We study compact star made of degenerate hidden sector nucleons which will be a candidate for cold dark matter. A hidden sector like QCD is considered, and as the low energy effective theory we take (hidden sector) $ SU(2) $ chiral sigma model including hidden sector vector meson. With the mean field approximation, we find that one can treat the equation of state (EOS) of our model analytically by introducing a variable which depends on the Fermi momentum. The EOS is specified by the two parameters $ C'_{/sigma} $,$ C'_{/omega} $, and we discuss how these parameters affect on the mass-radius relation for compact star as well as on the EOS. The dependence of the maximum stable mass of compact stars on the parameter $ C'_{/sigma} $ will also be discussed.
It is shown how the Equation of State (EoS) depends on nucleon properties inside Nuclear Matter (NM). We propose to benefit from the concept of enthalpy in order to include volume corrections to the nucleon rest energy, which are proportional to pressure and absent in a standard Relativistic Mean Field (RMF) with point-like nucleons. As a result, the nucleon mass can decrease inside NM, making the model nonlinear and the EoS softer. The course of the EoS in our RMF model agrees with a semi-empirical estimate and is close to the results obtained from extensive DBHF calculations with a Bonn A po…
Quark mass dependence of the equation of state (EOS) for nucleonic matter is investigated, on the basis of the Brueckner-Hartree-Fock method with the nucleon-nucleon interaction extracted from lattice QCD simulations. We observe saturation of nuclear matter at the lightest available quark mass corresponding to the pseudoscalar meson mass ~ 469 MeV. Mass-radius relation of the neutron stars is also studied with the EOS for neutron-star matter from the same nuclear force in lattice QCD. We observe that the EOS becomes stiffer and thus the maximum mass of neutron star increases as the quark mass …
We investigate flow in semi-peripheral nuclear collisions at AGS and SPS energies within macroscopic as well as microscopic transport models. The hot and dense zone assumes the shape of an ellipsoid which is tilted by an angle Theta with respect to the beam axis. If matter is close to the softest point of the equation of state, this ellipsoid expands predominantly orthogonal to the direction given by Theta. This antiflow component is responsible for the previously predicted reduction of the directed transverse momentum around the softest point of the equation of state.
Using the generalized mean field theory, we have studied the relation among the effective meson masses, the effective meson-nucleon couplings and the equation of state (EOS) in asymmetric nuclear matter. If the effective omega-meson mass becomes smaller at high density, the EOS becomes stiffer. However, if we require that the omega-meson mean field is proportional to the baryon density, the effective omega-nucleon coupling automatically becomes smaller at the same time as the effective omega-meson mass becomes smaller. Consequently, the EOS becomes softer. A similar relation is found for the e…
When skyrmions representing nucleons are put on crystal lattice and compressed to simulate high density, there is a transition above the normal nuclear matter density $n_0$ from a matter consisting of skyrmions with integer baryon charge to a state of half-skyrmions with half-integer baryon charge. We exploit this observation in an effective field theory formalism to access dense baryonic system. We find that the topology change involved implies a changeover from a Fermi liquid structure to a non-Fermi liquid with the chiral condensate in the nucleon "melted off." The $\sim 80%$ of the nucleon…

In the framework of constituent quark model, the effect of hidden color channels on the nucleon-nucleon ($NN$) interaction is studied. By adjusting the color confinement strength between the hidden color channels and color singlet channels and/or between the hidden color channels and hidden color channels, the experimental data of $S$ to $I$ partial-wave phase shifts of $NN$ scattering can be fitted well. The results show that the hidden color channel coupling might be important in producing the intermediate-range attraction of $NN$ interaction. The deuteron properties and dibaryon candidates …

The collective motion of nucleons from high-energy heavy-ion collisions is analyzed within a relativistic two-fluid model for different equations of state (EoS). As function of beam energy the theoretical slope parameter F_y of the differential directed flow is in good agreement with experimental data, when calculated for the QCD-consistent EoS described by the statistical mixed-phase model. Within this model, which takes the deconfinement phase transition into account, the excitation function of the directed flow <P_x> turns out to be a smooth function in the whole range from SIS till SPS ene…

