This paper is devoted to explore some relativistic configurations of stellar objects for static spherically symmetric structures in the context of modified $f(\mathcal{G})$ gravity, by exploiting the Tolman-Kuchowicz spacetime [1,2]. We develop the equations of motion for spherically symmetric spacetime in the presence of anisotropic matter distribution by considering the physically valid expressions of the metric potentials, $ν=Br^2+2lnC$ and $λ=ln(1 + ar^2+br^4)$. To attain the values of the unknown constants we consider the observational data of $Cen~ X-3$, $EXO ~1785-248$ and $LMC~ X-4$ star models. Further, by using evaluated form of the solutions we provide many aspects which are described by the physical status like effective energy density, components of radial and transverse pressure, energy conditions, stability against equilibrium of the forces, speed of sound, mass-radius relation, surface redshift, compactness parameter, adiabatic index and anisotropic measurement. It is observed that all these features follow physically accepted patterns and the resulting outcome is in the experimental range which depicts the viability of our presented $f(\mathcal{G})$ gravity models.
In this current study, our main focus is to model a specific charged compact star SAX J 1808.4-3658 (M = 0.88 $M_{\odot}$,\, R = 8.9 km) within the realm of $f(R,\,T)$ modified gravity theory using the metric potentials proposed by Tolman-Kuchowicz (Tolman, Phys Rev 55:364, 1939; Kuchowicz Acta Phys Pol 33:541, 1968) and the interior spacetime is matched to the exterior Reissner-Nordström line element at the surface of the star. Tolman-Kuchowicz metric potentials provide a singularity-free solution which satisfies the stability criteria. Here we have used the simplified phenomenological MIT ba…
In the current article, we study anisotropic spherically symmetric strange star under the background of $f(R,T)$ gravity using the metric potentials of Tolman-Kuchowicz type~\cite{Tolman1939,Kuchowicz1968} as $λ(r)=\ln(1+ar^2+br^4)$ and $ν(r)=Br^2+2\ln C$ which are free from singularity, satisfy stability criteria and also well behaved. We calculate the value of constants $a$, $b$, $B$ and $C$ using matching conditions and the observed values of the masses and radii of known samples. To describe the strange quark matter (SQM) distribution, here we have used the phenomenological MIT bag model e…
We attempt to study a singularity-free model for the spherically symmetric anisotropic strange stars under Einstein's general theory of relativity by exploiting the Tolman-Kuchowicz metric. Further, we have assumed that the cosmological constant $Λ$ is a scalar variable dependent on the spatial coordinate $r$. To describe the strange star candidates we have considered that they are made of strange quark matter (SQM) distribution, which is assumed to be governed by the MIT bag equation of state. To obtain unknown constants of the stellar system we match the interior Tolman-Kuchowicz metric to t…
In this article we propose a relativistic model of a static spherically symmetric anisotropic strange star with the help of Tolman-Kuchowicz (TK) metric potentials [Tolman, Phys. Rev. {\bf55}, 364 (1939) and Kuchowicz, Acta Phys. Pol. {\bf33}, 541 (1968)]. The form of the potentials are $λ(r)=\ln(1+ar^2+br^4)$ and $ν(r)=Br^2+2\ln C$ where $a$, $b$, $B$ and $C$ are constants which we have to evaluate using boundary conditions. We also consider the simplest form of the phenomenological MIT bag equation of state (EOS) to represent the strange quark matter (SQM) distribution inside the stellar sys…
Dark energy is the component in the present Universe with the greatest abundance, and it is responsible for the accelerating expansion of the Universe. As a result, dark energy is likely to interact with any compact astrophysical object [Muhammad F.A.R. Sakti and Anto Sulaksono, {\it Phys. Rev. D} {\bf 103}, 084042 (2021)]. In present paper, we propose a model for a dark energy star made up of dark and ordinary matter in which the density of dark energy is proportional to the density of isotropic perfect fluid matter. In the context of general relativity, the model is derived in the curved Tol…
We present an anisotropic charged analogue of Kuchowicz (1971) solution of the general relativistic field equations in curvature coordinates by using simple form of electric intensity $E$ and pressure anisotropy factor $Δ$ that involve charge parameter $K$ and anisotropy parameter $α$ respectively. Our solution is well behaved in all respects for all values of $X$ ( $X$ is related to the radius of the star ) lying in the range $0< X \le 0.6$, $α$ lying in the range $0 \le α\le 1.3$, $K$ lying in the range $0< K \le 1.75$ and Schwarzschild compactness parameter "$u$" lying in the range $0< u \l…
The Tolman-Bondi and Vaidya solutions are two solutions to Einstein equations which describe dust particles and null fluid, respectively. We show that it is possible to match the two solutions in one single spacetime, the Tolman-Bondi--Vaidya spacetime. The new spacetime is divided by a null surface with Tolman-Bondi dust on one side and Vaidya fluid on the other side. The differentiability of the spacetime is discussed. By constructing a specific solution, we show that the metric across the null surface can be at least $C^1$ and the stress-energy tensor is continuous.
