We determine rational Kisin modules associated with two-dimensional, irreducible, crystalline representations of $\mathrm{Gal}(\overline{\mathbb{Q}}_p/\mathbb{Q}_p)$ of Hodge-Tate weights $0, k-1$. If the slope is larger than $\lfloor \frac{k-1}{p} \rfloor$, we further identify an integral Kisin module, which we use to calculate the semisimple reduction of the Galois representation. In that range, we find that the reduction is constant, thereby improving on a theorem of Berger, Li, and Zhu.
Cais and Liu extended the theory of Kisin modules and crystalline representations to allow more general coefficient fields and lifts of Frobenius. Based on their theory, we classify lattices in crystalline representations by Kisin modules with additional structures under a Cais-Liu's setting. Furthermore, we give a geometric interpretation of Kisin modules of height one in terms of Dieudonné crystals of $p$-divisible groups, and show a full faithfulness theorem for a restriction functor on torsion crystalline representations.
Mark Kisin proved that a certain restriction functor on crystalline p-adic representations is fully faithful. In this paper, we prove the torsion analogue of Kisin's theorem.
Let $p>2$ be a prime. Let $K$ be a tamely ramified finite extension over $\mathbb Q_p$ with ramification index $e$, and let $G_K$ be the Galois group. We study Kisin modules attached to crystalline representations of $G_K$ whose labeled Hodge-Tate weights are relatively small (a sort of "$er\le p$" condition where $r$ is the maximal Hodge-Tate weight). In particular, we show that these Kisin modules admit "adapted bases". We then apply these results in the special case $e=2$ to study reductions and liftings of certain crystalline representations. As a consequence, we establish some new cases o…
We prove that the category of (rigidified) Breuil-Kisin-Fargues modules up to isogeny is Tannakian. We then introduce and classify Breuil-Kisin-Fargues modules with complex multiplication mimicking the classical theory for rational Hodge structures. In particular, we compute an avatar of a "p-adic Serre group".
In the work we have considered Breuil-Kisin module over the ring of witt vectors $W(κ)$ over the residue field $κ$ of characteristic $p$ and a finite flat $\mathbb{Z}_p$-algebra $R$. Then considered Breuil-Kisin modules $M$ over the ring $W(κ)$ and taking the action of $R$ on $W(κ)$, we get again a Breuil-Kisin module $M$ over the ring $R \otimes_{\mathbb{Z}_p} W(κ)$. We have studied freeness and projectiveness of this module.
For a perfect field $k$ of characteristic $p>0$ and a smooth and proper formal scheme $\mathscr{X}$ over the ring of integers of a finite and totally ramified extension $K$ of $W(k)[1/p]$, we propose a cohomological construction of the Breuil-Kisin modules attached to the $p$-adic étale cohomology $H^i_{\mathrm{ét}}(\mathscr{X}_{\overline{K}},\mathbf{Z}_p)$. We then prove that our proposal works when $p>2$, $i < p-1$, and the crystalline cohomology of the special fiber of $\mathscr{X}$ is torsion-free in degrees $i$ and $i+1$.
Let p be a prime and T a lattice inside a semi-stable representation V. We prove that Kisin modules associated to T by selecting different uniformizers are isomorphic after tensoring a subring in W(R). As consequences, we show that several lattices inside the filtered (phi, N)-module of V constructed from Kisin modules are independent on the choice of uniformizers. Finally we use a similar strategy to show that the Wach module can be recovered from the (φ, \hat G)-module associated to T when V is crystalline and the base field is unramified.
