The modified gravity is considered in the framework of the holographic dark energy. An analysis of the autonomous system, the critical points and their stability is presented. Unlike the dark energy models based on $f(R)$, it is found that working in the holographic frame enriches the possibility of accelerated and matter type points for different cosmological scenarios, making viable trajectories of successful $f(R)$ models that are not allowed without the consideration of the holographic framework. The implications for the Hu-Sawicki model are analyzed.
In this letter we consider a correspondence between holographic dark energy and variable modified Chaplygin gas to obtain a holographic dark energy model of the universe. The corresponding potential of the scalar field has been reconstructed which describes the modified variable Chaplygin gas. The stability of the holographic dark energy in this case is also discussed.
We present a holographic dark energy model of the universe considering modified generalized Chaplygin gas (GCG). The modified GCG behaves as an ordinary barotropic fluid in the early epoch when the universe was tiny but behaves subsequently as a $Λ$CDM model at late epoch. An equivalent model with scalar field is obtained here by constructing the corresponding potential. The holographic dark energy is identified with the modified GCG and we determine the corresponding holographic dark energy field and its potential. The stability of the holographic dark energy in this case is also discussed.
We investigate the compact Kaluza-Klein cosmology in which modified holographic dark energy is interacting with dark matter. Using this scenario, we evaluate equation of state parameter as well as equation of evolution of the modified holographic dark energy. Further, it is shown that the generalized second law of thermodynamics holds without any constraint.
In this letter, we have considered that the universe is filled with normal matter and variable modified Chaplygin gas. Also we have considered the interaction between normal matter and variable modified Chaplygin gas in FRW universe. Then we have considered a correspondence between the holographic dark energy density and interacting variable modified Chaplygin gas energy density. Then we have reconstructed the potential of the scalar field which describes the variable modified Chaplygin cosmology.
A reconstruction of modified gravity is proposed by establishing a correspondence between the effective density of the modified gravity and the holographic density. The non-homogeneous term in the modified Friedmann equation, generated by the vacuum (holographic) energy density, lead to reconstructed models that contain explicitly, as part of the solution, the Einstein-Hilbert term. It was shown that the $Λ$CDM-type cosmic histories allow the general relativity Lagrangian with cosmological constant as a particular reconstructed solution. The Starobinsky term appears in some reconstructed solut…
In this paper, we analyze the holographic principle using loop quantum gravity (LQG). This will be done by using polymeric quantization for analysing the Yurtsever's holographic bound on the entropy, which is obtained from local quantum field theories. As the polymeric quantization is the characteristic feature of loop quantum gravity, we will argue that this calculation will indicate the effect of loop quantum gravity on the holographic principle. Thus, we will be able to explicitly demonstrate the violation of the holographic principle in the loop quantum gravity.
The purpose of this paper is to discuss the evolution of modified holographic dark energy with variable $G$ in non-flat Kaluza$-$Klein universe. We consider the non-interacting and interacting scenarios of the modified holographic dark energy with dark matter and obtain the equation of state parameter through logarithmic approach. It turns out that the universe remains in different dark energy eras for both cases. Further, we study the validity of the generalized second law of thermodynamics in this scenario. We also justify that the statefinder parameters satisfy the limit of $Λ$CDM model.
Recently one of us derived the action of modified gravity consistent with the holographic and new-agegraphic dark energy. In this paper, we investigate the stability of the Lagrangians of the modified gravity as discussed in [M. R. Setare, Int. J. Mod. Phys. D 17 (2008) 2219; M. R. Setare, Astrophys. Space Sci. 326 (2010) 27]. We also calculate the statefinder parameters which classify our dark energy model.
