The Algonauts challenge is about predicting the object representations in the form of Representational Dissimilarity Matrices (RDMS) derived from visual brain regions. We used a customized deep learning model using the concept of Siamese networks and group convolutions to predict neural distances corresponding to a pair of images. Training data was best explained by distances computed over the last layer.
Siamese trackers demonstrated high performance in object tracking due to their balance between accuracy and speed. Unlike classification-based CNNs, deep similarity networks are specifically designed to address the image similarity problem, and thus are inherently more appropriate for the tracking task. However, Siamese trackers mainly use the last convolutional layers for similarity analysis and target search, which restricts their performance. In this paper, we argue that using a single convolutional layer as feature representation is not an optimal choice in a deep similarity framework. We …
Offline signature verification is one of the most challenging tasks in biometrics and document forensics. Unlike other verification problems, it needs to model minute but critical details between genuine and forged signatures, because a skilled falsification might often resembles the real signature with small deformation. This verification task is even harder in writer independent scenarios which is undeniably fiscal for realistic cases. In this paper, we model an offline writer independent signature verification task with a convolutional Siamese network. Siamese networks are twin networks wit…

Online signature verification (OSV) is one of the most challenging tasks in writer identification and digital forensics. Owing to the large intra-individual variability, there is a critical requirement to accurately learn the intra-personal variations of the signature to achieve higher classification accuracy. To achieve this, in this paper, we propose an OSV framework based on deep convolutional Siamese network (DCSN). DCSN automatically extracts robust feature descriptions based on metric-based loss function which decreases intra-writer variability (Genuine-Genuine) and increases inter-indiv…
Recently, deep learning has achieved promising performance in the change detection task. However, the deep models are task-specific and data set bias often exists, thus it is difficult to transfer a network trained on one multi-temporal data set (source domain) to another multi-temporal data set with very limited (even no) labeled data (target domain). In this paper, we propose a novel deep siamese domain adaptation convolutional neural network (DSDANet) architecture for cross-domain change detection. In DSDANet, a siamese convolutional neural network first extracts spatial-spectral features f…
The problem of arbitrary object tracking has traditionally been tackled by learning a model of the object's appearance exclusively online, using as sole training data the video itself. Despite the success of these methods, their online-only approach inherently limits the richness of the model they can learn. Recently, several attempts have been made to exploit the expressive power of deep convolutional networks. However, when the object to track is not known beforehand, it is necessary to perform Stochastic Gradient Descent online to adapt the weights of the network, severely compromising the …

State-of-the-art person re-identification systems that employ a triplet based deep network suffer from a poor generalization capability. In this paper, we propose a four stream Siamese deep convolutional neural network for person redetection that jointly optimises verification and identification losses over a four image input group. Specifically, the proposed method overcomes the weakness of the typical triplet formulation by using groups of four images featuring two matched (i.e. the same identity) and two mismatched images. This allows us to jointly increase the interclass variations and red…
Matching pedestrians across multiple camera views, known as human re-identification, is a challenging research problem that has numerous applications in visual surveillance. With the resurgence of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), several end-to-end deep Siamese CNN architectures have been proposed for human re-identification with the objective of projecting the images of similar pairs (i.e. same identity) to be closer to each other and those of dissimilar pairs to be distant from each other. However, current networks extract fixed representations for each image regardless of other images …

Recent innovations in training deep convolutional neural network (ConvNet) models have motivated the design of new methods to automatically learn local image descriptors. The latest deep ConvNets proposed for this task consist of a siamese network that is trained by penalising misclassification of pairs of local image patches. Current results from machine learning show that replacing this siamese by a triplet network can improve the classification accuracy in several problems, but this has yet to be demonstrated for local image descriptor learning. Moreover, current siamese and triplet network…
In recent years, building change detection methods have made great progress by introducing deep learning, but they still suffer from the problem of the extracted features not being discriminative enough, resulting in incomplete regions and irregular boundaries. To tackle this problem, we propose a dual task constrained deep Siamese convolutional network (DTCDSCN) model, which contains three sub-networks: a change detection network and two semantic segmentation networks. DTCDSCN can accomplish both change detection and semantic segmentation at the same time, which can help to learn more discrim…

Change detection (CD) is one of the most vital applications in remote sensing. Recently, deep learning has achieved promising performance in the CD task. However, the deep models are task-specific and CD data set bias often exists, hence it is inevitable that deep CD models would suffer degraded performance after transferring it from original CD data set to new ones, making manually label numerous samples in the new data set unavoidable, which costs a large amount of time and human labor. Detection of different types of image editing operations carried out on an image is an important problem in image forensics. It gives the information about the processing history of an image, and also can expose forgeries present in an image. There have been few methods proposed to detect different types of image editing operations in a single framework. However, all the operations have to be known a priori in the training phase. But, in real-forensics scenarios it may not be possible to know about the editing operations carried out on an image. To solve this problem, we propose a novel deep l…

Convolutional Siamese neural networks have been recently used to track objects using deep features. Siamese architecture can achieve real time speed, however it is still difficult to find a Siamese architecture that maintains the generalization capability, high accuracy and speed while decreasing the number of shared parameters especially when it is very deep. Furthermore, a conventional Siamese architecture usually processes one local neighborhood at a time, which makes the appearance model local and non-robust to appearance changes. To overcome these two problems, this paper proposes DensSia…

This work introduces a new approach to localize anomalies in surveillance video. The main novelty is the idea of using a Siamese convolutional neural network (CNN) to learn a distance function between a pair of video patches (spatio-temporal regions of video). The learned distance function, which is not specific to the target video, is used to measure the distance between each video patch in the testing video and the video patches found in normal training video. If a testing video patch is not similar to any normal video patch then it must be anomalous. We compare our approach to previously pu…
