In this paper, we present some new nonexistence results on $(m,n)$-generalized bent functions, which improved recent results. More precisely, we derive new nonexistence results for general $n$ and $m$ odd or $m \equiv 2 \pmod{4}$, and further explicitly prove nonexistence of $(m,3)$-generalized bent functions for all integers $m$ odd or $m \equiv 2 \pmod{4}$. The main tools we utilized are certain exponents of minimal vanishing sums from applying characters to group ring equations that characterize $(m,n)$-generalized bent functions.
In this paper, we describe a different approach to the proof of the nonexistence of homogeneous rotation symmetric bent functions. As a result, we obtain some new results which support the conjecture made in this journal, i.e., there are no homogeneous rotation symmetric bent functions of degree >2. Also we characterize homogeneous degree 2 rotation symmetric bent functions by using GCD of polynomials.

In this paper we characterize (octal) bent generalized Boolean functions defined on $\BBZ_2^n$ with values in $\BBZ_8$. Moreover, we propose several constructions of such generalized bent functions for both $n$ even and $n$ odd.
In this paper we define the (edge-weighted) Cayley graph associated to a generalized Boolean function, introduce a notion of strong regularity and give several of its properties. We show some connections between this concept and generalized bent functions (gbent), that is, functions with flat Walsh-Hadamard spectrum. In particular, we find a complete characterization of quartic gbent functions in terms of the strong regularity of their associated Cayley graph.
The necessary and sufficient conditions for a class of functions $f:\mathbb{Z}_2^n \rightarrow \mathbb{Z}_q$, where $q \geq 2$ is an even positive integer, have been recently identified for $q=4$ and $q=8$. In this article we give an alternative characterization of the generalized Walsh-Hadamard transform in terms of the Walsh spectra of the component Boolean functions of $f$, which then allows us to derive sufficient conditions that $f$ is generalized bent for any even $q$. The case when $q$ is not a power of two, which has not been addressed previously, is treated separately and a suitable r…
A Type IV-II Z4-code is a self-dual code over Z4 with the property that all Euclidean weights are divisible by eight and all codewords have even Hamming weight. In this paper we use generalized bent functions for a construction of self-orthogonal codes over Z4 of length $2^m$, for $m$ odd, $m \geq 3$, and prove that for $m \geq 5$ those codes can be extended to Type IV-II Z4-codes. From that family of Type IV-II Z4-codes, we obtain a family of self-dual Type II binary codes by using Gray map. We also consider the weight distributions of the obtained codes and the structure of the supports of t…

In a recent survey, Schmidt compiled equivalences between generalized bent functions, group invariant Butson Hadamard matrices, and abelian splitting relative difference sets. We establish a broader network of equivalences by considering Butson matrices that are cocyclic rather than strictly group invariant. This result has several applications; for example, to the construction of Boolean functions whose expansions are generalized partially bent functions, including cases where no bent function can exist.

In this paper we consider the question of when a strongly regular graph with parameters $((s+1)(st+1),s(t+1),s-1,t+1)$ can exist. These parameters arise when the graph is derived from a generalized quadrangle, but there are other examples which do not arise in this manner, and we term these {\it pseudo-generalized quadrangles}. If the graph is a generalized quadrangle then $t \leq s^2$ and $s \leq t^2$, while for pseudo-generalized quadrangles we still have the former bound but not the latter. Previously, Neumaier has proved a bound for $s$ which is cubic in $t$, but we improve this to one whi…
Bent functions of the form $\mathbb{F}_2^n\rightarrow\mathbb{Z}_q$, where $q\geqslant2$ is a positive integer, are known as generalized bent (gbent) functions. Gbent functions for which it is possible to define a dual gbent function are called regular. A regular gbent function is said to be self-dual if it coincides with its dual. In this paper we explore self-dual gbent functions for even $q$. We consider several primary and secondary constructions of such functions. It is proved that the numbers of self-dual and anti-self dual gbent functions coincide. We give necessary and sufficient condit…
We study generalized regular bent functions using a representation by bent rectangles, that is, special matrices with restrictions on rows and columns. We describe affine transformations of bent rectangles, propose new biaffine and bilinear constructions, study partitions of a vector space into affine planes of the same dimension and use such partitions to build bent rectangles. We illustrate the concept of bent rectangles by examples for the Boolean case.
For an undirected simple graph $G$, we write $G \rightarrow (H_1, H_2)^v$ if and only if for every red-blue coloring of its vertices there exists a red $H_1$ or a blue $H_2$. The generalized vertex Folkman number $F_v(H_1, H_2; H)$ is defined as the smallest integer $n$ for which there exists an $H$-free graph $G$ of order $n$ such that $G \rightarrow (H_1, H_2)^v$. The generalized edge Folkman numbers $F_e(H_1, H_2; H)$ are defined similarly, when colorings of the edges are considered. We show that $F_e(K_{k+1},K_{k+1};K_{k+2}-e)$ and $F_v(K_k,K_k;K_{k+1}-e)$ are well defined for $k \geq 3$. …
Our main result is a generalized Dillon-type theorem, giving graph-theoretic conditions which guarantee that a $p$-ary function in an even number of variables is bent, for $p$ a prime number greater than 2. The key condition is that the component Cayley graphs associated to the values of the function are strongly regular, and either all of Latin square type, or all of negative Latin square type. Such a Latin or negative Latin square type bent function is regular or weakly regular, respectively. Its dual function has component Cayley graphs with the same parameters as those of the original func…
