The production of a Higgs boson in association with at least two jets receives contributions both from the fusion of weak vector bosons (VBF) and from QCD processes, especially gluon fusion (GF). The former process is important for measuring the coupling of the Higgs boson to weak bosons, whereas the latter process plays an important role in determining any $CP$-admixtures in the Higgs sector. In this paper we go beyond the current state-of-the-art for fixed order calculations of the GF process (i.e. one loop $H+2j$ including full quark mass effects) by including the all-order effects in leading $\log(\hat s/p_t^2)$, together with full quark mass and loop-propagator kinematic effects. We calculate the mass-dependent components and implement the resummation within the framework of High Energy Jets.
The high energy effects suppress the prediction compared to fixed order at large $Δy_{12}$ and $m_{jj}$ (and therefore within the usual VBF cuts of widely separated jets), just as found in the limit of $m_t\to \infty$. The mass dependence is more significant than at fixed order, because the systematic inclusion of the leading logarithms in $\hat s/p_t^2$ results in a hardening of the transverse momentum of the Higgs boson, which in turn probes in more detail the loop-structure of the coupling. In particular, the full mass dependence reduces the cross section within VBF cuts by 11\% compared to a calculation based just on the infinite top mass limit, but the impact of the bottom quark remains small. This all implies that the gluon-fusion contribution within VBF-cuts is less severe than current estimates suggest.
We evaluate Higgs boson and dijet cross-sections at the Tevatron collider via Double Pomeron exchange when accompanying particles in the central region are taken into account. Such {\it inclusive} processes, normalized to the observed dijet rate observed at run I, noticeably increase the predictions for tagged (anti)protons in the run II with respect to {\it exclusive} ones, with the potentiality of Higgs boson detection.
We quantify the rate of double diffractive Higgs/dijet production at $pp$ (or $p\bar{p}$) colliders. The suppression due to QCD bremsstrahlung is calculated perturbatively up to single $\log$ accuracy. The survival probability of the rapidity gaps is discussed. A first comparison with experiment is made.
We use as a starting point the original, central inclusive Bialas-Landshoff model for Higgs and dijet production by a double pomeron exchange in pp collisions. Next we propose the simple extension of this model to the exclusive processes. We find the extended model to be consistent with the CDF Run I, II upper limits for double diffractive exclusive dijet production. The predictions for the exclusive Higgs boson production cross sections at the Tevatron and the LHC energies are also presented.
We discuss exclusive central production of Higgs boson, quark-antiquark and digluon dijets. Several differential distributions are shown and disussed. Irreducible leading-order $b \bar b $ background to Higgs production is calculated in several kinematical variables. The signal-to-background ratio is shown and several improvements are suggested by imposing cuts on $b$ ($\bar b$) transverse momenta and rapidities. \
At lowest order in perturbation theory, the production of a Higgs boson in association with dijets displays a strong correlation in the azimuthal angle between the dijets, induced by the CP-properties of the Higgs Boson coupling. However, the phase space cuts necessary for a clean extraction of the CP-properties in the gluon fusion channel simultaneously induce large corrections from emissions of hard radiation and thus formation of additional jets. This contribution discusses how the CP-properties of the Higgs boson coupling can be cleanly extracted from events with more than two jets, based …
The Littest Higgs model with T-parity (LHT), apart from offering a viable solution to the naturalness problem of the Standard Model, also predicts a set of new fermions as well as a candidate for dark matter. We explore the possibility of discovering the heavy T-odd quark Q_H at the LHC in a final state comprising two hard jets with a large missing transverse momentum. Also discussed is the role of heavy flavor tagging.
