It is known that a five-dimensional free vector field $A_{M}$ cannot be localized on Randall-Sundrum (RS)-like thick branes, namely, the thick branes embedded in asymptotic Anti-de Sitter (AdS) spacetime. In order to localize a vector field on the RS-like thick brane, an extra coupling term should be introduced. In this paper, we generalize the geometrical coupling mechanism by adding two mass terms ($αRg^{MN}A_{M}A_{N}+βR^{MN}A_{M}A_{N}$) into the action. We decompose the fundamental vector field $A_{M}$ into three parts: transverse vector part $\hat{A}_μ$, scalar parts $ϕ$ and $A_{5}$. Then, we find that the transverse vector part $\hat{A}_μ$ decouples from the scalar parts. In order to eliminate the tachyonic modes of $\hat{A}_μ$, the two coupling parameters $α$ and $β$ should satisfy a relation. Combining the restricted condition, we can get a combination parameter as $γ=\frac{3}{2}\pm\sqrt{1+12α}$. Only if $γ>1/2$, the zero mode of $\hat{A}_μ$ can be localized on the RS-like thick brane. We also investigate the resonant character of the vector part $\hat{A}_μ$ for the general RS-like thick brane with the warp factor $A(z)=-\ln(1+k^2z^2)/2$ by choosing the relative probability method. The result shows that, only for $γ>3$, the massive resonant Kaluza-Klein modes can exist. The number of resonant Kaluza-Klein states increases with the combination parameter $γ$, and the lifetime of the first resonant state can be long enough as the age of our universe. This indicates that the vector resonances might be considered as one of the candidates of dark matter.
We present thick de Sitter brane solutions which are supported by two interacting {\it phantom} scalar fields in five-, six- and seven-dimensional spacetime. It is shown that for all cases regular solutions with anti-de Sitter asymptotic (5D problem) and a flat asymptotic far from the brane (6D and 7D cases) exist. We also discuss the stability of our solutions.
We perform some analytic continuations of the de Sitter thick domain wall solutions obtained in our previous paper hep-th/0201130 in the system of gravity and a scalar field with an axion-like potential. The obtained new solutions represent anti-de Sitter thick domain walls and cosmology. The anti-de Sitter domain wall solutions are periodic, and correspondingly the cosmological solutions represent cyclic universes. We parameterize the axion-like scalar field potential and determine the parameter regions of each type of solutions.
The embedding of a thick de Sitter 3-brane into a five-dimensional bulk is studied, assuming a scalar field with potential is present in the bulk. A class of solutions is found in closed form that can represent a thick de Sitter 3-brane interpolating either between two dynamical black holes with a $R \times S_{4}$ topology or between two Rindler-like spacetimes with a $R_{2}\times S_{3}$ topology. The gravitational field is localized in a small region near the center of the 3-brane. The analysis of graviton fluctuations shows that a zero mode exists and separates itself from a set of continuou…
We obtain and study an analytical solution of a de-Sitter thick domain wall in five-dimensional Einstein gravity interacting with a scalar field. The scalar field potential is axion-like, V(phi)=a+b cos(phi) with constants a,b satisfying -3b<5a<3b, and the solution is expressed in terms of elliptic functions.
