Searches for physics beyond the standard model with the $M_\mathrm{T2}$ variable in hadronic final states with and without disappearing tracks in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s} =$ 13 TeV
Two related searches for phenomena beyond the standard model (BSM) are performed using events with hadronic jets and significant transverse momentum imbalance. The results are based on a sample of proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC in 2016-2018 and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 137 fb$^{-1}$. The first search is inclusive, based on signal regions defined by the hadronic energy in the event, the jet multiplicity, the number of jets identified as originating from bottom quarks, and the value of the kinematic variable $M_\mathrm{T2}$ for events with at least two jets. For events with exactly one jet, the transverse momentum of the jet is used instead. The second search looks in addition for disappearing tracks produced by BSM long-lived charged particles that decay within the volume of the tracking detector. No excess event yield is observed above the predicted standard model background. This is used to constrain a range of BSM models that predict the following: the pair production of gluinos and squarks in the context of supersymmetry models conserving $R$-parity, with or without intermediate long-lived charginos produced in the decay chain; the resonant production of a colored scalar state decaying to a massive Dirac fermion and a quark; or the pair production of scalar and vector leptoquarks each decaying to a neutrino and a top, bottom, or light-flavor quark. In most of the cases, the results obtained are the most stringent constraints to date.
Higgsino in supersymmetric standard models is known to be a promising candidate for dark matter in the Universe. Its phenomenological property is strongly affected by the gaugino fraction in the Higgsino-like state. If this is sizable, in other words, if gaugino masses are less than ${\cal O}(10)$ TeV, we may probe the Higgsino dark matter in future non-accelerator experiments such as dark matter direct searches and measurements of electric dipole moments. On the other hand, if gauginos are much heavier, then it is hard to search for Higgsino in these experiments. In this case, due to a lack o…
Selected results from searches for new physics with unconventional signatures using the ATLAS and CMS detectors are presented. Such signatures include emerging jets, heavy charged particles, displaced or delayed objects, and disappearing tracks. These signatures may arise from hidden sectors or supersymmetric models. The searches use proton-proton collision data from Run 2 of the LHC with a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV.
We investigate a prospect of probing the type-III seesaw neutrino mass generation mechanism at various collider experiments by searching for a disappearing track and a displaced vertex signature originating from the decay of $SU(2)_L$ triplet fermion ($Σ$). Since $Σ$ is primarily produced at colliders through the electroweak gauge interactions, its production rate is uniquely determined by its mass. We find that a $Σ$ particle with a mass of a few hundred GeV produces a disappearing track signature from the decay of its charged component, which can be searched at the HL-LHC. Furthermore, we sh…
Considering the supersymmetric model with the long-lived charged Higgsino, we discuss how Higgsino kink signals can show up in the latest LHC Disappearing Track (DT) and stable chargino searches. We derive constraints on the Higgsino kink signal, and characterize it in comparison to the Wino DT and the slepton kink track. We also discuss how to infer Higgsino model kinematics.
The CMS and ATLAS search strategy for SUSY in inclusive multijet plus high missing transverse energy final states is reviewed. This canonical SUSY signature may be a viable discovery channel for low mass SUSY in the early phase of the LHC. Methods for Standard Model background estimates, MET studies and filters for instrumental background are presented.
Searches for third-generation squarks in fully hadronic final states are presented using data samples corresponding to integrated luminosities of 19.4 or 19.7 inverse femtobarns, collected at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 TeV with the CMS detector at the LHC. Three mutually exclusive searches are presented, each optimized for a different decay topology. They include a multijet search requiring one fully reconstructed top quark, a dijet search requiring one or two jets originating from b quarks, and a monojet search. No excesses above the standard model expectations are seen, and limits are set …
Searches for supersymmetry (SUSY) are performed using a sample of hadronic events produced in 8 TeV pp collisions at the CERN LHC. The searches are based on the MT2 variable, which is a measure of the transverse momentum imbalance in an event. The data were collected with the CMS detector and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 19.5 inverse femtobarns. Two related searches are performed. The first is an inclusive search based on signal regions defined by the value of the MT2 variable, the hadronic energy in the event, the jet multiplicity, and the number of jets identified as originating…
These proceedings summarize the results of four analyses which searched for squarks and gluinos in hadronic final states with missing transverse momentum in 2.3 fb$^{-1}$ of data in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV collected in the year 2015 with the CMS detector at the CERN LHC. Each analysis is characterized by a different kinematic variable that is sensitive to the presence of invisible particles, e.g., $M_\text{T2}$, $α_{\text{T}}$, and razor variables. We observed no significant deviation from the standard model prediction and placed limits on the production cross sections an…
Hadronically decaying tau leptons are of prime importance in numerous physics analyses in ATLAS. The spectrum of the possible applications of hadronically decaying tau leptons reaches from Standard Model measurements, including Higgs searches, to searches for physics beyond the Standard Model. The basic principles behind the sophisticated tau reconstruction and identification techniques, which are specifically designed to identify hadronically decaying taus and reject various background processes, are delineated here along with current data-driven estimates of their respective performance.
