We present the dynamical analysis for interacting quintessence, considering linear cosmological perturbations. Matter perturbations improve the background analysis and viable critical points describing the transition of the three cosmological eras are found. The stability of those fixed points are similar to previous studies in the literature, for both coupled and uncoupled cases, leading to a late-time attractor.
For evolution of flat universe, we classify late time and future attractors with scaling behavior of scalar field quintessence in the case of potential, which, at definite values of its parameters and initial data, corresponds to exact scaling in the presence of cosmological constant.
A quintessence scalar field in self-interacting Brans-Dicke theory is shown to give rise to a non-decelerated expansion of the present universe for open, flat and closed models. Along with providing a non-decelerating solution, it can potentially solve the flatness problem too.
In this paper we consider two models of quintessence scalar fields with different potentials. Interaction with generalized cosmic Chaplygin gas is also investigated. Cosmological parameters are studied and graphical behavior is analyzed. We find that our model is agree with observational data specially $Λ$CDM model.
In this paper, we investigate coupled quintessence with scaling potential assuming specific forms of the coupling as $A$ namely, $α\dot{ρ_m}$, $β\dot{ρ_ϕ}$ and $σ(\dot{ρ_m}+\dot{ρ_ϕ})$, and present phase space analysis for three different interacting models. We focus on the attractor solutions that can give rise to late time acceleration with $Ω_{DE}/Ω_{DM}$ of order unity in order to alleviate the coincidence problem.
A new approach to tackle Einstein equations for an isotropic and homogeneous Friedmann--Robertson--Walker Universe in the presence of a quintessence scalar field is devised. It provides a way to get a simple exact solution to these equations. This solution determines the quintessence potential uniquely and it differs from solutions which have been used to study inflation previously. It relays on a unification of geometry and dark matter implemented through the definition of a functional relation between the scale factor of the Universe and the quintessence field. For a positive curvature Unive…
In this paper, we consider two-component dark energy models in Lyra manifold. The first component is assumed as a quintessence field while the second model may be a viscous polytropic gas, a viscous Van der Waals gas or a viscous modified Chaplygin gas. We also consider the possibility of interaction between components. By using numerical analysis, we study some cosmological parameters of the models and compare them with observational data.
We show how the scalar field, a candidate of quintessence, in a proposed model of the scalar-tensor theories of gravity provides a way to understand a small but nonzero cosmological constant as indicated by recent observations. A particular emphasis is placed on the effort to inherit the success of the scenario of a decaying cosmological constant. Discussions of a possible link to non-Newtonian gravity, the coincidence problem, the issue of time-variability of coupling constants as well as the chaos-like nature of the solution are also included in a new perspective.
We suggest a correspondence between interacting agegraphic dark energy models and the quintessence scalar field in a non-flat universe. We demonstrate that the agegraphic evolution of the universe can be described completely by a single quintessence scalar field. Then, we reconstruct the potential of the interacting agegraphic quintessence dark energy as well as the dynamics of the scalar field according to the evolution of the agegraphic dark energy.
In the context of the induced matter theory of gravity, we investigate the possibility of deriving a 4D quintessential scenario where an interaction between dark energy and dark matter is allowed, and the dark energy component is modeled by a minimally coupled scalar field. Regarding the Ponce de Leon metric, we found that it is possible to obtain such scenario on which the energy densities of dark matter and dark energy, are both depending of the fifth extra coordinate. We obtain that the 4D induced scalar potential for the quintessence scalar field, has the same algebraic form to the one fou…
In this paper,we discuss optical properties of the nonlinear magnetic charged black hole surrounded by quintessence with a non-zero cosmological constant $Λ$. Setting the state parameter $ω=-3/2$ , we studied the horizon, the photon region and the shadow of this black hole. It turned out that for a fixed quintessential parameter $γ$, in a certain range, with the increase of the rotation parameter $a$ and magnetic charge $Q$, the inner horizon radius increases while the outer horizon radius decreases. And the cosmological horizon $r_Λ$ decrease when $γ$ or $Λ$ incease and increase slightly with…
In this work we revisit the growth of small primordial black holes (PBHs) immersed in a quintessential field and/or radiation to the supermassive black hole (SMBHs) scale. We show the difficulties of scenarios in which such huge growth is possible. For that purpose we evaluated analytical solutions of the differential equations (describing mass evolution) and point out the strong fine tuning for that conclusions. The timescale for growth in a model with a constant quintessence flux is calculated and we show that it is much bigger than the Hubble time. The fractional gain of the mass is further …
