Multi-color light curves of V1197 Her were obtained with the 2.4 meter optical telescope at Thai National Observatory and the Wilson-Devinney (W-D) program is used to model the observational light curves. The photometric solutions reveal that V1197 Her is a W-subtype shallow contact binary system with a mass ratio of $q = 2.61 $ and fill-out factor to be $f = 15.7\,\%$. The temperature difference between the primary star and secondary star is only $140K$ in spite of the low degree of contact, which means that V1197 Her is not only in geometrical contact configuration but also already under thermal contact status. The orbital inclination of V1197 Her is as high as $i = 82.7^{\circ}$, and the primary star is completely eclipsed at the primary minimum. The totally eclipsing characteristic implies that the determined physical parameters are highly reliable. The masses, radii and luminosities of the primary star (star 1) and secondary star (star 2) are estimated to be $M_{1} = 0.30(1)M_\odot$, $M_{2} = 0.77(2)M_\odot$, $R_{1} = 0.54(1)R_\odot$, $R_{2} = 0.83(1)R_\odot$, $L_{1} = 0.18(1)L_\odot$ and $L_{2} = 0.38(1)L_\odot$. The evolutionary status of the two component stars are drawn in the H - R diagram, which shows that the less massive but hotter primary star is more evolved than the secondary star. The period of V1197 Her is decreasing continuously at a rate of $dP/dt=-2.58\times{10^{-7}}day\cdot year^{-1}$, which can be explained by mass transfer from the more massive star to the less massive one with a rate of $\frac{dM_{2}}{dt}=- 1.61\times{10^{-7}}M_\odot/year$. The light curves of V1197 Her is reported to have the O'Connell effect. Thus, a cool spot is added to the massive star to model the asymmetry on light curves.
Two sets of light curves in $V$ $R_c$ $I_c$ bands for a newly discovered binary system UCAC4 436-062932 are obtained and analyzed using the Wilson-Devinney (W-D) code. The two sets of light curves get almost consistent results. The determined mass ratio is about $q = 2.7$ and the less massive component is nearly $250K$ hotter than the more massive one. The solutions conclude that UCAC4 436-062932 is a W-subtype shallow contact (with a contact degree of $f = 20\,\%$) binary system. Since the O'Connell effect appears on one set of the light curves, theories proposed to explain the effect are dis…
The study of W UMa binary systems give a wealth of information about its nature as well as about its parent body (if any), like clusters. In this paper, we present the I passband photometric solutions of four W UMa binaries in the open cluster Berkeley 39 using the latest version of WD program. The result shows that, two binary systems are W subtype W UMa binary systems and another two systems are H subtype W UMa binary systems. No third body is found in any of the four systems. We found a correlation between the period and mass-ratio as well as temperature and mass-ratio for the respective va…

We present R-Band light curves of Type II supernovae (SNe) from the Caltech Core Collapse Project (CCCP). With the exception of interacting (Type IIn) SNe and rare events with long rise times, we find that most light curve shapes belong to one of three distinct classes: plateau, slowly declining and rapidly declining events. The last class is composed solely of Type IIb SNe which present similar light curve shapes to those of SNe Ib, suggesting, perhaps, similar progenitor channels. We do not find any intermediate light curves, implying that these subclasses are unlikely to reflect variance of…
By analyzing two sets of complete $BVR_cI_c$ light curves of V342 UMa and three sets of complete $BVR_cI_c$ light curves of V509 Cam, we determined that the two systems are both W-subtype contact binaries and that V342 UMa shows a shallow contact configuration, while V509 Cam exhibits a medium contact configuration. Since both of them are totally eclipsing binaries, the physical parameters derived only by the photometric light curves are reliable.Meanwhile, the period changes of the two targets were analyzed based on all available eclipsing times. We discovered that V342 UMa shows long-term pe…

A photometric and spectroscopic investigation is performed on five W Ursae Majoris eclipsing binaries (EWs) J015818.6+260247 (hereinafter as J0158b), J073248.4+405538 (hereinafter as J0732), J101330.8+494846 (hereinafter as J1013), J132439.8+130747 (hereinafter as J1324) and J152450.7+245943 (hereinafter as J1524). The photometric data are collected with the help of the 1.3\,m Devasthal Fast Optical Telescope (DFOT), the 1.04\,m Sampurnanand Telescope (ST) and the TESS space mission. The low-resolution spectra of the 4\,m Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopic Telescope (LAMOST) are u…
