We consider large-angle two photon production in $e^+ e^-$ annihilation as a possible process to monitor the luminosity of a future $e^+ e^-$ circular collider (FCC-ee). We review and assess the status of the theoretical accuracy by performing a detailed phenomenological study of next-to-leading order electroweak corrections and leading logarithmic QED contributions due to multiple photon radiation. We also estimate the impact of photonic and fermion-loop corrections at next-to-next-to-leading order and the uncertainty induced by the hadronic contribution to the vacuum polarization. Possible perspectives to address the target theoretical accuracy are briefly discussed.
An optimal-observable analysis of the lepton angular and energy distributions from top-quark pair production with semi-leptonic decays in e+e- collisions is used to predict the potential sensitivity of the FCC-ee to the couplings of the top quark to the photon and the Z.
The prospects for electroweak precision measurements at the Future Circular Collider with electron-positron beams (FCC-ee) are discussed. The Z mass and width, as well as the value of the electroweak mixing angle, can be measured with very high precision at the Z pole thanks to an instantaneous luminosity five to six order of magnitudes larger than LEP. At centre-of-mass energies around 160 GeV, corresponding to the WW production threshold, the W mass can be determined very precisely with high-statistics cross section measurements at several energy points. Similarly, a very precise determinati…
The proposed electron-proton collider experiments LHeC and FCC-eh at CERN are the highest resolution microscopes that can be realised in the present century and they would represent a really unique research facility. We exploit simulated neutral-current and charged-current deep-inelastic scattering data of the LHeC and the FCC-eh and examine their sensitivity for precision physics in the Electroweak sector of the Standard Model (SM), like the effective weak mixing angle $\sin^2θ_{\textrm{W},\ell}^\textrm{eff}$, or the light-quark weak-neutral-current couplings. Unique measurements are further …
Due to the high anticipated experimental precision at the Future Circular Collider FCC-ee (or other proposed $e^+e^-$ colliders, such as ILC, CLIC, or CEPC) for electroweak and Higgs-boson precision measurements, theoretical uncertainties may have, if unattended, an important impact on the interpretation of these measurements within the Standard Model (SM), and thus on constraints on new physics. Current theory uncertainties, which would dominate the total uncertainty, need to be strongly reduced through future advances in the calculation of multi-loop radiative corrections together with impro…
Because of a luminosity of up to five orders of magnitude larger than at LEP, electroweak precision measurements at the FCC-ee -- the Future Circular Collider with electron-positron beams -- would provide improvements by orders of magnitude over the present status and constitute a broad search for the existence of new, weakly interacting particles up to very high energy scales. The FCC-ee will address centre-of-mass energies ranging from below the Z pole to the $\mathrm{t\bar{t}}$ threshold and above. At energies around the Z pole, the Z-boson mass and width can be measured to better than 100 …
The future of high-precision electroweak physics lies in e+e- collider measurements of properties of the Z boson, the W boson, the Higgs boson, and the top quark. We estimate the expected performance of three possible future colliders: the ILC, FCC-ee (formerly known as TLEP), and CEPC. In particular, we present the first estimates of the possible reach of CEPC, China's proposed Circular Electron-Positron Collider, for the oblique parameters S and T and for seven-parameter fits of Higgs couplings. These results allow the physics potential for CEPC to be compared with that of the ILC and FCC-ee…

Construction of future electron-positron colliders (or dedicated electron linac) and muon colliders (or dedicated muon ring) tangential to Future Circular Collider (FCC) will give opportunity to utilize highest energy proton and nucleus beams for lepton-hadron and photon-hadron collisions. Luminosity values of FCC based ep, \mup, eA, \muA, \gammap and \gammaA colliders are estimated. Multi-TeV center of mass energy ep colliders based on the FCC and linear colliders (LC) are considered in detail. Parameters of upgraded versions of the FCC proton beam are determined to optimize luminosity of ele…
In this paper, a study is carried out on the $e^-p \to e^-γ^* p \to p W^+γν_e$ production to probe quartic $W^+W^-γγ$ couplings using 10, 100 ${\rm fb^{-1}}$ of $e^-p$ collisions data at $\sqrt{s}$= 1.30, 1.98 GeV at the Large Hadron electron Collider (LHeC) and 100, 1000 ${\rm fb^{-1}}$ with $\sqrt{s}$= 3.46, 5.29 GeV at the Future Circular Collider-hadron electron (FCC-he). Production cross-sections are determined for both at leptonic and hadronic decay channel of the $W$-boson. With the data from future $e^-p$ colliders, it is possible to obtain sensitivity measures at $95\%$ C.L. on the an…
To exploit properly the precision physics program at the FCC-ee, the theoretical precision tag on the respective luminosity will need to be improved from the 0.054$\%$ (0.061$\%$) results at LEP to 0.01$\%$, where the former (latter) LEP result has (does not have) the pairs correction. We present an overview of the roads one may take to reach the required 0.01$\%$ precision tag at the FCC-ee and we discuss possible synergistic effects of the walk along these roads for other FCC precision theory requirements.