We extend the theory of Kisin modules and crystalline representations to allow more general coefficient fields and lifts of Frobenius. In particular, for a finite and totally ramified extension $F/\mathbb Q_p$, and an arbitrary finite extension $K/F$, we construct a general class of infinite and totally wildly ramified extensions $K_\infty/K$ so that the functor $V\mapsto V|_{G_{K_\infty}}$ is fully-faithfull on the category of $F$-crystalline representations $V$. We also establish a new classification of $F$-Barsotti-Tate groups via Kisin modules of height 1 which allows more general lifts of…
Fontaine's $D_{\mathrm{cris}}$ functor allow us to associate an isocrystal to any crystalline representation. For a reductive group $G$, we study the reduction of lattices inside a germ of crystalline representations with $G$-structure $V$ to lattices (which are crystals) with $G$-structure inside $D_{\mathrm{cris}}(V)$. Using Kisin modules theory, we give a description of this reduction in terms of $G$, in the case when the representation $V$ is ($G$-)ordinary. In order to do that, first we need to generalize Fargues' construction of the Harder-Narasimhan filtration for $p$-divisible groups t…
We adapt a technique of Kisin to construct and study crystalline deformation rings of $G_K$ for a finite extension $K/\mathbb{Q}_p$. This is done by considering a moduli space of Breuil--Kisin modules, satisfying an additional Galois condition, over the universal deformation ring. For $K$ unramified over $\mathbb{Q}_p$ and Hodge--Tate weights in $[0,p]$, we study the geometry of this space. As a consequence we prove that, under a mild cyclotomic-freeness assumption, all crystalline representations of an unramified extension of $\mathbb{Q}_p$, with Hodge--Tate weights in $[0,p]$, are potentiall…
We construct a moduli space $Y^{μ, τ}$ of Kisin modules with tame descent datum $τ$ and with fixed $p$-adic Hodge type $\leq μ$, for some finite extension $K/\mathbb{Q}_p$. We show that this space is smoothly equivalent to the local model for $\mathrm{Res}_{K/\mathbb{Q}_p} \mathrm{GL}_n$, cocharacter $\{ μ\}$, and parahoric level structure. We use this to construct the analogue of Kottwitz-Rapoport strata on the special fiber $Y^{μ, τ}$ indexed by the $μ$-admissible set. We also relate $Y^{μ, τ}$ to potentially crystalline Galois deformation rings.
The aim of this article is to prove Zariski density of crystalline representations in the rigid analytic space associated to the universal deformation ring of a d-dimensional mod p representation of Gal(\bar{K}/K) for any d and for any p-adic field K. This is a generalization of the results of Colmez, Kisin (d=2, K=Q_p), of the author (d=2, any K), of Chenevier (any d, K=Q_p). A key ingredient for the proof is to construct a p-adic family of trianguline representations. In this article, we construct (an approximation of) this family by generalizing Kisin's theory of finite slope subspace X_{fs…
Let p be a rational prime and K/Q_p be an extension of complete discrete valuation fields. Let G be a truncated Barsotti-Tate group of level n, height h and dimension d over O_K with 0<d<h. In this paper, we prove the existence of higher canonical subgroups with expected properties for G if the Hodge height of G is less than 1/(p^{n-2}(p+1)), including the case of p=2.
For $K$ an extension of $\mathbb{Q}_{p}$ with ring of integers $R$ we show how Breuil-Kisin modules can be used to determine Hopf orders in $K$-Hopf algebras of $p$-power dimension. We find all cyclic Breuil-Kisin modules, and use them to compute all of the Hopf orders in the group ring $KΓ$ where $Γ$ is cyclic of order $p$ or $p^{2}.$ We also give a Laurent series interpretation of the Breuil-Kisin modules that give these Hopf orders.
Let p>2 be a rational prime and K/Q_p be an extension of complete discrete valuation fields. Let G be a truncated Barsotti-Tate group of level n, height h and dimension d over O_K with 0<d<h. In this paper, we show that an upper ramification subgroup G^j+ is free of rank d over Z/p^nZ if the Hasse invariant of G is less than 1/(2p^(n-1)). We also prove the usual properties as the canonical subgroup.
In this article, we apply the methods of our work on Fontaine's theory in equal characteristics to the $φ/\mathfrak S$-modules of Breuil and Kisin. Thanks to a previous article of Kisin, this yields a new and rather elementary proof of the theorem "weakly admissible implies admissible" of Colmez-Fontaine.