Exclusive dijet production at the Tevatron can be used as a benchmark to establish predictions on exclusive diffractive Higgs production, a process with a much smaller cross section. Exclusive dijet production in Double Pomeron Exchange processes, including diffractive Higgs production with measurements at the Tevatron and predictions for the Large Hadron Collider are presented. Using new data from the Tevatron and dedicated diffractive triggers, no excess over a smooth falling distribution for exclusive dijet events could be found. Upper limits on the exclusive dijet production cross section …
Diffractive production of the Higgs boson at hadron colliders is discussed in the light of the observed rate of hard diffractive dijet events at the Tevatron. The Higgs predictions of models successful for dijets are compared. LHC seems promising for a diffractive light Higgs boson and its mass determination. Hard diffractive dijets, diphotons and dileptons at the Tevatron (Run II) will be necessary to remove the remaining large uncertainties on cross-sections and signals.
We consider the central exclusive production of $q\bar{q}$ pairs and Higgs boson at proton-proton collisions at LHC. The amplitude for the process is derived within the $k_{\perp}$-factorization approach and considered in different kinematical asymptotics, in particular, in the important high quark transverse momenta and massless quark limits. Quark helicity and spin-projection amplitudes in two different frames are shown in extenso. Rapidity distributions, quark jet $p_{\perp}$ distributions, invariant $q\bar{q}$ mass distributions, angular azimuthal correlations between outgoing protons and …
We discuss exclusive central production of Higgs boson, quark-antiquark and digluon dijets. Some differential distributions are shown and disussed. Irreducible leading-order $b \bar b $ background to Higgs production is calculated. The signal-to-background ratio is shown and improvements are suggested by imposing cuts on $b$ ($\bar b$) transverse momenta and rapidities. We disuss also gluonic dijet production. Here we use rather reggeon-reggeon-gluon vertices. We discuss briefly also a new mechanism of emission of gluons from different $t$-channel gluons (reggeons). The latter contribution tur…
The gluon fusion component of Higgs-boson production in association with dijets is of particular interest because it both (a) allows for a study of the CP-structure of the Higgs-boson couplings to gluons, and (b) provides a background to the otherwise clean study of Higgs-boson production through vector-boson fusion. The degree to which this background can be controlled, and the CP-structure of the gluon-Higgs coupling extracted, both depend on the successful description of the perturbative corrections to the gluon-fusion process. High Energy Jets (HEJ) provides all-order, perturbative predict…
The contributions of $G'$-boson predicted by the chiral color symmetry of quarks to the differential dijet cross-sections in $pp$-collisions at the LHC are calculated and analysed in dependence on two free parameters of the model, the $G'$ mass $m_{G'}$ and mixing angle $θ_G$. The exclusion and consistency $m_{G'}-θ_G$ regions imposed by the ATLAS and CMS data on dijet cross-sections are found. Using the CT10 (MSTW~2008) PDF set we show that the $G'$-boson for $θ_G=45^{\circ}$, i.e. the axigluon, with the masses $m_{G'} < 2.3 \,\, (2.6) \,\, \mbox{TeV}$ and $m_{G'} < 3.35 \,\, (3.25) \,\, \mbo…
The newly found \cite{CDFnew} dijet peak in the 120 GeV to 160 GeV mass region produced in co-production with W IS actually a Higgs Boson in spite of the expectation of a different decay pattern for most Higgses. Our point, however, is that the bound state of 6t + 6$\bar{t}$, which we have put forward already in several articles \cite{boundfirst}\cite{bound} \cite{dark}\cite{hierarchybound}, easily could be lighter - possibly much lighter - than half the Higgs mass. Higgs would in this case decay dominantly to two of our bound states. If these bound states were indeed very light (say around 10…
We present a calculation of interference effects in Hjj production via gluon fusion and via vector boson fusion, respectively, beyond tree level. We reproduce results recently discussed in the literature, but go beyond this calculation by including a class of diagrams not considered previously. Special care is taken in developing a numerically stable and flexible parton level Monte-Carlo program which allows us to study cross sections and kinematic distributions within experimentally relevant selection cuts. Loop-induced interference contributions are found to exhibit kinematical distributions…
Several important processes and analyses at the LHC are sensitive to higher-order perturbative corrections beyond what can currently be calculated at fixed order. The formalism of High Energy Jets (HEJ) calculates the corrections systematically enhanced for a large ratio of the centre-of-mass energy to the transverse momentum of the observed jets. These effects are relevant in the analysis of e.g. Higgs-boson production in association with dijets within the cuts devised to enhance the contribution from Vector Boson Fusion (VBF). HEJ obtains an all-order approximation, based on logarithmic corr…
