We derive Frenet-type results and invariants of spatial curves immersed in $3$-dimensional generalized Minkowski spaces, i.e., in linear spaces which satisfy all axioms of finite dimensional real Banach spaces except for the symmetry axiom. Further on, we characterize cylindrical helices and rectifying curves in such spaces, and the computation of invariants is discussed, too. Finally, we study how translations of unit spheres influence invariants of spatial curves.
In this paper results from the differential geometry of curves are extended from normed planes to gauge planes which are obtained by neglecting the symmetry axiom. Based on the gauge analogue of the notion of Birkhoff orthogonality from Banach space theory, we study all curvature types of curves in gauge planes, thus generalizing their complete classification for normed planes. We show that (as in the subcase of normed planes) there are four such types, and we call them analogously Minkowski, normal, circular, and arc-length curvature. We study relations between them and extend, based on this,…
In the present paper, we give new Frenet formulas for the Bertrand partner curve by taking the advantage of relations between curvatures and a curve itself. Then making use of these formulas we write the differential equations and sufficient conditions of harmonicity of the Bertrand partner curve in terms of the main curve. Finally, we exemplify our assertions on the curve helix to see how the formulas we developed work.
We compute the algebra of differential invariants of unparametrized curves in the homogeneous G(2) flag varieties, namely in G(2)/P. This gives a solution to the equivalence problem for such curves. We consider the cases of integral and generic curves and relate the equivalence problems for all three choices of the parabolic subgroup P.

We propose a learning paradigm for the numerical approximation of differential invariants of planar curves. Deep neural-networks' (DNNs) universal approximation properties are utilized to estimate geometric measures. The proposed framework is shown to be a preferable alternative to axiomatic constructions. Specifically, we show that DNNs can learn to overcome instabilities and sampling artifacts and produce consistent signatures for curves subject to a given group of transformations in the plane. We compare the proposed schemes to alternative state-of-the-art axiomatic constructions of differe…
This paper describes the foundations of a differential geometry of a quaternionic curves. The Frenet-Serret equations and the evolutes and evolvents of a particular quaternionic curve are accordingly determined. This new formulation takes benefit of the quaternionic structure and the results are much simpler than the present formulations of quaternionic curves.
In this paper, we adapt the differential signature construction to the equivalence problem for complex plane algebraic curves under the actions of the projective group and its subgroups. Given an action of a group $G$, a signature map assigns to a plane algebraic curve another plane algebraic curve (a signature curve) in such a way that two generic curves have the same signatures if and only if they are $G$-equivalent. We prove that for any $G$-action, there exists a pair of rational differential invariants, called classifying invariants, that can be used to construct signatures. We derive a f…
