We propose new searches that exploit the unique signatures of decaying sterile neutrinos with masses below $M_W$ at the LHC, where they can be produced in rare decays of Standard Model gauge bosons. We show that for few-GeV-scale sterile neutrinos, the LHC experiments can probe mixing angles at the level of $10^{-4}-10^{-3}$ through powerful searches that look for prompt leptons in association with displaced lepton jets. For higher-mass sterile neutrinos, ${\it i.e.}$, $M_N \gtrsim 15$ GeV, Run II can explore similarly small mixing angles in prompt multilepton final states. This represents an improvement of up to two orders of magnitude in sensitivity to the sterile neutrino production rate.
The signatures of dark matter at the LHC commonly involve, in simplified scenarios, the production of a single particle plus large missing energy, from the undetected dark matter. However, in $Z'$-portal scenarios anomaly cancellation requires the presence of extra dark leptons in the dark sector. We investigate the signatures of the minimal scenarios of this kind, which involve cascade decays of the extra $Z'$ boson into the dark leptons, identifying a four-lepton signal as the most promising one. We estimate the sensitivity to this signal at the LHC, the high-luminosity LHC upgrade, a possib…
In this presentation an account of the multi-lepton (electrons and muons) anomalies at the LHC is given. These include the excess production of opposite sign leptons with and without b-quarks, including a corner of the phase-space with a full hadronic jet veto; same sign leptons with and without b-quarks; three leptons with and without b-quarks, including also the presence of a $Z$. Excesses emerge in corners of the phase space where a range of SM processes dominate, indicating that the potential mismodeling of a particular SM process is unlikely to explain them. A procedure is implemented tha…
We investigate multilepton LHC signals arising from electroweak processes involving sleptons. We consider the framework of general gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking, focusing on models where the low mass region of the superpartner spectrum consists of the three generations of charged sleptons and the nearly massless gravitino. We demonstrate how such models can provide an explanation for the anomalous four lepton events recently observed by the CMS collaboration, while satisfying other existing experimental constraints. The best fit to the CMS data is obtained for a selectron/smuon mass of…
In the framework of gauge-mediated supersymmetry breaking models pair production of the lightest neutralinos, scalar leptons, or charginos at LEPII gives rise to interesting signals involving multilepton final states and missing energy. In the parameter space where the scalar tau, $\tildeτ_1$, is the next-to-lightest supersymmetric particle, we identify three interesting regions, which give rise to distinctly different final states: (i) 2 $τ$-leptons plus missing energy, (ii) 4 charged leptons plus missing energy where in some regions all four are $τ$-leptons, or (iii) six charged leptons, of …
The "$μ$ from $ν$" supersymmetric standard model ($μν$SSM) cures the $μ$-problem and concurrently reproduces measured neutrino data by using a set of usual right-handed neutrino superfields. Recently, the LHC has revealed the first scalar boson which naturally makes it tempting to test $μν$SSM in the light of this new discovery. We show that this new scalar while decaying to a pair of unstable long-lived neutralinos, can lead to a distinct signal with non-prompt multileptons. With concomitant collider analysis we show that this signal provides an unmistakable signature of the model, pronounced…
In a recent paper, we proposed a hierarchical ansatz for the lepton-number-violating trilinear Yukawa couplings of the R-parity-violating minimal supersymmetric standard model. As a result, the number of free parameters in the lepton-number-violating sector was reduced from 36 to 6. Neutrino oscillation data fixes these six parameters, which also uniquely determines the decay modes of the lightest supersymmetric particle and thus governs the collider signature at the LHC. A typical signature of our model consists of multiple leptons in the final state and significantly reduced missing transver…
The CDF and D0 collaborations have both reported unusual events in the dilepton+jets sample with very high lepton and missing transverse energies. It is possible, but very unlikely, that these events originate from top quark pair production; however, they have characteristics that are better accounted for by decays of supersymmetric quarks with mass in the region of 300 GeV: $\widetilde q \to q \widetilde χ$, $\widetildeχ\to ν\widetilde\ell$, $\widetilde\ell\rightarrow \ell \widetilde χ_1^0$. Such a supersymmetric origin also leads to events with large transverse missing energy and either 0, 1…
