Motivated by various applications and examples, the standard notion of potential for dynamical systems has been generalized to almost additive and asymptotically additive potential sequences, and the corresponding thermodynamic formalism, dimension theory and large deviations theory have been extensively studied in the recent years. In this paper, we show that every such potential sequence is actually equivalent to a standard (additive) potential in the sense that there exists a continuous potential with the same topological pressure, equilibrium states, variational principle, weak Gibbs measures, level sets (and irregular set) for the Lyapunov exponent and large deviations properties. In this sense, our result shows that almost and asymptotically additive potential sequences do not extend the scope of the theory compared to standard potentials, and that many results in the literature about such sequences can be recovered as immediate consequences of their counterpart in the additive case. A corollary of our main result is that all quasi-Bernoulli measures are weak Gibbs.
In this note we prove that every weak Gibbs measure for an asymptotically additive sequences is a Gibbs measure for another asymptotically additive sequence. In particular, a weak Gibbs measure for a continuous potential is a Gibbs measure for an asymptotically additive sequence. This allows, for example, to apply recent results on dimension theory of asymptotically additive sequences to study multifractal analysis for weak Gibbs measure for continuous potentials.
Using an asymptotically additive sequence of continuous functions as a restrictive condition, this paper studies the relations of several ergodic averages for asymptotically additive potentials. Basic properties of conditional maximum ergodic averages are studied. In particular, if the dynamical systems satisfy the specification property, the maximal growth rate of an asymptotically additive potential on the level set is equal to its conditional maximum ergodic averages and the maximal growth rates on the irregular set is its maximum ergodic averages. Finally, the applications for suspension f…
Let $(X,d,f)$ be a dynamical system, where $(X,d)$ is a compact metric space and $f:X\rightarrow X$ is a continuous map. Using the concepts of \textit{g-almost product property} and \textit{uniform separation property} introduced by Pfister and Sullivan in \cite{Pfister2007}, we give a variational principle for certain non-compact with relation the asymptotically additive topological pressure. We also study the set of points that are irregular for an collection finite or infinite of asymptotically additive sequences and we show that carried the full asymptotically additive topological pressure…
For general asymptotically sub-additive potentials (resp. asymptotically additive potentials) on general topological dynamical systems, we establish some variational relations between the topological entropy of the level sets of Lyapunov exponents, measure-theoretic entropies and topological pressures in this general situation. Most of our results are obtained without the assumption of the existence of unique equilibrium measures or the differentiability of pressure functions. Some examples are constructed to illustrate the irregularity and the complexity of multifractal behaviors in the sub-a…
This paper defines the pressure for asymptotically subadditive potentials under a mistake function, including the measuretheoretical and the topological versions. Using the advanced techniques of ergodic theory and topological dynamics, we reveals a variational principle for the new defined topological pressure without any additional conditions on the potentials and the compact metric space.
This paper is devoted to the study of the topological pressure dimension for almost additive sequences, which is an extension of topological entropy dimension. We investigate fundamental properties of the topological pressure dimension for almost additive sequences. In particular, we study the relationships among different types of topological pressure dimension and identifies an inequality relating them. Also, we show that the topological pressure dimension is always equal to or greater than 1 for certain special almost additive sequence.
We conduct the multifractal analysis of the level sets of the asymptotic behavior of almost-additive continuous potentials $(ϕ_n)_{n=1}^\infty$ on a topologically mixing subshift of finite type $X$ endowed itself with a metric associated with such a potential. We work without bounded distorsion property assumption. We express the whole Hausdorff spectrum in terms of a conditional variational principle, as well as a new large deviations principle. Our approach provides a new description of the structure of the spectrum in terms of {\it weak} concavity. Another new point is that we consider sets…
We introduce a definition of pressure for almost-additive sequences of continuous functions defined over (non-compact) countable Markov shifts. The variational principle is proved. Under certain assumptions we prove the existence of Gibbs and equilibrium measures. Applications are given to the study of maximal Lypaunov exponents of product of matrices.
In this paper we introduce a notion of free energy and large deviations rate function for asymptotically additive sequences of potentials via an approximation method by families of continuous potentials. We provide estimates for the topological pressure of the set of points whose non-additive sequences are far from the limit described through Kingman's sub-additive ergodic theorem and give some applications in the context of Lyapunov exponents for diffeomorphisms and cocycles, and Shannon-McMillan-Breiman theorem for Gibbs measures.
In this paper we establish asymptotic (biasymptotic) equivalence between spaces of solutions of a given linear homogeneous system and a perturbed system. The perturbations are of either linear or weakly linear characters. Existence of a homeomorphism between subspaces of almost periodic and asymptotically (biasymptotically) almost periodic solutions is also obtained.