In the absence of a concrete discovery of new physics at the LHC, global analyses of the standard model effective field theory (SMEFT) are important to find and describe the impact of new physics beyond the energy reach of the LHC. Among the SMEFT operators that can be constrained via various measurements, the dimension six triple gluon operator involves neither the Higgs boson nor the top quark, yet its variation can have measurable effects on top and Higgs production. Without independent constraints on its impact, the sensitivity of measurements in the top and Higgs sectors to new physics is…
Future electron-positron colliders will play a leading role in the precision measurement of Higgs boson couplings which is one of the central interests in particle physics. Aiming at maximizing the performance to measure the Higgs couplings to the bottom, charm and strange quarks, we develop machine learning methods to improve the selection of events with a Higgs decaying to dijets. Our methods are based on the Boosted Decision Tree (BDT), Fully-Connected Neural Network (FCNN) and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). We find that the BDT and FCNN-based algorithms outperform the conventional cut…
Central diffractive production of heavy states (massive dijets, Higgs boson) is studied in the exclusive mode using a new Hybrid Pomeron Model (HPM). Built from Hybrid Pomerons defined by the combination of one hard and one soft color exchanges, the model describes well the centrally produced diffractive dijet data at the Tevatron. Predictions for the Higgs boson and dijet exclusive production at the LHC are presented.
New results from the CDF Collaboration on the invariant mass distribution of dijet events observed at the Tevatron are used to constrain the masses and couplings of new gauge bosons ($W'$ and $Z'$) as well as fundamental diquarks which can occur in some extended electroweak models. In the case of new gauge bosons, these new bounds are then compared to existing limits which arise from searches for the leptonic decay modes of these particles at the Tevatron.
In this paper, we address the observability of four-jet signatures from light neutral and charged Higgs bosons at LEP2 energies in the framework of 2-Higgs Doublet Models (2HDMs). The main signal production channels are via $e^+ e^- \to Ah$ and $H^+ H^-$ with subsequent quark decays of such final states into four-jets. Specifically, Type-I and -III realizations of a generic 2HDM (2HDM-I and -III, respectively) are adopted to show that there exist points (under the assumption that the heavy Higgs state $H$ is SM-like) for which $(m_h, m_A, m_{H^\pm}) \approx (80, 30, 55)$ GeV that can yield obs…
With this note we would like to draw attention to a possible novel signal of new physics in dijet data at the hadron colliders. Usually it is accepted that all exotic models predict that these two jets populate the central (pseudo)rapidity region where y_{1,2} ~ 0. Contrary, the excited bosons do not contribute into this region, but produce an excess of dijet events over the almost flat QCD background in chi = exp|y_1-y_2| away from this region.
At lowest order in perturbation theory, the scattering matrix element for Higgs boson production in association with dijets displays a strong correlation in the azimuthal angle between the dijets, induced by the CP-properties of the Higgs Boson coupling. However, the phase space cuts necessary for a clean extraction of the CP-properties simultaneously induce large corrections from emissions of hard radiation and thus formation of extra jets. The current study concerns the generalization of CP-studies using the azimuthal angle between dijets beyond tree-level and to events with more than just t…
The production in hadron-hadron collisions of jet pairs with large rapidity separation and comparable modest transverse momentum is, in principle, described by the perturbative QCD BFKL equation. The measurement of such jet pairs appears well suited to the LHC detectors, with their ability to detect forward jets. We present predictions for dijet cross sections and correlations obtained using a BFKL Monte Carlo which allows kinematic and other subleading effects to be incorporated. The enhanced phase space for gluon emission at the LHC makes the BFKL behavior somewhat easier to observe than at …
We study hypothetical gauge bosons that may produce dijet resonances at the LHC. Simple renormalizable models include leptophobic Z' bosons or colorons that have flavor-independent couplings and decay into a color-singlet or -octet quark-antiquark pair, respectively. We present the experimental results on dijet resonances at hadron colliders as limits in the coupling-versus-mass plane of a gauge boson associated with baryon number. This theoretical framework facilitates a direct comparison of dijet resonance searches performed at different center-of-mass energies or at different colliders.
