The extraction of right-handed currents, beyond the Standard Model, faces theoretical challenges from long-distance contributions. We show that these effects can be controlled by combining, for example, studies of $B \to V(1^-) γ$ and $B \to A(1^+) γ$ observables. The sum of the long-distance contributions can be extracted without compromise, and the individual pieces follow from a ratio predicted by theory. This leads to significant reduction in the uncertainty of long-distance contributions. The ideas extend to charm decays and the low $q^2$-region of $B \to V \ell \bar{\ell}$, and open the prospect of checking input affecting the angular $B \to K^* μμ$-anomaly.
The V-A structure of the weak interactions leads to definite amplitude hierarchies in exclusive heavy-to-light decays mediated by $b \to (d,s)γ$ and $b \to (d,s) \ell \bar{\ell}$. However, the extraction of right-handed currents beyond the Standard Model is contaminated by V-A long-distance contributions leaking into right-handed amplitudes. We propose that these quantum-number changing long-distance contributions can be controlled by considering the almost parity-degenerate vector meson final states by exploiting the opposite relative sign of left- versus right-handed amplitudes. For example,…
We examine lepton flavor violating (LFV) interactions for heavy right-handed neutrinos that exist in most of the standard model extensions that address dark matter (DM) and neutrino mass at the loop level. In order to probe the collider effect of these LFV interactions, we impose the assumption that the model parameters give the right values of the DM relic density and fulfill the constraints from the LFV processes $\ell_α\rightarrow\ell_βγ$ and $\ell_α\rightarrow3\ell_β$. We also investigate the possibility of probing these interactions, and hence the right-handed neutrino, at leptonic collid…
The CMS Collaboration has published two different searches for new physics that contain possible hints for excesses in $eejj$ and $eνjj$ final states. Interpreting those hints as a possible signal of a right-handed gauge boson $W_R$ with mass 2-2.5~TeV may have profound implications for our understanding of the gauge structure of nature and Grand Unification, the scalar sector accessible at the LHC, neutrino physics, and the baryon asymmetry of the Universe. We show that this interpretation is, indeed, consistent with all existing constraints. However, before making premature claims we propose…
The potential for detecting DM at the Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) is investigated at \mbox{$\sqrt{s}=$ 3 TeV}. The sensitivity of the search is estimated by computing the 95\% confidence level upper limit cross section as a function of the dark matter mass. Left-handed (right-handed) polarised \Pem beams increase (decrease) respectively the Standard Model backgrounds and are essential to characterize the WIMPs properties and control the systematic errors. Using right-handed polarised \Pem beams is decreasing significantly the 95\% confidence level cross section. Using the ratio of the energ…
If neutrinos are Dirac particles and, as suggested by the so far null LHC results, any new physics lies at energies well above the electroweak scale, the Standard Model effective field theory has to be extended with operators involving the right-handed neutrinos. In this paper, we study this effective field theory and set constraints on the different dimension-six interactions. To that aim, we use LHC searches for associated production of light (and tau) leptons with missing energy, monojet searches, as well as pion and tau decays. Our bounds are generally above the TeV for order one couplings…
We propose new searches that exploit the unique signatures of decaying sterile neutrinos with masses below $M_W$ at the LHC, where they can be produced in rare decays of Standard Model gauge bosons. We show that for few-GeV-scale sterile neutrinos, the LHC experiments can probe mixing angles at the level of $10^{-4}-10^{-3}$ through powerful searches that look for prompt leptons in association with displaced lepton jets. For higher-mass sterile neutrinos, ${\it i.e.}$, $M_N \gtrsim 15$ GeV, Run II can explore similarly small mixing angles in prompt multilepton final states. This represents an …
The extension of the Standard Model by right-handed neutrinos can not only explain the active neutrino masses via the seesaw mechanism, it is also able solve a number of long standing problems in cosmology. Especially, masses below the TeV scale are of particular interest as they can lead to a plethora of signatures in experimental searches. We present the first full frequentist analysis of the extension of the Standard Model by three right-handed neutrinos, with masses between 60 MeV and 500 GeV, using the Global and Modular BSM (beyond the Standard Model) Inference Tool GAMBIT. Our analysis …
In this paper, we argue that an extension of the Standard Model with a single leptoquark and three right-handed neutrinos can explain the excess in the first-generation leptoquark search at the LHC. We also find that when the leptoquark has similarly sized couplings to all three generations, it produces additional signals which will soon be tested in the second- and third-generation leptoquark searches, as well as in decay channels consisting of two mixed flavor leptons and two jets. If the leptoquark only couples to the first generation, on the other hand, two of the right-handed neutrinos ne…