We investigate quantum fluctuations on a de Sitter (dS) brane, which has its own thickness, in order to examine whether or not the finite thickness of the brane can act as a natural cut-off for the Kaluza-Klein (KK) spectrum. We calculate the amplitude of the KK modes and the bound state by using the zeta function method after a dimensional reduction. We show that the KK amplitude is finite for a given brane thickness and in the thin wall limit the standard surface divergent behavior is recovered. The strength of the divergence in the thin wall limit depends on the number of dimensions, e.g., l…
In this paper, we investigate the localization of a five-dimensional vector field on a pure geometrical thick brane. In previous work, it was shown that a free massless vector field cannot be localized on such thick brane. Hence we introduce the interaction between the vector field and the background scalar field. Two types of couplings are constructed as examples. We get a typical volcano potential for the first type of coupling and a finite square-well-like potential for the second one. Both of the two types of couplings ensure that the vector zero mode can be localized on the pure geometric…
In this paper, we investigate the localization and the mass spectra of gravity and various bulk matter fields on a thick anti-de Sitter (AdS) brane, by presenting the mass-independent potentials of the Kaluza-Klein (KK) modes in the corresponding Schrödinger equations. For gravity, the potential of the KK modes tends to infinity at the boundaries of the extra dimension, which leads to an infinite number of the bound KK modes. Although the gravity zero mode cannot be localized on the AdS brane, the massive modes are trapped on the brane. The scalar perturbations of the thick AdS brane have been…
In this paper, we consider a de Sitter thick brane model in a pure geometric Weyl integrable five-dimensional space-time, which is a generalization of Riemann geometry and is invariant under a so-called Weyl rescaling. We find a solution of this model via performing a conformal transformation to map the Weylian structure into a familiar Riemannian one with a conformal metric. The metric perturbations of the model are discussed. For gravitational perturbation, we get the effective modified P$\ddot{\text{o}}$schl-Teller potential in corresponding Schr$\ddot{\text{o}}$dinger equation for Kaluza-K…
Among the multiple 5D thick braneworld models that have been proposed in the last years, in order to address several open problems in modern physics, there is a specific one involving a tachyonic bulk scalar field. Delving into this framework, a thick braneworld with a cosmological background induced on the brane is here investigated. The respective field equations --- derived from the model with a warped 5D geometry --- are highly non-linear equations, admitting a non-trivial solution for the warp factor and the tachyon scalar field as well, in a de Sitter 4D cosmological background. Moreover…
In this letter, we first investigate the gravity localization and mass spectrum of gravity KK modes on de Sitter and Anti-de Sitter thick branes. Then, the effective Newtonian gravitational potentials for these bent branes are discussed by the two typical examples. The corrections of the Newtonian potential turns out to be $ΔU(r)\sim 1/r^{2}$ at small $r$ for both cases. These corrections are very different from that of the Randall-Sundrum brane model $ΔU(r)\sim 1/r^{3}$.
An information-geometrical interpretation of AdS3/CFT2 correspondence is given. In particular, we consider an inverse problem in which the classical spacetime metric is given in advance and then we find what is the proper quantum information that is well stored into the spacetime. We see that the Fisher metric plays a central role on this problem. Actually, if we start with the two-dimensional hyperbolic space, a constant-time surface in AdS3, the resulting singular value spectrum of the quantum state shows power law for the correlation length with conformal dimension proportional to the curva…
Three types of thick branes, i.e., Poincaré, de Sitter and Anti-de Sitter brane are considered. They are realized as the non-singular solutions of the Einstein equations with the non-trivial dilatons and the potentials. The scalar perturbations of these systems are also investigated. We find that the effective potentials of the master equations of the scalar perturbations are positive definite and consequently these systems are stable under the small perturbations.
This letter aims to analyse the so-called configurational entropy in the Weyl pure geometrical thick brane model. The Weyl structure plays a prominent role in the thickness of this model. We find a set of parameters associated to the brane width where the configurational entropy exhibits critical points. Furthermore, we show, by means of this information-theoretical measure, that a stricter bound on the parameter of Weyl pure geometrical brane model arises from the CE.
In this work we present a simple thick braneworld model that is generated by an intriguing interplay between a 5D cosmological constant with a de Sitter metric induced in the 3-brane without the inclusion of scalar fields. We show that 4D gravity is localized on this brane, provide analytic expressions for the massive Kaluza-Klein (KK) fluctuation modes and also show that the spectrum of metric excitations displays a mass gap. We finally present the corrections to Newton's law due to these massive modes. This model has no naked singularities along the fifth dimension despite the existence of a…