There are several different experimental indications, such as the pion-nucleon sigma term and polarized deep-inelastic scattering, which suggest that the nucleon wave function contains a hidden s bar s component. This is expected in chiral soliton models, which also predicted the existence of new exotic baryons that may recently have been observed. Another hint of hidden strangeness in the nucleon is provided by copious phi production in various N bar N annihilation channels, which may be due to evasions of the Okubo-Zweig-Iizuka rule. One way to probe the possible polarization of hidden s bar…
The pentaquark $P_c^+(4450)$ recently discovered by LHCb has been interpreted as a bound state of $Ψ(2S)$ and nucleon. The charmonium-nucleon interaction which provides the binding mechanism is given, in the heavy quark limit, in terms of charmonium chromoelectric polarizabilities and densities of the nucleon energy-momentum tensor (EMT). In this work we show in model-independent way, by exploring general properties of the effective interaction, that $Ψ(2S)$ can form bound states with nucleon and $Δ$. Using the Skyrme model to evaluate the effective interaction in the large-$N_c$ limit and est…
We study the thermal evolution of neutron stars in the presence of hyperons or kaons in the core. Our results indicate that the nucleon and hyperon direct Urca processes play crucial roles for the cooling of neutron stars. The presence of hyperons drives fast cooling mechanisms in two ways: 1) it allows the hyperon direct Urca prior to the nucleon direct Urca, 2) and it makes the nucleon direct Urca more feasible by reducing the neutron Fermi momentum. We found that the neutron star equation of state (EOS) with hyperons can be consistent with both mass and temperature observations. We also fou…
In this talk we discuss the formation of exotic hadrons with hidden charm arising from three-body interactions. To be more specific, in the strangeness sector, we predict the existence of a mesonic state, $K^*(4307)$, which is dynamically generated from the three-body interactions of the $KD\bar{D}^*$ system, has mass around $4307$ MeV and quantum numbers $I(J^P) = 1/2\,(1^-)$. In the baryonic sector, we predict the existence of $N^*$ states, which are generated from the three-body interactions of the $ND\bar{D}^*$ system, with masses around $4400\sim 4600$ MeV, widths of $2\sim 20$ MeV and po…
The cross section for formation in $γ+ p$ collisions of the recently found hidden-charm pentaquark states $P_c(4380)$ and $P_c(4450)$ is discussed and estimated. The studies of these resonances in photon beam experiments can be complementary to those in the LHCb experiment setting, and may be more advantageous for measurement of their additional decay channels. It is pointed out that both the relative importance of such decays and the yield of the resonances in the $γ+ p$ collisions are sensitive to the internal dynamics of the pentaquarks and can resolve between theoretical models. Specific n…
We derive a two-parameter formula for the electromagnetic form factors of the nucleon described as an instanton by "integrating out" all KK modes other than the lowest mesons from the infinite-tower of vector mesons in holographic QCD while preserving hidden local symmetry for the resultant vector fields. With only two parameters, the proton Sachs form factors can be fit surprisingly well to the available experimental data for momentum transfers $Q^2\lsim 0.5$ GeV$^2$ with $χ^2$/dof $\lsim 2$. We interpret this agreement as indicating the importance of an infinite tower in the soliton structur…
GW170817 has provided valuable constraints on the equations of state of merging binary neutron stars, which can be considered as the most probable candidate for the source of gravitational waves. On the other hand, these natural laboratories of extreme temperature and density may lead to the estimation of some exotic matter like {deconfined quark matter in their cores}. In this paper, we investigate the neutron star matter equation of state (EoS) with the lowest order constrained variational (LOCV) method considering the excluded volume effect (VLOCV) for nucleons {to} compute the tidal deform…
In this presentation we discuss the generation of hadrons with an exotic quark content and hidden charm emerging from three-body interactions. To be more specific, we have studied the $KD\bar{D}^*/K\bar D D^*$ and $ND\bar{D}^*/N\bar{D}D^*$ systems and predicted states generated from the respective three-body dynamics. In the case of the $KD\bar{D}^*/K\bar D D^*$ system we predict the formation of a meson state with mass around $4307$ MeV and quantum numbers $I(J^P) = 1/2(1^-)$, $K^*(4307)$, and from the study of the $ND\bar{D}^*/N\bar{D}D^*$ system we found $N^*$ states with masses in the rang…