The closed-universe recollapse conjecture is studied for the spherically symmetric spacetimes. It is proven that there exists an upper bound to the lengths of timelike curves in any Tolman spacetime that possesses $S^3$ Cauchy surfaces and whose energy density is positive. Furthermore, an explicit bound is constructed from the initial data for such a spacetime.
Region of trapped null geodesics hidden inside of extremely compact objects is of astrophysical importance because of trapping of gravitational waves, or neutrinos. The trapping effect of null geodesics was extensively studied for spherically symmetric extremely compact objects. Recently, influence of rotation of the extremely compact objects on the trapping of null geodesics was treated in the simplest possible model of internal linearised \mbox{Hartle--Thorne} spacetime with uniform energy density distribution and uniform emissivity distribution of null geodesics. Here we extend the study of…
This paper aims to analyze the generalization of Lema\^ıtre-Tolman-Bondi (LTB) spacetime for dissipative dust under the influence of Palatini $f(R)$ gravity. We explore the modified field equations, kinematical variables, and mass function in this scenario. We construct Bianchi identities using conservation and differential equations for shear, expansion, and curvature scalar in the background of Palatini $f(R)$ gravity. We calculated the scalar functions coming from the orthogonal decomposition of the Riemann tensor in this framework. These scalar functions known as structure scalars have bee…
The Maxwell electromagnetic theory embedded in an inhomogeneous Lema\^ıtre-Tolman-Bondi (LTB) spacetime background was described a few years back in the literature. However, terms concerning the mass or high-derivatives were no explored. In this work we studied the inhomogeneous spacetime effects on high-derivatives and massive electromagnetic models. We used the LTB metric and calculated the physical quantities of interest, namely the scale factor, density of the electromagnetic field and Hubble constant, for the Proca and higher-derivative Podolsky models. We found a new singularity in both …
It is (or should be) well known that specification of a heat bath requires both a temperature and a 4-velocity, the rest frame of the heat bath. In static spacetimes there is a very natural and unique candidate for the 4-velocity of the heat bath, the normalized timelike Killing vector. However in stationary non-static spacetimes the situation is considerably more subtle, and several different "natural" 4-velocity fields suitable for characterizing the rest frame of a heat bath can be defined - thus Buchdahl's 1949 analysis for the Tolman temperature gradient in a stationary spacetime is only …
In this paper we consider gauge invariant linear perturbations of the metric and matter tensors describing the self-similar Lemaître-Tolman-Bondi (timelike dust) spacetime containing a naked singularity. We decompose the angular part of the perturbation in terms of spherical harmonics and perform a Mellin transform to reduce the perturbation equations to a set of ordinary differential equations with singular points. We fix initial data so the perturbation is finite on the axis and the past null cone of the singularity, and follow the perturbation modes up to the Cauchy horizon. There we argue …
Extremely compact objects trap gravitational waves or neutrinos, assumed to move along null geodesics in the trapping regions. The trapping of neutrinos was extensively studied for spherically symmetric extremely compact objects constructed under the simplest approximation of the uniform energy density distribution, with radius located under the photosphere of the external spacetime; in addition, uniform emissivity distribution of neutrinos was assumed in these studies. Here we extend the studies of the neutrino trapping for the case of the extremely compact Tolman VII objects representing the…
Utilizing the ADM equations, we derive a metric and reduced field equations describing a general, spherically symmetric perfect fluid. The metric describes both the interior perfect fluid region and exterior vacuum Schwarzschild spacetime in a single coordinate patch. The exterior spacetime is in generalized Painleve-Gullstrand coordinates which is an infinite class of coordinate systems. In the static limit the system reduces to a Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff equation on the interior with the exterior in Schwarzschild coordinates. We show the coordinate transformation for the non-static cases t…
We study the occurrence of shell crossing in spherical weakly charged dust collapse in the presence of a non-vanishing cosmological constant. We find that shell crossing always occurs from generic time-symmetric regular initial data, near the center of the matter configuration. For non-time-symmetric initial data, the occurrence---or lack thereof---of shell crossing is determined by the initial velocity profile, for a given mass and charge distribution. Physically reasonable initial data inevitably leads to shell crossing (near the center) before the minimum bounce radius is reached.
