This paper intends to collect available data on searches for scalar resonances at LHC. It is suggested that, in the absence of SUSY, the most compelling picture is the composite framework, with the idea that the lightest particles are composite scalars of the pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone type, emerging from a broken symmetry at a higher scale, the h(125) boson being one of them. Searches in two-photons, Z-photon, ZZ into 4 leptons, top, h and W pairs are reviewed. A recent search based on lepton tagging from a spectator W/Z is also discussed. Aside from the already well-known scalar observed by CMS and LEP2 at 96 GeV, I discuss the evidence and the interpretation for a possible resonance observed in ZZ around 700 GeV by CMS and ATLAS and some evidence for a CP-odd scalar at ~400 GeV. Future searches at HL-LHC and at $e^+e^-$ colliders are briefly sketched.
Flavor violating processes in the lepton sector have highly suppressed branching ratios in the standard model. Thus, observation of lepton flavor violation (LFV) constitutes a clear indication of physics beyond the standard model (BSM). We review new physics searches in the processes that violate the conservation of lepton (muon) flavor by two units with muonia and muonium--antimuonium oscillations.
Flavor violating processes in the lepton sector have highly suppressed branching ratios in the standard model mainly due to the tiny neutrino mass. This means that observing lepton flavor violation (LFV) in the next round of experiments would constitute a clear indication of physics beyond the standard model (BSM). We revisit a discussion of one possible way to search for LFV, muonium-antimuonium oscillations. This process violates muon lepton number by two units and could be sensitive to the types of BSM physics that are not probed by other types of LFV processes. Using techniques of effectiv…

Results of searches at the Tevatron for physics (non-SUSY and non-Higgs) beyond the Standard Model using 200/pb to 480/pb of data are discussed. Searches at DO and CDF for Z', Lepton-Quark compositeness, Randall-Sundrum Gravitons, Large Extra Dimensions, W', Leptoquarks and Excited Electrons are presented here.
A review of the discovery potential of LHC for new phenomena beyond the Standard Model (BSM) other than Supersymmetry in the early phase of running is presented. Topics covered include searches for extra dimensions in different scenarios (ADD, Randall-Sundrum, black holes ...), resonance hunting in di-lepton, di-photon and di-jet final states, searches for contact interactions, heavy stable charged particles, technicolor, etc. The strategies of the ATLAS and CMS experiments to understand the detectors and prepare them for "search" mode and the prospects for discoveries using early data are des…
This paper presents an overview of recent experimental direct searches for Higgs-boson and beyond-the-standard-model (BSM) physics shown in the plenary session at the SUSY07 conference. The results reported correspond to an integrated luminosity of up to 2 fb-1 of Run II data from $p\bar{p}$ collisions collected by the CDF and D0 experiments at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. Searches covered include: the standard model (SM) Higgs boson (including sensitivity projections), the minimal supersymmetric extension of the standard model (MSSM), charged Higgs bosons and extended Higgs models, supersy…
I give a summary of BSM searches performed by the ATLAS and CMS experiments with an focus on heavy gauge bosons, extra dimensions and quantum black holes. The presented results use data collected during 2012 when the LHC operated at an center of mass energy of $\sqrt{s}$ = 8 TeV.
