Strongly sequentially separable function spaces, via selection principles

A separable space is strongly sequentially separable if, for each countable dense set, every point in the space is a limit of a sequence from the dense set. We consider this and related properties, for the spaces of continous and Borel real-valued functions on Tychonoff spaces, with the topology of pointwise convergence. Our results solve a problem stated by Gartside, Lo, and Marsh.

On topological classification of normed spaces endowed with the weak topology or the topology of compact convergence

In this paper the weak topology on a normed space is studied from the viewpoint of infinite-dimensional topology. Besides the weak topology on a normed space $X$ (coinciding with the topology of uniform convergence on finite subsets of the dual space $X^*$), we consider the topology $c$ of uniform convergence on compact subsets of $X^*$. Irreducible Quotient Maps From Locally Compact Separable Metric Spaces

We prove that if X is a separable metric space with the Hurewicz covering property, then the Banach-Mazur game played on X is determined. The implication is not true when "Hurewicz covering property" is replaced with "Menger covering property".

Relating games of Menger, countable fan tightness, and selective separability

By adapting techniques of Arhangel'skii, Barman, and Dow, we may equate the existence of perfect-information, Markov, and tactical strategies between two interesting selection games. These results shed some light on Gruenhage's question asking whether all strategically selectively separable spaces are Markov selectively separable.

Continuous selections and sigma-spaces

Assume that X is a metrizable separable space, and each clopen-valued lower semicontinuous multivalued map Phi from X to Q has a continuous selection. Our main result is that in this case, X is a sigma-space. We also derive a partial converse implication, and present a reformulation of the Scheepers Conjecture in the language of continuous selections.

On some properties of the space of upper semicontinuous functions

For a Tychonoff space $X$, we will denote by $USC_{p}(X)$ ($B_1(X)$) a set of all real-valued upper semicontinuous functions (a set of all Baire functions of class 1) defined on $X$ endowed with the pointwise convergence topology. In this paper we describe a class of Tychonoff spaces $X$ for which the space $USC_{p}(X)$ is sequentially separable. Unexpectedly, it turns out that this class coincides with the class of spaces for which a stronger form of the sequential separability for the space $B_1(X)$ holds.

On Ramsey properties, function spaces, and topological games

An open question of Gruenhage asks if all strategically selectively separable spaces are Markov selectively separable, a game-theoretic statement known to hold for countable spaces. On strategies for selection games related to countable dimension

Two selection games from the literature, $G_c(\mathcal O,\mathcal O)$ and $G_1(\mathcal O_{zd},\mathcal O)$, are known to characterize countable dimension among certain spaces. This paper studies their perfect- and limited-information strategies, and investigates issues related to non-equivalent characterizations of zero-dimensionality for spaces that are not both separable and metrizable. To relate results on zero-dimensional and finite-dimensional spaces, a generalization of Telgársky's proof that the point-open and finite-open games are equivalent is demonstrated.

Variations of star selection principles on small spaces

In this paper, we introduce the notions of Star-$σ\mathcal{K}$ and absolutely Star-$σ\mathcal{K}$ spaces which allow us to unify results among several properties in the theory of star selection principles on small spaces. Selection properties of the split interval and the Continuum Hypothesis

We prove that every usco multimap $Φ:X\to Y$ from a metrizable separable space $X$ to a GO-space $Y$ has an $F_σ$-measurable selection. Notes on linearly H-closed spaces and od-selection principles

A space is called linearly H-closed iff any chain cover possesses a dense member. This property lies strictly between feeble compactness and H-closedness. Spaces of Real Functions, Covers and Dense Subsets

In paper we study relationships between covering properties of a topological space $X$ and the space $(USC^*(X),τ_{\mathcal{B}})$ of bounded upper semicontinuous functions on $X$ with the topology $τ_{\mathcal{B}}$ defined by the bornology $\mathcal{B}$ on $X$. We present characterizations of various local properties of $(USC^*(X),τ_{\mathcal{B}})$ in terms of selection principles related to bornological covers of $X$. We also investigate topological properties of sequences of upper dense and upper sequentially dense subsets of $(USC^*(X),τ_{\mathcal{B}})$.