This paper is devoted to study ergodic optimisation problems for almost-additive sequences of functions (rather than a fixed potential) defined over countable Markov shifts (that is a non-compact space). Under certain assumptions we prove that any accumulation point of a family of Gibbs equilibrium measures is a maximising measure. Applications are given in the study of the joint spectral radius and to multifractal analysis of Lyapunov exponent of non-conformal maps.
In this paper we prove a general convergence theorem for almost-additive set functions on unimodular, amenable groups. These mappings take their values in some Banach space. By extending the theory of epsilon-quasi tiling techniques, we set the ground for far-reaching applications in the theory of group dynamics. In particular, we verify the almost-everywhere convergence of abstract approximable bounded, additive processes, as well as a Banach space approximation result for the spectral distribution function (integrated density of states) for random operators on discrete structures in a metric…
Statistical inference can be seen as information processing involving input information and output information that updates belief about some unknown parameters. We consider the Bayesian framework for making inferences about dynamical systems from ergodic observations, where the Bayesian procedure is based on the Gibbs posterior inference, a decision process generalization of standard Bayesian inference where the likelihood is replaced by the exponential of a loss function. In the case of direct observation and almost-additive loss functions, we prove an exponential convergence of the a poster…
We obtain large deviation bounds for the measure of deviation sets associated to asymptotically additive and sub-additive potentials under some weak specification properties. In particular a large deviation principle is obtained in the case of uniformly hyperbolic dynamical systems. Some examples in connection with the convergence of Lyapunov exponents are given.
Let $(X, σ_X), (Y, σ_Y)$ be one-sided subshifts with the specification property and $π:X\rightarrow Y$ a factor map. Let $μ$ be a unique invariant Gibbs measure for a sequence of continuous functions $\F=\{\log f_n\}_{n=1}^{\infty}$ on $X$, which is an almost additive potential with bounded variation. We show that $πμ$ is also a unique invariant Gibbs measure for a sequence of continuous functions $\G=\{\log g_n\}_{n=1}^{\infty}$ on $Y$. When $(X, σ_X)$ is a full shift, we characterize $\G$ and $μ$ by using relative pressure. This almost additive potential $\G$ is a generalization of a continu…
We conduct the multifractal analysis of the level sets of the asymptotic behavior of almost additive continuous potentials $(ϕ_n)_{n=1}^\infty$ on a topologically mixing subshift of finite type $X$ endowed itself with a metric associated with such a potential. We work without additional regularity assumption other than continuity. Our approach differs from those used previously to deal with this question under stronger assumptions on the potentials. As a consequence, it provides a new description of the structure of the spectrum in terms of {\it weak} concavity. Also, the lower bound for the s…
The aim of this paper is to describe the structure of global attractors for non-autonomous difference systems of equations with recurrent (in particular, almost periodic) coefficients. We consider a special class of this type of systems (the so--called weak convergent systems). We study this problem in the framework of general non-autonomous dynamical systems (cocycles). We apply the general results obtained in our early papers to study the almost periodic (almost automorphic, recurrent) and asymptotically almost periodic (asymptotically almost automorphic, asymptotically recurrent) solutions …
In topics such as the thermodynamic formalism of linear cocycles, the dimension theory of self-affine sets, and the theory of random matrix products, it has often been found useful to assume positivity of the matrix entries in order to simplify or make feasible certain types of calculation. It is natural to ask how positivity may be relaxed or generalised in a way which enables similar calculations to be made in more general contexts. On the one hand one may generalise by considering almost additive or asymptotically additive potentials which mimic the properties enjoyed by the logarithm of th…
Let $(X,T)$ and $(Y,S)$ be two subshifts so that $Y$ is a factor of $X$. For any asymptotically sub-additive potential $Φ$ on $X$ and $\ba=(a,b)\in\R^2$ with $a>0$, $b\geq 0$, we introduce the notions of $\ba$-weighted topological pressure and $\ba$-weighted equilibrium state of $Φ$. We setup the weighted variational principle. In the case that $X, Y$ are full shifts with one-block factor map, we prove the uniqueness and Gibbs property of $\ba$-weighted equilibrium states for almost additive potentials having the bounded distortion properties. Extensions are given to the higher dimensional wei…
Using properties of asymptotically almost periodic solutions we prove existence theorem for piece-wise continuous almost periodic solutions of differential equations with delay and impulses. We apply these results to study almost periodic single species model with stage structure and impulses.