We present FlexibleDecay, a tool to calculate decays of scalars in a broad class of BSM models. The tool aims for high precision particularly in the case of Higgs boson decays. In the case of scalar and pseudoscalar Higgs boson decays the known higher order SM QED, QCD and EW effects are taken into account where possible. The program works in a modified $\bar{\text{MS}}$ scheme that exhibits a decoupling property with respect to heavy BSM physics, with BSM parameters themselves treated in the $\bar{\text{MS}}/\bar{\text{DR}}$-scheme allowing for an easy connection to high scale tests for, e.g.…
A new analysis of the hadronic peak cross section at LEP 1 implies a small amount of missing invisible width in Z decays, while the effective weak charge in atomic parity violation has been determined recently to 0.6% accuracy, indicating a significantly negative S parameter. As a consequence of these two deviations, the data are described well if the presence of an additional Z' boson, such as predicted in Grand Unified Theories, is assumed. Moreover, the data are now rich enough to study an arbitrary extra Z' boson and to determine its couplings in a model independent way. An excellent best …
The study of Higgs boson production at large transverse momentum is one of the new frontiers for the LHC Higgs physics programme. This paper considers boosted Higgs production in the Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT). We focus on the gluon fusion and $t{\bar t}H$ production processes and study the effects of three dimension-6 operators: the top Yukawa operator, the gluon-Higgs effective coupling and the chromomagnetic dipole operator of the top quark. We perform a detailed study of the sensitivity of current and future LHC data to the corresponding Wilson coefficients, consistently…
In contrast with $B^0-\bar B^0$, $B_s-\bar B_s$ mixing where the standard model (SM) contributions overwhelm that of new physics beyond standard model (BSM), a measured relatively large $D^0-\bar D^0$ mixing where the SM contribution is negligible, definitely implies the existence of new physics BSM. It is natural to consider that the rare decays of D meson might be more sensitive to new physics, and the rare decay $D^0\to μ^+μ^-$ could be an ideal area to search for new physics because it is a flavor changing process. In this work we look for a trace of new physics BSM in the leptonic decays …
$τ$ is playing an important role in the current B-physics indications from experiments of lepton flavor universality violations(LFUV). This suggests it be given increasing attention theoretically in the coming years, given also the fact that Belle-II will have much larger data samples to study; similar comments also apply to LHCb as well as ATLAS and CMS. The fact that $τ$ decays provide valuable information on its spin is an added advantage. This gains special significance if the current indications of new physics are upheld since naturalness arguments then strongly suggest that new physics s…
New developments in both the theories and experiments related to the extraction of the top-row Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix elements $V_{ud}$ and $V_{us}$ led to a series of new anomalies, for instance the apparent violation of the top-row unitarity relation. It is important to further reduce all the associated Standard Model theory uncertainties in order to better understand whether such observations point towards the possibility of physics beyond the Standard Model, or rather some unexpectedly large Standard Model effects. This requires improved studies of tree-level and higher-order Sta…
The global electroweak fit of the Standard Model (SM) with Gfitter can be used to constrain yet unknown SM parameters, such as the Higgs mass, but also physics beyond the SM (BSM) via the formalism of oblique parameters. This paper presents updated results of the Gfitter SM fit using the latest available electroweak precision measurements and the recent combination of direct Higgs searches at the Tevatron. In addition, newly obtained constraints on BSM models, such as models with extra dimensions, little Higgs and a fourth fermion generation, are presented. While a light Higgs mass is preferre…
In practice the asymmetry, which is defined based on the angular distribution of the final states in scattering or decay processes, can be utilized to scrutinize underlying dynamics in and/or beyond the standard model (BSM). As one of the possible BSM physics which might be discovered early at the LHC, extra neutral gauge bosons $Z^\prime$s are theoretical well motivated. Once $Z^\prime$s are discovered at the LHC, it is crucial to discriminate different $Z^\prime$s in various BSM. In principle such task can be accomplished by measuring the angular distribution of the final states which are pr…
Models of Beyond the Standard Model (BSM) physics, like the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM), often involve an extended Higgs sector, giving rise to extra neutral or charged Higgs bosons. The discovery reach expected from simulation studies for such additional Higgs particles is presented for the ATLAS, CMS and FP420 detectors at the LHC. Emphasis is put on production and decay modes involving heavy flavour b and tau particles, which are enhanced in large regions of BSM parameter space. The LHC experiments are indeed particularly well equipped to tackle final states containing heav…