The CCD observations for the W UMa type binary systems GSC 2362-2866 and GSC 107-596 have been analyzed using the Wilson-Devinney Code to determine their photometric orbital and physical parameters. The results show that both systems may be classified as A-subtype of W-UMa eclipsing binary. The mass ratio of GSC 2362-2866 is found to be q = 0.73, with an over-contact degree of f = 0.122%. While the mass ratio of the system GSC 107-596 is found to be q = 0.70 with an over-contact degree of f = 0.166% in V_band and q = 0.69 and f = 0.111% in R band
The multi-color passband CCD light curves of ASAS J124343+1531.7 and LINEAR 2323566 were first obtained by the 0.84-m Ritchey-Chrétien telescope with follow up observations by the WIYN 0.90m Cassegrain telescope. The data from the $Transiting\quad Exoplanet\quad Survey\quad Satellite\quad (TESS)$ of ASAS J124343+1531.7 was also applied for subsequent analysis. By analyzing the data through the W-D program, their mass ratios and fill-out factors were determined as 3.758, 1.438 and 31.8$\%$, 14.9$\%$, respectively. ASAS J124343+1531.7 is a W-subtype median contact binary, while LINEAR 2323566 is…
The multi-color photometric light curves for a contact binary AV Puppis (AV Pup) in $VR_cI_c$ bandpasses are presented, and they are analyzed by using of the 2013 version of the Wilson-Devinney (W-D) code. The solutions suggest that AV Pup is a peculiar A-subtype W UMa contact binary with a high mass ratio ($q=m_2/m_1= 0.896$) and a fill-out factor ($f=10\%$). Combining with our newly determined times of minimum with those collected from literatures, the orbital period changes of this system are investigated. The $O-C$ analysis shows that the orbital period of AV Pup is increasing at a rate of…
The Tarleton Observatory's 0.8m telescope and CCD photometer were used to obtain 1298 observations of the short period eclipsing binary star MW And. The observations were obtained in Johnson's BVR filters. The light curves show that MW And is an eclipsing binary star with a period of 0.26376886 days. Further analysis showed that the period of MW And is changing at the rate of 0.17sec/year. The photometric solutions were obtained using the 2015 version of the Wilson-Devinney model. The solutions show that MW And is an eclipsing binary star of W UMa type. Our analysis suggests that the system ha…
The period distribution of contact binaries exhibits a very sharp short period cut-off at 0.22 days. In order to provide valuable information on this short period limit, we observed ten totally eclipsing contact binaries with orbital periods near this cut-off. By detailed analysis using W-D code, we determined that two of these systems are A-subtype contact binaries while the others are W-subtype contact binaries and all the targets show shallow contact configurations. Half of the targets exhibit stellar spot activity and four of them have third light. A statistical work on well studied USPCBs…
We present a spectroscopic catalog of the 1,564 brightest (J<9) M dwarf candidates in the northern sky, as selected from the SUPERBLINK proper motion catalog. Observations confirm 1,408 of the candidates to be late-K and M dwarfs with spectral subtypes K7-M6. From the low μ>40 mas/yr proper motion limit and high level of completeness of the SUPERBLINK catalog in that magnitude range, we estimate that our spectroscopic census most likely includes >90% of all existing, northern-sky M dwarfs with apparent magnitude J<9. Only 682 stars in our sample are listed in the Third Catalog of Nearby Stars …
The first four-color light curves of V868 Mon in the $B$ $V$ $R_c$ and $I_c$ bands are presented and analyzed by using the Wilson-Devinney method of the 2013 version. It is discovered that V868 Mon is an A-subtype contact binary (f=$58.9\,\%$) with a large temperature difference of 916$K$ between the two components. Using the eight new times of light minimum determined by the authors together with those collected from literatures, the authors found that the general trend of the observed-calculate ($O$-$C$) curve shows a upward parabolic variation that corresponds to a long-term increase in the…
Extremely Low Mass Ratio Contact Binaries. II. The First Photometric and Spectroscopic Investigations of Six Systems with Orbital Periods Longer than 0.5 days
We present a CCD photometric study of the star with ASAS ID 134738 + 0410.1 using V band observations obtained from the $IUCAA$ Girawali Observatory (IGO) 2-metre telescope, India. The star was selected from the $δ$ Scuti database of All Sky Automated Survey (ASAS) (Pojmanski 2002). Our analysis reveals that the star is not a $δ$ Scuti variable but is in fact a W UMa type contact binary with an orbital period of 0.2853067 day. Two new times of primary and secondary minima were determined from the observed data. A preliminary solution obtained using the Wilson-Devinney light curve modelling tec…