We present pathways to the required theoretical precision for the luminosity targeted by the FCC-ee precision studies. We put the discussion in context by reviewing briefly the situation at the time of LEP. We then present the current status and routes to the desired 0.01\% targeted by the FCC-ee (as well as by the ILC).
The Future Circular Collider (FCC) is a post-LHC project aiming at searches for physics beyond the SM in a new 80--100~km tunnel at CERN. Running in its first phase as a very-high-luminosity electron-positron collider (FCC-ee), it will provide unique possibilities for indirect searches of new phenomena through high-precision tests of the SM. In addition, by collecting tens of ab$^{-1}$ integrated luminosity in the range of center-of-mass energies $\sqrt{s}$~=90--350~GeV, the FCC-ee also offers unique physics opportunities for precise measurements of QCD phenomena and of photon-photon collision…
Matching and comparing measurements of past and future experiments calls for consistency checks of calculations used for their interpretation. New schemes of the field theory may optimize precision, but obscure comparisons with earlier results. Over years concepts of Improved Born, Effective Born, effective couplings, and sin^2theta_W^eff mixing angle for electroweak interactions, have evolved. We use four DIZET electroweak library versions; of today and of the last 30 years, wich were used for phenomenology of practically all HEP accelerator experiments. Versions differ by incremented with ti…
The current status of the theoretical precision for the Bhabha luminometry is critically reviewed and pathways are outlined to the requirement targeted by the FCC-ee precision studies. Various components of the pertinent error budget are discussed in detail -- starting from the context of the LEP experiments, through their current updates, up to prospects of their improvements for the sake of the FCC-ee. It is argued that with an appropriate upgrade of the Monte Carlo event generator BHLUMI and/or other similar MC programs calculating QED effects in the low angle Bhabha process, the total theo…
High precision experimental measurements of the properties of the Higgs boson at $\sim$ 125 GeV as well as electroweak precision observables such as the W -boson mass or the effective weak leptonic mixing angle are expected at future $e^+e^-$ colliders such as the FCC-ee. This high anticipated precision has to be matched with theory predictions for the measured quantities at the same level of accuracy. We briefly summarize the status of these predictions within the Standard Model (SM) and of the tools that are used for their determination. We outline how the theory predictions will have to be …
With its high luminosity, its clean experimental conditions, and a range of energies that cover the four heaviest particles known today, FCC-ee offers a wealth of physics possibilities, with high potential for discoveries. The FCC-ee is an essential and complementary step towards a 100 TeV hadron collider, and as such offers a uniquely powerful combined physics program. This vision is the backbone of the 2020 European Strategy for Particle Physics. One of the main challenges is now to design experimental systems that can, demonstrably, fully exploit these extraordinary opportunities.