The particle discovered in the Higgs boson searches at the LHC with a mass of about 125 GeV is compatible within the present uncertainties with the Higgs boson predicted in the Standard Model (SM), but it could also be identified with one of the neutral Higgs bosons in a variety of Beyond the SM (BSM) theories with an extended Higgs sector. The possibility that an additional Higgs boson (or even more than one) could be lighter than the state that has been detected at 125 GeV occurs generically in many BSM models and has some support from slight excesses that were observed above the background …
The Fermi constant ($G_F$) is extremely well measured through the muon lifetime, defining one of the key fundamental parameters in the Standard Model (SM). Therefore, to search for physics beyond the SM (BSM) via $G_F$, the constraining power is determined by the precision of the second-best independent determination of $G_F$. The best alternative extractions of $G_F$ proceed either via the global electroweak (EW) fit or from superallowed $β$ decays in combination with the Cabibbo angle measured in kaon, $τ$, or $D$ decays. Both variants display some tension with $G_F$ from muon decay, albeit …
Run 2 LHC data show hints of a new resonance in the diphoton distribution at an invariant mass of 750 GeV. We analyse the data in terms of a new boson, extracting information on its properties and exploring theoretical interpretations. Scenarios covered include a narrow resonance and, as preliminary indications suggest, a wider resonance. If the width indications persist, the new particle is likely to belong to a strongly-interacting sector. We also show how compatibility between Run 1 and Run 2 data is improved by postulating the existence of an additional heavy particle, whose decays are pos…
The discovery potentials of ATLAS and CMS experiments at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) for Supersimmetry (SUSY), Extra Dimensions (ED), new Gauge Bosons and R-Hadrons are discussed. Beyond Standard-Model (BSM) searches at LHC require a detailed understanding of the detector performance, reconstruction algorithms and triggering. Precision measurements of Standard Model (SM) processes are also mandatory to acquire the necessary knowledge of SM background. Both ATLAS and CMS efforts are hence addressed to determine the best calibration candles and to design a realistic plan for the initial peri…
Using firmly established experimental inputs such as epsilon_K, Delta M_d, Delta M_s, BR(B -> tau nu), gamma, V_cb along with corresponding lattice matrix elements which have been well studied and are in full QCD such as B_K, SU3 breaking ratio xi, B_Bs and in particular without using V_ub or the pseudoscalar decay constants f_Bd or f_Bs from the latice, we show that the CKM-paradigm now appears to be in serious conflict with the data. Specifically the SM predicted value of sin(2 beta) seems too high compared to direct experimental measured value by over 3 sigma. Furthermore, our studiy shows …
We examine the first ATLAS Collaboration 8 TeV 5.8/fb supersymmetry (SUSY) multijet data observations in the context of No-Scale Flipped SU(5) with extra TeV-Scale vector-like flippon multiplets, dubbed F-SU(5), finding that the recent 8 TeV collider data is statistically consistent with our prior 7 TeV results. Furthermore, we synthesize all currently ongoing experiments searching for beyond the Standard Model (BSM) physics with this fit to the 8 TeV data, establishing a suggestive global coherence within a No-Scale F-SU(5) high-energy framework. The SUSY mass scale consistent with all BSM da…
The Future Circular Collider (FCC) is a post-LHC project aiming at searches for physics beyond the SM in a new 80--100~km tunnel at CERN. Running in its first phase as a very-high-luminosity electron-positron collider (FCC-ee), it will provide unique possibilities for indirect searches of new phenomena through high-precision tests of the SM. In addition, by collecting tens of ab$^{-1}$ integrated luminosity in the range of center-of-mass energies $\sqrt{s}$~=90--350~GeV, the FCC-ee also offers unique physics opportunities for precise measurements of QCD phenomena and of photon-photon collision…
The search for physics beyond the Standard Model (BSM) is one of the most important goals for the general purpose detector ATLAS at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. Already with early LHC data, the ATLAS experiment should be sensitive to discover physics beyond the Standard Model. This paper summarizes the prospects of the ATLAS experiment to find experimental evidence for Supersymmetry (SUSY) and Universal Extra Dimensions (UED) in channels with jets, leptons and missing transverse energy for an integrated luminosity of L = 200pb-1 at a centre-of-mass energy sqrt s = 10 TeV. Only a selectio…
