We study the Kondo effect for a $Σ_{c}$ ($Σ_{c}^{\ast}$) baryon in nuclear matter. In terms of the spin and isospin ($\mathrm{SU}(2)_{\mathrm{spin}} \times \mathrm{SU}(2)_{\mathrm{isospin}}$) symmetry, the heavy-quark spin symmetry and the S-wave interaction, we provide the general form of the Lagrangian for a $Σ_{c}$ ($Σ_{c}^{\ast}$) baryon and a nucleon. We analyze the renormalization equation at the one-loop level, and find that the coexistence of spin exchange and isospin exchange magnifies the Kondo effect in comparison with the case where the spin-exchange interaction and the isospin-exchange interaction exist separately. We demonstrate that the solution exists for the ideal sets of the coupling constants, including the $\mathrm{SU}(4)$ symmetry as an extension of the $\mathrm{SU}(2)_{\mathrm{spin}} \times \mathrm{SU}(2)_{\mathrm{isospin}}$ symmetry. We also conduct a similar analysis for the Kondo effect of a $\bar{D}$ ($\bar{D}^{\ast}$) meson in nuclear matter. On the basis of the obtained result, we conjecture that there could exist a "mapping" from the heavy meson (baryon) in vacuum onto the heavy baryon (meson) in nuclear matter.
We discuss the Kondo effect for isospin-exchange interaction between a $\bar{D}$, $B$ meson and a valence nucleon in charm/bottom atomic nuclei including the discrete energy-levels for valence nucleons. To investigate the binding energy by the Kondo effect, we introduce the mean-field approach for the bound state of the $\bar{D}$, $B$ meson in charm/bottom nuclei. Assuming a simple model, we examine the validity of the mean-field approximation by comparing the results with the exact solutions. We also estimate the effect of the quantum fluctuation beyond the mean-field approximation. We discus…
We study the Kondo effect for $\bar{D}_{s}$ and $\bar{D}_{s}^{\ast}$ mesons as impurity particles in nuclear matter. The spin-exchange interaction between the $\bar{D}_{s}$ or $\bar{D}_{s}^{\ast}$ meson and the nucleon induces the enhancement of the effective coupling in the low-energy scattering in the infrared region, whose scale of singularity is given by the Kondo scale. We investigate the Kondo scale in the renormalization group equation at nucleon one-loop level. We furthermore study the ground state with the Kondo effect in the mean-field approach, and present that the Kondo scale is re…
We propose to study the mass spectrum of the heavy-light mesons to probe the structure of the spin-isospin correlation in the nuclear medium. We point out that the spin-isospin correlation in the nuclear medium generates a mixing among the heavy-light mesons carrying different spins and isospins such as $D^+$, $D^0$, $D^{\ast +}$, and $D^{\ast 0}$ mesons. We use two types of correlations motivated by the skyrmion crystal and the chiral density wave as typical examples to obtain the mass splitting caused by the mixing. Our result shows that the structure of the mixing reflects the pattern of th…
An isospin analysis of $B\toππ$ decays yields $\sin 2α$, where $α$ is the usual CKM angle $α\equiv arg [-V_{td}V_{tb}^\ast /(V_{ud}V_{ub}^\ast)]$, without hadronic uncertainty if isospin is a perfect symmetry. Isospin, however, is broken not only by electroweak effects but also by the u and d quark mass difference. The latter generates $π^0-η, η'$ mixing and converts the isospin-perfect triangle relation between the $B\toππ$ amplitudes to a quadrilateral. The combined isospin-violating effects impact the extracted value of $\sin 2α$ in a significant manner, particularly if the latter is small.