Dark Energy models are here investigated and studied in the framework of the Chern-Simons modified gravity model. We bring into focus the Holographic Dark Energy (HDE) model with Granda-Oliveros cut-off, the Modified Holographic Ricci Dark Energy (MHRDE) model and, moreover, a model with higher derivatives of the Hubble parameter as well. The relevant expressions of the scale factor a(t) for a Friedmann-Robertson-Walker Universe are derived and studied, and in this context, the evolution of the scale factor is shown to be similar to that one displayed by the modified Chaplygin gas in two of th…
The $f(R)$ gravity theory is considered. It is a gravitational theory that generalizes the Einstein-Hilbert action. In this context, a holographic dark energy model is studied. Tsallis non-extensive entropy is used to introduce the dark energy density based on the holographic principle. Then the Friedmann equation, deceleration parameter, and equation of state for this model are investigated.
We construct a holographic dark energy model in a braneworld setup that gravity is induced on the brane embedded in a bulk with Gauss-Bonnet curvature term. We include possible modification of the induced gravity and its coupling with a canonical scalar field on the brane. Through a perturbational approach to calculate the effective gravitation constant on the brane, we examine the outcome of this model as a candidate for holographic dark energy.
In the paper, we apply the weak gravity conjecture to the holographic quintessence model of dark energy. Three different holographic dark energy models are considered: without the interaction in the non-flat universe; with interaction in the flat universe; with interaction in the non-flat universe. We find that only in the models with the spatial curvature and interaction term proportional to the energy density of matter, it is possible for the weak gravity conjecture to be satisfied.
In this paper, we apply the holographic principle at the early universe, obtaining an inflation realization of holographic origin. First we show that under the consideration of extended infrared cut-offs, there exist a holographic correspondence of various F(R) (such as quadratic, cubic, exponential F(R) models) cosmological models in absence of matter fields. Then we establish that such holographic correspondence is not only confined to the vacuum F(R) gravity but also can be extended to the higher curvature models along with matter fields. In presence of matter field, in particular the secon…
It is well-known that $f(R)$ gravity models formulated in Einstein conformal frame are equivalent to Einstein gravity together with a minimally coupled scalar field. In this case, the scalar field couples with the matter sector and the coupling term is given by the conformal factor. We apply the holographic principle to such interacting models. In a spatially flat universe, we show that the Einstein frame representation of $f(R)$ models leads to a constant ratio of energy densities of dark matter to dark energy.
Here, we peruse cosmological usage of the most promising candidates of dark energy in the framework of f(R) theory. We reconstruct the different f(R) modified gravity models in the spatially flat FRW universe according to the ordinary and entropy-corrected versions of the holographic and new agegraphic dark energy models, which describe accelerated expansion of the universe. We also obtain the equation of state parameter of the corresponding f(R)-gravity models. We conclude that the holographic and new agegraphic f(R)-gravity models can behave like phantom or quintessence models. Whereas the e…
This paper is devoted to study some holographic dark energy models in the context of Chern-Simon modified gravity by considering FRW universe. We analyze the equation of state parameter using Granda and Oliveros infrared cut-off proposal which describes the accelerated expansion of the universe under the restrictions on the parameter $α$. It is shown that for the accelerated expansion phase $ -1<ω_Λ<-\frac{1}{3}$, the parameter $α$ varies according as $1<α<\frac{3}{2}$. Furthermore, for $0<α<1$, the holographic energy and pressure density illustrates phantom-like theory of the evolution when $…
The geometrical spectra in loop quantum gravity (LQG) suffer from ambiguity up to the free Immirzi parameter that is often determined by comparing results from the theory with the established dynamics at the black hole horizon. We address conceptual difficulties associated with such approaches and point out that the Immirzi parameter can be fixed naively by applying the LQG version of the equipartition rule at a holographic boundary such that the Hawking-Unruh temperature law follows. The value of the Immirzi parameter derived in this way should possess universal validity. This approach also p…
In this paper, we present a model for the late-time evolution of the universe where a dark energy-dark matter interaction is invoked. Dark energy is modeled through an holographic Ricci dark energy component. The model is embedded within an induced gravity brane-world model. For suitable choices of the interaction coupling, the big rip and little rip induced by the holographic Ricci dark energy, in a relativistic model and in an induced gravity brane-world model, are removed. In this scenario, the holographic dark energy will have a phantom-like behaviour even though the brane is asymptoticall…
Commonly used boundary conditions in reconstructing $f(T)$ gravity from holographic Ricci dark energy model (RDE) are found to cause some problem, we therefore propose new boundary conditions in this paper. By reconstructing $f(T)$ gravity from the RDE with these new boundary conditions, we show that the new ones are better than the present commonly used ones since they can give the physically expected information, which is lost when the commonly used ones are taken in the reconstruction, of the resulting $f(T)$ theory. Thus, the new boundary conditions proposed here are more suitable for the …
We define a "holographic limit" of Lancsoz-Lovelock theories at the Lagrangian level which gives three-dimensional modified gravity theories. We also show that this limit applies to more general classes of theories in higher dimensions provided that they admit the holographic c-theorem.