In this work we show that universal gauge vector fields can be localized on the recently proposed 5D thick tachyonic braneworld which involves a de Sitter cosmological background induced on the 3-brane. Namely, by performing a suitable decomposition of the vector field, the resulting 4D effective action corresponds to a massive gauge field, while the profile along the extra dimension obeys a Schroedinger-like equation with a Poeschl-Teller potential. It turns out that the massless zero mode of the gauge field is bound to the expanding 3-brane and allows us to recover the standard 4D electromag…
An asymmetric thick domain wall solution with de Sitter ($dS$) expansion in five dimensions can be constructed from a symmetric one by using a same scalar (kink) with different potentials. In this paper, by presenting the mass-independent potentials of Kaluza--Klein (KK) modes in the corresponding Schrödinger equations, we investigate the localization and mass spectra of various bulk matter fields on the symmetric and asymmetric $dS$ thick branes. It is shown that the spectrum of scalar KK modes on the symmetric $dS$ brane contains only one bound mode (the massless mode). However, for the asym…
We propose new braneworld models arising from a scalar field in the bulk. In these examples, the induced on--brane line element is de Sitter (or anti de Sitter) and the bulk (five dimensional) Einstein equations can be exactly solved to obtain warped spacetimes. The solutions thus derived are single and two-brane models -- one with {\em thin} branes while the other one of the {\em thick} variety. The field profiles and the potentials are obtained and analysed for each case. We note that for the {\em thick} brane scenario the field profile resembles a kink, whereas for one or more {\em thin} br…
In arXiv:0901.3543, the simplest Yukawa coupling $η\barΨϕχΨ$ was considered for a two-scalar-generated Bloch brane model. Fermionic resonances for both chiralities were obtained, and their appearance is related to branes with internal structure. Inspired on this result, we investigate the localization and resonance spectrum of fermions on a one-scalar-generated $dS$ thick brane with a class of scalar-fermion couplings $η\barΨϕ^kΨ$ with positive odd integer $k$. A set of massive fermionic resonances for both chiralities are obtained when provided large couple constant $η$. We find that the mass…
We study the semiclassical evolution of a self-gravitating thick shell in Anti-de Sitter space-time. We treat the matter on the shell as made of quantized bosons and evaluate the back-reaction of the loss of gravitational energy which is radiated away as a non-adiabatic effect. A peculiar feature of anti-de Sitter is that such an emission also occurs for large shell radius, contrary to the asymptotically flat case.
We study a massive scalar field theory in de Sitter space. Using worldline instanton approach, we calculate probability of pair production in weak-field limit. In addition to exponential factor we derive pre-exponential factor. Within this approach the vanishing probability for odd-dimensional de Sitter space gets a clear geometrical interpretation. We find leading contribution to imaginary part of two point correlator in $ϕ^3$-theory.
The previous discussion \cite{ezawa} on reducing the phase space of the first order Einstein gravity in 2+1 dimensions is reconsidered. We construct a \lq\lq correct" physical phase space in the case of positive cosmological constant, taking into account the geometrical feature of SO(3,1) connections. A parametrization which unifies the two sectors of the physical phase space is also given.
We study a class of three-point functions on the de Sitter universe and on the asymptotic cone. A blending of geometrical ideas and analytic methods is used to compute some remarkable integrals, on the basis of a generalized star-triangle identity living on the cone and on the complex de Sitter manifold. We discuss an application of the general results to the study of the stability of scalar particles on the Sitter universe.
Following Campos's work [Phys. Rev. Lett. 88, 141602 (2002)], we investigate the effects of temperature on flat, de Sitter (dS), and anti-de Following Campos's work [Phys. Rev. Lett. \textbf{88}, 141602 (2002)], we investigate the effects of temperature on flat, de Sitter (dS), and anti-de Sitter (AdS) thick branes in five-dimensional (5D) warped spacetime, and on the fermion (quasi-)localization. First, in the case of flat brane, when the critical temperature reaches, the solution of the background scalar field and the warp factor is not unique. So the thickness of the flat thick brane is unc…
We show the uniqueness of superpotentials leading to Minkowski vacua of single-field no-scale supergravity models, and the construction of dS/AdS solutions using pairs of these single-field Minkowski superpotentials. We then extend the construction to two- and multifield no-scale supergravity models, providing also a geometrical interpretation. We also consider scenarios with additional twisted or untwisted moduli fields, and discuss how inflationary models can be constructed in this framework.