Based on mean field calculations with Skyrme interactions, we extract a constraint on the isovector effective mass in nuclear matter at saturation density $ρ_0$, i.e., $m_{v}^{\ast}(ρ_0)=(0.77\pm0.03) m$ by combining the experimental data of the centroid energy of the isovector giant dipole resonance (IVGDR) and the electric dipole polarizability $α_{\mathrm{D}}$ in $^{208}$Pb. Meanwhile, the isoscalar effective mass at $ρ_0$ is determined to be $m_{s}^{\ast}(ρ_0)=(0.91\pm0.05) m$ by analyzing the measured excitation energy of the isoscalar giant quadrupole resonance (ISGQR) in $^{208}$Pb. Fro…
The recent experimental data on $D^{+}-D^{0}$ and $D^{\ast\, +}-D^{\ast\,0}$ mass differences are used as inputs in the QCD sum rules to obtain new estimates on the mass difference of light quarks and on the difference of their condensates: $m_d -m_u =3\pm 1\, MeV$, $\langle\bar{d}d\rangle -\langle\bar{u}u\rangle = -(2.5\pm 1)\cdot 10^{-3}\langle\bar{u}u\rangle$ (at a standard normalization point, $μ= 0.5\, GeV$).
An isospin analysis of $B\to ππ$ decays yields $\sin 2α$, where $α$ is the usual CKM angle $α\equiv {\rm arg} [-V_{td} V_{tb}^\ast/(V_{ud}V_{ub}^\ast)]$ without hadronic uncertainty if isospin is a perfect symmetry. Yet isospin symmetry is broken not only by electroweak effects but also by the $u$ and $d$ quark mass difference --- the latter drives $π^0-η,η'$ mixing and converts the isospin-perfect triangle relation between the $B\to ππ$ amplitudes to a quadrilateral. The error incurred in $\sin 2α$ through the neglect of the resulting isospin-violating effects can be significant, particularly…
Applying the QCD sum-rule machinery in the so-called local-duality shape to heavy-light mesons reveals that, as a consequence of the non-zero mass gap between up and down quarks, the leptonic decay constants of the neutral and charged versions of the $D,$ $D^\ast,$ $B$ and $B^\ast$ mesons differ by approximately 1 MeV.
Isospin-1/2 $Dπ$ scattering amplitudes are computed using lattice QCD, working in a single volume of approximately $(3.6\; \mathrm{fm})^3$ and with a light quark mass corresponding to $m_π\approx239$ MeV. The spectrum of the elastic $Dπ$ energy region is computed yielding 20 energy levels. Using the Lüscher finite-volume quantisation condition, these energies are translated into constraints on the infinite-volume scattering amplitudes and hence enable us to map out the energy dependence of elastic $Dπ$ scattering. By analytically continuing a range of scattering amplitudes, a $D_0^\ast$ resona…
The thermodynamic bag model (tdBag) has been applied widely to model quark matter properties in both heavy-ion and astrophysics communities. Several fundamental physics aspects are missing in tdBag, e.g., dynamical chiral symmetry breaking (D$χ$SB) and repulsions due to the vector interaction are both included explicitly in the novel vBag quark matter model of Klähn and Fischer (2015) (Astrophys. J. 810, 134 (2015)). An important feature of vBag is the simultaneous D$χ$SB and deconfinement, where the latter links vBag to a given hadronic model for the construction of the phase transition. In t…
The pentaquark states, $P_{c}(4312)$, $P_{c}(4440)$ and $P_{c}(4450)$, can be nicely arranged into a multiplet of seven molecules of $\bar{D}^{(\ast)}Σ_{c}^{(\ast)}$ dictated by heavy quark spin symmetry, while the $Ξ_{cc}^{(\ast)}Σ_{c}^{(\ast)}$ system can be related to the $\bar{D}^{(\ast)}Σ_{c}^{(\ast)}$ system via heavy antiquark diquark symmetry. In this work we employ the one boson exchange model to study the interactions between $Ξ_{cc}^{(\ast)}$ and $Σ_{c}^{(\ast)}$ with constraints from the pentaquark system. We show that a multiplet of ten triply charmed dibaryons emerge naturally in…