We study discovery prospects for long-lived sterile neutrinos at the LHC with multitrack displaced vertices, with masses below the electroweak scale. We reinterpret current displaced vertex searches making use of publicly available, parametrized selection efficiencies for modeling the detector response to displaced vertices. We focus on production of right-handed $W_{R}$ bosons and neutrinos $N$ in a left-right symmetric model, and find poor sensitivity. After proposing a different trigger strategy (considering the prompt lepton accompanying the neutrino displaced vertex) and optimized cuts in…
We investigate the pair production of right-handed neutrinos from the decay of a light $B-L$ scalar in the $U(1)_{B-L}$ model. The $B-L$ scalar mixes to the SM Higgs, and the physical scalar is required to be lighter than the observed Higgs. The produced right-handed neutrinos are predicted to be long-lived according to the type-I seesaw mechanism, and yield potentially distinct signatures such as displaced vertex and time-delayed leptons at the CMS/ATLAS/LHCb, as well as signatures at the far detectors including the CODEX-b, FACET, FASER, MoEDAL-MAPP and MATHUSLA. We analyze the sensitivity r…
The $U(1)$ extensions of the Standard Model contain a heavy neutral gauge boson $Z^\prime$. If leptophobic, the boson can evade the stringent bounds from the dilepton resonance searches. We consider two theoretically well-motivated examples of leptophobic $U(1)$ extensions in which the $Z'$ decays to right-handed neutrinos (RHNs) with substantial branchings. The coexistence of a leptophobic $Z^\prime$ and the RHNs opens up a new possibility of searching for these particles simultaneously through the production of a $Z^\prime$ at the LHC and its decay to a RHN pair. For this decay to occur, the…
In a class of neutrino mass models with a lepton flavor violation (LFV) Yukawa interaction term that involves a heavy right handed neutrino, a charged scalar and a charged lepton, we investigate at the ILC@500 GeV the possibility of observing news physics. These models can address neutrino mass and dark matter without being in conflict with different LFV constraints. By imposing DM relic density and LFV constraints, we recast the analysis done by L3 collaboration at LEP-II of monophoton searches on our space parameter and look for new physics in such channels like monophoton and $S S(γ)$, wher…

Several extensions of the Standard Model contain right-handed (sterile) neutrinos in the GeV-TeV mass range. Due to their mixing with the active neutrinos, they may give rise to novel effects in cosmology, neutrino physics, and collider searches. In addition, right-handed neutrinos can also appear as final states from dark matter annihilations, with important implications for dark matter indirect detection searches. In this paper, we use current data from the Fermi Large Area Telescope (6-year observation of dwarf spheroidal galaxies) and H.E.S.S. (10-year observation of the Galactic center) t…
We analyze the lepton number violating (LNV) meson decays that arise in a TeV scale Left Right Symmetry model. The right handed Majorana neutrino $N$ along with the right handed or Standard Model gauge bosons mediate the meson decays and provide a resonant enhancement of the rates if the mass of $N$ ($M_N$) lies in the range $\sim (100\, \rm{MeV}-5\, \rm{GeV})$. Using the expected upper limits on the number of events for the LNV decay modes $M_{1}^{+} \to\ell^{+}\ell^{+}π^{-}$~($M_{1}=B, D, D_{s}, K$), we derive constraints plausible on the mass of the right handed charged gauge boson by futur…

A gauged $U(1)_X$ extension of the Standard Model is a simple and consistent framework to naturally incorporate three right-handed neutrinos (RHNs) for generating the observed light neutrino masses and mixing by the type-I seesaw mechanism. We examine the collider testability of the $U(1)_X$ model, both in its minimal form with the conventional charges, as well as with an alternative charge assignment, via the resonant production of the $U(1)_X$ gauge boson ($Z^\prime$) and its subsequent decay into a pair of RHNs. We first derive an updated upper limit on the new gauge coupling $g_X$ as a fun…
We study the Standard Model effective field theory ($ν$SMEFT) extended with operators involving right-handed neutrinos, focussing on the regime where the right-handed neutrinos decay promptly on collider scales to a photon and a Standard Model neutrino. This scenario arises naturally for right-handed neutrinos with masses of the order $m_N \sim 0.1 \dots 10\, \text{GeV}$. We limit the relevant dimension-six operator coefficients using LEP and LHC searches with photons and missing energy in the final state as well as pion and tau decays. While bounds on new physics contributions are generally i…
We derive perturbativity constraints on beyond standard model scenarios with extra gauge groups, such as $SU(2)$ or $U(1)$, whose generators contribute to the electric charge, and show that there are both upper and lower limits on the additional gauge couplings, from the requirement that the couplings remain perturbative up to the grand unification theory (GUT) scale. This leads to stringent constraints on the masses of the corresponding gauge bosons and their collider phenomenology. We specifically focus on the models based on $SU(2)_L\times U(1)_{I_{3R}} \times U(1)_{B-L}$ and the left-right…