Recent observations of the Universe have led to a conclusion suppressing an up-to-now supposed deceleration of the Universe caused by attractive gravitational forces. Contrary, there is a renaissance of the cosmological member lambda and introduction of enigmatic repulsive dark energy in attempts to rationalize a would-be acceleration of the Universe expansion. It is documented that the model of Expansive Nondecelerative Universe is capable to offer acceptable answers to the questions on the Universe expansion, state equations of the Universe, the parameter omega, the cosmological member lambd…
We study the interacting quintessence model with two different types of interaction by introducing a general parameterization of the quintessence potentials. The form of the quintessence potentials is arbitrary as the recent cosmological observations failed to constrain any particular form of the potentials. We explore the interacting quintessence models and investigate if an introduction of interaction between the dark sectors can constrain any particular form of the potential. Our findings reconfirm the arbitrariness of the quintessence potentials even for the interacting dark energy models.…
We consider a FRW cosmological model with an exotic fluid known as Chaplygin gas. We show that the resulting evolution of the universe is not in disagreement with the current observation of cosmic acceleration. The model predict an increasing value for the effective cosmological constant.
In this paper, we consider an effective quintessence scalar field with a power-law potential interacting with a $P_{b}=ξqρ_{b}$ barotropic fluid as a first model, where $q$ is a deceleration parameter. For the second model we assume viscous polytropic gas interacting with the scalar field. We investigate problem numerically and analyze behavior of different cosmological parameter concerning to components and behavior of Universe. We also compare our results with observational data to fix parameters of the models. We find some instabilities in the first model which may disappear in the second m…
By analysing the cosmological dynamical system with a dark-sector interaction which changes sign during the cosmological evolution, we find a scaling attractor to help to alleviate the cosmic-coincidence problem. This result shows that this interaction can bring new features to the cosmology.
We present general exact solutions for two classes of exponential potentials in scalar field models for quintessence. The coupling is minimal and we consider only dust and scalar field. To some extent, it is possible to reproduce experimental results from supernovae.
It has been shown that Brans-Dicke (BD) theory in anisotropic cosmological model can alone solve the quintessence problem and we have accelerated expanding universe without any quintessence matter. Also the flatness problem has been discussed in this context.
The Noether Symmetry Approach is applied to interacting quintessence cosmology with the aim to search for exact solutions and select scalar-field self-interaction potentials. It turns out that the solutions found are compatible with the accelerated expansion of the Universe and with observational dataset, as the SNeIa Pantheon data.
In this paper we propose a quintessence model with the potential $V(Φ)=V_{o}[ \sinh {(α\sqrt{κ_{o}}ΔΦ})] ^β$, which asymptotic behavior corresponds to an inverse power-law potential at early times and to an exponential one at late times. We demonstrate that this is a tracker solution and that it could have driven the Universe into its current inflationary stage. The exact solutions and the description for a complete evolution of the Universe are also given. We compare such model with the current cosmological observations.
A cosmological model with perfect fluid and self-interacting quintessence field is considered in the framework of the spatially flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) geometry. By assuming that all physical quantities depend on the volume scale factor of the Universe, the general solution of the gravitational field equations can be expressed in an exact parametric form. The quintessence field is a free parameter. With an appropriate choice of the scalar field a class of exact solutions is obtained, with an exponential type scalar field potential fixed via the gravitational field equations. The …
Phase-plane stability analysis of a dynamical system describing the Universe as a two-fraction fluid containing baryonic dust and real virial gas quintessence is presented. Existence of a stable periodic solution experiencing inflationary periods is shown. A van der Waals quintessence model is revisited and cyclic Universe solution again found.
We derive conditions for stable tracker solutions for both quintessence and k-essence in a general cosmological background, H^2 \propto f(ρ). We find that tracker solutions are possible only when η= d ln f /d ln ρis constant, aside from a few special cases, which are enumerated. Expressions for the quintessence or k-essence equation of state are derived as a function of ηand the equation of state of the dominant background component.
