We apply the Bogoliubov inequality to the Bose-Hubbard model to rule out the possibility of Bose-Einstein condensation. The result holds in one and two dimensions, for any filling at any nonzero temperature. This result can be considered as complementary to analogous, classical result known for interacting bosons in continuum.
Using a specially tuned mean-field Bose gas as a reference system, we establish a positive lower bound on the condensate density for continuous Bose systems with superstable two-body interactions and a finite gap in the one-particle excitations spectrum, i.e. we prove for the first time standard homogeneous Bose-Einstein condensation for such interacting systems.
The ground state of bosonic atoms in a trap has been shown experimentally to display Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC). We prove this fact theoretically for bosons with two-body repulsive interaction potentials in the dilute limit, starting from the basic Schroedinger equation; the condensation is 100% into the state that minimizes the Gross-Pitaevskii energy functional. This is the first rigorous proof of BEC in a physically realistic, continuum model.
The imperfect Boson gas supplemented with a gentle repulsive interaction is completely solved. In particular it is proved that it has non-extensive Bose-Einstein condensation, i.e., there is condensation without macroscopic occupation of the ground state (k=0) level.
We show that Bose-Einstein condensate can be created in quasi-one-dimensional systems in a purely geometrical way, namely by bending or other suitable deformation of a tube.
The paper presents a review of results concerning the non-conventional dynamical condensation versus conventional Bose-Einstein condensation, including the case of generalised van den Berg-Lewis-Pulé condensate. The review is based on detailed discussion of two models: a simple toy model and the Bogoliubov Weakly Imperfect Bose-Gas model, which was invented for explanation of superflfluidity of liquid 4He, but which is also instructive for analysis of non-conventional condensation regarding some recent interpretations of experimental data.
In a previous paper we established that for the perfect Bose gas and the mean-field Bose gas with an external random or weak potential, whenever there is generalized Bose-Einstein condensation in the eigenstates of the single particle Hamiltonian, there is also generalized condensation in the kinetic energy states. In these cases Bose-Einstein condensation is produced or enhanced by the external potential. In the present paper we establish a criterion for the absence of condensation in single kinetic energy states and prove that this criterion is satisfied for a class of random potentials and …
In this paper we propose quantum graphs as one-dimensional models with a complex topology to study Bose-Einstein condensation and phase transitions in a rigorous way. We fist investigate non-interacting many-particle systems on quantum graphs and provide a complete classification of systems that exhibit Bose-Einstein condensation. We then consider models of interacting particles that can be regarded as a generalisation of the well-known Tonks-Girardeau gas. Here our principal result is that no phase transitions occur in bosonic systems with repulsive hardcore interactions, indicating an absenc…
We prove rigorously the occurrence of zero-mode Bose-Einstein condensation for a class of continuous homogeneous systems of boson particles with superstable interactions. This is the first example of a translation invariant continuous Bose-system, where the existence of the Bose-Einstein condensation is proved rigorously for the case of non-trivial two-body particle interactions, provided there is a large enough one-particle excitations spectral gap. The idea of proof consists of comparing the system with specially tuned soluble models.
We consider systems of bosons trapped in a box, in the Gross-Pitaevskii regime. We show that low-energy states exhibit complete Bose-Einstein condensation with an optimal bound on the number of orthogonal excitations. This extends recent results obtained in \cite{BBCS1}, removing the assumption of small interaction potential.
In the setting of the principle of local equilibrium which asserts that the temperature is a function of the energy levels of the system, we exhibit plenty of steady states describing the condensation of free Bosons which are not in thermal equilibrium. The surprising facts are that the condensation can occur both in dimension less than 3 in configuration space, and even in excited energy levels. The investigation relative to non equilibrium suggests a new approach to the condensation, which allows an unified analysis involving also the condensation of $q$-particles, $-1\leq q\leq 1$, where $q…
In this Note we investigate Bose-Einstein condensation in interacting quantum many-particle systems on graphs. We extend previous results obtained for particles on an interval and show that even arbitrarily small repulsive two-particle interactions destroy a condensate in the non-interacting Bose gas. Our results also cover singular two-particle interactions, such as the well-known Lieb-Lininger model, in the thermodynamic limit.
We show that a finite Hubbard-phonon interacting system exhibits phonon BEC at sufficiently low temperature. We also have the gauge symmetry breaking for phonons. The key tools are a unitary transformation introduced by Arai and Hirokawa \protect{\cite{AH1}} and the Araki-Woods representation. This system is essentially the same as a free system or the van Hove model.