In the prospect of diffractive Higgs production at the LHC collider, we give an extensive study of Higgs boson, dijet, diphoton and dilepton production at hadronic colliders via diffraction at both hadron vertices. Our model, based on non factorizable Pomeron exchange, describes well the observed dijet rate observed at Tevatron Run I. Taking the absolute normalization from data, our predictions are given for diffractive processes at Tevatron and LHC. Stringent tests of our model and of its parameters using data being taken now at Tevatron Run II are suggested. These measurements will also allo…
We calculate the rapidity gap survival probability associated with the Higgs decay and Higgs plus dijet production in proton-proton collisions by resumming the leading non-global logarithms without any approximation to the number of colors. For dijet production, depending on partonic subprocesses, the probability involves various `color multipoles', i.e., the product of 4 ($qq\to qq$) or 6 ($qg\to qg$) or 8 ($gg\to gg$) Wilson lines. We calculate all these multipoles for a fixed dijet configuration and discuss the factorization of higher multipoles into lower multipoles as well as the validity…
We adopt a bottom-up approach to constructing a new physics model to explain the CDF excess seen in dijets with an associated lepton and missing transverse energy. We find that the 145 GeV broad feature seen by CDF in the dijet invariant mass distribution can be explained by a Z' boson with a mass of 145 GeV that couples only to first generation quarks. After dijet resonance constraints are considered, a sizeable region of the parameter space favored by the CDF anomaly remains viable.
We tune the calculation of central exclusive Higgs production to the recent CDF central exclusive dijet data, and predict the cross section for the exclusive production of Higgs boson at the LHC. It is always below 1 fb, and below 0.3 fb after experimental cuts.
In view of the recent diffractive dijet data from CDF run II, we critically re-evaluate the standard approach to the calculation of central production of dijets in quasi-elastic hadronic collisions. We find that the process is dominated by the non-perturbative region, and that even perturbative ingredients, such as the Sudakov form factor, are not under theoretical control. Comparison with data allows us to fix some of the uncertainties. Although we focus on dijets, our arguments apply to other high-mass central systems, such as the Higgs boson.
Experimental results in diffractive processes are summarized and a few notable characteristics described in terms of Quantum Chromodynamics. Exclusive dijet production is used to establish a benchmark for future experiments in the quest for diffractive Higgs production at the Large Hadron Collider. Using new data from the Tevatron and dedicated diffractive triggers, no excess over a smooth falling distribution for exclusive dijet events could be found. Stringent upper limits on the exclusive dijet production cross section are presented. The quark/gluon composition of dijet final states is used…
Recently, the CDF collaboration reports an anomaly in dijet mass distribution in association with a lepton and missing energy. We discuss a possibility that the origin of the lepton and missing energy comes not from a W boson but a new boson particle, which is also responsible for the dijet mass peak. We show that such a situation can be realized in the framework of the minimal supersymmetric standard model and the dijet anomaly can be explained.
We show that the Higgs boson's effective couplings to gluons and to weak vector bosons can be extracted simultaneously from an analysis of Higgs plus dijet events by studying the dependence of the observed cross-section upon a third-jet veto.