The classic searches for supersymmetry have not given any strong indication for new physics. Therefore CMS is designing dedicated searches to target the more difficult and specific supersymmetry scenarios. This contribution present three such recent searches based on 13 TeV proton-proton collisions recorded with the CMS detector in 2016, 2017 and 2018: a search for heavy gluinos cascading via heavy next-to-lightest neutralino in final states with boosted Z bosons and missing transverse momentum; a search for compressed supersymmetry in final states with soft taus; and a search for compressed, …
Hadronic decays of Higgs bosons, not necessarily into b-quarks, have been searched for using data collected at LEP-2. Such searches are complementary to the usual Standard Model Higgs searches and lead to more model-independence. Preliminary results obtained by the four LEP collaborations are presented for the hZ production mechanism (using the q-qbarq-qbar, q-qbarnu-nubar and q-qbarl+l- channels) and combined for the first time.
Despite the great success of the Standard Model, it still does not explain Dark Matter, matter/antimatter asymmetry and it does not unite the electroweak and the strong forces. As a possible solution, the theory of Supersymmetry was proposed. In this paper, three searches for strong production Supersymmetry are presented. The data correspond to a total integrated luminosity of 137 fb$^{-1}$ at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, recorded at the Large Hadron Collider during the years 2015-2018. There has been no significant excess observed relative to the Standard Model predictions. The data gav…
We search for direct CP violation in charmless hadronic B decays observed in a sample of about 22.7 million $B\bar{B}$ pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider. We measure the following charge asymmetries: ${\cal A}_{CP} (B^{\pm}\toη^\prime K^{\pm}) = -0.11\pm 0.11\pm 0.02$, ${\cal A}_{CP} (B^{\pm}\toωπ^{\pm}) = -0.01^{+0.29}_{-0.31}\pm 0.03$, ${\cal A}_{CP} (B^{\pm}\toϕK^{\pm}) = -0.05\pm 0.20\pm 0.03$, ${\cal A}_{CP} (B^{\pm}\toϕK^{*\pm}) = -0.43^{+0.36}_{-0.30}\pm 0.06$, and ${\cal A}_{CP} (B^{0}\toϕK^{*0}) = 0.00\pm 0.27\pm 0.03$.
We present searches for the leptonic decays B+ -> l+ nu and the lepton flavor violating decays B0 -> l+ tau-, where l=e,mu, with data collected by the BaBar experiment at SLAC. This search demonstrates a novel technique in which we fully reconstruct the accompanying Bbar in Upsilon(4S)->BBbar events, and look for a monoenergetic lepton from the signal B decay. The signal yield is extracted from a fit to the signal lepton candidate momentum distribution in the signal B rest frame. Using a data sample of approximately 378 million BBbar pairs (342fb-1), we find no evidence of signal in any of the…
Recent results from H1, ZEUS, HERMES and HERA-B on searches for exotic baryons in ep collisions, eD scattering and pA scattering at HERA are reviewed. Evidence for the production of the strange pentaquark Theta^+ and of a narrow anti-charmed baryon decaying to D^{*-}p together with negative results of pentaquark searches at HERA are presented.