The first photometric analysis of V811 Cep was carried out. The first complete light curves of V, R and I bands are given. The analysis was carried out by Wilson-Devinney (W-D) program, and the results show that V811 Cep is a median-contact binary ($f=33.9(\pm4.9)\%$) with a mass ratio of 0.285. It is a W-subtype contact binary, that is, the component with less mass is hotter than the component with more mass, and the light curves are asymmetric (O'Connell effect), which can be explained by the existence of a hot spot on the component with less mass. The orbital inclination is $i=88.3^{\circ}$…
We present CCD photometric observations of the W UMa type contact binary EK Comae Berenices using the 2 metre telescope of $IUCAA$ Girawali Observatory, India. The star was classified as a W UMa type binary of subtype-W by \citet{sam1996}. The new V band photometric observations of the star reveal that shape of the light curve has changed significantly from the one observed by \citet{sam1996}. A detailed analysis of the light curve obtained from the high-precision CCD photometric observations of the star indicates that EK Comae Berenices is not a W-type but an A-type totally eclipsing W UMa co…
We carry out a re-analysis of the photometric data in Cousin RI bands which was taken under the Nainital Microlensing Survey during 1998 to 2002 with the aim to detect gravitational microlensing events in the direction of M31. Here, we do photometric analysis of a faint W UMa binary CSS_J004259.3+410629 identified in the target field. The orbital period of this star is found to be 0.266402+/-0.000018 day. The photometric mass ratio, q, is found to be 0.28+/-0.01. The photometric light curves are investigated using the Wilson-Devinney code and absolute parameters are determined using empirical …
In this paper, CCD photometric light curves for the short-period eclipsing binary 1SWASP J140533.33+114639.1 (hereafter J1405) in the $BVR$ bands are presented and analyzed using the 2013 version of the Wilson-Devinney (W-D) code. It is discovered that the J1405 is a W-subtype shallow contact binary with a contact degree of $f$ = 7.9$\pm$ 0.5\% and a mass ratio of $q$ = 1.55 $\pm$ 0.02. In order to explain the asymmetric light curves of the system, a cool star-spot on the more massive component was employed. This shallow contact eclipsing binary may be formed from a short-period detached syste…
Aims. We analyze new multicolor light curves and recently published radial velocity curves for close binaries QX And, RW Com, MR Del, and BD +07{\circ} 3142 to determine the physical parameters of the components. Methods. The light curves are analyzed using a binary star model based on Roche geometry to fit the photometric observations. Spectroscopic parameters, such as the mass ratios and spectral types, were taken from recent spectroscopic studies of the systems in question. Results. Our findings provide consistent and reliable sets of stellar parameters for the four studied binary systems. …
The $B$ $V$ $R_c$ $I_c$ bands light curves of the newly discovered binary system \astrobj{GSC 03122-02426} are obtained and analyzed using the Wilson-Devinney (W-D) code. The solutions suggest that the mass ratio of the binary system is $q = 2.70$ and the less massive component is $422K$ hotter than the more massive one. We conclude that \astrobj{GSC 03122-02426} is a W-subtype shallow contact (with a contact degree of $f = 15.3\,\%$) binary system. It may be a newly formed contact binary system which is just under geometrical contact and will evolve to be a thermal contact binary system. The …
Multi-color ($B$ $V$ $R_c$ $I_c$) CCD photometric light curves of the contact binary V502 Oph are analyzed using the Wilson-Devinney (W-D) program. The solutions reveal that V502 Oph is a W-subtype contact ($f = 35.3\,\%$) binary system. The temperature difference between its two components is $240K$ and the more massive star has a lower surface temperature. A cool spot is added in our model to account for the light curves' asymmetry (O'Connell effect) and third light is detected for the first time in the light curves' modeling. Combining the orbital inclination ($i = 76.4^{\circ}$) with the p…
We performed photometric and spectroscopic investigations of NSVS 5029961 for the first time. The new BV(RI)$_c$-band light curves were obtained with the 1.0-m telescope at Weihai Observatory of Shandong University. Applying the Wilson-Devinney program, we found that NSVS 5029961 is an A-subtype shallow contact binary with extremely low mass ratio (q = 0.1515, f = 19.1\%). Six spectra have been obtained by LAMOST, and many chromospheric activity emission line indicators were detected in the spectra, revealing that the target exhibits strong chromospheric activity. We calculated the absolute pa…
