Let R be a unitary ring of finite cardinality P^k, where p is a prime number and $p\nmid k$. We show that if the group of units of $R$ has at most one subgroup of order $p$, then $R\cong A\bigoplus B,$ where $B$ is a finite ring of order $k$ and $A$ is a ring of cardinality $p^β$ which is one of the six explicitly described types.

Unitary Subgroups of commutative group algebras of characteristic two

Let $FG$ be the group algebra of a finite $2$-group $G$ over a finite field $F$ of characteristic two and $\circledast$ an involution which arises from $G$. The $\circledast$-unitary subgroup of $FG$, denoted by $V_{\circledast}(FG)$, is defined to be the set of all normalized units $u$ satisfying the property $u^{\circledast}=u^{-1}$. In this paper we establish the order of $V_{\circledast}(FG)$ for all involutions $\circledast$ which arise from $G$, where $G$ is a finite cyclic $2$-group and show that all $\circledast$-unitary subgroups of $FG$ are not isomorphic.

On the order of the unitary subgroup of modular group algebra

Let KG be a group algebra of a finite p-group G over a finite field K of characteristic p. We compute the order of the unitary subgroup of the group of units when G is either an extraspecial 2-group or the central product of such a group with a cyclic group of order 4 or G has an abelian subgroup A of index 2 and an element b such that b inverts each element of A.

The Order of the Unitary Subgroups of Group Algebras

Let $FG$ be the group algebra of a finite $p$-group $G$ over a finite field $F$ of positive characteristic $p$. Let $\cd$ be an involution of the algebra $FG$ which is a linear extension of an anti-automorphism of the group $G$ to $FG$. If $p$ is an odd prime, then the order of the $\cd$-unitary subgroup of $FG$ is established. For the case $p=2$ we generalize a result obtained for finite abelian $2$-groups. On the Unitary Subgroups of group algebras

Let $FG$ be the group algebra of a finite $p$-group $G$ over a finite field $F$ of characteristic $p$ and $*$ the classical involution of $FG$. The $*$-unitary subgroup of $FG$, denoted by $V_*(FG)$, is defined to be the set of all normalized units $u$ satisfying the property $u^*=u^{-1}$. Isomorphism problem of Unitary Subgroups of Group Algebras

Let V_* be the normalized unitary subgroup of the modular group algebra FG of a finite p-group G over a finite field F with the classical involution *. We investigate the isomorphism problem for the group V_*, that asks when the group V_* is determined by its group algebra FG. We confirm it for classes of finite abelian p-groups, 2-groups of maximal class and non-abelian 2-groups of order at most 16.

A note on solvable maximal subgroups in subnormal subgroups of ${\mathrm GL}_n(D)$

Let $D$ be a non-commutative division ring, $G$ a subnormal subgroup of ${\mathrm GL}_n(D)$. In this note we show that if $G$ contains a non-abelian solvable maximal subgroup, then $n=1$ and $D$ is a cyclic algebra of prime degree over $F$.