Let $p$ be a prime, $K$ a finite extension of $\mathbb Q_p$, and let $G_K$ be the absolute Galois group of $K$. The category of étale $(φ, τ)$-modules is equivalent to the category of $p$-adic Galois representations of $G_K$. In this paper, we show that all étale $(φ, τ)$-modules are overconvergent; this answers a question of Caruso. Our result is an analogy of the classical overconvergence result of Cherbonnier and Colmez in the setting of étale $(φ, Γ)$-modules. However, our method is completely different from theirs. Indeed, we first show that all $p$-power-torsion representations admit loo…
We develop a Harder-Narasimhan theory for Kisin modules generalizing a similar theory for finite flat group schemes due to Fargues. We prove the tensor product theorem, i.e., that the tensor product of semi-stable objects is again semi-stable. We then apply the tensor product theorem to the study of Kisin varieties for arbitrary connected reductive groups.
We study G-valued semi-stable Galois deformation rings where G is a reductive group. We develop a theory of Kisin modules with G-structure and use this to identify the connected components of crystalline deformation rings of minuscule p-adic Hodge type with the connected components of moduli of "finite flat models with G-structure." The main ingredients are a construction in integral p-adic Hodge theory using Liu's theory of $(φ, \widehat{G})$-modules and the local models constructed by Pappas and Zhu.
Let $K$ be an unramified extension of $\mathbb{Q}_p$ and $ρ\colon G_K \rightarrow \operatorname{GL}_n(\overline{\mathbb{Z}}_p)$ a crystalline representation. If the Hodge--Tate weights of $ρ$ differ by at most $p$ then we show that these weights are contained in a natural collection of weights depending only on the restriction to inertia of $\overlineρ = ρ\otimes_{\overline{\mathbb{Z}}_p} \overline{\mathbb{F}}_p$. Our methods involve the study of a full subcategory of $p$-torsion Breuil--Kisin modules which we view as extending Fontaine--Laffaille theory to filtrations of length $p$.
Let $K$ be a mixed characteristic complete discrete valuation field with residue field admitting a finite $p$-basis, and let $G_K$ be the Galois group. We first classify semi-stable representations of $G_K$ by weakly admissible filtered $(φ,N)$-modules with connections. We then construct a fully faithful functor from the category of \emph{integral} semi-stable representations of $G_K$ to the category of Breuil-Kisin $G_K$-modules. Using the integral theory, we classify $p$-divisible groups over the ring of integers of $K$ by minuscule Breuil-Kisin modules with connections.
The classification of the local Galois representations using $(φ,Γ)$-modules by Fontaine has been generalized by Kisin and Ren over the Lubin-Tate extensions of local fields using the theory of $(φ_q,Γ_{LT})$-modules. In this paper, we extend the work of (Fontaine) Herr by introducing a complex which allows us to compute cohomology over the Lubin-Tate extensions and compare it with the Galois cohomology groups. We further extend that complex to include certain non-abelian extensions. We then deduce some relations of this cohomology with those arising from $(ψ_q,Γ_{LT})$-modules. We also comput…
The aim of this article is to study deformation theory of trianguline B-pairs for any p-adic field. For benign B-pairs, a special good class of trianguline B-pairs, we prove a main theorem concerning tangent spaces of these deformation spaces. These are generalizations of Bellaiche-Chenevier's and Chenevier's works in the Q_p case, where they used (ϕ,Γ)-modules over the Robba ring instead of using B-pairs. As an application of this theory, in the final chapter, we prove a theorem concerning Zariski density of two dimensional crystalline representations for any p-adic field, which is a generali…
The Galois representation associated to a p-divisible group over a complete noetherian normal local ring with perfect residue field is described in terms of its Dieudonné display. As a corollary we deduce in arbitrary characteristic Kisin's description of the Galois representation associated to a commutative finite flat p-group scheme over a p-adic discrete valuation ring in terms of its Breuil-Kisin module. This was obtained earlier by W. Kim by a different method.