For both the FCC-ee and the ILC, to exploit properly the respective precision physics program, the theoretical precision tag on the respective luminosity will need to be improved from the analogs of the $ 0.054 \% (0.061\%)$ results at LEP at $M_Z$, where the former (latter) LEP result has (does not have) the pairs correction. At the FCC-ee at $M_Z$ one needs improvement to $0.01\%$, for example. We present an overview of the roads one may take to reach the required $0.01\%$ precision tag at the FCC-ee and of what the corresponding precision expectations would be for the FCC-ee$_{350}$, ILC$_{…

Many extensions of the standard model (SM) involve new massive particles charged under the electroweak gauge symmetry. The electroweakly interacting new particles affect various SM processes through radiative corrections. We discuss the possibility of detecting such new particles based on the precise measurement of the SM processes at high energy hadron colliders. It then turns out that Drell-Yan processes receive radiative corrections from the electroweakly interacting particles at the level of ${\cal O}$(0.1-10) %. It is hence possible to indirectly search for the Higgsino up to the mass of …
The prospective Higgs factories, exemplified by ILC, FCC-ee and CEPC, plan to conduct the precision Higgs measurements at the $e^+e^-$ center-of-mass energy around 250 GeV. The cross sections for the dominant Higgs production channel, the Higgsstrahlung process, can be measured to a (sub-) percent accuracy. Merely incorporating the well-known next-to-leading order (NLO) electroweak corrections appears far from sufficient to match the unprecedented experimental precision. In this work, we make an important advancement toward this direction by investigating the mixed electroweak-QCD corrections …
The forward proton detectors recently installed and operating at the LHC open the possibility to observe photon collisions with high precision, providing a novel window on physics beyond the Standard Model. We review recent simulations and theoretical developments about the measurement of anomalous $γγγγ$ and $Zγγγ$ interactions. The searches for these anomalous gauge interactions are expected to set bounds on a wide range of particles including generic electroweak particles, neutral particles with dimension-5 coupling to gauge bosons, polarizable dark particles, and are typically complementar…
In this paper, a detailed study to probe the top quark Flavour-Changing Neutral Currents (FCNC) $tqγ$ and $tqZ$ at the future $e^{-}e^{+}$ collider FCC-ee in three different center-of-mass energies of 240, 350 and 500 GeV is presented. A set of useful variables are proposed and used in a multivariate technique to separate signal $e^- e^+ \rightarrow Z/γ\rightarrow t \bar{q} ~ ( \bar{t} q )$ from standard model background processes. The study includes a fast detector simulation based on the {\sc delphes} package to consider the detector effects. The $3 σ$ discovery regions and the upper limits …
I give an overview of the physics potential at possible future $e^+ e^-$ colliders, including the ILC, FCC-ee, and CEPC. The goal is to explain some of the measurements that can be done in the context of electroweak precision tests and Higgs couplings, to compare some of the options under consideration, and to put the measurements in context by summarizing their implications for some new physics scenarios. This is a writeup of a plenary talk at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology Jockey Club Institute for Advanced Study Program on High Energy Physics Conference, January 18--21, …
The expected experimental precision of the rates and asymmetries in the Future Circular Collider with electron positron beams (FCC-ee) in the centre of the mass energy range 88-365GeV considered for construction in CERN, will be better by a factor 5-200. This will be thanks to very high luminosity, factor up to $10^5$ higher than in the past LEP experiments. This poses the extraordinary challenge of improving the precision of the Standard Model predictions by a comparable factor. In particular the perturbative calculations of the trivial QED effects, which have to be removed from the experimen…
Now that the mass of the Higgs boson is known, circular electron positron colliders, able to measure the properties of these particles with high accuracy, are receiving considerable attention. Design studies have been launched (i) at CERN with the Future Circular Colliders (FCC), of which an e+e- collider is a potential first step (FCC-ee, formerly caller TLEP) and (ii) in China with the Circular Electron Positron Collider (CEPC). Hosted in a tunnel of at least 50 km (CEPC) or 80-100 km (FCC), both projects can deliver very high luminosity from the Z peak to HZ threshold (CEPC) and even to the…
