We derive gauge invariant operators entering definitions of the Transverse Momentum Dependent (TMD) gluon distributions, for all five and six parton processes. Our calculations utilize color decomposition of amplitudes in the color flow basis. In addition, we find the general result for multi-gluon process (with arbitrary number of gluons) at large $N_{c}$. On phenomenological ground our results may be used for multi-jet production in the small-$x$ regime, where the TMD gluon distributions can be derived from the Color Glass Condensate effective theory.
We show that soft gluons exchanged between the two colliding protons in multiparton scattering processes can be decoupled, such that their effects are described by the vacuum expectation values of Wilson lines. Our argument relies on nonabelian Ward identities and generalises the proof of factorisation for single Drell-Yan production given by Collins, Soper and Sterman.
The connection between multiparton interaction, diffractive processes and saturation effects is discussed. The relation of the rise of the gluon density at small longitudinal momentum fractions x with the occurrence of saturation, diffraction and multiparton interaction is being studied both experimentally and theoretically. We illustrate key ideas underlying recent progress, and stress the role of different theoretical approaches to small-x QCD evolution in investigations of multiparton interactions.
The high energy photoproduction of jets is being observed at the ep collider, HERA. It may be that the HERA centre-of-mass energy is sufficiently large that the production of more than one pair of jets per ep collision becomes possible, owing to the large number density of the probed gluons. We construct a Monte Carlo model of such multiparton interactions and study their effects on a wide range of physical observables. We consider a scalar field, such as the Higgs boson H, coupled to gluons via the effective operator H tr G_{mu nu} G^{mu nu} induced by a heavy-quark loop. We treat H as the real part of a complex field phi which couples to the self-dual part of the gluon field-strength, via the operator phi tr G_{SD mu nu} G_{SD}^{mu nu}, whereas the conjugate field phi^dagger couples to the anti-self-dual part. We revisit the model-independent decomposition of the gluon correlator, producing T-even and T-odd gluon transverse momentum distributions (TMDs), at leading twist. We study the role of the non-perturbative input to the transverse momentum dependent (TMD) gluon density in hard processes at the LHC. Transverse momentum dependent (TMD) distribution correlators can be parametrized in terms of TMD parton distribution functions (PDFs), or TMDs for short. We provide an overview of the leading-twist quark and gluon TMDs, both in momentum space and in coordinate space (also called $b_T$-space, where $b_T$ is Fourier conjugate to the partonic momentum $k_T$). We consider unpolarized, vector polarized, as well as tensor polarized hadrons, which is relevant for spin-$0$, spin-$1/2$, and spin-$1$ hadrons.

We study the evolution of the small $x$ gluon transverse momentum dependent(TMD) distribution in the dilute limit. The calculation has been carried out in the Ji-Ma-Yuan scheme using a simple quark target model. Gluon TMDs can be accessed through the analysis of azimuthal asymmetries for heavy quark pair and dijet production in electron-proton collisions, similarly to the way quark TMDs are commonly extracted from semi-inclusive deep-inelastic scattering data. We investigate the dependence of the deep inelastic proton structure function $F_L(x, Q^2)$ on different forms of the transverse momentum dependent (TMD, or unintegrated) gluon distribution. We present a comparison of theoretical results with the latest experimental data taken by the H1 and ZEUS Collaborations at HERA. We demonstrate that these data, despite of having quite large uncertainties, can test different kinds of the gluon TMD in a proton. Moreover, different phenomenological models at low $x$ could be tested by future experiments on deep inelastic scattering.