In recent years the search for dark matter has intensified with competitive bounds coming from collider searches, direct detection, and indirect detection. Collider searches at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) lack the necessary center-of-mass energy to probe TeV-scale dark matter. It is TeV-scale dark matter, however, that remains viable for many models of supersymmetry. In this paper, we study the reach of a 100 TeV proton-proton collider for neutralino dark matter and compare to 14 TeV LHC projections. We employ a supersymmetric simplified model approach and present reach estimates from mono…
A variety of new physics models predict heavy resonances that decay to multiple hadronic jets. These models include axigluons, colorons, diquarks, excited quarks, Randall-Sundrum gravitons, string resonances, and Z' models, among others. Other models make the prediction that high-pT jets will be suppressed, resulting in jet extinction. Using the data collected in 2012 at a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV, the CMS Collaboration has made a baseline inclusive jet cross section measurement for comparison with new-physics searches, and then performed searches for jet extinction and resonances that d…
Results from searches for new particles with enhanced couplings to third-generation quarks are presented. They are based on proton-proton collision data at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV recorded by the CMS experiment. The signatures include single and pair production of vector-like quarks and heavy resonances decaying to third-generation quarks. A wide range of final states, from multi-leptonic to entirely hadronic is covered. Jet substructure techniques are employed to identify highly boosted heavy standard model particles in their hadronic decay modes.
Searches for the rare hadronic decays $B^0 \rightarrow p\bar{p}p\bar{p}$ and $B^0_{s} \rightarrow p\bar{p}p\bar{p}$ are performed using proton-proton collision data recorded by the LHCb experiment and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9$\rm{fb}^{-1}$. Significances of $9.3\,σ$ and $4.0\,σ$, including statistical and systematic uncertainties, are obtained for the $B^0 \rightarrow p\bar{p}p\bar{p}$ and $B^0_{s} \rightarrow p\bar{p}p\bar{p}$ signals, respectively. The branching fractions are measured relative to the topologically similar normalisation decays $B^0 \rightarrow J/ψ(\right…

The presence of tau leptons in the final state is an important signature in many Higgs boson and SUSY searches. With the ATLAS detector, hadronically decaying tau leptons can be reconstructed in a wide range of transverse energies. The reconstruction algorithm for hadronically decaying tau leptons is explained and the performance of tau lepton identification is shown. Particularly important is the discrimination of hadronically decaying tau leptons against overwhelming backgrounds from QCD jets.
I report on recent studies of hadronic physics performed by the BaBar Collaboration. Emphasis is given to the measurement of the properties of newly discovered charmed hadrons and to the searches for light and heavy pentaquarks.
Highlights are presented of current searches for supersymmetry produced in proton-proton collisions at the LHC, operating at sqrt(s)=7TeV. Searches with missing transverse energy are summarized from both the ATLAS and CMS experiments. A wide range of final states is covered, including recent searches with photons, leptons, and purely hadronic final states. Future developments are anticipated with extra focus on exclusive searches in electroweak and third-generation supersymmetry production.
I discuss the results on $D^{0}$-$\bar{D}^{0}$ mixing through hadronic as well as semi-leptonic charm decays, rare flavor-changing neutral currents in the charm sector and the lepton flavor violating $τ$ decaying to charged lighter leptons. The results from both BABAR and Belle are presented in this review.
Supersymmetry searches at the LHC are both highly varied and highly constraining, but the vast majority are focused on cases where the final-stage visible decays are prompt. Scenarios featuring superparticles with detector-scale lifetimes have therefore remained a tantalizing possibility for sub-TeV SUSY, since explicit limits are relatively sparse. Nonetheless, the extremely low backgrounds of the few existing searches for collider-stable and displaced new particles facilitates recastings into powerful long-lived superparticle searches, even for models for which those searches are highly non-…
The future Large Hadron Electron Collider (LHeC) would enable collisions of an intense electron beam with either protons or heavy ions at the High Luminosity-Large Hadron Collider (HL- LHC). With a center of mass energy greater than a TeV and a high luminosity, the LHeC would be a new-generation collider for deep-inelastic scattering (DIS) and a significant facility for precise Higgs physics, complementing pp and electron-positron colliders. Anomalous hadronic decay signatures of the Higgs Boson, such as those into three or more partons, are challenging to detect at the LHC due to high backgro…
First searches for new physics phenomena using the LHC 7 TeV proton-proton collision data collected by the CMS detector in 2010 are reviewed. Results are presented of searches for new physics in events with hadronic jet pairs, and for heavy stable charged particles, including a dedicated search for long-lived particles that stop in the detector and decay in periods between beam crossings.
For this year's 8TeV run of the LHC we lay out different strategies to search for scalar top pairs. We show results for the hadronic and for the semi-leptonic channels based on hadronic top tagging. For the di-lepton channel we illustrate the impact of transverse mass variables. Each of our signal-to-background ratios ranges around unity for a stop mass around 400GeV. The combined signal significances show that dedicated stop searches are becoming sensitive over a non-negligible part of parameter space.
