There is a long standing problem about how close a connection exists between superfluidity and Bose condensation. Employing recent technology, for the case of confined finite Bose condensed systems in TOP traps, these questions concerning superfluidity and Bose condensation can be partially resolved if the velocity profile of the trapped atoms can be directly measured.

We formulate a linear Schrodinger equation with the temperature-dependent potential for the one-particle density matrix and obtain the condensation temperature of the Bose-Einstein condensate from a bound-state condition for the Schrodinger equation both with and without the confining trap. The results are in very good agreement with those of the full statistical physics treatment. This is an alternative to the Bose-Einstein condensation in the standard ideal Bose gas treatment.
The density of bosonic states are calculated for spinless free massive bosons in generalised d dimensions. The number of bosons are calculated in the lowest energy state. The Bose Einstein condensation was found in generalised dimensions (on and above d = 3) and the condensation temperature was observed to drop abruptly above three dimensions and decreases monotonically as the dimensionalities of the system increases. The theory of Bose-Einstein condensation in a two-dimensional(2D) harmonic trap is developed from 2D Gross-Pitaevskii equation. The 2D interaction strength is obtained from a 2D collision theory. We show the realization of 2D condensation of trapped Bose atoms directly by obtaining the stable solutions for the condensate wave function from the 2D Gross-Pitaevskii equation. We calculate the ground-state energy of the 2D system, and also the wave function of the 2D vortex state. Thermodynamical quantities like the critical temperature are given in terms of the heat-kernel coefficients of the associated Schrödinger equation. It is shown that in the condensate state the dependence of thermodynamic quantities on the interaction constant does not allow an expansion in powers of the coupling constant. We study the Casimir effect for a 3-d system of ideal Bose gas in a slab geometry with Dirichlet boundary condition. We calculate the temperature($T$) dependence of the Casimir force below and above the Bose-Einstein condensation temperature($T_c$). At $T\le T_c$ the Casimir force vanishes as $[\frac{T}{T_c}]^{3/2}$. For $T\gtrsim T_c$ it weakly depends on temperature. For $T\gg T_c$ it vanishes exponentially. At each time step the network gains a vertex with probabilty $p$ and an edge with probability $1-p$. The new vertex has a fitness $(a,b)$ with probability $f(a,b)$. The hardcore-Bose-Hubbard model with random chemical potential is investigated using quantum Monte Carlo simulation. We consider two cases of random distribution of the chemical potential: a uniformly random distribution and a correlated distribution. The temperature dependences of the superfluid density, the specific heat, and the correlation functions are calculated. If the distribution of the randomness is correlated, there exists an intermediate state, which can be thought of as a localized condensate state of bosons, between the superfluid state and the normal state.

The relation between the bulk correlation length and the decay length of thermodynamic Casimir forces is investigated microscopically in two three-dimensional systems undergoing Bose-Einstein condensation: the perfect Bose gas and the imperfect mean-field Bose gas. Multistep Bose-Einstein condensation of an ideal Bose gas in anisotropic harmonic atom traps is studied. In the presence of strong anisotropy realized by the different trap frequency in each direction, finite size effect dictates a series of dimensional crossovers into lower-dimensional excitations. Two-step condensation and the dynamical reduction of the effective dimension can appear in three separate steps. When the multistep behavior occurs, the occupation number of atoms excited in each dimension is shown to behave similarly as a function of the temperature.

We present a scheme of analytical calculations determining the critical temperature and the number of condensed atoms of ideal gas Bose-Einstein condensation in external potentials with 1D, 2D or 3D periodicity. In particular we show that the width of the lowest energy band appears as the main parameter determining the critical temperature of condensation. Is obtained a very simple, proportional to 1/3 degree, regularity for this dependence. The fundamental role of tunneling in physics of condensate establishment is underscored.

We study the Bose-Einstein condensation of an interacting gas with attractive interaction confined in a harmonic trap using a semiclassical two-fluid mean-field model. The condensed state is described by converged numerical solution of the Gross-Pitaevskii equation. By solving the system of coupled equations of this model iteratively we obtain converged results for the temperature dependencies of the condensate fraction, chemical potential, and internal energy for the Bose-Einstein condensate of $^7$Li atoms.

The ground state of bosonic atoms in a trap has been shown experimentally to display Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC). We prove this fact theoretically for bosons with two-body repulsive interaction potentials in the dilute limit, starting from the basic Schroedinger equation; the condensation is 100% into the state that minimizes the Gross-Pitaevskii energy functional. This is the first rigorous proof of BEC in a physically realistic, continuum model.

The latter also hold true for the two-dimensional Fibonacci tiling.
