We show the presence of a potentially detectable gamma-ray line in the Fermi Galactic center excess in light of the secluded (vector) dark matter (DM) model in which the hidden scalar, nearly degenerate with DM in mass, mediates the interaction of the secluded DM with the Standard Model (SM) due to its mixing with the SM Higgs. We find that the parameter region $m_X\in[60, 132]$ GeV can provide a good fit to the Fermi Galactic center gamma-ray excess spectrum, appearing a prominent gamma-ray line with the energy $\in [30, 66]$ GeV. The best fit gives $m_X\simeq m_S \simeq 86$ GeV with a $p$-value$\, =0.42$, so that the resultant gamma-ray line, arising from the decay of the scalar mediator into $γγ$, peaks at 43 GeV. We derive constraints on the annihilation cross section from the Fermi-LAT gamma-ray line search, gamma-ray observations of the Fermi-LAT dwarf spheroidal galaxies, and Planck cosmic microwave background measurement. For the secluded vector DM model, the parameter space constrained by the current XENON1T and future LUX-ZEPLIN is shown. Finally, for the mixing angle between the Higgs sectors, we discuss its lower bound, which is required by the big bang nucleosynthesis constraint and relevant to the hidden sector decoupling temperature.
Weak-scale secluded sector dark matter can reproduce the observed dark matter relic density with thermal freeze-out within that sector. If nature is supersymmetric, three portals to the visible sector - a gauge portal, a Higgs portal, and a gaugino portal - are present. We present gamma ray spectra relevant for indirect detection of dark matter annihilation in such setups. Since symmetries in the secluded sector can stabilize dark matter, $R$-parity is unnecessary, and we investigate the impact of $R$-parity violation on annihilation spectra. We present limits from the Fermi Large Area Telesco…
It has been suggested that the baseline scenario of collisionless cold dark matter over-predicts the numbers of satellite galaxies, as well as the dark matter (DM) densities in galactic centers. This apparent lack of structure at small scales can be accounted for if one postulates neutrino-DM and DM-DM interactions mediated by light O(MeV) force carriers. In this letter, we consider a simple, consistent model of neutrinophilic DM with these features where DM and a "secluded" SM-singlet neutrino species are charged under a new $U(1)$ gauge symmetry. An important ingredient of this model is that…
We propose a new scenario where dark matter belongs to a secluded sector coupled to the Standard Model through energy--momentum tensors. Our model is motivated by constructions where gravity {\it emerges} from a hidden sector, the graviton being identified by the kinetic term of the fields in the secluded sector. Supposing that the lighter particle of the secluded sector is the dark component of the Universe, we show that we can produce it in a sufficiently large amount despite the suppressed couplings of the theory, thanks to large temperatures of the thermal bath in the early stage of the Un…

We propose a new portal coupling to dark matter by taking advantage of the nonminimally coupled portal sector to the Ricci scalar. Such a portal sector conformally induces couplings to the trace of the energy-momentum tensor of matters including highly secluded dark matter particles. The portal coupling is so feeble that dark matter is produced by freeze-in processes of scatterings and/or the decay of the mediator. We consider two concrete realizations of the portal: conformally induced Higgs portal and conformally induced mediator portal. The former case is compatible with the Higgs inflation…
Many models of Higgs portal Dark Matter (DM) find themselves under pressure from increasingly tight direct detection constraints. In the framework of gauge field DM, we study how such bounds can be relaxed while retaining the thermal WIMP paradigm. When the hidden sector gauge symmetry is broken via the Higgs mechanism, the hidden sector generally contains unstable states which are lighter than dark matter. These states provide DM with an efficient annihilation channel. As a result, the DM relic abundance and the direct detection limits are controlled by different parameters, and the two can e…
We have built a lepton-specific next-to-minimal two-Higgs-doublet-portal vector dark matter model. The vector dark matter in the hidden sector does not directly couple to the visible sector, but instead annihilates into the hidden Higgs bosons which decay through a small coupling into the CP-odd Higgs bosons. In this model, the Galactic center gamma-ray excess is mainly due to the 2-step cascade annihilation with $τ$'s in the final state. The obtained mass of the CP-odd Higgs $A$ in the Galactic center excess fit can explain the muon $g-2$ anomaly at the 2$σ$ level without violating the string…
We discuss the sensitivity of neutrino experiments at the luminosity frontier to generic hidden sectors containing new (sub)-GeV neutral states. The weak interaction of these states with the Standard Model can be efficiently probed through all of the allowed renormalizable `portals' (in the Higgs, vector, and neutrino sectors) at fixed target proton beam facilities, with complementary sensitivity to colliders. We concentrate on the kinetic-mixing vector portal, and show that certain regions of the parameter space for a new secluded U(1) gauge sector with long-lived sub-GeV mass states decaying…