The presence of tau leptons in the final state is an important signature in searches for physics beyond the Standard Model. Hadronically decaying tau leptons can be reconstructed over a wide kinematic range at ATLAS. The reconstruction algorithm for hadronically decaying tau leptons and the performance of tau lepton identification is described. A review of physics processes with tau lepton final states is given, ranging from Standard Model processes in early data, such as W and Z boson production, to searches for new phenomena beyond the Standard Model.
This article summarises three searches for diboson resonances in the all-hadronic final state using data collected at a center-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{\rm{s}}=13$ TeV with the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC. The boson decay products are contained in one large-radius jet, resulting in dijet final states which are resolved using jet substructure techniques. The analyses presented use 2.3, 35.9 and 77.3 inverse femtobarns of data collected between 2015 and 2017. These include the first search for diboson resonances using data collected at a 13 TeV collision energy, the introduction of a new algo…
We present version 2 of SModelS, a program package for the fast reinterpretation of LHC searches for new physics on the basis of simplified model results. The major novelty of the SModelS v2 series is an extended topology description with a flexible number of particle attributes, such as spin, charge, decay width, etc. This enables, in particular, the treatment of a wide range of signatures with long-lived particles. Moreover, constraints from prompt and long-lived searches can be evaluated simultaneously in the same run. The current database includes results from searches for heavy stable cha…
We present several searches for charmless hadronic two-body and three-body decays of B mesons from electron-positron annihilation data collected by the BABAR detector near the Upsilon(4S) resonance. We report the preliminary branching fractions BR(B0 --> pi+pi-) = (4.1 +/- 1.0 +/- 0.7) x 10^-6, BR(B0 --> K+pi-) = (16.7 +/- 1.6 +/- 1.3) x 10^-6, BR(B0 --> rho-/+ pi+/-) = (49 +/- 13 +6 -5) x 10^-6, BR(B+ --> eta' K+) = (62 +/- 18 +/- 8) x 10^-6, and present upper limits for nine other decays.
The search for Beyond the Standard Model (BSM) physics is one of the major tasks of the LHC, CERN. In these proceedings, I review the status of searches for Supersymmetry by the ATLAS and CMS collaborations. The efforts in both the hadronic and leptonic search channels are presented. A special focus is placed on the treatment of approximately one inverse femtobarn of early LHC data, and examples of background estimation techniques in such a dataset are given. Phenomenologically, besides "typical" mSUGRA scenarios, signatures based on prompt and non-pointing photons, as well as long-lived lepto…
The results of two searches for pair production of vector-like T or B quarks in fully hadronic final states are presented, using data from the CMS experiment at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The data were collected at the LHC during 2016 and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb$^{-1}$. A cut-based analysis specifically targets the bW decay mode of the T quark and allows for the reconstruction of the T quark candidates. In a second analysis, a multiclassification algorithm, the "boosted event shape tagger," is deployed to label candidate jets as originating from top quarks, an…
Searches for new hadronic resonances typically focus on high-mass spectra, due to overwhelming QCD backgrounds and detector trigger rates. We present a study of searches for relatively low-mass hadronic resonances at the LHC in the case that the resonance is boosted by recoiling against a well-measured high-$p_{\textrm{T}}$ probe such as a muon, photon or jet. The hadronic decay of the resonance is then reconstructed either as a single large-radius jet or as a resolved pair of standard narrow-radius jets, balanced in transverse momentum to the probe. We show that the existing 2015 LHC dataset …
We have searched for signatures of polarization in hadronic jets from $Z^0 \to q \bar{q}$ decays using the ``jet handedness'' method. The polar angle asymmetry induced by the high SLC electron-beam polarization was used to separate quark jets from antiquark jets, expected to be left- and right-polarized, respectively. We find no evidence for jet handedness in our global sample or in a sample of light quark jets and we set upper limits at the 95% C.L. of 0.063 and 0.099 respectively on the magnitude of the analyzing power of the method proposed by Efremov {\it et al.}
The ATLAS experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider has performed searches for new, heavy bosons decaying to $WW$, $WZ$ and $ZZ$ final states in multiple decay channels using 20.3 fb$^{-1}$ of $pp$ collision data at $\sqrt{s} = 8$ TeV. In the current study, the results of these searches are combined to provide a more stringent test of models predicting heavy resonances with couplings to vector bosons. Direct searches for a charged diboson resonance decaying to WZ in the $\ellν\ell'\ell'$ ($\ell = μ, e$) , $\ell\ell q \bar{q}$, $\ell νq \bar{q}$ and fully hadronic final states are combined a…
The search for a Higgs boson produced via Vector Boson Fusion and subsequently decaying to two tau leptons is discussed. Significances for the di-lepton and lepton-hadron decay channels are presented, and the fully hadronic decay channel is shown to be feasible in terms of trigger, mass reconstruction and signal efficiency. We consider performance issues for tau ID, missing transverse energy, forward jet identification, and central jet and b-jet vetoes, and outline several methods to estimate background contributions.