We study fluid distributions endowed with hyperbolical symmetry, which share many common features with Lemaitre-Tolman-Bondi (LTB) solutions (e.g. they are geodesic, shearing, non--conformally flat and the energy density is inhomogeneous). As such they may be considered as hyperbolically symmetric versions of LTB, with spherical symmetry replaced by hyperbolical symmetry. We start by considering pure dust models, and afterwards we extend our analysis to dissipative models with anisotropic pressure. In the former case the complexity factor is necessarily non-vanishing, whereas in the latter cas…
We provide a formula for estimating the redshift and its secular change (redshift drift) in Lemaître-Tolman-Bondi (LTB) spherically symmetric universes. We compute the scaling of the redshift drift for LTB models that predict Hubble diagrams indistinguishable from those of the standard cosmological model, the flat $Λ$ Cold Dark Matter ($Λ$CDM) model. We show that the redshift drift for these degenerate LTB models is typically different from that predicted in the $Λ$CDM scenario. We also highlight and discuss some unconventional redshift-drift signals that arise in LTB universes and give them d…
The Tolman-Bondi-Lemaître type of inhomogeneous spacetime with generalised Chaplygin gas equation of state given by $p = -\frac{A}{ρ^α}$ is investigated where $ α$ is a constant. We get an inhomogeneous spacetime at early stage but at the late stage of universe the inhomogeneity disappear with suitable radial co-ordinate transformation. For the large scale factor our model behaves like $Λ$CDM type which is in accord with the recent WMAP studies. We have calculated $\frac{\partial ρ}{\partial r}$ and it is found to be negative for $α> 0$ which is in agreement with the observational analysis. A …
We present Tolman IV spacetime representing compact fluid sphere in bigravity. Here we have explored the effect of scale parameter $k$ in the local matter distribution of compact stars. We have model for three well-known compact stars and it shows that for lower values of $k$ leads to stiffer EoS. This claim is also supported by the graphical analysis. It can be observed that the sound speed and the adiabatic index are more for lower values of $k$. It is also seen that all the solutions of Einstein's field equations are still satisfying the field equations in the presence of a background metri…
This work examines a relativistic model for the observed inhomogeneities of the large scale structure where the hypothesis that this structure can be described as being a self-similar fractal system is advanced. The concept of hierarchical clustering is identified with a fractal distribution and the problems raised by the use of fractal ideas in a relativistic model are discussed, as well as their relations to the Copernican and Cosmological Principles. Voids, clusters and superclusters of galaxies are assumed to be part of a smoothed-out fractal structure described by a Lemaitre-Tolman soluti…
This paper studies the spatially homogeneous Einstein-de Sitter cosmological model in the context of a relativistic hierarchical (fractal) cosmology as developed in paper I (0807.0866). The Einstein-de Sitter model is treated as a special case of Lemaitre-Tolman's spacetime, obtained by the appropriate choice of the latter's three arbitrary functions. The observational relations along the past light cone of the model under consideration are calculated, and an investigation of whether or not it has fractal behaviour is performed. It was found that the Einstein-de Sitter model does not seem to r…
We consider extensions of Lemaitre-Tolman-Bondi (LTB) spacetimes to the dissipative case. For doing that we previously carry out a systematic study on LTB. This study is based on two different aspects of LTB. On the one hand, a symmetry property of LTB will be presented. On the other hand, the description of LTB in terms of some fundamental scalar functions (structure scalars) appearing in the orthogonal splitting of Riemann tensor will be provided. We shall consider as "natural" generalizations of LTB (hereafter referred to as GLTB) either those metrics admitting some similar kind of symmetry…
This paper describes the Fortran 77 code SIMU, version 1.1, designed for numerical simulations of observational relations along the past null geodesic in the Lemaitre-Tolman-Bondi (LTB) spacetime. SIMU aims at finding scale invariant solutions of the average density, but due to its full modularity it can be easily adapted to any application which requires LTB's null geodesic solutions. In version 1.1 the numerical output can be read by the GNUPLOT plotting package to produce a fully graphical output, although other plotting routines can be easily adapted. Details of the code's subroutines are …