The increase in luminosity and center of mass energy at the FCC-hh will open up new clean channels where BSM contributions are enhanced at high energy. In this paper we study one such channel, $Wh \to \ellνγγ$. We estimate the sensitivity to the $\mathcal{O}_{φq}^{(3)}$, $\mathcal{O}_{φ{W}}$, and $\mathcal{O}_{φ\widetilde {W}}$ SMEFT operators. We find that this channel will be competitive with fully leptonic $WZ$ production in setting bounds on $\mathcal{O}_{φq}^{(3)}$. We also find that the double differential distribution in the $p_T^h$ and the leptonic azimuthal angle can be exploited to e…
The Large Hadron-Electron Collider (LHeC) will operate at $\sqrt{s}$ = 1.2 TeV and accumulate about 1/ab of integrated electron-proton luminosity. Novel studies of high energy photon-photon interactions at the LHeC, at the $γγ$ center-of-mass energy up to 1 TeV, will open new frontiers in the electroweak physics as well as in searches for physics beyond the Standard Model. Despite a very high $ep$ luminosity, the experimental conditions will be very favorable at the LHeC - a negligible event pileup will allow for unique studies of a number of processes involving the exclusive production via ph…
What is the luminosity needed for discovering new physics if the electroweak scale is to remain stable? In this work we study this question, with the example of a real singlet scalar which couples to the Higgs field already at the renormalizable level. Observing that the electroweak scale remains stable if the two scalars couple in a seesawic fashion, we show that the HL-LHC, expected to deliver an integrated luminosity around 3/ab, can discover scalars weighing up to 800 GeV. The FCC-hh, on the other hand, can discover scalars as heavy as 2.3 TeV at 100/ab luminosity. It thus follows that the…
Several extensions of the Standard Model predict the existence of new neutral spin-1 resonances associated to the electroweak symmetry breaking sector. Using the data from ATLAS (with integrated luminosity of L=1.02 fb^{-1}) and CMS (with integrated luminosity of L=1.55 fb^{-1}) on the production of W+W- pairs through the process pp -> l^+ l^{\prime -} \sla{E}_T, we place model independent bounds on these new vector resonances masses, couplings and widths. Our analyses show that the present data excludes new neutral vector resonances with masses up to 1-2.3 TeV depending on their couplings and…
Measurements of electroweak precision observables at future electron-positron colliders, such as the CEPC, FCC-ee, and ILC, will be sensitive to physics at multi-TeV scales. To achieve this sensitivity, precise predictions for the Standard Model expectations of these observables are needed, including corrections at the three- and four-loop level. In this article, results are presented for the calculation of a subset of three-loop mixed electroweak-QCD corrections, stemming from diagrams with a gluon exchange and two closed fermion loops. The numerical impact of these corrections is illustrated…
We present two new extractions of the QCD coupling constant at the Z pole, $α_S(m_Z)$, from detailed comparisons of inclusive W and Z hadronic decays data to state-of-the-art perturbative Quantum Chromodynamics calculations at next-to-next-to-next-to-leading order (N$^{3}$LO) accuracy, incorporating the latest experimental and theoretical developments. In the W boson case, the total width computed at N$^{3}$LO is used for the first time in the extraction. For the Z boson pseudo-observables, the N$^{3}$LO results are complemented with the full two- and partial three-loop electroweak corrections…

We study the anomalous FCNC $tqγ$ and $tqg$ couplings via $pp\to Wbγ+X$ signal process including realistic detector effects for both leptonic and hadronic decay channels of the W boson at 100 TeV FCC-hh. The relevant background are considered in the cut based analysis to obtain not only limits on the anomalous $λ$ and $ζ$ couplings but also branching ratios of $t\to qγ$ and $t\to qg$ decay channels. We find that the sensitivity to the branching ratio of $t \to q γ$ channel is three order better than the available LHC experimental limits, and it is comparable for the branching ratio of the $t\t…
Future electron-position colliders, such as CEPC and FCC-ee, have the capability to dramatically improve the experimental precision for W and Z-boson masses and couplings. This would enable indirect probes of physics beyond the Standard Model at multi-TeV scales. For this purpose, one must complement the experimental measurements with equally precise calculations for the theoretical predictions of these quantities within the Standard Model, including three-loop electroweak corrections. This article reports on the calculation of a subset of these corrections, stemming from diagrams with three c…
Low luminosity runs at higher LHC energy could provide definitive evidence for an electroweak scale sextet quark sector of QCD that produces electroweak symmetry breaking and dark matter within the bound-state S-Matrix of QUD - a massless, weak coupling, infra-red fixed-point, SU(5) field theory that might underly and unify the full Standard Model.
