The generalized Chaplygin gas is usually defined as a barotropic perfect fluid with an equation of state $p=-A ρ^{-α}$, where $ρ$ and $p$ are the proper energy density and pressure, respectively, and $A$ and $α$ are positive real parameters. It has been extensively studied in the literature as a quartessence prototype unifying dark matter and dark energy. Here, we consider an extended family of generalized Chaplygin gas models parameterized by three positive real parameters $A$, $α$ and $β$, which, for two specific choices of $β$ [$β=1$ and $β=\left(1+α\right)/(2α)$], is described by two different Lagrangians previously identified in the literature with the generalized Chaplygin gas. We show that, for $β> 1/2$, the linear stability conditions and the maximum value of the sound speed $c_s$ are regulated solely by $β$, with $0 \le c_s \le 1$ if $β\ge 1$. We further demonstrate that in the non-relativistic regime the standard equation of state $p=-A ρ^{-α}$ of the generalized Chaplygin gas is always recovered, while in the relativistic regime this is true only if $β=\left(1+α\right)/(2α)$. We present a regularization of the ($α\rightarrow 0$, $A \rightarrow \infty$) limit of the generalized Chaplygin gas, showing that it leads to a logarithmic Chaplygin gas model with an equation of state of the form $p = {\mathcal A} \ln\left(ρ/ρ_{*}\right)$, where ${\mathcal A}$ is a real parameter and $ρ_*>0$ is an arbitrary energy density. We finally derive its Lagrangian formulation.
We study the nonlinear regime of Unified Dark Energy models, using Generalized Chaplygin Gas cosmologies as a representative example, and introduce a new parameter characterizing the level of small scale clustering in these scenarios. We show that viable Generalized Chaplygin Gas cosmologies, consistent with the most recent observational constraints, may be constructed for any value of the Generalized Chaplygin Gas parameter by considering models with a sufficiently high level of nonlinear clustering.
The present paper is devoted to find a new generalization of the generalized Chaplygin gas. Therefore, starting from the Hubble parameter associated to the Chaplygin scalar field and using some elliptic identities, the elliptic generalization is straightforward. Thus, all relevant quantities that drive inflation are calculated exactly. Finally, using the measurement on inflation from the Planck 2015 results, observational constraints on the parameters are given.
Unification of dark matter and dark energy as short- and long-range manifestations of a single cosmological substance is possible in models described by the generalized Chaplygin gas equation of state. We show it admits halo-like structures and discuss their density profiles, the resulting space-time geometry and the rotational velocity profiles expected in these models.
The statefinder indices are employed to test the superfluid Chaplygin gas (SCG) model describing the dark sector of the universe. The model involves Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) as dark energy (DE) and an excited state above it as dark matter (DM). The condensate is assumed to have a negative pressure and is embodied as an exotic fluid with the Chaplygin equation of state. Excitations forms the normal component of superfluid. The statefinder diagrams show the discrimination between the SCG scenario and other models with the Chaplygin gas and indicates a pronounced effect of the DM equation o…
We explore exact f(R) gravity solutions that mimic Chaplygin-gas inspired LCDM cosmology. Starting with the original and modified Chaplygin gas equations of state, we reconstruct the forms of f(R) Lagrangians. The resulting solutions are generally quadratic in the Ricci scalar, but have appropriate LCDM solutions in limiting cases. These solutions, given appropriate initial conditions, can be potential candidates for scalar field-driven early universe expansion (inflation) and dark energy-driven late-time cosmic acceleration.
Modified Chaplygin gas as an exotic fluid has been introduced in [34]. Essential features of the modified Chaplygin gas as a cosmological model are discussed. Observational constraints on the parameters of the model have been included. The relationship between the modified Chaplygin gas and a homogeneous minimally coupled scalar field are reevaluated by constructing its self-interacting potential. In addition, we study the role of the tachyonic field in the modified Chaplygin gas cosmological model and the mapping between scalar field and tachyonic field is also considered.
We investigate Holographic Dark Energy Correspondence of Interacting Generalized Chaplygin Gas model in the framework of compact Kaluza-Klein cosmology. The evolution of the modified holographic dark energy and the equation of state parameter is obtained here.Using the present observational value of density parameter a stable configuration is formed which accommodates Dark Energy. we note a connection between Dark Energy and Phantom field and have shown that Dark Energy might have evolved from a Phantom state in the past.