A mean field calculation is carried out to obtain the equation of state (EoS) of nuclear matter from a density dependent M3Y interaction (DDM3Y). The energy per nucleon is minimized to obtain ground state of the symmetric nuclear matter (SNM). The constants of density dependence of the effective interaction are obtained by reproducing the saturation energy per nucleon and the saturation density of SNM. The energy variation of the exchange potential is treated properly in the negative energy domain of nuclear matter. The EoS of SNM, thus obtained, is not only free from the superluminosity probl…
We study nucleon structure with positive and negative parities using a parity doublet model endowed with hidden local symmetry (HLS) with the objective to probe dense baryonic matter. The model -- that we shall refer to as "PDHLS model" for short -- allows a chiral-invariant mass of the nucleons unconnected to spontaneously broken chiral symmetry which comes out to be m_0 ~ 200 MeV at tree level from fitting to the decay width of the parity doubler, N(1535), to nucleon-pion and nucleon axial coupling g_A=1.267. The presence of a substantial m_0 that remains non-vanishing at chiral restoration …
The Equation of State (EoS) of dense matter represents a central issue in the study of compact astrophysical objects and heavy ion reactions at intermediate and relativistic energies. We have derived a nuclear EoS with nucleons and hyperons within the Brueckner-Hartree-Fock approach, and joined it with quark matter EoS. For that, we have employed the MIT bag model, as well as the Nambu--Jona-Lasinio (NJL) and the Color Dielectric (CD) models, and found that the NS maximum masses are not larger than 1.7 solar masses. A comparison with available data supports the idea that dense matter EoS shoul…
The equation of state (EoS) of neutron star (NS) matter is investigated considering kaon condensation. Moreover, the tidal parameters related to the components of binary neutron star mergers are determined and compared to the constraints of GW170817 imposed on these quantities. In this study, we employ the lowest-order constrained variational (LOCV) approach and utilize {AV6$'$, AV8$'$, and AV18 potentials} accompanied by the three nucleon interaction (TNI) {in order to consider the nucleon-nucleon interaction}. It is known that the existence of kaons in the core of NSs softens the EoS {and th…
Ab initio methods using weakly interacting nucleons give a good description of condensed nuclear matter up to densities comparable to the nuclear saturation density. At higher densities palpable strong interactions between overlapping nucleons become important; we propose that the interactions will continuously switch over to follow a holographic model in this region. In order to implement this, we construct hybrid equations of state (EoSs) where various models are used for low density nuclear matter, and the holographic V-QCD model is used for non-perturbative high density nuclear matter as w…
The cosmological origin of both dark and baryonic matter can be explained through a unified mechanism called hylogenesis where baryon and antibaryon number are divided between the visible sector and a GeV-scale hidden sector, while the Universe remains net baryon symmetric. The "missing" antibaryons, in the form of exotic hidden states, are the dark matter. We study model-building, cosmological, and phenomenological aspects of this scenario within the framework of supersymmetry, which naturally stabilizes the light hidden sector and electroweak mass scales. Inelastic dark matter scattering on …
We consider the so called hyperon puzzle of neutron star (NS). We employ Skyrme force models for the description of in-medium nucleon-nucleon, nucleon-Lambda hyperon ($NΛ$), and Lambda-Lambda ($ΛΛ$) interactions. A phenomenological finite-range force for the $ΛΛ$ interaction is considered as well. Equation of state (EoS) of NS matter is obtained in the framework of density functional theory, and Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff equations are solved to obtain the mass-radius relations of NSs. It has been generally known that the existence of hyperons in the NS matter is not well supported by the rece…
I discuss how to access dense baryonic matter of compact stars by combining hidden local symmetry (HLS) of light-quark vector mesons with spontaneously broken scale invariance of a (pseudo) Nambu-Goldstone boson, dilaton, in a description that parallels the approach to dilatonic Higgs. Some of the surprising observations are that the bulk of proton mass is not Nambu-Goldstonian, parity doubling emerges at high density and the EoS of baryonic matter can be soft enough for heavy-ion processes at low density and stiff enough at high density for $\sim 2$ solar mass neutron stars.