With quark-antiquark annihilation and creation in the first Born approximation, we study the reactions: $K \bar {K} \to K \bar {K}^\ast, ~K \bar{K} \to K^* \bar{K}, ~πK \to πK^\ast, ~πK \to ρK, ~ππ\to K \bar{K}^\ast, ~ππ\to K^\ast \bar{K}, ~ππ\to K^\ast \bar{K}^\ast, ~πρ\to K \bar{K}, ~πρ\to K^\ast \bar{K}^\ast, ~ρρ\to K^\ast \bar{K}^\ast, ~K \bar{K}^\ast \to ρρ$, and $K^* \bar{K} \to ρρ$. Unpolarized cross sections for the reactions are obtained from transition amplitudes that are composed of mesonic quark-antiquark relative-motion wave functions and the transition potential for quark-antiqua…
The ultimate goal of studying isospin physics via heavy-ion reactions with neutron-rich, stable and/or radioactive nuclei is to explore the isospin dependence of in-medium nuclear effective interactions and the equation of state of neutron-rich nuclear matter, particularly the isospin-dependent term in the equation of state, i.e., the density dependence of the symmetry energy. Because of its great importance for understanding many phenomena in both nuclear physics and astrophysics, the study of the density dependence of the nuclear symmetry energy has been the main focus of the intermediate-en…
We systematically calculate the isospin violating decay, $D_s^*\to D_sπ^0$, with the heavy meson chiral perturbation theory up to $\mathcal{O}(p^3)$ including the loop diagrams. The $\mathcal{O}(p^3)$ tree level amplitudes contain four undetermined LECs. We use two strategies to estimate them. With the nonanalytic dominance approximation, we get $Γ[D_s^\ast\to D_sπ^0]=(3.38\pm0.12)$ eV. With the naturalness assumption, we give a possible range of the isospin violating decay width, $[1.11-6.88]$ eV. We find that the contribution of the $\mathcal{O}(p^3)$ corrections might be significant.
We discuss the mass modifications of $\bar{\mathrm{D}}$ and $\bar{\mathrm{D}}^{\ast}$ ($\mathrm{B}$ and $\mathrm{B}^{\ast}$) mesons in nuclear medium. The heavy quark symmetry for $\bar{\mathrm{D}}$ and $\bar{\mathrm{D}}^{\ast}$ ($\mathrm{B}$ and $\mathrm{B}^{\ast}$) mesons is adopted, and the interaction between a $\bar{\mathrm{D}}$ or $\bar{\mathrm{D}}^{\ast}$ ($\mathrm{B}$ or $\mathrm{B}^{\ast}$) meson and a nucleon is supplied from the pion exchange. We find the negative mass shifts for $\bar{\mathrm{D}}$ meson and $\mathrm{B}$ meson, and hence that the $\bar{\mathrm{D}}$ and $\mathrm{B}$ …

In a molecular scenario, we investigate the isospin-breaking hidden charm decay processes of $X(3872)$, i.e., $X(3872) \to π^+ π^- J/ψ$, $X(3872) \to π^+ π^- π^0 J/ψ$, and $X(3872)\to π^0χ_{cJ}$. We assume that the source of the strong isospin violation comes from the different coupling strengths of $X(3872)$ to its charged components $D^{\ast +} D^-$ and neutral components $D^{\ast 0 } \bar{D}^0$ as well as the interference between the charged meson loops and neutral meson loops. The former effect could fix our parameters by using the measurement of the ratio $Γ[X(3872) \to π^+ π^- π^0 J/ψ]/Γ…
Scalar tetraquark states are studied within the diquark-antidiquark picture in a non-relativistic approach. We consider two types of confining potentials, a quadratic and a linear one, to which we also add spin-spin, isospin-isospin, and spin-isospin interactions. We calculate the masses of the scalar diquarks and of the ground-state open and hidden charmed and bottom scalar tetraquarks. Our results indicate that the scalar resonances $D_{0}^{\ast}(2400)$ and $D_{s}(2632)$ have a sizable tetraquark amount in their wave function, while, on the other hand, it turns out that the scalar states $D_…
We calculate the effects of finite density of isospin asymmetric strange hadronic matter, for different strangeness fractions, on the in-medium properties of vector $\left( D^{\ast}, D_{s}^{\ast}, B^{\ast}, B_{s}^{\ast}\right)$ and axial-vector $\left( D_{1}, D_{1s}, B_{1}, B_{1s}\right)$ mesons using chiral hadronic SU(3) model and QCD sum rules. We focus on the evaluation of in-medium mass-shift and shift of decay constant of above vector and axial vector mesons. In QCD sum rule approach the properties e.g. masses and decay constants of vector and axial vector mesons are written in terms of …