The Chaplygin gas (CG) and the generalized Chaplygin gas (GCG) models, proposed as candidates of the unified dark matter-dark energy (UDME), are tested with the look-back time (LT) redshift data. We find that the LT data only give a very weak constraint on the model parameter. However, by combing the LT with the baryonic acoustic oscillation peak, we obtain, at the 95.4% confidence level, $0.68\leq A_c\leq0.82$ and $0.59\leq h\leq0.65$ for the CG model, and $0.67\leq A_s\leq0.89$ and $-0.29\leq α\leq0.61$ for the GCG model. This shows that both the CG and the GCG are viable as a candidate of U…
The concordance model of cosmology contains several unknown components such as dark matter and dark energy. Many proposals have been made to describe them by choosing an appropriate potential for a scalar field. We study four models in the realm of loop quantum cosmology (LQC): the Chaplygin gas, an inflationary and radiation-like potential, quintessence and an anti-Chaplygin gas. For the latter we show that all trajectories start and end with a type II singularity and, depending on the inital value, may go through a bounce. On the other hand the evolution under the influence of the first thre…
We present some exact solutions of the Einstein equations with an anisotropic fluid exploiting the Chaplygin equation of state. The solutions describe spacetimes with two identical T regions and an intermediate static spherically symmetric R region containing a wormhole. The metric in the T region represents an anisotropic Kantowski-Sachs cosmological model. Its evolution starts from an event horizon and develops according to different scenarios including eternal expansion, contraction and also a finite universe lifetime.
In this paper we consider a cosmological model whose main components are a scalar field and a generalized Chaplygin gas. We obtain an exact solution for a flat arbitrary potential. This solution have the right dust limit when the Chaplygin parameter $A\rightarrow 0$. We use the dynamical systems approach in order to describe the cosmological evolution of the mixture for an exponential self-interacting scalar field potential. We study the scalar field with an arbitrary self-interacting potential using the "Method of $f$-devisers." Our results are illustrated for the special case of a coshlike p…
We want to study the perturbation growth of an initial seed of an ellipsoidal shape in Top-Hat collapse model of structure formation in the Modified Chaplygin gas cosmology. Considering reasonable values of the constants and the parameters of the model under study, it is shown that a very small deviation from spherical symmetry (ellipsoidal geometry) in the initial seed leads to a final highly non-spherical structure which can be considered as a candidate for justifying already known cosmological structures as cosmic walls and filaments.
In this work, we have considered the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) model of the universe where bounce occurs and the universe is filled with Generalized Cosmic Chaplygin Gas (GCCG) or Variable Modified Chaplygin Gas (VMCG). We have studied the stability analysis through dynamical system for both models and found the critical points in flat, open and closed universe. In presence of scalar field, the dynamical behavior of scale factor and Hubble parameter is described in both models. Finally, we have analyzed the energy conditions for both the models in bouncing universe.
Both scalar fields and (generalized) Chaplygin gases have been widely used separately to characterize the dark sector of the Universe. Here we investigate the cosmological background dynamics for a mixture of both these components and quantify the fractional abundances that are admitted by observational data from supernovae of type Ia and from the evolution of the Hubble rate. Moreover, we study how the growth rate of (baryonic) matter perturbations is affected by the dark-sector perturbations.
We investigate the growth of large-scale structure in the superfluid Chaplygin gas (SCG) model. Both linear and non-linear growth, such as $σ_8$ and the skewness $S_3$, are discussed. We find the growth factor of SCG reduces to the EdS case at early times while differs from the $Λ$CDM case in the large $a$ limit. We also find there will be much stricture growth on large scales in the SCG scenario than in $Λ$CDM and the variations of $σ_{8}$ and $S_3$ between SCG and $Λ$CDM can not be discriminated.