Braneworld models may yield interesting effects ranging from high-energy physics to cosmology, or even some low-energy physics. Their mode structure modifies standard results in these physical realms that can be tested and used to set bounds on the models parameters. Now, to define braneworld deviations from standard 4D physics, a notion of matter and gravity localization on the brane is crucial. In this work we investigate the localization of universal massive scalar fields in a de Sitter thick tachyonic braneworld generated by gravity coupled to a tachyonic bulk scalar field. This braneworld…
In the literatures, several types of thick smooth brane configurations in a pure geometric Weyl integrable 5-dimensional space time have been presented. The Weyl geometry is a non-Riemannian modification of 5-dimensional Kaluza--Klein (KK) theory. All these thick brane solutions preserve 4-dimensional Poincaré invariance, and some of them break $Z_2$--symmetry along the extra dimension. In this paper, we study localization of various matter fields on these pure geometrical thick branes, which also localize the graviton. We present the shape of the potential of the corresponding Schr$\mathrm{\d…
In this paper we investigate the localization and mass spectra of matter fields with spin 0, 1 and 1/2 on a geometric thick brane generated by pure 4D and 5D positive cosmological constants without bulk scalar fields. This model possesses a 4D cosmological constant that can be made as small as one desires without fine-tuning it with the bulk cosmological constant. The RS model is obtained as an analytic continuation of the flat brane limit of this braneworld configuration when the Hubble parameter disappears. Within this inflating braneworld model it is possible to formulate a mechanism for ob…
We discuss dynamics of massive Klein-Gordon fields in two-dimensional Anti-de Sitter spacetimes ($AdS_2$), in particular conserved quantities and non-modal instability on the future Poincaré horizon called, respectively, the Aretakis constants and the Aretakis instability. We find out the geometrical meaning of the Aretakis constants and instability in a parallel-transported frame along a null geodesic, i.e., some components of the higher-order covariant derivatives of the field in the parallel-transported frame are constant or unbounded at the late time, respectively. Because $AdS_2$ is maxim…
The Noble Prize in physics 2016 motivates one to study different aspects of topological properties and topological defects as their related objects. Considering the significant role of the topological defects (especially magnetic strings) in cosmology, here, we will investigate three dimensional horizonless magnetic solutions in the presence of two generalizations: massive gravity and nonlinear electromagnetic field. The effects of these two generalizations on properties of the solutions and their geometrical structure are investigated. The differences between de Sitter and anti de Sitter solu…
In this work, following recent studies which show that it is possible to localize gravity as well as scalar and gauge vector fields in a tachyonic de Sitter thick braneworld, we investigate the localization of fermion fields in this model. In order to achieve this aim we consider the Yukawa interaction term between the fermions and the tachyonic condensate scalar field MF(T)barPsiPsi in the action and analyze four different cases corresponding to distinct tachyonic functions F(T(w)). The only condition that this function must satisfy in order to yield 4D chiral fermions upon dimensional reduct…
We show that the DBI action for the singlet sector of the tachyon in two-dimensional string theory has a SL(2,R) symmetry, a real-time counterpart of the ground ring. The action can be rewritten as that of point particles moving in a de Sitter space, whose coordinates are given by the value of the eigenvalue and time. The symmetry then manifests as the isometry group of de Sitter space in two dimensions. We use this fact to write the collective field theory for a large number of branes, which has a natural interpretation as a fermion field in this de Sitter space. After spending some time buil…
We apply the formalism of geometrothermodynamics to the case of black holes with cosmological constant in four and higher dimensions. We use a thermodynamic metric which is invariant with respect to Legendre transformations and determines the geometry of the space of equilibrium states. For all known black holes in higher dimensions, we show that the curvature scalar of the thermodynamic metric in all the cases is proportional to the heat capacity. As a consequence, phase transitions, which correspond to divergencies of the heat capacity, are represented geometrically as true curvature singula…
We investigate the spacetime of a thick gravitating domain wall for a general potential $V(Φ)$. Using general analytical arguments we show that all nontrivial solutions fall into two categories: those interpretable as an isolated domain wall with a cosmological event horizon, and those which are pure false vacuum de Sitter solutions. Although this latter solution is always unstable to the field rolling coherently to its true vacuum, we show that there is an additional instability to wall formation if the scalar field does not couple too strongly to gravity. Using the $λΦ^4$ and sine-Gordon mod…
Chern-Simons formulation of 2+1 dimensional Einstein gravity with a negative cosmological constant is investigated when the spacetime has the topology $ R\times T^{2}$. The physical phase space is shown to be a direct product of two sub-phase spaces each of which is a non-Hausdorff manifold plus a set with nonzero codimensions. Spacetime geometrical interpretation of each point in the phase space is also given and we explain the 1 to 2 correspondence with the ADM formalism from the geometrical viewpoint. In quantizing this theory, we construct a "modified phase space" which is a cotangnt bundl…
Different from the Dirac spinor, the localization of a five-dimensional Elko spinor on a brane with codimension one is very difficult because of the special structure of the Elko spinor. By introducing the coupling between the Elko spinor and the scalar field generating the brane, we have two mechanisms for localization of the zero mode of a five-dimensional Elko spinor on a brane. One is the Yukawa-type coupling and the other is the non-minimal coupling. In this paper, we investigate the localization of the Elko zero mode on de Sitter and Anti-de Sitter thick branes with the two localization …
We construct a first order parent field theory for free higher spin gauge fields on constant curvature spaces. As in the previously considered flat case, both Fronsdal's and Vasiliev's unfolded formulations can be reached by two different straightforward reductions. The parent theory itself is formulated using a higher dimensional embedding space and turns out to be geometrically extremely transparent and free of the intricacies of both of its reductions.