The symmetry energy characterizes the isospin dependent part of the equation of state of isospin asymmetric strong interaction matter and it plays a critical role in many issues of nuclear physics and astrophysics. In this talk, we briefly review the current status on the determination of the symmetry energy in nucleon (nuclear) and quark matter. For nuclear matter, while the subsaturation density behaviors of the symmetry energy are relatively well-determined and significant progress has been made on the symmetry energy around saturation density, the determination of the suprasaturation densi…
A recent suggestion [PLB 774 (2017) 522] that purely-$Λ^{\ast}(1405)$ nuclei provide the absolute minimum energy in charge-neutral baryon matter for baryon-number $A\gtrsim 8$, is tested within RMF calculations. A broad range of $Λ^{\ast}$ interaction strengths, commensurate with $(\bar K \bar K NN)_{I=0}$ binding energy assumed to be of order 100 MeV, is scanned. It is found that the binding energy per $Λ^{\ast}$, $B/A$, saturates for $A\gtrsim 120$ with values of $B/A$ considerably below 100 MeV, implying that $Λ^{\ast}(1405)$ matter is highly unstable against strong decay to $Λ$ and $Σ$ hyp…
We study two kinds of inelastic meson-meson scattering. The first kind is inelastic 2-to-2 meson-meson scattering that is governed by quark interchange as well as quark-antiquark annihilation and creation. Cross-section formulas are provided to get unpolarized cross sections for $πK \to ρK^\ast$ for $I=1/2$, $πK^\ast \to ρK$ for $I=1/2$, $πK^\ast \to ρK^\ast$ for $I=1/2$, and $ρK \to ρK^\ast$ for $I=1/2$. Near threshold, quark interchange dominates the reactions near the critical temperature. The second kind is 2-to-1 meson-meson scattering with the process that a quark in an initial meson and…
We deliver an exploratory lattice QCD examination of the $K^\ast(892)$ meson decay width with the help of the p-wave scattering phase $δ_1$ of pion-kaon ($πK$) system in the isospin $I=1/2$ channel, which are extracted by the modified Rummukainen-Gottlieb formula for two-particle system with arbitrary mass, and it clearly reveals the entity of a resonance at a mass around $K^\ast(892)$ meson mass. The effective range formula is applied to describe the energy dependence of the scattering phase and we obtain the effective $K^\ast \to πK$ coupling constant as $g_{K^\ast πK} = 6.38(78)$, and subse…
In order to understand the structure of the X(3872), the $c \bar c$ charmonium core state coupling to the $D^0 \bar D^{\ast 0}$ and $D^+ D^{\ast -}$ molecular states are studied. The strengths of the couplings between the charmonium state and the hadronic molecular states are determined so as to reproduce the observed mass of the the X(3872). The isospin symmetry breaking is introduced by the mass differences of the neutral and charged $D$ mesons. The obtained structure of the X(3872) is that about 7% is $\ccbar$ charmonium, 75% is the isoscalar $D \bar D^\ast$ molecule and 18% is the isovecto…
Heavy Ion Collisions (HIC) represent a unique tool to probe the in-medium nuclear interaction in regions away from saturation. In this report we present a selection of new reaction observables in dissipative collisions particularly sensitive to the symmetry term of the nuclear Equation of State ($Iso-EoS$). We will first discuss the Isospin Equilibration Dynamics. At low energies this manifests via the recently observed Dynamical Dipole Radiation, due to a collective neutron-proton oscillation with the symmetry term acting as a restoring force. At higher beam energies Iso-EoS effects will be s…