We show that field equations of some typical modified gravity theories can be recast as thermodynamic first law on dynamical holographic screens. The thermodynamic second law are also presented.
The present paper reports a holographic reconstruction scheme for $f(T,\mathcal T)$ gravity proposed in Harko et al. $\emph{JCAP}\; 12(2014)021$ where $T$ is the torsion scalar and $\mathcal{T}$ is the trace of the energy-momentum tensor considering future event horizon as the enveloping horizon of the universe. We have considered $f(T, \mathcal T)=T + γg(\mathcal T)$ and $f(T,\mathcal T) =β\mathcal T + g(T)$ for reconstruction. We observe that the derived $f(T,\mathcal T)$ models can represent phantom or quintessence regimes of the universe which are compatible with the current observational …
We analytically and numerically investigate the properties of s-wave holographic superconductors by considering the effects of scalar and gauge fields on the background geometry in five dimensional Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity. We assume the gauge field to be in the form of the Power-Maxwell nonlinear electrodynamics. We employ the Sturm-Liouville eigenvalue problem for analytical calculation of the critical temperature and the shooting method for the numerical investigation. Our numerical and analytical results indicate that higher curvature corrections affect condensation of the holographic…
We have discussed the correspondence of the well-accepted $f(G)$ gravity theory with two dark energy models : $(m,n)$-type holographic dark energy [$(m,n)$-type HDE] and entropy-corrected $(m,n)$-type holographic dark energy. For this purpose, we have considered the power law form of the scale factor $a(t)=a_{0}t^{p}, p>1$. The reconstructed $f(G)$ in these models have been found and the models in both cases are found to be realistic. We have also discussed the classical stability issues in both models. The $(m,n)$-type HDE and its entropy-corrected versions are more stable than the ordinary H…
We investigate the unified first law and the generalized second law in a modified holographic dark energy model. The thermodynamical analysis on the apparent horizon can work and the corresponding entropy formula is extracted from the systematic algorithm. The entropy correction term depends on the extra-dimension number of the brane as expected, but the interplay between the correction term and the extra dimensions is more complicated. With the unified first law of thermodynamics well-founded, the generalized second law of thermodynamics is discussed and it's found that the second law can be …
The present work is based on the idea of an interacting framework of new holographic dark energy with cold dark matter in the background of $f(T)$ gravity. Here, we have considered the flat modified Friedmann universe for $f(T)$ gravity which is filled with new Holographic dark energy and dark matter. We have derived some cosmological parameters like Deceleration parameter, EoS parameter, State-finder parameters, Cosmographic parameters, {\it Om} parameter and graphically investigated the nature of these parameters for the above mentioned interacting scenario. The results are found to be consi…
The holographic state of matter exists in the quantum gravitational regime, with black holes as the example. In this essay, we provide a microscopic derivation to the holographic thermodynamics and further discuss its implications for quantum gravity. Especially, we establish the link between holographic entropy and dimensional reduction. It seems that the fundamental physics behind black holes and the very early universe is $1+1$ dimensional.