We consider the recent LHCb result for $B_c\to J/ψτν$ in conjunction with the existing anomalies in $R(D)$ and $R(D^\star)$ within the framework of a right-handed current with enhanced couplings to the third generation. The model predicts a linear relation between the observables and their SM values in terms of two combinations of parameters. The strong constraints from $b\to s γ$ on $W-W^\prime$ mixing effectively remove one of the combinations of parameters resulting in an approximate proportionality between all three observables and their SM values. To accommodate the current averages for $…
The measured $B$-meson semi-leptonic branching ratios $R_{D}$ and $R_{D^*}$ have long-standing deviations between theory and experiment. We introduce a model which explains both anomalies through a single interaction by introducing a right-handed neutrino as the missing energy particle. This interaction is mediated by a heavy charged vector boson ($W'$) which couples only to right-handed quarks and leptons of the Standard Model through the mixing of these particles with new vector-like fermions. Previous $W'$ models for the $R_{D^{(*)}}$ anomaly were strongly constrained from flavor changing n…
The Standard Model of particle physics is still lacking an understanding of the generation and nature of neutrino masses. A favorite theoretical scenario (the see-saw mechanism) is that both Dirac and Majorana mass terms are present, leading to the existence of heavy partners of the light neutrinos, presumably massive and nearly sterile. These heavy neutrinos can be searched for at high energy lepton colliders of very high luminosity, such as the Future electron-positron e+e- Circular Collider, FCC-ee (TLEP), presently studied within the Future Circular Collider design study at CERN, as a poss…
The $μν$SSM is a simple supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (SM) capable of describing neutrino physics in agreement with experiments. We perform the complete one-loop renormalization of the neutral scalar sector of the $μν$SSM with three generation of right-handed neutrinos in a mixed on-shell/$\overline{\mathrm{DR}}$ scheme. We calculate the full one-loop corrections to the neutral scalar masses of the $μν$SSM. The one-loop contributions are supplemented by available MSSM higher-order corrections. We obtain numerical results for a SM-like Higgs-boson mass consistent with experimen…
We explore scenarios where the $R(D^{(*)})$ anomalies arise from semitauonic decays to a right-handed sterile neutrino. We perform an EFT study of all five simplified models capable of generating at tree-level the lowest dimension electroweak operators that give rise to this decay. We analyze their compatibility with current $R(D^{(*)})$ data and other relevant hadronic branching ratios, and show that one simplified model is excluded by this analysis. The remainder are compatible with collider constraints on the mediator semileptonic branching ratios, provided the mediator mass is of order TeV…
We entertain the possibility that neutrino masses and dark matter (DM) originate from a common composite dark sector. A minimal effective theory can be constructed based on a dark $SU(3)_D$ interaction with three flavors of massless dark quarks; electroweak symmetry breaking gives masses to the dark quarks. By assigning a $\mathbb Z_2$ charge to one flavor, a stable "dark kaon" can provide a good thermal relic DM candidate. We find that "dark neutrons" may be identified as right handed Dirac neutrinos. Some level of "neutron-anti-neutron" oscillation in the dark sector can then result in non-z…
We propose and study a novel extension of the Standard Model based on the B-L gauge symmetry that can account for dark matter and neutrino masses. In this model, right-handed neutrinos are absent and the gauge anomalies are canceled instead by four chiral fermions with fractional B-L charges. After the breaking of $U(1)_{B-L}$, these fermions arrange themselves into two Dirac particles, the lightest of which is automatically stable and plays the role of the dark matter. We determine the regions of the parameter space consistent with the observed dark matter density and show that they can be pa…
The spectrum of triatomic molecules with close rovibrational opposite parity levels is sensitive to the $\mathcal{P}$,$\mathcal{T}$-odd effects. This makes them a convenient platform for the experimental search of a new physics. Among the promising candidates one may distinguish the YbOH as a non-radioactive compound with a heavy atom. The energy gap between levels of opposite parity, $l$-doubling, is of a great interest as it determines the electric field strength required for the full polarization of the molecule. Likewise, the influence of the bending and stretching modes on the sensitiviti…
We provide an ultraviolet (UV) complete model for the $R(D^{(*)})$ anomalies, in which the additional contribution to semi-tauonic $b \to c$ transitions arises from decay to a right-handed sterile neutrino via exchange of a TeV-scale $SU(2)_L$ singlet $W'$. The model is based on an extension of the Standard Model (SM) hypercharge group, $U(1)_Y$, to the $SU(2)_V\times U(1)'$ gauge group, containing several pairs of heavy vector-like fermions. We present a comprehensive phenomenological survey of the model, ranging from the low-energy flavor physics, direct searches at the LHC, to neutrino phys…