A new model describing the dark sector of the universe is established. The model involves Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) as dark energy (DE) and an excited state above it as dark matter (DM). The condensate is assumed to have a negative pressure and is embodied as an exotic fluid with Chaplygin equation of state. Excitations are described as a quasiparticle gas. It is shown that the model is not in disagreement with the current observations of the cosmic acceleration. The model predicts increase of the effective cosmological constant and a complete disappearance of the matter at the far future…
Warm inflationary universe models in the context of generalized chaplygin gas, modified chaplygin gas, generalized cosmic chaplygin gas are being studied. The dissipative coefficient of the form $Γ\propto T$, weak and strong dissipative regimes are being considered. We use quartic potential $\frac{λ_{*}ϕ^{4}}{4}$, which is ruled out by current data in cold inflation but in our models it is analyzed that it is in agreement with the WMAP$9$ and latest Planck data. In these scenarios, the power spectrum, spectral index, and tensor to scalar ratio are being examined under the slow roll approximati…
In this paper, we considered an inflationary model that effectively behaves as a modified Chaplygin gas in the context of quintessence cosmology. We reconstructed the inflaton potential bottom-up and using the recent observational data we fixed the free parameters of the model. We showed that the modified Chaplygin gas inspired model is suitable for both the early and the late time acceleration but has shortcomings between the two periods.
In this paper, viscous generalized Chaplygin gas as a model of dark energy considered. We assume non-constant bulk viscous coefficient and study dark energy density. We consider several cases of density-dependent viscosities. We find that, in the special case, the viscous generalized Chaplygin gas is corresponding to modified Chaplygin gas.
Considering perturbation growth in spherical Top-Hat model of structure formation in a generalized Chaplygin gas dominated universe, we want to study this scenario with a modified Chaplygin gas model. The evolution of background and collapsed region parameters are found for different cases. The stability of the model and the collapse time rate are considered in different cases. The turn-around redshifts are also computed; the results are in relatively good agreement with current observational data.
We clarify thermodynamics of the Chaplygin gas by introducing the integrability condition. All thermal quantities are derived as functions of either volume or temperature. Importantly, we find a new general equation of state, describing the Chaplygin gas completely. We confirm that the Chaplygin gas could show a unified picture of dark matter and energy which cools down through the universe expansion without any critical point (phase transition).
In this letter we consider a correspondence between holographic dark energy and variable modified Chaplygin gas to obtain a holographic dark energy model of the universe. The corresponding potential of the scalar field has been reconstructed which describes the modified variable Chaplygin gas. The stability of the holographic dark energy in this case is also discussed.
The Modified Chaplygin Gas (MCG) model belongs to the class of a unified models of dark energy (DE) and dark matter (DM). It is characterized by an equation of state (EoS) $p_c = Bρ- A/ρ^α$, where the case $B=0$ corresponds to the Generalized Chaplygin Gas (GCG) model. Using a perturbative analysis and power spectrum observational data we show that the MCG model is not a sucessful candidate for the cosmic medium unless $B=0$. In this case, it reduces to the usual GCG model.
In this work I study the density change along the accretion and wind branches when modified Chaplygin gas is taken to be the accreting fluid. I get a high wind density very near to black hole while a low wind density far from the black hole. In modified Chaplygin gas accretion case a local minima in accretion-density is got which can be detected as the CENBOL.
The role of the interaction in reaching and crossing the phantom divide line in the Chaplygin gas model is discussed. We obtain some necessary properties of the interaction that allow the model to arrive at or cross the phantom divide line. We show that these properties put some conditions on the ratio of dark matter to dark energy density in the present epoch.
Modified Chaplygin Gas has been successful in describing the cosmic history of the universe from radiation to $Λ$CDM in standard cosmology, while particle creation mechanism in nonlinear thermodynamics can be used to explain inflation as well as late time acceleration. The present work is an attempt to explore the possibilities of obtaining an alternative explanations to cosmic evolution when modified Chaplygin gas is used in the context of particle creation mechanism.
The goal of this paper is to discuss phase space analysis of some interacting Chaplygin gas models in General Relativity. Chaplygin gas is one of the fluids actively considered in modern cosmology due to the fact that it is a joint model of dark energy and dark matter. In this paper we have considered various forms of interaction term Q including linear and non linear sign changeable interactions. For each case late time attractors for the field equations are found.