Little Higgs models with $T$-parity provide a stable neutral particle $A_H$, the lightest $T$-odd particle (LTP), which was recently proposed to explain the cold dark matter of the Universe. In the coannihilation region of the LTP with the Little Higgs partner of the light quark $Q_H$, we propose novel signatures for its detection at hadronic colliders by searching for monojet and dijet plus missing energy events due to the associated production of $Q_H A_H$ and direct production of $Q_H \bar{Q}_H$, respectively. Using the most recent WMAP data, we show that the coupling of $A_H$-$Q_H$-$q$ is …
CDF recently reported an anomaly in the $m_{jj}$ distribution of dijet events produced in association with a $W$ boson. If this anomaly is associated with a new flavor conserving vector resonance, $V$, one might have expected to observe effects in the analogous $m_{jj}$ distribution produced in association with a $γ$. No such excess is observed. A single $u-t-V$ flavor changing coupling, however, can contribute to the $m_{jj}$ anomaly while being consistent with other resonance searches. Furthermore, it gives a potential explanation of the observed forward-backward asymmetry in top quark produ…
Dijet production with a rapidity gap between the jets is considered as a test ground for the production of a heavy Higgs boson via weak-boson fusion at hadron supercolliders. It is argued that in order to perform a detailed analysis of dijet production with a rapidity gap we need an ${\cal O}(\al_s^4)$ calculation including the relevant collinear enhancements which give structure to the jets. Such a calculation needs not be exact, but must include the full leading power in $\hat{s}/\hat{t}$ of the rate of dijet production in the high-energy limit. The QCD amplitudes must be determined to the c…
We discuss the recent excess seen by the CDF Collaboration in the dijet invariant mass distribution produced in association with a $W$ boson. We analyze the possibility of such a signal within the context of a $U(1)_X$ Stueckelberg extension of the Standard Model where the new gauge boson couples only to quarks. In addition to the analysis of the $Wjj$ anomaly we also discuss the production of $Zjj$ and $γjj$ at the Tevatron. The analysis is then extended to the Large Hadron Collider with $\sqrt{s}=7 {\rm TeV}$ and predictions for the dijet signals are made.
The LHC has started to explore the TeV energy regime, probing the SM beyond LEP and Tevatron. We show how the dijet measurements at the LHC are able to test certain sectors of the SM at an unprecedented level. We provide the best bounds on all possible four-quark interactions and translate them into limits on the compositeness scale of the quarks and gluons. We also provide constraints on extra gauge bosons, Z', W' and G', and on new interactions proposed to explain the present measurement of the forward-backward asymmetry of the top.
A color-singlet neutral vector boson is considered as a possible common origin of the top forward-backward asymmetry and the CDF dijet resonance. We identify chiral and flavor structures of the couplings of this new vector boson to the standard model quarks for which one could accommodate both data. We also demonstrate that non-vanishing observables involving longitudinal top polarizations can provide useful criteria for the possible existence of parity violating new physics in the q q^bar -> t t^bar process, and discrimination between the flavor-conserving and flavor-violating cases.
We consider central exclusive production of $gg$ dijets in proton-proton (proton-antiproton) collisions at LHC and Tevatron for different intermediate and final gluon polarisations. The amplitude for the process is derived within the $k_\perp$-factorization approach (with both the standard QCD and the Lipatov's effective three-gluon verticies) and is considered in various kinematical asymptotia, in particular, in the important limit of high-$p_\perp$ jets. Compared to earlier works we include emissions of gluons from different gluonic $t$-channel lines as well as emission of quark-antiquark di…
A Monte Carlo study of the azimuthal angular distribution around the virtual boson-proton beam axis for dijet events in DIS at HERA is presented. In the presence of typical acceptance cuts on the jets in the laboratory frame, the azimuthal distribution is dominated by kinematic effects rather than the typical $\cosϕ$ and $\cos 2ϕ$ dependence predicted by the QCD matrix elements. This implies that the $ϕ$ dependent part of the QCD matrix elements contributes even to the dijet production cross section. Neglecting this $ϕ$ dependence leads to an error of about 5-8\% in the production cross sectio…
We report measurements of hard diffractive processes performed by the CDF collaboration in proton-antiproton collisions at the Fermilab Tevatron collider at $\sqrt{s}$=1960 GeV. The characteristics of the diffractive structure function from diffractive dijet production studies are presented. The results of exclusive dijet production in double pomeron exchange are discussed in the context of exclusive Higgs production at the LHC.