Within an effective non-linear chiral model, we evaluate nuclear matter parameters exploiting the uncertainties in the nuclear saturation properties. The model is sternly constrained with minimal free parameters, which display the interlink between nuclear incompressibility ($K$), the nucleon effective mass ($m^{\star}$), the pion decay constant ($f_π$) and the $σ-$meson mass ($m_σ$). The best fit among the various parameter set is then extracted and employed to study the resulting Equation of state (EOS). Further, we also discuss the consequences of imposing constraints on nuclear EOS from He…
We construct a new effective field theory approach to the equation of state (EoS), dubbed pseudo-confomal model "PCM," for nuclear and compact star matter entirely in terms of effective hadron degrees of freedom. The possible transition at $n\sim (2-4) n_0$ (where $n_0$ is the normal nuclear matter density) from hadron degrees of freedom to strongly-coupled quark degrees of freedom, giving rise to a soft-to-hard changeover in the EoS that can accommodate the massive stars observed, is effectuated by the topology change at $n_{1/2}\gsim 2n_0$ from skyrmions to half-skyrmions without involving l…
We present in this paper a simple and unequivocal prediction on the deformation of the compact star, that will be measured in gravity waves, with an EoS obtained in renormailzation-group implemented effective field theory anchored on scale and hidden-local symmetric Lagrangian endowed with topology change . The objective is not to offer a superior or improved EoS for compact stars but to confront with a forthcoming astrophysical observable the given model formulated in what is considered to be consistent with the premise of QCD. The model so obtained is found to satisfactorily describe the obs…
We construct an equation of state (EOS) for neutron stars by interpolating hadronic EOS at low density and quark EOS at high density. A hadronic model based on the parity doublet structure is used for hadronic matter and a quark model of Nambu--Jona-Lasinio type is for quark matter. We assume crossover between hadronic matter and quark matter in the the color-flavor locked phase. The nucleon mass of the parity doublet model has a mass associated with the chiral symmetry breaking, and a chiral invariant mass $m_0$ which is insensitive to the chiral condensate. The value of $m_0$ affects the nuc…

The objective is not to offer a superior or improved EoS for compact stars but to confront with a forthcoming astrophysical observable the given model formulated in what is considered to be consistent with the premise of QCD. We investigate the equation of state(EoS) and the effect of the hadron-quark phase transition of strong interaction matter in compact stars. The hadron matter is described with the relativistic mean field theory, and the quark matter is described with the Dyson-Schwinger equation approach of QCD. The complete EoS of the hybrid star matter is constructed with not only the Gibbs construction but also the 3-window interpolation. The mass-radius relation of hybrid stars is also investigated. We find that, although the EoSs of both the hadron matter with hyperon and $Δ$-baryon and the quark matter a…
We perform statistically rigorous uncertainty quantification (UQ) for chiral effective field theory ($χ$EFT) applied to infinite nuclear matter up to twice nuclear saturation density. The equation of state (EOS) is based on high-order many-body perturbation theory calculations with nucleon-nucleon and three-nucleon interactions up to fourth order in the $χ$EFT expansion. From these calculations our newly developed Bayesian machine-learning approach extracts the size and smoothness properties of the correlated EFT truncation error. We then propose a novel extension that uses multitask machine l…
The vector dominance of the electromagnetic form factors both for mesons and baryons arises naturally in holographic QCD, where both the number of colors and the 't Hooft coupling are taken to be very large, offering a bona-fide derivation of the notion of vector dominance. The crucial ingredient for this is the infinite tower of vector mesons in the approximations made which share features that are characteristic of the quenched approximation in lattice QCD. We approximate the infinite sum by contributions from the lowest four vector mesons of the tower which turn out to saturate the charge a…
We explore the implications of the recent radius determination of PSR J0740+6620 by the NICER experiment combined with the neutron skin measurement by the PREX-II experiment and the associated inference of the slope of symmetry energy, for the structure of hybrid stars with a strong first-order phase transition from nucleonic to quark matter. We combine a covariant density-functional nucleonic equation of state (EOS) with a constant-speed-of-sound EOS for quark matter. We show that the radius and tidal deformability ranges obtained from GW170817 can be reconciled with the implication of the PR…
