observations during the period of $2016-2019$. The MAXI X-ray lightcurve of the source shows rise and decay profiles similar to canonical outbursting black holes. However, the source does not follow the exemplary 'q'-diagram in the Hardness-Intensity Diagram (HID). Model independent analysis of lightcurves suggests that GRS 1915+105 displays various types of variability classes ($δ,χ,ρ,κ,ω$ and $γ$). We also report possible transitions from one class to another ($χ\rightarrowρ,ρ\rightarrowκ$ via …
We report the results of AstroSat observations of GRS 1915$+$105 obtained using 100 ks guaranteed-time (GT) during the soft state. The Color-Color Diagram (CCD) indicates a variability class of $δ$ with the detection of High Frequency QPO (HFQPO) in the power density spectra (PDS). The HFQPO is seen to vary in the frequency range of $67.96 - 70.62$ Hz with percentage rms $\sim 0.83 - 1.90$ % and significance varying from $1.63 - 7.75$. The energy dependent power spectra show that the HFQPO features are dominant only in $6 - 25$ keV energy band. The broadband energy spectra ($0.7 - 50$ keV) of …
To investigate the geometry of the accretion disk in the source H1743-322, we have carried out a detailed X-ray temporal and spectral study using RXTE pointed observations. We have selected all data pertaining to the Steep Power Law (SPL) state during the 2003 outburst of this source. We find anti-correlated hard X-ray lags in three of the observations and the changes in the spectral and timing parameters (like the QPO frequency) confirm the idea of a truncated accretion disk in this source. Compiling data from similar observations from other sources, we find a correlation between the fraction…
Observations with RXTE (Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer) revealed the presence of High Frequency Quasi-Periodic Oscillations (HFQPOs) of the X-ray flux from several accreting stellar mass Black Holes. HFQPOs (and their counterparts at lower frequencies) may allow us to study general relativity in the strong gravity regime. However, the observational evidence today does not yet allow us to distinguish between different HFQPO models. In this paper we use a general relativistic ray-tracing code to investigate X-ray timing-spectroscopy and polarization properties of HFQPOs in the orbiting Hotspot mode…
We present the results from simultaneous Chandra HETGS and RXTE observations of the microquasar GRS 1915+105 in its quasi-stable "soft state" (or State A) performed on 2007 August 14, several days after the state transition from "hard state" (State C). The X-ray flux increased with spectral hardening around the middle of the Chandra observation, after which the 67 Hz QPO became significant. The HETGS spectra reveal at least 32 narrow absorption lines from highly ionized ions including Ne, Mg, Si, S, Ar, Ca, Cr, Mn, Fe, whose features are the deepest among those ever observed with Chandra from …
We extract the spectra of the strong low-frequency quasi-periodic oscillation (QPO) and its harmonic during the rising phase of an outburst in the black-hole binary XTE J1550-564. We compare these frequency resolved spectra to the time-averaged spectrum and the spectrum of the rapid (<0.1s) variability. The spectrum of the time averaged emission can be described by a disc, a Compton upscattered tail, and its reflection. The QPO spectrum contains no detectable disc, and the Compton spectrum is generally harder than in the time averaged emission, and shows less reflection, making it very similar…
We investigate the nature of the inner accretion disk in the neutron star source GX 5-1 by making a detailed study of time lags between X-rays of different energies. Using the cross-correlation analysis, we found anti-correlated hard and soft time lags of the order of a few tens to a few hundred seconds and the corresponding intensity states were mostly the horizontal branch (HB) and upper normal branch (NB). The model independent and dependent spectral analysis showed that during these time lags the structure of accretion disk significantly varied. Both eastern and western approaches were use…
We present the results of the analysis of a large database of X-ray observations of 22 galactic black-hole transients with the Rossi X-Ray timing explorer throughout its operative life for a total exposure time of ~12 Ms. We excluded persistent systems and the peculiar source GRS 1915+105, as well as the most recently discovered sources. The semi-automatic homogeneous analysis was aimed at the detection of high-frequency (100-1000 Hz) quasi-periodic oscillations (QPO), of which several cases were previously reported in the literature. After taking into account the number of independent trials,…