The future 100-km circular collider FCC at CERN is planned to operate in one of its modes as an electron-positron FCC-ee machine. We give an overview comparing the theoretical status to the experimental demands of one of four foreseen FCC-ee operating stages, Z-boson resonance energy physics, called the FCC-ee Tera-Z stage for short. The FCC-ee Tera-Z will deliver the highest integrated luminosities as well as very small systematic errors for a study of the Standard Model (SM) with unprecedented precision. In fact, the FCC-ee Tera-Z will allow the study of at least one more perturbative order …
We carry out a study in the approach of a dimension-8 effective field theory on the anomalous quartic $WWγγ$ couplings that arise from the process $pp \to Wγγ$ at the Future Circular Collider-hadron hadron (FCC-hh). The process is sensitive to the $WWγγ$ vertex, and future projections on the anomalous $f_ {M,i}/Λ^4$ and $ f_ {T,j}/Λ^4$ couplings can be put by measurements of $Wγγ$ production. We illustrate the physics opportunities and reach of the FCC-hh operating for a high integrated luminosity scenario of ${\cal L}=1, 5, 10, 30$ ${\rm ab}^{-1}$ of proton-proton collisions at a center-of-ma…
We investigate the possible presence of Flavor Changing Neutral Current (FCNC) couplings of the top quark with gluon and photon through $e^-p\to e^-tj$ process at the Future Circular Collider in the proton-electron mode (FCC-he). Focusing on disentangling the effects of different couplings that could be present, we exploit the presence of the scattered electron, the angular distribution of which is sensitive to the type of coupling involved. Top quark polarisation accessed through the angular distribution of the decay lepton provides additional handle in identifying the nature of the couplings…
We compute the dominant logarithmically enhanced two-loop electroweak corrections to the electron-positron scattering differential cross section in the high energy limit for large scattering angles. Depending on the scattering angle and energy the two-loop corrections may exceed one percent and are important for the high-precision luminosity spectrum determination at a future linear collider.
We study the prospects for probing a gauge singlet scalar-driven strong first order electroweak phase transition with a future proton-proton collider in the 100 TeV range. Singlet-Higgs mixing enables resonantly-enhanced di-Higgs production, potentially aiding discovery prospects. We perform Monte Carlo scans of the parameter space to identify regions associated with a strong first-order electroweak phase transition, analyze the corresponding di-Higgs signal, and select a set of benchmark points that span the range of di-Higgs signal strengths. For the $b\bar{b}γγ$ and $4τ$ final states, we in…
We suggest an appealing strategy to probe a large class of scenarios beyond the Standard Model simultaneously explaining the recent CDF II measurement of the $W$ boson mass and predicting first-order phase transitions (FOPT) testable in future gravitational-wave (GW) experiments. Our analysis deploys measurements from the GW channels and high energy particle colliders. We discuss this methodology focusing on the specific example provided by an extension of the Standard Model of particle physics that incorporates an additional scalar $\mathrm{SU}(2)_{\rm L}$ triplet coupled to the Higgs boson. …