The lack of information before Big Bang Neucleosynthesis (BBN) allow us to assume the presence of a new species $ϕ$ whose energy density redshifts as $a^{-(4+n)}$ where $n>0$ and $a$ is the scale factor. This non-standard cosmological setup facilitates a larger portal coupling $(ε)$ between the dark and the visible sectors even when the two sectors are not in thermal equilibrium. Here, we have considered $U(1)_{L_μ-L_τ}\otimes U(1)_X$ gauge extension of the Standard Model (SM) and studied different phases of the cosmological evolution of a thermally decoupled dark sector such as leak-in, freez…
Dark matter (DM) is added to the Froggatt-Nielsen (FN) mechanism, and conditions for its successful freezeout identified. Requesting the FN scale $Λ_{\text{FN}}$ to be the cutoff of the theory renders freezeout scenarios surprisingly few. Fermionic DM is typically charged under $U(1)_{\text{FN}}$, with the dominant annihilation channel a CP-even flavon + CP-odd flavon. A minimal case is when the DM-flavon coupling strength is $\mathcal{O}(1)$, with several implications: (1) the DM mass is $\mathcal{O}$(100 GeV - 1 TeV), thanks to the WIMP coincidence, (2) requiring perturbativity of couplings …

The Higgs portal of the Standard Model provides the opportunity for coupling to a very light scalar field $ϕ$ via the super-renormalizable operator $ϕ(H^\dagger H)$. This allows for the existence of a very light scalar dark matter that has coherent interaction with the Standard Model particles and yet has its mass protected against radiative corrections. We analyze ensuing constraints from the fifth-force measurements, along with the cosmological requirements. We find that the detectable level of the fifth-force can be achieved in models with low inflationary scales, and certain amount of fine…
The Dark Axion Portal provides a model for Dark Matter (DM) in which both Dark Photons $γ^\prime$ and Axions $a$ can contribute to the present day abundance of DM. We study the parameter space of the Dark Axion Portal to pinpoint regions of the parameter space where $γ^\prime$ and $a$ can be produced with sufficient abundance to account for the cosmic DM density, while still being detectable in planned direct detection and axion haloscope experiments. In particular, we explore the production of eV-scale Dark Photons in the Dark Axion Portal, taking into account a possible kinetic mixing betwee…
A dark QCD sector is a relatively minimal extension of the Standard Model (SM) that admits Dark Matter (DM) candidates but requires no portal to the visible sector beyond gravitational interactions: A "nightmare scenario" for DM detection. We consider a secluded dark sector containing a single flavor of light, vector-like dark quark gauged under $SU(N)$. In the large-$N$ limit, this single-flavor theory becomes highly predictive, generating two DM candidates whose masses and dynamics are described by few parameters: A light quark-antiquark bound state, the dark analog of the $η'$ meson, and a …
Previous attempts at explaining the gamma-ray excess near the Galactic Centre have focussed on dark matter annihilation directly into Standard Model particles. This results in a preferred dark matter mass of 30-40 GeV (if the annihilation is into b quarks) or 10 GeV (if it is into leptons). Here we show that the gamma-ray excess is also consistent with heavier dark matter particles; in models of secluded dark matter, dark matter with mass up to 76 GeV provides a good fit to the data. This occurs if the dark matter first annihilates to an on-shell particle that subsequently decays to Standard M…

A well-studied possibility is that dark matter may reside in a sector secluded from the Standard Model, except for the so-called photon portal: kinetic mixing between the ordinary and dark photons. Such interactions can be probed at dark matter direct detection experiments, and new experimental techniques involving detection of dark matter-electron scattering offer new sensitivity to sub-GeV dark matter. Typically however it is implicitly assumed that the dark matter is not altered as it traverses the Earth to arrive at the detector. In this paper we study in detail the effects of terrestrial …