We present an analysis of new physics searches in $Z\,h$ with missing energy final states at the Large Hadron Collider considering $Z \to l^+ l^-$ (where $l^\pm = e^\pm, μ^\pm$) and $h \to b\bar b$ decay modes. For this analysis we consider production of a $CP$-odd scalar $A$ through gluon-fusion which decay into a heavy $CP$-even neutral scalar $H$ with $Z$-boson. Further $H$ decays into a lighter $CP$-even Higgs boson $h$ in association with dark matter candidate $χ$ - a source of missing energy. The masses of these scalars are considered as $m_h = 125$ GeV, $m_χ= 60$ GeV, $2 m_h < m_H < 2 m…
The excess events reported by the ATLAS Collaboration in the $WZ$-final state, and by the CMS Collaboration in the $e^+\!e^- jj$, $Wh$ and $jj$-final states, may be induced by the decays of a heavy boson $W'$ in the 1.8-2 TeV mass range, here modelled via the larger local group $SU(2)_L\times SU(2)_R\times U(1)_{B-L}$ in a non-linear dynamical Higgs scenario. The $W'$-production cross section at the 13 TeV LHC is around 700-1200 fb. This framework also predicts a heavy $Z'$ boson with a mass of 2.5-4 TeV, and some decay channels testable in the LHC Run II. We determine the cross section times …
Color-singlet and color-octet vector bosons predicted in theories beyond the Standard Model have the potential to be discovered as dijet resonances at the LHC. A color-singlet resonance that has leptophobic couplings needs further investigation to be distinguished from a color-octet one. In previous work, we introduced a method for discriminating between the two kinds of resonances when their couplings are flavor-universal, using measurements of the dijet resonance mass, total decay width and production cross-section. Here, we describe two extensions of that work. First, we broaden the method …
In this review phenomenological consequences of the Standard Model extension by means of new spin-1 chiral fields with the internal quantum numbers of the electroweak Higgs doublets are summarized. The prospects for resonance production and detection of the chiral vector $Z^*$ and $W^{*\pm}$ bosons at the LHC energies are considered. The $Z^*$ boson can be observed as a Breit-Wigner resonance peak in the invariant dilepton mass distributions in the same way as the well-known extra gauge $Z'$ bosons. However, the $Z^*$ bosons have unique signatures in transverse momentum, angular and pseudorapi…
Contrary to common perceptions about systems produced in Single-Pomeron-Exchange (SPE) pp interactions, the hard diffractive process discovered at the CERN SPS-Collider leads to dominant central production of Higgs bosons at the LHC. The rate for SPE production of Higgs bosons is calculated to be 7-9 % of the total inclusive Higgs rate. In addition, an SPE measurement program of dijet events is outlined for the early days of LHC running which should answer many fundamental questions about the Pomeron structure and its effective flux factor in the proton.
We present model-independent estimates of the signal-to-background ratio for Higgs --> b anti-b detection in double-diffractive events at the Tevatron and the LHC. For the missing-mass approach to be able to identify the Higgs boson, it will be necessary to tag the b quark jets in the central region. The signal is predicted to be very small at the Tevatron, but observable at the LHC. We note that the double-diffractive dijet production, may serve as a unique gluon factory. This process can be used also as a Pomeron-Pomeron luminosity monitor.
In this paper we consider a simple scenario where the Higgs boson and two vector resonances are supposed to arise from a new strong interacting sector. We use the ATLAS measurements of the dijet spectrum to set limits on the masses of the resonances. Additionally we compute the Higgs boson decay to two photons and found, when compare to the Standard Model prediction, a small excess which is compatible with ATLAS measurements. Finally we make prediction for Higgs-strahlung processes for the LHC running at 14 TeV.