Position distributions of constituent particles of the perfect Bose-gas trapped in exponentially and polynomially anisotropic boxes are investigated by means of the boson random point fields (processes) and by the spatial random distribution of particle density. Our results include the case of \textit{generalised} Bose-Einstein Condensation. For exponentially anisotropic quasi two-dimensional system (SLAB), we obtain \textit{three} qualitatively different particle density distributions. They correspond to the \textit{normal} phase, the quasi-condensate phase (type III generalised condensation)…
We present a rigorous study of the Bose-Einstein condensation in the Luttinger-Sy model. We prove the existence of the condensation in this one-dimensional model of the perfect boson gas placed in the Poisson random potential of singular point impurities. To tackle the off-diagonal long-range order we calculate explicitly the corresponding space-averaged one-body reduced density matrix. We show that mathematical mechanism of the Bose-Einstein condensation in this random model is similar to condensation in a one-dimensional nonrandom hierarchical model of scaled intervals. For the Luttinger-Sy …
We consider N bosons in a box with volume one, interacting through a two-body potential with scattering length of the order $N^{-1+κ}$, for $κ>0$. Assuming that $κ\in (0;1/43)$, we show that low-energy states of the system exhibit complete Bose-Einstein condensation by providing explicit bounds on the expectation and on higher moments of the number of excitations.
We study the perfect Bose gas in random external potentials and show that there is generalized Bose-Einstein condensation in the random eigenstates if and only if the same occurs in the one-particle kinetic-energy eigenstates, which corresponds to the generalized condensation of the free Bose gas. Moreover, we prove that the amounts of both condensate densities are equal. Our method is based on the derivation of an explicit formula for the occupation measure in the one-body kinetic-energy eigenstates which describes the repartition of particles among these non-random states. This technique can…
We give a new derivation of the variational formula for the pressure of the long-range-hopping Bose-Hubbard model, which was first proved in \cite{BD}. The proof is analogous to that of a theorem on noncommutative large deviations introduced by Petz, Raggio and Verbeure \cite{PRV} and could similarly be extended to more general Bose system of mean-field type. We apply this formalism to prove Bose-Einstein condensation for the case of small coupling.
We study the equilibrium Gibbs states for a Boson gas model, defined by Bru and Zagrebnov, which has two phase transitions of the Bose condensation type. The two phase transitions correspond to two distinct mechanisms by which these condensations can occur. The first (non-conventional) Bose condensation is mediated by a zero-mode interaction term in the Hamiltonian. The second is a transition due to saturation quite similar to the conventional Bose-Einstein (BE) condensation in the ideal Bose gas. Due to repulsive interaction in non-zero modes the model manifests a generalized type III, i.e., …
A well-known conjecture in mathematical physics asserts that the interacting Bose gas exhibits Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC) in the thermodynamic limit. We consider the Bose gas on certain hyperbolic spaces. In this setting, one obtains a short proof of BEC in the infinite-volume limit from the existence of a volume-independent spectral gap of the Laplacian.
We study in detail relevant spectral properties of the adjacency matrix of inhomogeneous amenable networks, and in particular those arising by negligible additive perturbations of periodic lattices. The obtained results are deeply connected to the systematic investigation of the Bose--Einstein condensation for the so called Pure Hopping model describing the thermodynamics of Bardeen--Cooper pairs of Bosons in arrays of Josephson junctions.
We consider a Bose gas consisting of $N$ particles in $\mathbb{R}^3$, trapped by an external field and interacting through a two-body potential with scattering length of order $N^{-1}$. We prove that low energy states exhibit complete Bose-Einstein condensation with optimal rate, generalizing previous work in \cite{BBCS1, BBCS4}, restricted to translation invariant systems. This extends recent results in \cite{NNRT}, removing the smallness assumption on the size of the scattering length.
In this paper the explicit flow representation to the Bose-Hubbard Hamiltonian is given in the general case. This representation may be useful in creating cat states for the system of atoms trapped in the optical ring.
We consider the low density limit of a Fermi gas in the BCS approximation. We show that if the interaction potential allows for a two-particle bound state, the system at zero temperature is well approximated by the Gross-Pitaevskii functional, describing a Bose-Einstein condensate of fermion pairs.
We consider systems of N bosons trapped on the two-dimensional unit torus, in the Gross-Pitaevskii regime, where the scattering length of the repulsive interaction is exponentially small in the number of particles. We show that low-energy states exhibit complete Bose-Einstein condensation, with almost optimal bounds on the number of orthogonal excitations.
I present the exact solution of a family of fragmented Bose-Hubbard models and represent the models as graphs in one-dimension, two-dimensions and three-dimensions with the condensates in the vertices. The models are solved by the algebraic Bethe ansatz method.
We study Bose gases in $d$ dimensions, $d \ge 2$, with short-range repulsive pair interactions, at positive temperature, in the canonical ensemble and in the thermodynamic limit. We assume the presence of hard Poissonian obstacles and focus on the non-percolation regime. For sufficiently strong interparticle interactions, we show that almost surely there cannot be Bose--Einstein condensation into a sufficiently localized, normalized one-particle state. The results apply to the eigenstates of the underlying one-particle Hamiltonian.