In secluded dark sector scenario, the connection between the visible and the dark sector can be established through a portal coupling and its presence opens up the possibility of non-adiabatic evolution of the dark sector. To study the non-adiabatic evolution of the dark sector, we have considered a $U(1)_{L_μ- L_τ} \otimes U(1)_X$ extension of the standard model (SM). Here the dark sector is charged only under $U(1)_X$ gauge symmetry whereas the SM fields are singlet under this symmetry. Due to the presence of tree-level kinetic mixing between $U(1)_X$ and $U(1)_{L_μ- L_τ}$ gauge bosons, the …
We investigate the electroweak phase transition patterns for a recently proposed baryogenesis model with CP violation originated in the dark sector. The model includes a complex scalar singlet-Higgs boson portal, a $U(1)_l$ gauge lepton symmetry with a $Z^\prime$ gauge boson portal and a fermionic dark matter particle. We find a novel thermal history of the scalar sector, featuring a $Z_2$ breaking singlet vacuum in the early Universe driven by a dark Yukawa coupling, that induces a one-step strongly first order electroweak phase transition. We explore the parameter space that generates the ob…
We present a very minimal model for baryogenesis by a dark first-order phase transition. It employs a new dark $SU(2)_{D}$ gauge group with two doublet Higgs bosons, two lepton doublets, and two singlets. The singlets act as a neutrino portal that transfer the generated asymmetry to the Standard Model. The model predicts $ΔN_\text{eff} = 0.09-0.13$ detectable by future experiments as well as possible signals from exotic decays of the Higgs and $Z$ bosons and stochastic gravitational waves.
We provide a comprehensive study of observable spectra from dark matter pair-annihilation or decay into sterile (right-handed) neutrinos. This occurs, for instance, in neutrino portal dark matter models, where a sterile neutrino acts as the portal between dark matter and the Standard Model sector. The subsequent decays of right-handed neutrinos produce detectable Standard Model particles, notably photons, positrons, and neutrinos. We study the phenomenology of models where the right-handed neutrino masses are below the GeV scale, as well as models where they are at, or significantly heavier th…
In a secluded dark sector which is coupled to the Standard Model via a Higgs portal interaction we arrange for the existence of 't Hooft-Polyakov magnetic monopoles and study their implications for cosmology. We point out that a dark sector which can accommodate stable monopoles will also contain massless dark photons gamma' as well as charged massive vector bosons W'. The dark matter in this scenario will be a combination of magnetically and electrically charged species under the unbroken U(1) subgroup of the dark sector. We estimate the cosmological production rate of monopoles and the rate …
Kinematically forbidden channels can set the freeze-out dark matter (DM) relic abundance. These channels are described by DM annihilations into heavier states, which vanish at zero temperature limit, but occur at finite temperatures in the early Universe. For the case that the final state of the forbidden channel is scalar mediators that couple to Standard Model (SM) matter through mixing with the SM Higgs, the signals from DM-nucleon interactions and from mediator-related missing energy or displaced vertices could be detected by direct detections and particle physics experiments, respectively…

We show that a minimal scenario, utilizing only the graviton as an intermediate messenger between the inflaton, the dark sector and the Standard Model (SM), is able to generate $simultaneously$ the observed relic density of dark matter (DM), the baryon asymmetry through leptogenesis, as well as a sufficiently hot thermal bath after inflation. We assume an inflaton potential of the form $V(ϕ)\propto ϕ^k$ about the minimum at the end of inflation. The possibility of reheating via minimal gravitational interactions has been excluded by constraints on dark radiation for excessive gravitational wav…
Ultralight bosonic dark matter is expected to be able to form a cloud surrounding the supermassive black hole (SMBH) in the Galactic center. With increasing precision of the observations of the stellar kinematics around the SMBH, tiny effects from such a dark matter cloud, including its gravitational perturbation and the direct coupling with the ordinary matter may be detectable. In this work, we search for possible evidence of the scalar cloud using accurate orbital measurements of the S2 star around Sgr~A*. We solve the first order Post-Newtonian equation, considering simultaneously the exte…
A light hidden photon or axion-like particle is a good dark matter candidate and they are often associated with the spontaneous breaking of dark global or gauged U(1) symmetry. We consider the dark Higgs dynamics around the phase transition in detail taking account of the portal coupling between the dark Higgs and the Standard Model Higgs as well as various thermal effects. We show that the (would-be) Nambu-Goldstone bosons are efficiently produced via a parametric resonance with the resonance parameter $q\sim 1$ at the hidden symmetry breaking. In the simplest setup, which predicts a second o…
This closer study of the FSM: [I] retains the earlier results in offering explanation for the existence of three fermion generations, as well as the hierarchical mass and mixing patterns of leptons and quarks; [II] predicts a vector boson $G$ with mass of order TeV which mixes with $γ$ and $Z$ of the standard model. The subsequent deviations from the standard mixing scheme are calculable in terms of the $G$ mass. While these deviations for (i) $m_Z - m_W$, (ii) $Γ(Z \rightarrow \ell^+ \ell^-)$, and (iii) $Γ(Z \rightarrow {\rm hadrons})$ are all within present experimental errors so long as $m_…