We report results of searches for charmless hadronic B meson decays to pseudoscalar(pi^+-,K^+-,Pi^0 or Ks^0)-vector(Rho, K* or Omega) final states. Using 9.7 million BBbar pairs collected with the CLEO detector, we report first observation of B^- --> Pi^-Rho^0, B^0 --> Pi^+-Rho^-+ and B^- --> Pi^-Omega, which are expected to be dominated by hadronic b --> u transitions. The measured branching fractions are (10.4+3.3-3.4+-2.1)x10^-6, (27.6+8.4-7.4+-4.2)x10^-6 and (11.3+3.3-2.9+-1.4)x10^-6, respectively. Branching fraction upper limits are set for all the other decay modes investigated.
The results of searches for Supersymmetry in events with two same-sign isolated leptons, hadronic jets, and missing transverse energy in the final state are presented. The searches use pp collisions at 7 TeV collected in 2011 by the CMS experiment.
A search for dark matter (DM) particles produced in association with a hadronically decaying vector boson is performed using $pp$ collision data at a centre-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36.1 fb$^{-1}$, recorded by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. This analysis improves on previous searches for processes with hadronic decays of $W$ and $Z$ bosons in association with large missing transverse momentum (mono-$W/Z$ searches) due to the larger dataset and further optimization of the event selection and signal region definitions. In …
We discuss how molecule-based searches offer complementary probes to study the violation of fundamental symmetries. These experiments have the potential to probe not only the electron EDM, but also hadronic CPV phenomena. Future experimental developments will offer generic sensitivity to probe flavor neutral sources of both leptonic and hadronic CPV at scales of $\geq$ 100 TeV, and flavor changing CPV at scales of $\geq$ 1000 TeV.
The ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) has been able to collect 5.25 fb-1 of data in 2011. For many physics analyses both in context of the Standard Model (SM) and Beyond the Standard Model (BSM) theories such as Higgs boson searches, tau leptons play an important role. Thus, triggering on hadronic tau decays is an essential ingredient for the success of those measurements. This contribution will summarize the developed efforts to meet this challenge. Efficiency measurements using data taken in 2011 at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV are described and results are presented. A…
The observation of the electroweak production of a Z boson with two jets in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 8$ TeV with the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC is presented, based on a data sample with an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb$^{-1}$. The cross section measurement, combining the muon and electron channels, is in agreement with the theoretical expectations. Radiation patterns of selected Z plus two jets events, and the hadronic activity in the rapidity interval between the jets are also measured. These results are of substantial importance in the more general study of vector boson fusion pro…
An overview of searches for new physics in the ttbar sample from the CMS Collaboration is presented with data collected at the Large Hadron Collider at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV. There are several searches presented, including same-sign dilepton signatures, semileptonic signatures, and all-hadronic signatures, the latter of which uses advanced jet reconstruction techniques.
The latest results from CMS on searches for supersymmetry are presented. Searches involving all-hadronic final states with jets and missing transverse energy, and in final states including one or more isolated leptons are discussed. The results are based on 19.5/fb of LHC proton-proton collisions at sqrt = 8 TeV taken with the CMS detector.