High precision CCD observations of six totally eclipsing contact binaries were presented and analyzed. It is found that only one target is an A-type contact binary (V429 Cam), while the others are W-type contact ones. By analyzing the times of light minima, we discovered that two of them exhibit secular period increase while three manifest long-term period decrease. For V1033 Her, a cyclic variation superimposed on the long-term increase was discovered. By comparing the Gaia distances with those calculated by the absolute parameters of 173 contact binaries, we found that Gaia distance can be a…
The subtype of hot algol semidetached binaries dubbed Double Periodic Variables (DPVs) are characterized by a photometric cycle longer than the orbital one, whose nature has been related to a magnetic dynamo in the donor component controlling the mass transfer rate. We aim to understand the morphologic changes observed in the light curve of OGLE-BLG-ECL-157529 that are linked to the long cycle. In particular, we want to explain the changes in relative depth of primary and secondary eclipses. We analyze $I$ and $V$-band OGLE photometric times series spanning 18.5 years and model the orbital lig…
Two recently discovered variable stars (CzeV134 = GSC 3682 0018 = USNO-A2.0 1425-1870026 and CzeV135 = GSC 3682 2051 = USNO-A2.0 1425-1825909 = V1094 Cas), which have been identified in the field of the W UMa variable star BS Cas, are studied in the present paper. The phase curves and finding charts for these stars are presented. The ephemeris and other photometric parameters were computed. The phenomenological features indicate that the first star (CzeV134) is probably a low-amplitude RRc Lyrae - type variable star with the period P = 0.419794\pm0.000029 d and the initial epoch T0 = HJD245323…
YZ Phe is a very short-period contact binary (Sp.= $K2\,V$) with an orbital period of 0.2347 days near the short period limit (0.22 d). We present the complete light curves in $VRI$ bands, which photometric data were obtained with the 0.61-m telescope of PROMPT-8 at CTIO in Chile during June to October 2016 and August 2017. The photometric solutions were determined by using the W-D method and the results reveal that YZ Phe is a W-subtype shallow contact binary ($f\sim$ 10%, $q$ = 2.635 or $1/q$ = 0.379 for W subtype) with rotational motion of a large hot spot on the more massive component, sho…
We present analysis of optical photometric and polarimetric observations of contact binary system FO Hydra (FO Hya). The computed period of the system is 0.469556+/-0.000003 days. An O-C curve analysis indicates an increase in its period by 5.77x10^{-8} day yr^{-1}. The photometric light curves are analyzed using Wilson-Devinney code (WD). The present analysis shows that FO Hya is a B-subtype of W UMa type contact binary. The radii and mass of primary and secondary components are found, respectively, to be R_1 = 1.62+/-0.03 R_sun and R_2 = 0.91+/-0.02 R_sun, and M_1 = 1.31+/-0.07 M_sun and M_2…
GU Ori was observed with the 1m telescope at Yunnan Observatories in 2005. To determine its physical properties, the Wilson-Devinney program is used. The results reveal that GU Ori is a W-subtype shallow contact binary with a more massive but cooler star 2. The mass of its two component stars are estimated to be $M_1 = 0.45M_\odot$, $M_2 = 1.05M_\odot$. The O'Connell effect was reported to be negative on the light curves observed in 2005. However, it changed to a positive one on the light curves observed from 2011 to 2012. The mean surface temperatures of star 2 ($T_2$) determined by the two s…
The first V Rc Ic bands light curves of MQ UMa are presented and analyzed using the Wilson-Devinney (W-D) program. It is discovered that MQ UMa is an A-subtype contact binary with a high fill-out (f=82 %) and a low mass ratio (q = 0:195), which indicates that it is in the late evolutionary stage of latetype tidal-locked binary stars. The mass of the primary and secondary stars are estimated and the evolutionary status of the two components are placed in the H-R diagram. The W-D solutions also indicates that MQ UMa may be a triple system with an F5V type additional component. A sample of sixtee…
Multi-color photometric light curves of NO Cam in $V$ $R_C$ and $I_C$ bands are obtained and analyzed simultaneously using the Wilson-Devinney (W-D) program. The solutions suggest that NO Cam is an A-subtype overcontact binary with its mass ratio to be $q = 0.439$ and a contact degree of $f = 55.5\,\%$. The small temperature difference ($ΔT = 44K$) between its two components indicates that the system is under thermal contact. The high orbital inclination ($i = 84.5^{\circ}$) strengthens our confidence in the parameters determined from the light curves. All available times of minimum light are …
The first multi-color light curve analysis of the AH Mic binary system is presented. This system has very few past observations from the southern hemisphere. We extracted the minima times from the light curves based on the Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) approach and obtained a new ephemeris. To provide modern photometric light curve solutions, we used the Physics of Eclipsing Binaries (Phoebe) software package and the MCMC approach. Light curve solutions yielded a system temperature ratio of 0.950, and we assumed a cold star-spot for the hotter star based on the O'Connell effect. This analysi…