It was recently observed in \cite{Park:2014tia} that the holographic nature of gravity may hold a key to quantization of gravity. The so-called "holographic quantization" has been carried out in \cite{Park:2014noa,Park:2015ota} for Einstein gravity in a flat background. Generalizing the procedure to a curved background is the main goal of the present work. In particular, we consider the Einstein action expanded around a Schwarzschild background
We consider the path-sum of Ponzano-Regge with additional boundary contributions in the context of the holographic principle of Quantum Gravity. We calculate an holographic projection in which the bulk partition function goes to a semi-classical limit while the boundary state functional remains quantum-mechanical. The properties of the resulting boundary theory are discussed.
Extending the holographic program of [1], we derive f(R) gravity and the Maxwell equations from the holographic principle, using time-like holographic screen. We find that to derive the Einstein equations and f(R) gravity in a natural holographic approach, the quasi-static condition is necessary. We also find the surface stress tensor and the surface electric current, surface magnetic current on the holographic screen for f(R) gravity and Maxwell's theory, respectively.
In this paper, we investigate the AC charge transport in the holographic Horndeski gravity and identify a metal-semiconductor like transition that is driven by the Horndeski coupling. Moreover, we fit our numeric data by the Drude formula in slow relaxation cases.
We study holographic renormalization of 3D minimal massive gravity using the Chern-Simons-like formulation of the model. We explicitly present Gibbons- Hawking term as well as all counterterms needed to make the action finite in terms of dreibein and spin-connection. This can be used to find correlation functions of stress tensor of holographic dual field theory.
In this paper, we generalize the study of the model of holographic superconductor in the excited states to the framework of massive gravity. By taking into account the effect of massive graviton, we numerically present a family of solutions of the holographic superconductor in excited states, and find that the critical temperatures can be higher due to the effect of massive graviton comparing with the superconductor in Einstein gravity. We also investigate the condensates and conductivities in the ground state and the excited states with studying various parameters that determine the framework…
Motivated by the recent works of us [1], we establish a correspondence between f(R)-gravity with the power-law entropy corrected holographic dark energy (PLECHDE) and new agegraphic dark energy (PLECNADE) models. We reconstruct corresponding f(R)-gravities and obtain the equation of state parameters. We show that the selected f(R)-gravity models can accommodate the transition from the quintessence state to the phantom regime as indicated by the recent observations.
In the present work, we reconstruct different f(T)-gravity models corresponding to the original and entropy-corrected version of the holographic and new agegraphic dark energy models. We also obtain the equation of state parameters of the corresponding f(T)-gravity models. We conclude that the holographic and new agegraphic f(T)-gravity models behave like phantom or quintessence model. Whereas in the entropy-corrected models, the equation of state parameter can justify the transition from the quintessence state to the phantom regime as indicated by the recent observations.
