In this paper, we prove that the quasi-projective base of any maximally variational smooth family of Calabi-Yau klt pairs is both of log general type, and pseudo Kobayashi hyperbolic. Moreover, such a base is Brody hyperbolic if the family is effectively parametrized.

In this paper, we prove the Kobayashi hyperbolicity of the coarse moduli spaces of canonically polarized or polarized Calabi-Yau manifolds in the sense of complex $V$-spaces (a generalization of complex $V$-manifolds in the sense of Satake). The moduli stacks of Calabi-Yau varieties are known to enjoy several hyperbolicity properties. The best results have so far been proven using sophisticated analytic tools such as complex Hodge theory. We discuss Calabi-Yau and fractional Calabi-Yau semiorthogonal components of derived categories of coherent sheaves on smooth projective varieties. The main result is a general construction of a fractional Calabi-Yau category from a rectangular Lefschetz decomposition and a spherical functor. We give many examples of application of this construction and discuss some general properties of Calabi-Yau categories.
In this paper, we study the analogue of the Shafarevich conjecture for polarized Calabi-Yau varieties. We use variations of Hodge structures and Higgs bundles to establish a criterion for the {\it rigidity} of families. We then apply the criterion to obtain that some important and typical families of Calabi-Yau varieties are rigid, for examples., Lefschetz pencils of Calabi-Yau varieties, {\it strongly degenerated} families (not only for families of Calabi-Yau varieties), families of Calabi-Yau varieties admitting a degeneration with {\it maximal unipotent monodromy}.
A compact complex manifold is Kobayashi non-hyperbolic if there exists an entire curve on it. Using mirror symmetry we establish that there are (possibly singular) elliptic or rational curves on any Calabi-Yau manifold $X$, whose mirror dual $\check X$ exists and is not "Hodge degenerate", therefore proving that $X$ is Kobayashi non-hyperbolic. We are not aware of any higher dimensional simply connected Calabi-Yau manifolds that satisfy the "Hodge degenerate" condition.

In this note we construct conifold transitions between several Calabi-Yau threefolds given by Pfaffians in weighted projective spaces and Calabi-Yau threefolds appearing as complete intersections in toric varieties. We use the obtained results to predict mirrors following ideas of \cite{BCKS, Batsmalltoricdegen}. In particular we consider the family of Calabi--Yau threefolds of degree 25 in $\mathbb{P}^9$ obtained as a transverse intersection of two Grassmannians in their Plucker embeddings.