In standard cosmologies, dark energy interacts only gravitationally with dark matter. An extension to this picture is interacting quintessence (IQ) model, where scalar field coupled directly to cold dark matter. The percentage deviation is studied in IQ model wrt $Λ$CDM for varied values of interacting parameter W. We investigated the effect of interaction on matter, Kaiser and galaxy power spectrums. Deviation in power spectrum increases with interaction on both large and small scales. On small scale, variation is comparatively smaller than on large scale. On large scale, it is due to dark en…
We demonstrate that a suitable coupling between a quintessence scalar field and a pressureless cold dark matter (CDM) fluid leads to a constant ratio of the energy densities of both components which is compatible with an accelerated expansion of the Universe.
A model consisting of quintessence scalar field interacting with cold dark matter is considered. Conditions required to reach $w_d=-1$ are discussed. It is shown that depending on the potential considered for the quintessence, reaching the phantom divide line puts some constraints on the interaction between dark energy and dark matter. This also may determine the ratio of dark matter to dark energy density at $w_d=-1$.
In this paper, dark energy is modelled via a spherically symmetric quintessence scalar field $φ$, the dynamics of which are found to be analogous to a pendulum. This is due to a driving axion potential $V(\left|φ\right|)$, whose origins reside within the study of quantum chromodynamics (QCD). The effect of a cosmological constant $Λ$, introduced to represent the vacuum energy of space, is also investigated. Preliminary results suggest that $Λ$ is analogous to a spring-constant, and thus determining the elasticity of space. Additionally, a cosmological scale-factor $a(t,r)$, notably with an add…
We show the kinematic equivalence between cosmological models driven by Dirac-Born-Infeld fields $ϕ$ with constant proper velocity of the brane and exponential potential $V=V_0e^{-Bϕ}$ and interactive cosmological systems with Modified Holographic Ricci type fluids as dark energy in flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker cosmologies.
We use the spherical collapse method to investigate the non-linear density perturbations of pressureless matter in the cosmological models with the extended quintessence as dark energy in the metric and Palatini formalisms. We find that for both formalisms, when the coupling constant is negative, the deviation from the $Λ$CDM model is the least according to the evolutionary curves of the linear density contrast $δ_{c}$ and virial overdensity $Δ_{v}$, and it is less than one percent. And this indicates that, in the extended quintessence cosmological models in which the coupling constant is nega…
We investigate the impact of general conditions of theoretical stability and cosmological viability on dynamical dark energy models. As a powerful example, we study whether minimally coupled, single field Quintessence models that are safe from ghost instabilities, can source the CPL expansion history recently shown to be mildly favored by a combination of CMB (Planck) and Weak Lensing (KiDS) data. We find that in their most conservative form, the theoretical conditions impact the analysis in such a way that smooth single field Quintessence becomes significantly disfavored with respect to the s…
We present a study of the fully relativistic spherical collapse in presence of quintessence using on Numerical Relativity, following the method proposed by the authors in a previous article [arXiv:1409.3476]. We ascertain the validity of the method by studying the evolution of a spherically symmetric quintessence inhomogeneity on a de Sitter background and we find that it has an impact on the local expansion around the centre of coordinates. We then proceed to compare the results of our method to those of the more largely adopted top-hat model. We find that quintessence inhomogeneities do buil…
In this work we consider a cosmological model in which dark energy is portrayed by a canonical scalar field which is allowed to couple to the other species by means of a disformal transformation of the metric. We revisit the current literature by assuming that the disformal function in the metric transformation can depend both on the scalar field itself and on its derivatives, encapsulating a wide variety of scalar-tensor theories. This generalisation also leads to new and richer phenomenology, explaining some of the features found in previously studied models. We present the background equati…
In the present work, motivated by the work of Cai and Su [Phys. Rev. D {\bf 81}, 103514 (2010)], we propose a new type of interaction in dark sector, which can change its sign when our universe changes from deceleration to acceleration. We consider the cosmological evolution of quintessence and phantom with this type of interaction, and find that there are some scaling attractors which can help to alleviate the cosmological coincidence problem. Our results also show that this new type of interaction can bring new features to cosmology.