We define and study certain moduli stacks of modules equipped with a Frobenius semi-linear endomorphism. These stacks can be thought of as parametrizing the coefficients of a variable Galois representation and are global variants of the spaces of Kisin-Breuil $Φ$-modules used by Kisin in his study of deformation spaces of local Galois representations. We also define a version of a rigid analytic period map for these spaces, we show how their local structure can be described in terms of "local models", and we show how Bruhat-Tits buildings can be used to study their special fibers.
Let $k$ be a perfect field of characteristic $p>2$ and $K$ an extension of $F=\mathrm{Frac} W(k)$ contained in some $F(μ_{p^r})$. Using crystalline Dieudonné theory, we provide a classification of $p$-divisible groups over $\mathscr{O}_K$ in terms of finite height $(φ,Γ)$-modules over $\mathfrak{S}:=W(k)[[u]]$. Although such a classification is a consequence of (a special case of) the theory of Kisin--Ren, our construction gives an independent proof and allows us to recover the Dieudonné crystal of a $p$-divisible group from the Wach module associated to its Tate module by Berger--Breuil or by…
We prove the local epsilon-isomorphism conjecture of Fukaya and Kato [FK06] for certain crystalline families of G_Qp-representations. This conjecture can be regarded as a local analogue of the Iwasawa main conjecture for families. Our work extends earlier work of Kato for rank-1 modules (cf. [Ven13]), of Benois and Berger for crystalline G_Qp-representations with respect to the cyclotomic extension (cf. [BB08]), as well as of Loeffler, Venjakob, and Zerbes (cf. [LVZ13]) for crystalline G_Qp- representations with respect to abelian p-adic Lie extensions of Qp. Nakamura [Nak13, Nak14] has also f…
Let K be a finite unramified extension of Q_p. We parametrize the (phi, Gamma)-modules corresponding to reducible two-dimensional mod p representations of G_K and characterize those which have reducible crystalline lifts with certain Hodge-Tate weights.
Let p be an odd prime number and K be a p-adic field. In this paper, we develop an analogue of Fontaine's theory of (phi,Gamma)-modules replacing the p-cyclotomic extension by the extension K_infty obtained by adding to K a compatible system of p^n-th roots of a fixed uniformizer pi of K. As a result, we obtain a new classification of p-adic representations of G_K = Gal(Kbar/K) by some (phi, τ)-modules. We then make a link between the theory of (phi,tau)-modules discussed above and the so-called theory of (phi,N_nabla)$-modules developped by Kisin. As a corollary, we answer a question of Tong …
We show that unit $\mathcal{O}_{F,X}^Λ$-modules of Emerton and Kisin provide an analogue of locally constant sheaves in the context of Böckle-Pink $Λ$-crystals. For example they form a tannakian category if the coefficient algebra $Λ$ is a field. Our results hold for a big class of coefficien algebras which includes Drinfeld rings, and for arbitary locally noetherian base schemes.
We construct stacks which algebraize Mazur's formal deformation rings of local Galois representations. More precisely, we construct Noetherian formal algebraic stacks over Spf Zp which parameterize étale (phi,Gamma)-modules; the formal completions of these stacks at points in their special fibres recover the universal deformation rings of local Galois representations. We use these stacks to show that all mod p representations of the absolute Galois group of a p-adic local field lift to characteristic zero, and indeed admit crystalline lifts. We also discuss the relationship between the geometr…
Let $k$ be a perfect field of characteristic $p > 2$, and let $K$ be a finite totally ramified extension over $W(k)[\frac{1}{p}]$. Let $R_0$ be an unramified relative base ring over $W(k)\langle X_1^{\pm 1}, \ldots, X_d^{\pm 1}\rangle$, and let $R = R_0\otimes_{W(k)}\mathcal{O}_K$. We define relative $B$-pairs and study their relations to weakly admissible $R_0[\frac{1}{p}]$-modules and $\mathbf{Q}_p$-representations. As an application, when $R = \mathcal{O}_K[\![Y]\!]$ with $k = \overline{k}$, we show that every rank $2$ horizontal crystalline representation with Hodge-Tate weights in $[0, 1]…
We construct moduli stacks of two-dimensional mod p representations of the absolute Galois group of a p-adic local field, as well as their resolutions by moduli stacks of two-dimensional Breuil-Kisin modules with tame descent data. We study the local geometry of these moduli stacks by comparing them with local models of Shimura varieties at hyperspecial and Iwahori level.