In this study of the Inert Doublet Model (IDM), we propose that the dijet + missing transverse energy channel at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) will be an effective way of searching for the scalar particles of the IDM. This channel receives contributions from gauge boson fusion, and $t-$channel production, along with contributions from $H^+$ associated production. We perform the analysis including study of the Standard Model (SM) background with assumed systematic uncertainty, and optimise the selection criteria employing suitable cuts on the kinematic variables to maximise the signal signifi…
We discuss central exclusive production of $W^+W^-$ pairs in proton-proton collisions at LHC. Predictions for the total cross section and differential distributions in transverse momentum of $W^{\pm}$ and $WW$ invariant mass are presented. We discuss both $γγ\to W^+ W^-$ mechanism as well as a new mechanism of exclusive diffractive production. The amplitude for the latter process is calculated in the Durham model. We compare the two (QED and QCD) types of contributions. The diffractive contribution is only a small fraction of fb compared to the $γγ$ contribution which is of the order of 100 fb…
Pseudoscalar and charged Higgs bosons production in the processes $μ^+ μ^-\to P^0_i Z^0$, $μ^+μ^- \to H^{\pm}W^{\mp}$ within the models with several Higgs doublets and singlets is considered.
We study the dilepton-dijet signal in the dominant Higgs production channel at a linear e+ e- collider. We estimate the effects of Universal Extra Dimension (UED) by a simple analysis of the cross-sections. The heavy Kaluza-Klein excitations of the Standard Model fields in UED can significantly alter the decay properties of the Higgs boson to loop-driven final states. We show that by taking a simple ratio between cross-sections of two different final states this difference can be very easily highlighted.
We confront a hybrid strong/weak coupling model for jet quenching to data from LHC heavy ion collisions. The model combines the perturbative QCD physics at high momentum transfer and the strongly coupled dynamics of non- abelian gauge theories plasmas in a phenomenological way. By performing a full Monte Carlo simulation, and after fitting one single parameter, we successfully describe several jet observables at the LHC, including dijet and photon jet measurements. Within current theoretical and experimental uncertainties, we find that such observables show little sensitivity to the specifics …
We review the signal, and the $b\bar{b}$ background, for Higgs production by the exclusive double-diffractive process, $pp \to p+H+p$, and its subsequent $H \to b\bar{b}$ decay, at the LHC. We discuss the production of Higgs bosons in both the SM and MSSM. We show how the predicted rates may be checked at the Tevatron by observing the exclusive double-diffractiveproduction of dijets, or $χ_c$ or $χ_b$ mesons, or $γγ$ pairs.
Theoretical overview on phenomenology of Higgs boson and SUSY Higgs boson at a future linear collider experiment is given as a Higgs and SUSY Higgs working group summary report for LCWS 2000.
We explore the possibility of distinguishing the SM-like MSSM Higgs boson from the SM Higgs boson via Higgs boson pair production at future muon collider. We study the behavior of the production cross section in SM and MSSM with Higgs boson mass for various choices of MSSM parameters tan βand m\sub A. We observe that at fixed CM energy, in the SM, the total cross section increases with the increase in Higgs boson mass whereas this trend is reversed for the MSSM case. The changes that occur for the MSSM case in comparison to the SM predictions are quantified in terms of the relative percentage …
We present the current development of the photoproduction approach for the Higgs boson with its application to $pp$ and $pA$ collisions at the LHC. We perform a different analysis for the Gap Survival Probability, where we consider a probability of 3% and also a more optimistic value of 10% based on the HERA data for dijet production. As a result, the cross section for the exclusive Higgs boson production is about 2 fb and 6 fb in $pp$ collisions and 617 and 2056 fb for $p$Pb collisions, considering the gap survival factor of 3% and 10%, respectively.
The topical subject of Higgs production in diffractive hard scattering events at the Tevatron and LHC is discussed. This has been proposed as a Higgs discovery channel with appealing experimental features. Predictions are obtained from the Soft Colour Interaction model, where rapidity gaps are created by a new soft interaction added to the normal hard scattering processes, implemented in the Monte Carlo event generator PYTHIA. A brief review of the successful application of the model to describe all CDF and DO data on diffractive hard scattering, such as production of W/Z, dijets, beauty and J…