In this paper, we use a Tsallis holographic dark energy model in two forms, interacting and non-interacting cases, to acquire some parameters as the equation of state for the energy density of the Tsallis model in the FRW universe concerning the complex form of quintessence model. We will study the cosmology of complex quintessence by revamping the potential and investigating the scalar field dynamics. Then we analyze ($ω-ω'$) and stability in two cases, i.e., non-interacting and interacting. We will explore whether these cases describe a real universe by calculating fractional energy density …
We derive two field theory models of interacting dark energy, one in which dark energy is associated with the quintessence and another in which it is associated with the tachyon. In both, instead of choosing arbitrarily the potential of scalar fields, these are specified implicitly by imposing that the dark energy fields must behave as the new agegraphic dark energy. The resulting models are compared with the Pantheon supernovae sample, CMB distance information from Planck 2015 data, baryonic acoustic oscillations (BAO) and Hubble parameter data. For comparison, the noninteracting case and the…
We present a new approach to build models of quintessence interacting with dark or baryonic matter. We use a variational approach for relativistic fluids to realize an effective description of matter fields at the Lagrangian level. The coupling is introduced directly in the action by considering a single function mixing the dynamical degrees of freedom of the theory. The resulting gravitational field equations are derived by variations with respect to the independent variables. New interesting phenomenology can be obtained at both small scales, where new screening mechanisms for scalar fields …
We heal the cosmological constant problem by means of a \emph{cancellation mechanism} that adopts a phase transition during which quantum fluctuations are eliminated. To this purpose, we propose that a generalized scalar (dark) matter field with a non-vanishing pressure term can remove the vacuum energy contribution, if its corresponding thermodynamics is written in terms of a \emph{quasi-quintessence} representation. In such a picture, pressure differs from quintessence as it shows a zero kinetic contribution. Using this field, we investigate a metastable transition phase, in which the univer…
The cosmological dynamics of a quintessence model based on real gas with general equation of state is presented within the framework of a three-dimensional dynamical system describing the time evolution of the number density, the Hubble parameter, and the temperature. Two global first integrals are found and examples for gas with virial expansion and van der Waals gas are presented. The van der Waals system is completely integrable. In addition to the unbounded trajectories, stemming from the presence of the conserved quantities, stable periodic solutions (closed orbits) also exist under certa…
We study the accelerating expansion and the induced dark energy of the $5D$ Ricci-flat universe which is characterized by having a big bounce as opposed to a big bang. We show that the arbitrary function $μ(t)$ contained in the $5D$ solutions can be rewritten in terms of the redshift $z$ as a new arbitrary function $f(z)$, and we find that there is a correspondence between this $f(z)$ and the potential $V(ϕ)$ of the 4D quintessence models. Using this correspondence, the arbitrary function $f(z)$ and the $5D$ solution could be specified for a given form of the potential $V(ϕ)$.
We derive an interacting quintessence model on the framework of a recently introduced new class of geometrical scalar-tensor theories of gravity formulated on a Weyl-Integrable geometry, where the gravitational sector is described by both a scalar and a tensor metric field. By using a Palatini variational principle we construct a scalar-tensor action invariant under the Weyl symmetry group of the background geometry, which in the Einstein-Riemann frame leads to a gravitoelectromagnetic theory. We use the gauge freedom of the theory and the fact that the Weyl scalar field couples with matter fi…
In the framework of teleparallel equivalent of general relativity, we study a gravity theory where a scalar field beyond its minimal coupling, is also coupled with the vector torsion through a non-minimal derivative coupling. After a suitable choice of auxiliary variables that allows us to perform the phase-space analysis of the model we obtain the critical points and their stability. While there is no scaling attractor in non-interacting scenario, by considering an interaction between dark energy and dark matter, we find scaling attractors in which the fractional densities of dark energy and …
We consider a cosmological scenario endowed with an interaction between the universe's dark components $-$ dark matter and dark energy. Specifically, we assume the dark matter component to be a pressure-less fluid, while the dark energy component is a quintessence scalar field with Lagrangian function modified by the quadratic Generalized Uncertainty Principle. The latter modification introduces new higher-order terms of fourth-derivative due to quantum corrections in the scalar field's equation of motion. Then we investigate asymptotic dynamics and general behaviour of solutions of the field …
We formulate conditions for the naturalness of cosmological quintessence scenarios. The quintessence lagrangian is taken to be the sum of a simple exponential potential and a non-canonical kinetic term. This parameterization covers most variants of quintessence and makes the naturalness conditions particularly transparent. Several ``natural'' scalar models lead, for the present cosmological era, to a large fraction of homogeneous dark energy density and an acceleration of the scale factor as suggested by observation.