In this paper we show that one can have asymptotically de Sitter (dS), anti-de Sitter (AdS) and flat solutions in Gauss-Bonnet gravity without any need to a cosmological constant term in field equations. First, we introduce static solutions whose 3-surfaces at fixed $r$ and $t$ have constant positive ($k=1$), negative ($k=-1$), or zero ($k=0$) curvature. We show that for $k=\pm1$, one can have asymptotically dS, AdS and flat spacetimes, while for the case of $k=0$, one has only asymptotically AdS solutions. Some of these solutions present naked singularities, while some others are black hole o…
We study the region inside the event horizon of charged black holes in five dimensional asymptotically anti-de Sitter space, using as a probe two-sided correlators which are dominated by spacelike geodesics penetrating the horizon. The spacetimes we investigate include the Reissner-Nordstrom black hole and perturbations thereof. The perturbed spacetimes can be found exactly, enabling us to perform a local scan of the region between the inner and outer horizons. Surprisingly, the two-sided correlators we calculate seem to be geometrically protected from the instability of the inner horizon.
By presenting the mass-independent potentials of the Kaluza-Klein (KK) modes in the corresponding Schrödinger equations, we investigate the localization and mass spectra of various bulk matter fields on an AdS thick brane. For a spin 0 scalar $Φ$ coupled with itself and the domain-wall-forming field $ϕ$ via a coupling potential $V=(λϕ^{2}-u^{2})Φ^{2}+τΦ^{4}$, the localization and spectrum are decided by a critical coupling constant $λ_{0}$. When $λ>λ_0$, the potential of the scalar KK modes in the corresponding Schrödinger equation tends to infinite when far away from the brane, which results …
This thesis is organized as follows. In Chapter 2, some preliminaries are given on isometries and conformal symmetries, and we become familiar with the Virasoro algebra. Two examples of classical central charges are discussed. Chapter 3 contains an introduction to the Hamiltonian formulation of gauge theories in the context of Maxwell theory. The knowledge gained in Chapter 3 is applied to general relativity in Chapter 4. The Hamiltonian is shown to acquire a surface term due to the presence of the boundary. The geometrical properties of anti-de Sitter space and the BTZ black hole are the subj…
We study the thermodynamics of spherically symmetric, neutral and non-rotating black holes in conformal (Weyl) gravity. To this end, we apply different methods: (i) the evaluation of the specific heat; (ii) the study of the entropy concavity; (iii) the geometrical approach to thermodynamics known as \textit{thermodynamic geometry}; (iv) the Poincaré method that relates equilibrium and out-of-equilibrium thermodynamics. We show that the thermodynamic geometry approach can be applied to conformal gravity too, because all the key thermodynamic variables are insensitive to Weyl scaling. The first …
We briefly review the remarkable connections between light-front QCD, gravity in AdS space, and conformal quantum mechanics. We discuss, in particular, the group theoretical and geometrical aspects of the underlying one-dimensional quantum field theory. The resulting effective theory leads to a phenomenologically successful confining interaction potential in the relativistic light-front wave equation which incorporates relevant non-perturbative dynamical aspects of hadron physics.