We study the holographic superconductors in f(R) gravity, and show how the critical temperature and the condensate of the dual operator depend on the modifications to Einstein gravity. We first review the black holes with constant curvature, which are clear in f(R) gravity. The dependencies are represented with the modified Newtonian constant and the effective cosmological constant trivially. Then we consider a planar black hole solution for a specific f(R) without imposing the constant curvature, which is asymptotic to AdS spacetime. The corrections to the thermal dynamics of the black holes,…
Standard methods for calculating the black hole entropy beyond general relativity are ambiguous when the horizon is non stationary. We fix these ambiguities in all quadratic curvature gravity theories, by demanding that the entropy be increasing at every time, for linear perturbations to a stationary black hole. Our result matches with the entropy formula found previously in holographic entanglement entropy calculations. We explicitly calculate the entropy increase for Vaidya-like solutions in Ricci-tensor gravity to show that (unlike the Wald entropy) the holographic entropy obeys a Second La…
We introduce higher-derivative Gauss-Bonnet correction terms in the gravity sector and we relate the modified gravity theory in the bulk to the strongly coupled quantum field theory on a de Sitter boundary. We study the process of holographic thermalization by examining three nonlocal observables, the two-point function, the Wilson loop and the holographic entanglement entropy. We study the time evolution of these three observables and we find that as the strength of the Gauss-Bonnet coupling is increased, the saturation time of the thermalization process to reach thermal equilibrium becomes s…
The vorticity statistics characterises both the direct and the inverse turbulent cascades of two-dimensional fluid flows. The fluid/gravity correspondence relates fluid flows to black brane dynamics. We construct the holographic vorticity for relativistic and non-relativistic fluids in terms of the gravitational black brane data, and relate it to the horizon vorticity expressed as a Weyl scalar. We discuss the statistical scaling structure of the horizon geometry.
The gravitational Lagrangian can be written as a summation of a bulk and a total derivative term. For some theories of gravity such as Einstein gravity, or more general Lovelock gravities, there are Lagrangian holographic relations between the bulk and the total derivative term such that the latter is fully determined by the former. However at the $D\rightarrow 2\&4$ limit, the bulks of Einstein or Gauss-Bonnet theories become themselves total derivatives. Performing the Kaluza-Klein reduction on Einstein and Gauss-Bonnet gravities gives rise to some two-dimensional or four-dimensional scalar-…
In this paper, we obtain a holographic model of dark energy using the fluid/gravity duality. This model will be dual to a higher dimensional Schwarzschild black hole, and we would use fluid/gravity duality to relate to the parameters of this black hole to such a cosmological model. We will also analyze the thermodynamics of such a solution, and discuss the stability model. Finally, we use cosmological data to constraint the parametric space of this dark energy model. Thus, we will use observational data to perform cosmography for this holographic model based on fluid/gravity duality.
In this work we construct holographic boundary theories for linearized 3D gravity, for a general family of finite or quasi-local boundaries. These boundary theories are directly derived from the dynamics of 3D gravity by computing the effective action for a geometric boundary observable, which measures the geodesic length from a given boundary point to some centre in the bulk manifold. We identify the general form for these boundary theories and find that these are Liouville like with a coupling to the boundary Ricci scalar. This is illustrated with various examples, which each offer interesti…
We employ the variational method for the Sturm-Liouville eigenvalue problem to analytically study the phase transition between the holographic insulator and superconductor in the Gauss-Bonnet gravity. By investigating the s-wave and p-wave holographic insulator/superconductor models, we find that this analytic method is more effective to obtain the analytic results on the condensation and the critical phenomena in the AdS soliton background in Gauss-Bonnet gravity. Our analytic result can be used to back up the numerical computations in the AdS soliton with Gauss-Bonnet correction.
We consider the problem of IR divergences of the action in the covariant formulation of teleparallel gravity in asymptotically Minkowski spacetimes. We show that divergences are caused by inertial effects and can be removed by adding an appropriate surface term, leading to the renormalized action. This process can be viewed as a teleparallel analogue of holographic renormalization. Moreover, we explore the variational problem in teleparallel gravity and explain how the variation with respect to the spin connection should be performed.
A holographic superconductor is constructed in the background of a massive gravity theory. In the normal state without condensation, the conductivity exhibits a Drude peak that approaches a delta function in the massless gravity limit as studied by David Vegh. In the superconducting state, besides the infinite DC conductivity, the AC conductivity has Drude behavior at low frequency followed by a power law-fall. These results are in agreement with that found earlier by Horowitz and Santos, who studied a holographic superconductor with an implicit periodic potential beyond the probe limit. The r…
The covariant phase space of three-dimensional asymptotically flat and anti-de Sitter gravity is controlled by well-understood coadjoint orbits of the Virasoro group. Detailed knowledge on the behavior of the energy functional on these orbits can be used to discuss positive energy theorems.
