On a Lie algebraic structure associated with a non-linear dynamical system

Algebraic Anosov actions of Nilpotent Lie groups

In this paper we classify algebraic Anosov actions of nilpotent Lie groups on closed manifolds, extending the previous results by P. Tomter. We show that they are all nil-suspensions over either suspensions of Anosov actions of Z^k on nilmanifolds, or (modified) Weyl chamber actions. We check the validity of the generalized Verjovsky conjecture in this algebraic context. We also point out an intimate relation between algebraic Anosov actions and Cartan subalgebras in general real Lie groups.

Invariant algebraic curves for Liénard dynamical systems revisited

A novel algebraic method for finding invariant algebraic curves for a polynomial vector field in $\mathbb{C}^2$ is introduced. The structure of irreducible invariant algebraic curves for Liénard dynamical systems $x_t=y$, $y_t=-g(x)y-f(x)$ with $\text{deg} f=\text{deg} g+1$ is obtained. It is shown that there exist Liénard systems that possess more complicated invariant algebraic curves than it was supposed before. As an example, all irreducible invariant algebraic curves for the Liénard differential system with $\text{deg} f=3$, $\text{deg} g=2$ are obtained. All these results seem to be new.

Anosov Lie algebras and algebraic units in number fields

We study nilmanifolds admitting Anosov automorphisms by applying elementary properties of algebraic units in number fields to the associated Anosov Lie algebras. We identify obstructions to the existence of Anosov Lie algebras. The case of 13-dimensional Anosov Lie algebras is worked out as an illustration of the technique. Also, we recapture the following known results: (i) Every 7-dimensional Anosov nilmanifold is toral, and (ii) every 8-dimensional Anosov Lie algebra with 3 or 5-dimensional derived algebra contains an abelian factor.

Recoding Lie algebraic subshifts

We study internal Lie algebras in the category of subshifts on a fixed group -- or Lie algebraic subshifts for short. We show that if the acting group is virtually polycyclic and the underlying vector space has dense homoclinic points, such subshifts can be recoded to have a cellwise Lie bracket. On the other hand there exist Lie algebraic subshifts (on any finitely-generated non-torsion group) with cellwise vector space operations whose bracket cannot be recoded to be cellwise. Algorithmic reduction of Poincare'-Dulac normal forms and Lie algebraic structure

The Poincare'-Dulac normal form of a given resonant system is in general non unique; given a specific normal form, one would like to further reduce it to a simplest normal form. In this note we give an algorithm, based on the Lie algebraic structure of the set of normal forms, to obtain this. The algorithm can be applied under some condition, non generic but often met in applications; when applicable, it only requires to solve linear equations, and is more powerful than the one proposed in previous work by the same author [Lett. Math. Phys. 42, 103-114; and Ann. I.H.P. 70, 461-514].