We consider a universe filled by a modified generalized Chaplygin gas together with a pressureless dark matter component. We get a thermodynamical interpretation for the modified generalized Chaplygin gas confined to the apparent horizon of FRW universe, whiles dark sectors do not interact with each other. Thereinafter, by taking into account a mutual interaction between the dark sectors of the cosmos, we find a thermodynamical interpretation for interacting modified generalized Chaplygin gas. Additionally, probable relation between the thermal fluctuations of the system and the assumed mutual…
In this paper, we consider three different models of dark energy in higher dimensional space-time and discuss about some cosmological parameters numerically. The first model is a single component universe including viscous varying modified Chaplygin gas. In the second model, we consider two-component universe including viscous varying modified Chaplygin gas and ghost dark energy. In the third model, we consider another two-component universe including viscous modified cosmic Chaplygin gas and ghost dark energy. In the cases of two-component fluids we also consider possibility of interaction be…
In this work, we consider the interacting agegraphic dark energy models with entropy correction terms due to loop quantum gravity. We study the correspondence between the Chaplygin gas energy density with the interacting entropy-corrected agegraphic dark energy models in non-flat FRW universe. We reconstruct the potentials and the dynamics of the interacting entropy-corrected agegraphic scalar field models. This model is also extended to the interacting entropy-corrected agegraphic generalized Chaplygin gas dark energy.
Recently, it was proposed a new fermionic model of dark energy, the so-called f-essence. In this work, we explicitly reconstruct the different f-essence models. In particular, these models include the fermionic Chaplygin gas and the fermionic generalized Chaplygin gas models of dark energy. We also derive the equation of state parameter of the selected f-essence models.
We have presented a model in which the new generalized Chaplygin gas interacts with matter. We find that there exists a stable scaling solution at late times in the evolution of the universe. Moreover, the phantom crossing scenario is observed in this model.
The present work employs the Linder parametrization of a constant growth index \cite{linder/index} to investigate the evolution of growth rate of clustering and the dissipation of configurational entropy in some of the most widely studied Chaplygin gas models, such as the generalized Chaplygin gas and the modified Chaplygin gas. The model parameters of the Chaplygin gas models are found to play a vital role in the evolution of growth rate, dark energy density parameter, EoS parameter, and configurational entropy. Furthermore, the work communicates the rate of change of configurational entropy …
We study the accretion of modified Chaplygin gas upon different types of black hole. Modified Chaplygin gas is one of the best candidates for a combined model of dark matter and dark energy. In addition, from a field theoretical point of view the modified Chaplygin gas model is equivalent to that of a scalar field having a self-interacting potential. We formulate the equations related to both spherical accretion and disc accretion, and respective winds. The corresponding numerical solutions of the flow, particularly of velocity, are presented and are analyzed. We show that the accretion-wind s…
In this paper we construct modified cosmic Chaplygin gas which has viscosity. We use exponential function method to solve non-linear equation and obtain time-dependent dark energy density. Then discuss Hubble expansion parameter and scale factor and fix them by using observational data. We also investigate stability of this theory.
We have considered flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) model of the universe and reviewed the modified Chaplygin gas as the fluid source. Associated with the scalar field model, we have determined the Hubble parameter as a generating function in terms of the scalar field. Instead of hyperbolic function, we have taken Jacobi elliptic function and Abel function in the generating function and obtained modified Chaplygin-Jacobi gas (MCJG) and modified Chaplygin-Abel gas (MCAG) equation of states, respectively. Next, we have assumed that the universe filled in dark matter, radiation, and dark ene…
The class of Chaplygin gas models regarded as a candidate of dark energy can be realized by a scalar field, which could drive the variation of the fine structure constant $α$ during the cosmic time. This phenomenon has been observed for almost ten years ago from the quasar absorption spectra and attracted many attentions. In this paper, we reconstruct the class of Chaplygin gas models to a kind of scalar fields and confront the resulting $Δα/α$ with the observational constraints. We found that if the present observational value of the equation of state of the dark energy was not exactly equal …
In this paper, we investigate the viscous modified Chaplygin gas cosmological model. Solutions for different values of the viscosity parameter are obtained using both analytical and numerical methods. We have calculated the deceleration and defined {\em newly} statefinder $\{r, s \}$ pair in D dimensions. It is shown that when $D=4$, the usual statefinder parameters are recovered. Furthermore, we apply the statefinder diagnostic to the MCG model with and without viscosity in $D$ dimensions and explore these parameters graphically.
We assume that the negative cosmological constant as a thermodynamical pressure and the asymptotically anti-de Sitter (AdS) black hole thermodynamics with modified Chaplygin gas. We have written the mass of the black hole, volume, entropy and temperature due to the thermodynamic system. We find a new solution of Einstein's field equations of AdS black hole with modified Chaplygin gas as a thermodynamic system. We also examine the weak, strong and dominant energy conditions for the source fluid of black hole. We also show that the thermodynamic black hole with Chaplygin gas can be considered as…
The Friedmann-Robertson-Walker(FRW) model with dynamical Dark Energy(DE) in the form of modified Chaplygin gas(MCG) has been investigated. The evolution equations are reduced to an autonomous system on the two dimensional phase plane and it can be interpreted as the motion of the particle in an one dimensional potential.