The by now well-established scalar-isoscalar resonance $f_{0}(500)$ (the $σ$ meson) seems potentially relevant in the evaluation of thermodynamic quantities of a hadronic gas, since its mass is low. However, we recall that its contribution to isospin-averaged observables is, to a surprising accuracy, canceled by the repulsion from the pion-pion scalar-isotensor channel. As a result, in practice one should not incorporate $f_0(500)$ in standard hadronic resonance-gas models for studies of isospin averaged quantities. In our analysis we use the formalism of the virial expansion, which allows one…
The $D^{(\ast)}Ξ_{cc}^{(\ast)}$ system and $\barΞ_{cc}^{(\ast)}Ξ_{cc}^{(\ast)}$ system can be related to the $D^{(\ast)}\bar{D}^{(\ast)}$ system via heavy anti-quark di-quark symmetry (HADS). In this work, we employ a contact-range effective field theory to systematically investigate the likely existence of molecules in these systems in terms of the hypothesis that X(3872) is a $1^{++}$~$D\bar{D}^{\ast}$ bound state in the isospin symmetry limit, with some of the unknown low energy constants estimated using the light-meson saturation approximation. In the meson-meson system, a $J^{PC}=2^{++}$~…
Using a nonrelativistic constituent quark model in which the degrees of freedom are quark-antiquark and meson-meson components, we have recently shown that the $D^{(\ast)}K$ thresholds play an important role in lowering the mass of the physical $D_{s0}^{\ast}(2317)$ and $D_{s1}(2460)$ states. This observation is also supported by other theoretical approaches such as lattice-regularised QCD or chiral unitary theory in coupled channels. Herein, we extend our computation to the lowest $P$-wave $B_{s}$ mesons, taking into account the corresponding $J^{P} = 0^{+}$, $1^{+}$ and $2^{+}$ bottom-strang…
The three pentaquark states, $P_c(4312)$, $P_c(4440)$ and $P_c(4457)$, discovered by the LHCb Collaboration in 2019, can be arranged into a complete heavy quark spin symmetry multiplet of hadronic molecules of $\bar{D}^{(\ast)}Σ_{c}^{(\ast)}$. In the heavy quark mass limit, the $Σ_{c}^{(\ast)}$ baryons can be related to the doubly charmed tetraquark states of isospin 1, i.e., $T_{\bar{c}\bar{c}}^{(\ast)}$( $T_{\bar{c}\bar{c}}^{0}$, $T_{\bar{c}\bar{c}}^{1}$, $T_{\bar{c}\bar{c}}^{2}$), via heavy antiquark diquark symmetry, which dictates that the $\bar{D}^{(\ast)}Σ_{c}^{(\ast)}$ interactions are…
The P-wave charm-strange mesons $D_{s0}(2317)$ and $D_{s1}(2460)$ lie below the $DK$ and $D^\ast K$ threshold respectively. They are extremely narrow because their strong decays violate the isospin symmetry. We study the possible heavy molecular states composed of a pair of excited charm strange mesons. As a byproduct, we also present the numerical results for the bottonium-like analogue.
We study four quasi-two-body decay processes including $D^\ast_0(2400)$ as the intermediate state in perturbative QCD (PQCD) approach. The branching fraction predicted in this work for the decay mode $B^-\to D^{*}_0(2400)^0π^-\to D^+π^-π^-$ agree with the data from Belle, BaBar and LHCb Collaborations. The PQCD prediction of the branching ratio for the decay $\bar B^0\to D^{*+}_0K^-\to D^0π^+K^-$ is consistent with the value given by LHCb. For the decays $\bar B^0\to D^{*+}_0π^-\to D^0π^+π^-$ and $B^-\to D^{*0}_0K^-\to D^+π^-K^-$, the PQCD predicted branch ratios are $2.85^{+1.23}_{-0.80}(ω_B)…
Within an isospin- and momentum-dependent hadronic transport model it is shown that the recent FOPI data on the $π^-/π^+$ ratio in central heavy-ion collisions at SIS/GSI energies (Willy Reisdorf {\it et al.}, NPA {\bf 781}, 459 (2007)) provide circumstantial evidence suggesting a rather soft nuclear symmetry energy \esym at $ρ\geq 2ρ_0$ compared to the Akmal-Pandharipande-Ravenhall prediction. Some astrophysical implications and the need for further experimental confirmations are discussed.