We obtain the correct hamiltonian which describes the dynamics of classes of asymptotic open Friedmann-Lema\^ıtre-Robertson-Walker (FLRW) spacetimes, which includes Tolman geometries. We calculate the surface term that has to be added to the usual hamiltonian of General Relativity in order to obtain an improved hamiltonian with well defined functional derivatives. For asymptotic flat FLRW spaces, this surface term is zero, but for asymptotic negative curvature FLRW spaces it is not null in general. In the particular case of the Tolman geometries, they vanish. The surface term evaluated on a pa…
We consider Lemaitre-Tolman-Bondi spacetimes from the point of view of a tilted observer, i.e. one with respect to which the fluid is radially moving. The imperfect fluid and the congruence described by its four-velocity, as seen by the tilted observer is studied in detail. It is shown that from the point of view of such tilted observer the fluid evolves non-reversibly (i.e. with non-vanishing rate of entropy production). The non-geodesic character of the tilted congruence is related to the non-vanishing of the divergence of the 4-vector entropy flow. We determine the factor related to the exi…
In this present work, we have obtained a singularity-free spherically symmetric stellar model with anisotropic pressure in the background of Einstein's general theory of relativity. The Einstein's field equations have been solved by exploiting Tolman {\em ansatz} [Richard C Tolman, Phys. Rev. 55:364, 1939] in $(3+1)$-dimensional space-time. Using observed values of mass and radius of the compact star PSR J1903+327, we have calculated the numerical values of all the constants from the boundary conditions. All the physical characteristics of the proposed model have been discussed both analytical…
Based on the Bianchi type IX metric, we calculate the energy and momentum density components of the gravitational field for the five different definitions of energy-momentum, namely, Tolman, Papapetrou, Landau-Lifshitz, Møller and Weinberg. The energy densities of Møller and Weinberg become zero for the spacetime under consideration. In the other prescriptions, i.e., Tolman, Papapetrou and Landau-Lifshitz complexes, we find different non-vanishing energy-momentum densities for the given spacetime, supporting the well-known argument in General Relativity that the different definitions may lead …
We review a recently proposed effective Tolman temperature and present its applications to various gravitational systems. In the Unruh state for the evaporating black holes, the free-fall energy density is found to be negative divergent at the horizon, which is in contrast to the conventional calculations performed in the Kruskal coordinates. We resolve this conflict by invoking that the Kruskcal coordinates could be no longer proper coordinates at the horizon. In the Hartle-Hawking-Israel state, despite the negative finite proper energy density at the horizon, the Tolman temperature is diverg…
We give the necessary and sufficient (local) conditions for a metric tensor to be a non conformally flat spherically symmetric solution. These conditions exclusively involve explicit concomitants of the Riemann tensor. As a direct application we obtain the {\em ideal} labeling of the Schwarzschild, Reissner-Nordström and Lemaître-Tolman-Bondi solutions.
This paper presents numerical solutions of particular Lemaitre-Tolman models approximating a fractal behaviour along the past light cone, as discussed in paper I (0807.0866) of this series. The initial conditions of the numerical problem are discussed and the algorithm used to carry out the numerical integrations is presented. It was found that the numerical solutions are stiff across the flat-curved interface necessary to obtain the initial conditions of the problem. The spatially homogeneous Friedmann models are treated as special cases of the Lemaitre-Tolman solution and solved numerically.…
In this study, using Moller and Tolman prescriptions we calculate energy and momentum densities for the general cylindrically symmetric spacetime metric. We find that results are finite and well defined in these complexes. We also give the results for some cylindrically symmetric spacetime models.