In this paper we investigate the role played by dark energy in the form of Generalized cosmic Chaplygin gas in an accelerating universe described by FRW cosmology. We have tried to describe the model from the theoretical point of view of a field, by introducing a scalar field $ϕ$ and a self interacting potential $V(ϕ)$. The corresponding expressions for the field are obtained for the given model. Statefinder parameters have been used to characterize the dark energy model. Plots have been generated for characterizing different phases of universe diagrammatically and a comparative study is perfo…
In this article, spherically symmetric thin-shell wormholes supported by a generalized Chaplygin gas are constructed and their stability under perturbations preserving the symmetry is studied. Wormholes with charge and with a cosmological constant are analyzed and the results are compared with those obtained for the original Chaplygin gas, which was considered in a previous work. For some values of the parameters, one stable configuration is also present and a new extra unstable solution is found.
The estimation of parameters of generalized cosmic Chaplygin gas and viscous modified Chaplygin gas and Accretions around Black Hole in the background of Einstein-Aether gravity
In this paper, we study two different models of dark energy based on Chaplygin gas equation of state. The first model is the variable modified Chaplygin gas while the second one is the extended Chaplygin gas. Both models are considered in the framework of higher order $f(R)$ modified gravity. We also consider the case of time varying gravitational constant $G$ and $Λ$ for both models. We investigate some cosmological parameters such as the Hubble, the deceleration and the equation of state parameters. Then we showed that the model that we considered, extended Chaplygin gas with time-dependent …
In the frame of the scalar field model with non minimal kinetic coupling to gravity, we study the cosmological solutions of the Chaplygin gas model of dark energy. By appropriately restricting the potential, we found the scalar field, the potential and coupling giving rise to the Chaplygin gas solution. Extensions to the generalized and modified Chaplygin gas have been made.
This paper discusses a new variable equation of state parameter leading to exact solutions of the Einstein field equations describing traversable wormholes. In addition to generalizing the notion of phantom energy, the equation of state generates a mathematical model that combines the generalized phantom energy and the generalized Chaplygin gas models.
The purpose of this paper is to construct spherical thin-shell wormhole solutions through cut and paste technique and investigate the stability of these solutions in the vicinity of modified Chaplygin gas. The Darmois-Israel formalism is used to formulate the stresses of the surface concentrating the exotic matter. We explore the stability of the wormhole solutions by using the standard potential method. We conclude that there exist more stable as well as unstable solutions than the previous study with generalized Chaplygin gas \cite{15}.
The generalized Chaplygin gas (GCG) model is the prototype of a unified model of dark energy (DE) and dark matter (DM). It is characterized by equation-of-state (EoS) parameters $A$ and $α$. We use a statistical analysis of the 2dFGRS data to constrain these parameters. In particular, we find that very small (close to zero) and very large values ($α\gg 1$) of the equation-of-state parameter $α$ are preferred. To test the validity of this type of unification of the dark sector we admit the existence of a separate DM component in addition to the Chaplygin gas and calculate the probability distri…
In this paper, we investigate cosmological consequences of a scenario for recently reported accelerated expansion of the Universe, in which the generalized Chaplygin gas (GCG) along with the baryonic matter are responsible for this observed phenomenon. In the present model, we employ an isotropic and homogeneous FLRW space time in the framework of $f(R,T)$ theory of gravity. In $f(R,T)$ gravity, the conservation of energy-momentum tensor (EMT) leads to a constraint equation which enforces us to use some specific forms of type $f(R,T)=g(R)+h(T)$. In this work we choose $g(R)=R$. We consider thr…
We study the spherical top-hat collapse in Einstein gravity and loop quantum cosmology by taking the non-linear evolution of viscous modified variable chaplygin gas and viscous generalized cosmic chaplygin gas. We calculate the equation of state parameter, square speed of sound, perturbed equation of state parameter, perturbed square speed of sound, density contrast and divergence of peculiar velocity in perturbed region and discussed their behavior. It is observed that both chaplygin gas models support the spherical collapse in Einstein as well as loop quantum cosmology because density contra…