We present the photometric and spectroscopic analysis of four W UMa binaries J015829.5+260333 (hereinafter as J0158), J030505.1+293443 (hereinafter as J0305), J102211.7+310022 (hereinafter as J1022) and KW Psc. The VRcIc band photometric observations are carried out with the 1.3-m Devasthal Fast Optical Telescope. For low resolution spectroscopy, we used 2-m Himalayan Chandra Telescope as well as the archival data from 4-m LAMOST survey. The systems J0158 and J0305 show a period increase rate of 5.26(+/-1.72)x10^-7 days/yr and 1.78(+/-1.52)x10^-6 days/yr, respectively. The period of J1022 is f…
New light curves and photometric solutions of FP Lyn, FV CVn and V354 UMa are presented. It is found that these three systems are W-subtype shallow contact binaries. In addition, it is obvious that the light curves of FP Lyn and V354 UMa are asymmetric. Therefore, a hot spot was added on the primary star of FP Lyn and a dark spot was added on the secondary star of V354 UMa. At the same time, we added a third light to the photometric solution of FP Lyn for the final result. The obtained mass ratios and fill-out factors are $q=1.153$ and $f=13.4\%$ for FP Lyn, $q=1.075$ and $f=4.6\%$ for FV CVn,…
We present V, Rc photometric observations of the short-period W UMa star V568 Peg. They allowed us to improve its period. The light curve solution revealed that V568 Peg is an overcontact binary of A subtype with moderate fill-out factor. Its components are K stars which undergo partial eclipses. The mass ratio was estimated by q-search analysis. We established existing of big cool spot on the primary component with almost the same parameters during the last 4 years. Based on our light curve solution and the GAIA distance we calculated at the first time the masses, radii and luminosities of th…
Comprehensive photometric investigation was carried out to the early K-type contact binary - IL Cnc. A few light curves from both ground-based telescopes and the Kepler space telescope were obtained (or downloaded) and then analyzed in detail. They are mostly found to be asymmetric and there are even continuously changing O'Connell effect in the light curves from Kepler K2 data, suggesting the system to be highly active. Using the Wilson-Devinney code (version 2013), photometric solutions were derived and then compared. It is found that the calculation of the mass ratio is easily affected by t…
The first multi-colour light curve models and period studies for the totally eclipsing W UMa stars TYC 3700-1384-1, V1511 Her and V1179 Her are presented. All three stars are A-subtype W UMa stars of spectral type F. The light curve solutions show that TYC 3700-1384-1 has a moderately low mass ratio of q = 0.182 +/- 0.001 and a degree of overcontact of f = 49%. For V1179 Her a mass ratio q = 0.153 +/- 0.001 and a degree of overcontact of f = 48% is derived. The solution for V1511 Her is inconclusive, however the mass ratio is expected to be between 0.13 < q < 0.15. The evolutionary status is c…
We present an investigation of a large sample of confirmed (N=233) and candidate (N=54) Galactic classical Be stars (mean V magnitude range of 6.4 to 12.6 mag), with the main aim of characterizing their photometric variability. Our sample stars were preselected among early-type variables using light curve morphology criteria. Spectroscopic information was gleaned from the literature, and archival and newly-acquired spectra. Photometric variability was analyzed using archival ASAS-3 time series data. To enable a comparison of results, we have largely adopted the methodology of Labadie-Bartz et …
Examination of the temporal variability properties of several strong optical recombination lines in a large sample of Galactic Wolf-Rayet (WR) stars reveals possible trends, especially in the more homogeneous WC than the diverse WN subtypes, of increasing wind variability with cooler subtypes. This could imply that a serious contender for the driver of the variations is stochastic, magnetic subsurface convection associated with the 170 kK partial-ionization zone of iron, which should occupy a deeper and larger zone of greater mass in cooler WR subtypes. This empirical evidence suggests that th…
When observing the transiting extrasolar planets, we discovered a new W UMa type binary GSC 03553-00845. Following observation was carried out using the 1m telescope at Weihai Observatory of Shandong University. Complete BVR light curves were determined. Using the W-D program, we analyzed the light curves. Photometric solution reveals that GSC 03553-00845 is a W-subtype W UMa type binary with a mass ratio of q=2.904, it is an overcontact binary system by a contact degree of f=29.5% with a small temperature difference between the components (ΔT=206 K indicating a good thermal contact between th…