In this article, we studied the behavior of relativistic spherical objects considering Tolman IV spacetime in modified $f(R,\,T)$ gravity for the uncharged perfect fluid matter. We have chosen the matter Lagrangian as $\mathcal{L}_m=-p$ to develop our present model. In particular, for this investigation we have reported for the compact object LMC $X-4$ [Mass=$(1.04 \pm 0.09)M_{\odot}$; Radius= $8.301_{-0.2}^{+0.2}$ Km] in our paper. The effect of the coupling parameter $β$ on the local matter distribution of compact stars has been investigated in this paper. It can be seen that with greater va…
We present a covariant decomposition of Einstein's Field Equations which is particularly suitable for perturbations of spherically symmetric -- and general locally rotationally symmetric -- spacetimes. Based upon the utility of the 1+3 covariant approach to perturbation theory in cosmology, the semi-tetrad, 1+1+2 approach presented here should be useful for analysing perturbations of a variety of systems in a covariant and gauge-invariant manner. Such applications range from stellar objects to cosmological models such as the spherically symmetric Lemaitre-Tolman-Bondi solutions or the class of…
In any static spacetime the quasi-local Tolman mass contained within a volume can be reduced to a Gauss-like surface integral involving the flux of a suitably defined generalized surface gravity. By introducing some basic thermodynamics and invoking the Unruh effect one can then develop elementary bounds on the quasi-local entropy that are very similar in spirit to the holographic bound, and closely related to entanglement entropy.
In a static spherically symmetric Einstein-Maxwell spacetime the class of astrophysical solution found out by Ray and Das (2002) and Pant and Sah (1979) are revisited here in connection to the phenomenological relationship between the gravitational and electromagnetic fields. It is qualitatively shown that the charged relativistic stars of Tolman (1939) and Bayin (1978) type are of purely electromagnetic origin. The existence of this type of astrophysical solutions is a probable extension of Lorentz's conjecture that electron-like extended charged particle possesses only `electromagnetic mass'…
We generalise the covariant Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff equations proposed in arXiv:1709.02818 [gr-qc] to the case of static and spherically symmetric spacetimes with anisotropic sources. The extended equations allow a detailed analysis of the role of the anisotropic terms in the interior solution of relativistic stars and lead to the generalisation of some well known solutions of this type. We show that, like in the isotropic case, one can define generating theorems for the anisotropic Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff equations. We also find that it is possible to define a reconstruction algorithm a…
We consider the behaviour of odd-parity perturbations of those self-similar Lemaître-Tolman-Bondi spacetimes which admit a naked singularity. We find that a perturbation which evolves from initially regular data remains finite on the Cauchy horizon. Finiteness is demonstrated by considering the behaviour of suitable energy norms of the perturbation (and pointwise values of these quantities) on natural spacelike hypersurfaces. This result holds for a general choice of initial data and initial data surface. Finally, we examine the perturbed Weyl scalars in order to provide a physical interpretat…
Tolman-Bondi inhomogeneous spacetimes are used as a cosmological model for type Ia supernova data. It is found that with certain parameter choices the model fits the data as well as the standard $Λ$CDM cosmology does.

We study spherically symmetric geometries made of anisotropic perfect fluid based on general relativity. The purpose of the work is to find and classify black hole solutions in closed spacetime. In a general setting, we find that a static and closed space exists only when the radial pressure is negative but its size is smaller than the density. The Einstein equation is eventually casted into a first order autonomous equation on two-dimensional plane of scale-invariant variables, which are equivalent to the Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff (TOV) equation in general relativity. Then, we display variou…
Non-local $f(R)$ gravity was proposed as a powerfull alternative to general relativity (GR) . This theory has potentially adverse implications for infrared (IR) regime as well as ultraviolent(UV) early epochs. However, there are a lot of powerful features, making it really user-friendly. A scalar-tensor frame comprising two auxiliary scalar fields, used to reduce complex action. However this is not the case for the modification complex which plays a distinct role in modified theories for gravity. In this work, we study the dynamics of a static, spherically symmetric object. The interior region…