Recent cosmological observations reveal that we are living in a flat accelerated expanding universe. In this work we have investigated the nature of the potential compatible with the power law expansion of the universe in a self interacting Brans Dicke cosmology with a perfect fluid background and have analyzed whether this potential supports the accelerated expansion. It is found that positive power law potential is relevant in this scenario and can drive accelerated expansion for negative Brans Dicke coupling parameter $ω$. The evolution of the density perturbation is also analyzed in this s…
Using the narrow clustering of the geometrically corrected gamma-ray energies released by gamma-ray bursts, we investigate the possibility of using these sources as standard candles to probe cosmological parameters such as the matter density Omega_m and the cosmological constant energy density Omega_Lambda. By simulating different samples of gamma-ray bursts, we find that Omega_m can be determined with accuracy ~7% with data from 300 sources. We also show that, if Omega = 1 is due to a quintessence field, some of the models proposed in the literature may be discriminated from a Universe with c…
The dynamics of interacting dark energy model in loop quantum cosmology (LQC) is studied in this paper. The dark energy has a constant equation of state $w_x$ and interacts with dark matter through a form $3cH(ρ_x+ρ_m)$. We find for quintessence model ($w_x>-1$) the cosmological evolution in LQC is the same as that in classical Einstein cosmology; whereas for phantom dark energy ($w_x<-1$), although there are the same critical points in LQC and classical Einstein cosmology, loop quantum effect reduces significantly the parameter spacetime ($c, w_x$) required by stability. If parameters $c$ and…
Scalar-tensor quintessence models can be constrained by identifying suitable cosmic clocks which allow to select confidence regions for cosmological parameters. In particular, we constrain the characterizing parameters of non-minimally coupled scalar-tensor cosmological models which admit exact solutions of the Einstein field equations. Lookback time to galaxy clusters at low intermediate, and high redshifts is considered. The high redshift time-scale problem is also discussed in order to select other cosmic clocks such as quasars.
It is argued that the Brans-Dicke theory may explain the present accelerated expansion of the universe without resorting to a cosmological constant or quintessence matter
We consider a quintessence field which transitions from a matter-like to a cosmological constant behavior between recombination and the present time. We aim at easing the tension in the measurement of the present Hubble rate, and we assess the $Λ$CDM model properly enlarged to include our quintessence field against cosmological observations. The model does not address the scope we proposed. This result allows us to exclude a class of quintessential models as a solution to the tension in the Hubble constant measurements.
We show that a suitable interaction between a scalar field and a matter fluid in a spatially homogeneous and isotropic spacetime can drive the transition from a matter dominated era to an accelerated expansion phase and simultaneously solve the coincidence problem of our present Universe. For this purpose we study the evolution of the energy density ratio of these two components. We demonstrate that a stationary attractor solution is compatible with an accelerated expansion of the Universe. We extend this study to account for dissipation effects due to interactions in the dark matter fluid. Fi…
We present an Effective Field Theory based reconstruction of quintessence models of dark energy directly from cosmological data. We show that current cosmological data possess enough constraining power to test several quintessence model properties for redshifts $z\in [0,1.5]$ with no assumptions about the behavior of the scalar field potential. We use measurements of the cosmic microwave background, supernovae distances, and the clustering and lensing of galaxies to constrain the evolution of the dark energy equation of state, Swampland Conjectures, the shape of the scalar field reconstructed …
We study the robustness of the quintessence tracking scenario in the context of more general cosmological models that derive from high-energy physics. We consider the effects of inclusion of multiple scalar fields, corrections to the Hubble expansion law (such as those that arise in brane cosmological models), and potentials that decay with expansion of the Universe. We find that in a successful tracking quintessence model the average equation of state must remain nearly constant. Overall, the conditions for successful tracking become more complex in these more general settings. Tracking can b…
We consider an original variational approach for building new models of quintessence interacting with dark or baryonic matter. The coupling is introduced at the Lagrangian level using a variational formulation for relativistic fluids, where the interacting term generally depends on both the dynamical degrees of freedom of the theory and their spacetime derivatives. After deriving the field equations from the action, we consider applications in the context of cosmology. Two simple models are studied using dynamical system techniques showing the interesting phenomenology arising in this framewor…