We present the search for eclipsing binaries with a pulsating component in the first catalogue of optically variable sources observed by OMC/INTEGRAL, which contains photometric data for more than 1000 eclipsing binaries. Five objects were found and a detailed analysis of one of them, DY Aqr, has been performed. Photometric and spectroscopic observations of DY Aqr were obtained to analyse the binary system and the pulsational characteristics of the primary component. By applying the binary modelling software phoebe to the OMC and ground-based photometric light curves, and to the radial velocit…
We present a catalogue of 551,214 main-sequence stars in the local ($d < 2$ kpc) Galactic thick disk and halo, based on a search of stars with large proper motions ($μ_{\mathrm{tot}} > 40.0$ mas/yr) in the Gaia Early Data Release 3. We derive photometric metallicity calibrated from the colour-luminosity-metallicity distribution of 20,047 stars with spectroscopic metallicities, collected from various spectroscopic surveys, including SDSS SEGUE/APOGEE, GALAH DR3, and LAMOST DR6. We combine these results to construct an empirical colour-magnitude-metallicity grid, which can be used to estimate ph…
We present simultaneous photometric and spectroscopic observations of seven young and highly variable M dwarfs in star forming regions in Orion, conducted in 4 observing nights with FORS2 at ESO/VLT. All seven targets show significant photometric variability in the I-band, with amplitudes between 0.1-0.8 mag, The spectra, however, remain remarkably constant, with spectral type changes less than 0.5 subtypes. Thus, the brightness changes are not caused by veiling that 'fills in' absorption features. Three objects in the $σ$ Ori cluster (age $\sim$3 Myr) exhibit strong H$α$ emission and H$α$ var…
New complete light and radial velocities curves were obtained for the eclipsing binaries CC Her and CM Lac. The data are analysed with modern techniques in order to derive the physical parameters of the systems and study their present evolutionary status. We found that CC Her is a classical Algol type binary, while CM Lac is a detached system with two Main Sequence stars in asynchronous orbit.
The percentage of massive main sequence OB stars in binary systems is thought to be as high as 100%. However, very few Galactic binary red supergiants (RSGs) have been identified, despite the fact that these stars are the evolved descendants of OB stars. As shown in our recent paper, binary RSGs will likely have B-type companions, as dictated by stellar evolution considerations. Such a system will have a very unique photometric signature due to the shape of the spectral energy distribution. Using photometric cutoffs it should therefore be possible to detect candidate RSG+B star binary systems.…
Spectroscopic and Decade-long Photometric Observations of the Contact Binary V2790 Ori: Evidence for a Brown Dwarf Companion and a Solar-like Magnetic Activity Cycle
Comprehensive spectral analyses of the Galactic Wolf-Rayet stars of the nitrogen sequence (i.e.\ the WN subclass) have been performed in a previous paper. However, the distances of these objects were poorly known. Distances have a direct impact on the "absolute" parameters, such as luminosities and mass-loss rates. The recent Gaia Data Release (DR2) of trigonometric parallaxes includes nearly all WN stars of our Galactic sample. In the present paper, we apply the new distances to the previously analyzed Galactic WN stars and rescale the results accordingly. On this basis, we present a revised …

In this paper we present a combined photometric, spectroscopic and orbital period study of three early-type eclipsing binary systems: XZ Aql, UX Her, and AT Peg. As a result, we have derived the absolute parameters of their components and, on that basis, we discuss their evolutionary states. Furthermore, we compare their parameters with those of other binary systems and with the theoretical models. An analysis of all available up-to-date times of minima indicated that all three systems studied here show cyclic orbital changes, their origin is discussed in detail. Finally, we performed a freque…
CCD multi-band light curves of the neglected eclipsing binaries V405 Cep, V948 Her, KR Mon and UZ Sge were obtained and analysed using the Wilson-Devinney code. New geometric and absolute parameters were derived and used to determine their current evolutionary state. V405 Cep, V948 Her and KR Mon are detached systems with their components in almost the same evolutionary stage. UZ Sge is a classical Algol system with a tertiary companion around it. Moreover, since the systems V405 Cep, V948 Her and UZ Sge contain an early type component, their light curves were examined for possible pulsation b…