The Minimal Supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (MSSM) predicts the existence of three neutral and two charged Higgs bosons. Searches for these MSSM Higgs bosons are presented, based on proton-proton collisions recorded in 2011 and 2012 by the ATLAS and CMS experiments at the LHC. The neutral Higgs bosons are searched through their decays into pairs of oppositely charged tau leptons. The exclusion limits at 95% confidence level are shown as a function of the $m_A$ and $\tanβ$ parameters. The search for the charged Higgs bosons is based on their production through the decays of top q…
A search for the Higgsstrahlung process e+e- -> hZ is described, where the neutral Higgs boson h is assumed to decay into hadronic final states. In order to be sensitive to a broad range of models, the search is performed independent of the flavour content of the Higgs boson decay. The analysis is based on e+e- collision data collected by the OPAL detector at energies between 192 GeV and 209 GeV. The search does not reveal any significant excess over the Standard Model background prediction. Results are combined with previous searches at energies around 91 GeV and at 189 GeV. A limit is set on…
Searches for HZ production with the Higgs boson decaying into an invisible final state were performed using the data collected by the DELPHI experiment at centre-of-mass energies between 188 GeV and 209 GeV. Both hadronic and leptonic final states of the Z boson were analysed. In addition to the search for a heavy Higgs boson, a dedicated search for a light Higgs boson down to 40 GeV/c^2 was performed. No signal was found. Assuming the Standard Model HZ production cross-section, the mass limit for invisibly decaying Higgs bosons is 112.1 GeV/c^2 at 95% confidence level. An interpretation in th…
A method is proposed for distinguishing highly boosted hadronically decaying W's (W-jets) from QCD-jets using jet substructure. Previous methods, such as the filtering/mass-drop method, can give a factor of ~2 improvement in S/sqrt(B) for jet pT > 200 GeV. In contrast, a multivariate approach including new discriminants such as R-cores, which characterize the shape of the W-jet, subjet planar flow, and grooming-sensitivities is shown to provide a much larger factor of ~5 improvement in S/sqrt(B). For longitudinally polarized W's, such as those coming from many new physics models, the discrimin…
We have searched for two-body charmless hadronic decays of $B$ mesons. Final states include $ππ$, $K π$, and $KK$ with both charged and neutral kaons and pions; $πρ$, $K ρ$, and $K^*π$; and $Kϕ$, $ K^*ϕ$, and $ϕϕ$. The data used in this analysis consist of 2.6~million $B\bar{B}$~pairs produced at the $Υ(4S)$ taken with the CLEO-II detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring (CESR). We measure the branching fraction of the sum of $B^0 \rightarrow π^+π^-$ and $B^0 \rightarrow K^+π^-$ to be $(1.8^{+0.6+0.2}_{-0.5-0.3}\pm0.2) \times 10^{-5}$. In addition, we place upper limits on individual bran…
We present results of searches for B-meson decays to charmless final states that include a K*, rho, omega, or phi meson accompanied by a second meson. Using the entire data sample of 9.7 million BBbar pairs collected with the CLEO II and CLEO II.V detectors, we observe a signal for the decay B+ -> omega pi+, and measure a branching fraction of B(B+ -> omega pi+) = (11.3^{+3.3}_{-2.9} \pm 1.5) \times 10^{-6}. We also see evidence for the decay B0 -> omega K0, and set limits for the decays B0 -> rho0 pi0 and B0 -> K*0 pi0. In addition to these new results, we also summarize previous CLEO results…
We present the latest results of the searches for new particles in hadronic final states performed in proton-antiproton collisions at a center of mass energy of 1.8 TeV. The large data samples collected with the CDF and D0 detectors at the Tevatron collider between 1992 and 1995 allow searches for low cross section phenomena in dijet and multijet events, despite the hindrance of the high background from normal QCD processes. However, no signal for new physics is found, and the data show good agreement with QCD. Limits on the mass and on the cross section of the searched states can thus be set.
We present preliminary results of several searches for rare charmless hadronic decays of the B meson using data collected by the BABAR detector at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center's PEP-II storage ring. We search for the decays h^+h^-, h^+h^-h^+, h^+h^-pi^0, X^0h^+, and X^0 K_S^0, where h = pi or K, and X^0 = eta^prime or omega. In a sample of 8.8 million B-anti-B decays we measure the branching fractions: BF(B^0 --> pi^+pi^-) = (9.3^{+2.6}_{-2.3}^{+1.2}_{-1.4}) x 10^{-6}, BF(B^0 --> K^+pi^-) = (12.5^{+3.0}_{-2.6}^{+1.3}_{-1.7}) x 10^{-6}, BF(B^0 --> rho^-pi^+) = (49 +/- 13^{+6}_{-5}) x …
Results of searches for SUSY production at CMS in events with third-generation signatures are presented. Along with missing energy, the final states may include hadronic jets with or without b-quark tag, light leptons, and tau leptons. These features serve both to distinguish standard-model components, and sensitivity to those SUSY models that lead to final states rich of heavy-flavored particles.