The solutions of $U(1)$ gauge-gravity coupling is one of the interesting models for analyzing the semi-classical nature of spacetime. In this regard, different well-known singular and nonsingular solutions have been taken into account. The paper at hand investigates the geometrical properties of the magnetic solutions by considering Maxwell and power Maxwell invariant (PMI) nonlinear electromagnetic fields in the context of massive gravity. These solutions are free of curvature singularity, but have a conic one which leads to presence of deficit/surplus angle. The emphasize is on modifications…
We discuss the backreaction of a massless, minimally coupled, quantized scalar field on a thick, two-dimensional de Sitter (dS) brane as an extension of our previous work. We show that a finite brane thickness naturally regularizes the backreaction on the brane. The quantum backreaction exhibits a quadratic divergence in the thin wall limit. We also give a theoretical bound on the brane thickness, in terms of the brane self-consistency of the quantum corrected Einstein equation, namely the requirement that the size of the backreaction should be smaller than that of the background stress-energy…
We consider the generation of thick brane configurations in a pure geometric Weyl integrable 5D space time which constitutes a non-Riemannian generalization of Kaluza-Klein (KK) theory. In this framework, we show how 4D gravity can be localized on a scalar thick brane which does not necessarily respect reflection symmetry, generalizing in this way several previous models based on the Randall-Sundrum (RS) system and avoiding both, the restriction to orbifold geometries and the introduction of the branes in the action by hand. We first obtain a thick brane solution that preserves 4D Poincar'e in…
Brane-world models where observers are trapped within the thickness of a 3-brane offer novel perspectives on gravitation and cosmology. In this essay, I would argue that the problem of a late epoch acceleration of the universe is well explained in the framework of a 4-dimensional de Sitter universe embedded in a 5-dimensional de Sitter spacetime. While a 5D anti de Sitter space background is important for studying conformal field theories -- for its role in the AdS/CFT correspondence -- the existence of a 5-dimensional de Sitter space is crucial for finding an effective 4D Newton constant that…
According to Ryu and Takayanagi, the entanglement entropy in conformal field theory (CFT) is related through the AdS/CFT correspondence to the area of a minimal surface in the bulk. We study this holographic geometrical method of calculating the entanglement entropy in the vacuum case of a CFT which is holographically dual to empty anti-de Sitter (AdS) spacetime. Namely, we investigate the minimal surfaces spanned on boundaries of spherical domains at infinity of hyperbolic space, which represents a time-slice of AdS spacetime. We consider a generic position of two spherical domains: two disjo…
Generalized Friedmann equations governing the cosmological evolution inside a thick brane embedded in a five-dimensional Anti-de Sitter spacetime are derived. These equations are written in terms of four-dimensional effective brane quantities obtained by integrating, along the fifth dimension, over the brane thickness. In the case of a Randall-Sundrum type cosmology, different limits of these effective quantities are considered yielding cosmological equations which interpolate between the thin brane limit (governed by unconventional brane cosmology), and the opposite limit of an ``infinite'' b…
It was proposed by Ryu and Takayanagi that the entanglement entropy in conformal field theory (CFT) is related through the AdS/CFT correspondence to the area of a minimal surface in the bulk. We apply this holographic geometrical method of calculating the entanglement entropy to study the vacuum case of a CFT which is holographically dual to empty anti-de Sitter (AdS) spacetime. We present all possible minimal surfaces spanned on one or two spherical boundaries at AdS infinity. We give exact analytical expressions for the regularized areas of these surfaces and identify finite renormalized qua…
We consider the cosmology of a pair of domain walls bounding a five-dimensional bulk space-time with negative cosmological constant, in which the distance between the branes is not fixed in time. Although there are strong arguments to suggest that this distance should be stabilized in the present epoch, no such constraints exist for the early universe and thus non-static solutions might provide relevant inflationary scenarios. We find the general solution for the standard ansatz where the bulk is foliated by planar-symmetric hypersurfaces. We show that in all cases the bulk geometry is that of…
We study a smooth cosmological solution within a generalized 5D standing wave braneworld modeled by gravity and a phantom scalar field. In this model the 3-brane is anisotropically warped along its spatial dimensions and contains a novel time-dependent scale factor that multiplies the anisotropic spatial interval of the 5D metric, a fact that allows us to study cosmological effects. By explicitly solving the bulk field equations we found a natural mechanism which isotropizes the braneworld for a wide class of natural initial conditions. We are able to give a physical interpretation of the anis…
We present the generalized Friedmann equations describing the cosmological evolution of a finite thick brane immeresed in a five-dimensional Schwarzschild Anti-de Sitter spacetime. A linear term in the density in addition to a quatratic one arises in the Friedmann equation, leading to the standard cosmological evolution at late times without introducing an ad hoc tension term for the brane. The effective four-dimensional cosmological constant is then uplifted similar to the KKLT effect and vanishes for a brane thickness equal to the AdS curvature size, up to the third order of the thickness. T…
In this master thesis a configuration space method presented by C. Dullemond and E. van Beveren for computing all propagators of a scalar field (Wightman, Hadamard and Schwinger functions, retarded, advanced and Feynman propagator) is reviewed for four-dimensional Minkowski and Anti de Sitter spacetime AdS_4. This method is then applied for AdS_d as well as de Sitter spacetime dS_d of arbitrary dimension d, obtaining results in agreement with the literature. The advantages of the method are that it needs neither mode summation nor analytic continuation from euclidean time, while delivering the …