We present the study of accessing unpolarized and linearly polarized gluon TMDs in J/ψ and Υ(1S) production in unpolarized proton-proton collision at LHC, RHIC and AFTER energies. Non- relativistic QCD based color octet model (COM) is used for estimating quarkonium production rates within transverse momentum dependent factorization formalism. We present exploratory studies of the 3D proton tomography through polarized $T$-odd gluon TMDs at leading twist, obtained in a spectator-model framework. We embody in our approach a flexible parameterization for the spectator-mass spectral function, suited to catch both small- and moderate-$x$ effects. All these studies are relevant to unveil the gluon dynamics inside hadrons, which represents a core research line of studies at new-generation colliders, such as the Electron-Ion Collider, NICA-SPD, the High-Luminosity LHC, and the Forward Physics Facility.
We show how transverse momentum dependent gluon distributions could be probed at a future Electron-Ion Collider through the analysis of transverse momentum spectra and azimuthal asymmetries in the inclusive electroproduction of $J/ψ$ and $Υ$ mesons. The maximum values of these asymmetries, obtained in a model-independent way by imposing the positivity bounds of the polarized gluon distributions, suggest the feasibility of the proposed measurements.

We use the Color Glass Condensate (CGC) framework to study the production of forward heavy quark-antiquark pairs in unpolarized proton-nucleus or proton-proton collisions in the small-x regime. We study parton-branching solutions of QCD evolution equations and present a method to construct both collinear and transverse momentum dependent (TMD) parton densities from this approach. We work with next-to-leading-order (NLO) accuracy in the strong coupling. Using the unitarity picture in terms of resolvable and non-resolvable branchings, we analyze the role of the soft-gluon resolution scale in the evolution equations. The back-to-back $J/ψ$ and $π$ associated production at $e^+ e^-$ colliders is proposed to detect the gluon transverse momentum dependent(TMD) fragmentation functions. TMD factorization is assumed for this process. With spinless pion, unpolarized and linearly polarized gluon TMD fragmentation functions can be defined. It is found at parton level the hadronic tensor can be described by four structure functions. As a result, there are three independent angular distributions, of which a $\cos{2ϕ}$ azimuthal asymmetry is sensitive to the linearly polarized gluon fragmentation function.
We review recent progress in the description of unpolarized transverse-momentum-dependent (TMD) gluon distributions at small $x$ in the color glass condensate (CGC) effective theory. We combine soft and collinear matrix elements to define transverse momentum dependent parton distributions (TMDs) for gluons, free from rapidity divergences. We establish a factorization theorem at next-to-leading order for the Higgs boson transverse momentum ($q_T$) spectrum, and use it to derive evolution equations for gluon TMDs. The evolution for all gluon TMDs is driven by a universal kernel, i.e. the same for all polarizations. We investigate the gluon transverse momentum dependent correlators as Fourier transform of matrix elements of nonlocal operator combinations. At the operator level these correlators include both field strength operators and gauge links bridging the nonlocality. In contrast to the collinear PDFs, the gauge links are no longer unique for transverse momentum dependent PDFs (TMDs) and also Wilson loops lead to nontrivial effects. We generalize the Catani Hautmann formalism to calculate the Pgq and Pqq transverse momentum dependent splitting functions. Then we use the obtained Pgq kernel to construct a low-x evolution equation for gluons that takes into account the effect of non-diagonal quark-to-gluon splittings. In order to write down a consistent equation we resum virtual corrections coming from the gluon channel and demonstrate that this implies a suitable regularization of the Pgq singularity, corresponding to a soft emitted quark. The Drell-Yan process is studied in the framework of TMD factorization in the Sudakov region $s\gg Q^2\gg q_\perp^2$ corresponding to recent LHC experiments with $Q^2$ of order of mass of Z-boson and transverse momentum of DY pair $\sim$ few tens GeV. The DY hadronic tensors are expressed in terms of quark and quark-gluon TMDs with ${1\over Q^2}$ and ${1\over N_c^2}$ accuracy. We study lepto- and hadroproduction of a heavy-quark pair in the ITMD factorization framework for dilute-dense collisions. Due to the presence of a nonzero quark mass and/or nonzero photon virtuality, new contributions appear compared to the cases of photo- and hadroproduction of dijets, for which the ITMD framework was originally derived. The extra terms are sensitive to gluons that are not fully linearly polarized. At small $x$ those gluons emerge only when saturation effects are taken into account, and in a proper way.