We study the possibility of measuring neutrino Yukawa couplings in the Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model with right-handed neutrinos (NMSSMr) when the lightest Supersymmetric partner (a right-handed sneutrino) is the Dark Matter (DM) candidate, by exploiting a `dijet + dilepton + Missing Transverse Energy' (MET) signature. We show that, unlike the miminal realisation of Supersymmetry (SUSY), i.e., the MSSM, for which the DM candidate is a much heavier (fermionic) state (a neutralino), this non-minimal SUSY model offers one with a much lighter (bosonic) state (a sneutrino) as DM, wh…
We study the possibility of measuring neutrino Yukawa couplings in the Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model with right-handed neutrinos (NMSSMr) when the lightest right-handed sneutrino is the Dark Matter (DM) candidate, by exploiting a `dijet + dilepton + Missing Transverse Energy' signature. We show that, contrary to the miminal realisation of Supersymmetry (SUSY), the MSSM, wherein the DM candidate is typically a much heavier (fermionic) neutralino state, this extended model of SUSY offers one with a much lighter (bosonic) state as DM that can then be produced at the next generatio…
In the context of the minimal left-right symmetric model, we study the interplay between current and future neutrinoless double beta ($0νββ$) decay experiments, long-lived particle searches at the LHC main detectors ATLAS/CMS, and the proposed far detector MATHUSLA. The heavy Majorana neutrino can be produced in association with an electron from the decay of $W$ boson for a non-zero left-right mixing and subsequently decays into another electron with the same charge and jets. Owing to the suppression of large right-handed charged gauge boson $W_R$ mass, the heavy neutrinos could be long-lived.…
This work deals with right handed sneutrino as thermal cold dark matter candidate. This scalar emerges in a supersymmetric version of $SU(3)_c \otimes SU(3)_L \otimes U(1)_X$ gauge model where right handed neutrinos are a natural component of leptonic chiral scalar supermultiplets. We first consider the issue of a $125$~GeV Higgs boson mass in this model, showing that constraints on stop mass and trilinear soft coupling are considerably alleviated compared to MSSM. Then we investigate the region of parameter space that is consistent with right handed sneutrino as thermal cold dark matter, unde…
In this note, we show how one can attribute the anomaly currently present in the measurement of the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon ($a_μ$) to the presence of an underlying Aligned 2-Higgs Doublet Model (A2HDM) with Right-Handed (RH) neutrinos, $ν_R$. The effects of the latter scenario are driven by one and two-loop topologies wherein a very light CP-odd neutral Higgs state ($A$) contributes significantly to $a_μ$. Over the region of parameter space of our new physics model which explains the aforementioned anomaly, also consistent with the most recent measurements of the electron anomal…
Recent lattice QCD calculations of direct CP violation in $K_L \to ππ$ decays indicate tension with the experimental results. Assuming this tension to be real, we investigate a possible beyond-the-Standard Model explanation via right-handed charged currents. By using chiral perturbation theory in combination with lattice QCD results, we accurately calculate the modification of $ε'/ε$ induced by right-handed charged currents and extract values of the couplings that are necessary to explain the discrepancy, pointing to a scale around $10^2$ TeV. We find that couplings of this size are not in con…
Motivated by the null results of the BSM searches in the post-Higgs era of the LHC, our current approach is to look for new physics shifting from theory driven search strategies to signature driven ones. One possible direction might come from investigating the long-lived particles (LLPs) present in various theoretical scenarios through the newly formed Lifetime frontier. In this talk, I discuss a non-sterile right-handed neutrino model consisting of EW-scale Majorana masses, having signals with large displaced vertices arising in both the fermion and scalar sectors. The characteristic features…
The KATRIN experiment aims to determine the absolute neutrino mass by measuring the endpoint region of the tritium $β$ spectrum. As a large-scale experiment with a sharp energy resolution, high source luminosity and low background it may also be capable of testing certain theories of neutrino interactions beyond the standard model (SM). An example of a non-SM interaction are right-handed currents mediated by right-handed W bosons in the left-right symmetric model (LRSM). In this extension of the SM, an additional SU(2)$_\mathrm R$ symmetry in the high-energy limit is introduced, which naturall…

We discuss a radiative type-I seesaw. In these models, the radiative generation of Dirac neutrino masses allows to explain the smallness of the observed neutrino mass scale for rather light right-handed neutrino masses in a type-I seesaw. We first present the general idea in a model independent way. This allows us to estimate the typical scale of right-handed neutrino mass as a function of the number of loops. We then present two example models, one at one-loop and another one at two-loop, in which we discuss neutrino masses and lepton flavour violating constraints in more detail. For the two-…