We investigate the holographic DC and Hall conductivity in massive Einstein-Maxwell-Dilaton (EMD) gravity. Two special EMD backgrounds are considered explicitly. One is dyonic Reissner-Nordstr$\ddot{o}$m-AdS (RN-AdS) geometry and the other one is hyperscaling violation AdS (HV-AdS) geometry. We find that the linear-T resistivity and quadratic-T inverse Hall angle can be simultaneously achieved in HV-AdS models, providing a hint to construct holographic models confronting with the experimental data of strange metal in future.
In this work we aim at discussing the effects of higher order corrections to curvature on the Lovelock AdS black holes quasinormal spectrum and, in the context of gauge/gravity correspondence, their consequences for the formation of holographic superconductors. We also explore the hydrodynamic limit of the $U(1)$ gauge field perturbations in $d$ dimensions.
In this paper we consider the holographic DC and Hall conductivity in Einstein-Maxwell-Dilaton in Gauss-Bonnet gravity with momentum dissipation. We analytically derived the DC conductivity and Hall conductivity from the black horizon data, and found that the conductivities are independent on the Gauss-Bonnet coupling. We also used the entropy function formalism to get the conductivities in terms of the charge of the black hole, even without knowing the explicit black hole solutions.
We argue that generic non-relativistic quantum field theories have a holographic description in terms of Horava gravity. We construct explicit examples of this duality embedded in string theory by starting with relativistic dual pairs and taking a non-relativistic scaling limit.
We study the Wilson line response in the holographic superconducting phase transitions in Gauss-Bonnet gravity. In the black brane background case, the Little-Parks periodicity is independent of the Gauss-Bonnet parameter, while in the AdS soliton case, there is no evidence for the Little-Parks periodicity. We further study the impact of the Gauss-Bonnet term on the holographic phase transitions quantitatively. The results show that such quantum corrections can effectively affect the occurrence of the phase transitions and the response to the Wilson line.
Self-duality in Euclidean gravitational set ups is a tool for finding remarkable geometries in four dimensions. From a holographic perspective, self-duality sets an algebraic relationship between two a priori independent boundary data: the boundary energy-momentum tensor and the boundary Cotton tensor. This relationship, which can be viewed as resulting from a topological mass term for gravity boundary dynamics, survives under the Lorentzian signature and provides a tool for generating exact bulk Einstein spaces carrying, among others, nut charge. In turn, the holographic analysis exhibits per…
We make a scalar representation of interactive models with cold dark matter and modified holographic Ricci dark energy through unified models driven by scalar fields with non-canonical kinetic term. These models are applications of the formalism of exotic k-essences generated by the global description of cosmological models with two interactive fluids in the dark sector and in these cases they correspond to usual k-essences. The formalism is applied to the cases of constant potential in Friedmann-Robertson-Walker geometries.
The requirement of the existence of a holographic c-function for higher derivative theories is a very restrictive one and hence most theories do not possess this property. Here, we show that, when some of the parameters are fixed, the $D\geq3$ Born-Infeld gravity theories admit a holographic c-function. We work out the details of the $D=3$ theory with no free parameters, which is a non-minimal Born-Infeld type extension of new massive gravity. Moreover, we show that these theories generate an infinite number of higher derivative models admitting a c-function in a suitable expansion and therefo…
We consider a very general dilaton-axion system coupled to Einstein-Hilbert gravity in arbitrary dimension and we carry out holographic renormalization for any dimension up to and including five dimensions. This is achieved by developing a new systematic algorithm for iteratively solving the radial Hamilton-Jacobi equation in a derivative expansion. The boundary term derived is valid not only for asymptotically AdS backgrounds, but also for more general asymptotics, including non-conformal branes and Improved Holographic QCD. In the second half of the paper, we apply the general result to Impr…