We prove the existence of local constancy phenomena for reductions in a general prime power setting of two-dimensional irreducible crystalline representations. Up to twist, these representations depend on two parameters: a trace $a_p$ and a weight $k$. We find an (explicit) local constancy result with respect to $a_p$ using Fontaine's theory of $(φ, Γ)$-modules and its crystalline refinement due to Berger via Wach modules and their continuity properties. The local constancy result with respect to $k$ (for $a_p\not=0$) will follow from a local study of Colmez's rigid analytic space parametrizin…
Irreducible crystalline representations of dimension 2 of Gal(Qpbar/Qp) depend up to twist on two parameters, the weight k and the trace of frobenius a_p. We show that the reduction modulo p of such a representation is a locally constant function of a_p (with an explicit radius) and a locally constant function of the weight k if a_p <> 0. We then give an algorithm for computing the reductions modulo p of these representations. The main ingredient is Fontaine's theory of (phi,Gamma)-modules as well as the theory of Wach modules.
We review the analog of Fontaine's theory of crystalline $p$-adic Galois representations and their classification by weakly admissible filtered isocrystals in the arithmetic of function fields over a finite field. There crystalline Galois representations are replaced by the Tate modules of so-called local shtukas. We prove that the Tate module functor is fully faithful. In addition to this étale realization of a local shtuka we discuss also the de Rham and the crystalline cohomology realizations and construct comparison isomorphisms between these realizations. We explain how local shtukas and …
Using $p$-adic local Langlands correspondence for $\operatorname{GL}_2(\mathbb{Q}_p)$, we prove that the support of patched modules constructed by Caraiani, Emerton, Gee, Geraghty, Paskunas, and Shin meet every irreducible component of the potentially semistable deformation ring. This gives a new proof of the Breuil-Mézard conjecture for 2-dimensional representations of the absolute Galois group of $\mathbb{Q}_p$ when $p > 2$, which is new in the case $p = 3$ and $\bar{r}$ a twist of an extension of the trivial character by the mod p cyclotomic character. As a consequence, a local restriction …
We consider stacks of filtered phi-modules over rigid analytic spaces and adic spaces. We show that these modules parametrize p-adic Galois representations of the absolute Galois group of a p-adic field with varying coefficients over an open substack containing all classical points. Further we study a period morphism (defined by Pappas and Rapoport) from a stack parametrizing integral data and determine the image of this morphism.
Let X_d be the p-adic analytic space classifying the d-dimensional (semisimple) p-adic Galois representations of the absolute Galois group of Q_p. We show that the crystalline representations are Zarski-dense in many irreducible components of X_d, including the components made of residually irreducible representations. This extends to any dimension d previous results of Colmez and Kisin for d = 2. For this we construct an analogue of the infinite fern of Gouvêa-Mazur in this context, based on a study of analytic families of trianguline (phi,Gamma)-modules over the Robba ring. We show in partic…
We study potentially crystalline deformation rings for a residual, ordinary Galois representation $\overlineρ: G_{\mathbb{Q}_p}\rightarrow \mathrm{GL}_3(\mathbb{F}_p)$. We consider deformations with Hodge-Tate weights $(0,1,2)$ and inertial type chosen to contain exactly one Fontaine-Laffaille modular weight for $\overlineρ$. We show that, in this setting, the potentially crystalline deformation space is formally smooth over $\mathbb{Z}_p$ and any potentially crystalline lift is ordinary. The proof requires an understanding of the condition imposed by the monodromy operator on Breuil modules w…