We consider the possible production of the Higgs Boson in association with a top-quark pair and its subsequent decay into a tau-lepton pair or a W-boson pair. This process can give rise to many signatures of the Higgs boson. These signatures can have electrons, muons, tau jets, bottom jets and/or light flavour jets. We analyze the viability of some of these signatures. We will look at those signatures where the background is minimal. In particular, we explore the viability of the signatures "isolated 4 electron/muon" and "isolated 3 electron/muon + a jet" The jet can be due to a light flavour …
We revisit the scalar singlet dark matter (DM) scenario with a pair of dark lepton partners which form a vectorlike Dirac fermionic doublet. The extra doublet couples with the Standard Model (SM) leptonic doublet and the scalar singlet via a non-SM-like Yukawa structure. As a result, (i) since the extra fermionic states interact with other dark sector particles as well as the SM via gauge and Yukawa interactions, it gives rise to new DM annihilation processes including pair annihilation as well as coannihilation channels, and (ii) such a Yukawa structure opens up new production channels for le…
We study the prospects for excluding or discovering vectorlike leptons using multilepton events at the LHC. We consider models in which the vectorlike leptons decay to tau leptons. If the vectorlike leptons are weak isosinglets, then discovery in multilepton states is found to be extremely challenging. For the case that the vectorlike leptons are weak isodoublet, we argue that there may be an opportunity for exclusion for masses up to about 275 GeV by direct searches with existing LHC data at sqrt{s}=8 TeV. We also discuss prospects for exclusion or discovery at the LHC with future sqrt{s}=13 …
We investigate multilepton signatures, arising from the decays of doubly charged and singly charged Higgs bosons in the Type-II Seesaw model. Depending on the vacuum expectation value of the triplet $v_Δ$, the doubly and singly charged Higgs bosons can decay into a large variety of multi-lepton final states. We explore all possible decay modes corresponding to different regimes of $v_Δ$, that generate distinguishing four and five leptonic signatures. We focus on the 13 TeV Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and further extend the study to a very high energy proton-proton collider (VLHC) with a center…
Leptonic signatures of Dark Matter (DM) are one of the cleanest ways to discover such a secluded form of matter at high energy colliders. We explore the full parameter space relevant to multi-lepton (2- and 3-lepton) signatures at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) from representative minimal consistent models with scalar and fermion DM. In our analysis, we suggest a new parametrisation of the model parameter spaces in terms of the DM mass and mass differences between DM and its multiplet partners. This parametrisation allows us to explore properties of DM models in their whole parameter space. T…
In light of recent discrepancies between the modeling of $t\bar{t} W^\pm$ signatures and measurements reported by the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) experimental collaborations, we investigate in detail theoretical uncertainties for multi-lepton signatures. We compare results from the state-of-the-art full off-shell calculation and its Narrow Width Approximation to results obtained from the on-shell $t\bar{t} W^\pm$ calculation, with approximate spin-correlations in top-quark and $W$ decays, matched to parton showers. In the former case double-, single-, and non-resonant contributions together wi…
We consider a neutrinophilic Higgs scenario where the Standard Model is extended by one additional Higgs doublet and three generations of singlet right-handed Majorana neutrinos. Light neutrino masses are generated through mixing with the heavy neutrinos via Type-I seesaw mechanism when the neutrinophilic Higgs gets a vacuum expectation value (VEV). The Dirac neutrino Yukawa coupling in this scenario can be sizable compared to those in the canonical Type-I seesaw mechanism owing to the small neutrinophilic Higgs VEV giving rise to interesting phenomenological consequences. We have explored var…
We study the LHC phenomenology of flavor changing Yukawa couplings between top quark, Higgs boson, and either an up or charm quark. Such $tuh$ or $tch$ couplings arise for instance in models in which Higgs sector is extended by the existence of additional Higgs bosons or by higher dimensional operators. We emphasize the importance of anomalous single top plus Higgs production in these scenarios, in addition to the more widely studied $t \to h j$ decays. By recasting existing CMS searches in multilepton and diphoton plus lepton final states, we show that bounds on $tuh$ couplings are improved b…
The explanation of the small neutrino mass can be depicted using some handsome models like type-I and inverse seesaw where the Standard Model gauge singlet heavy right handed neutrinos are deployed. The common thing in these two models is a lepton number violating parameter, however, its order of magnitude creates a striking difference between them making the nature of the right handed heavy neutrinos a major play factor. In the type-I seesaw a large lepton number violating parameter involves the heavy right handed neutrinos in the form of Majorana fermions while a small lepton number violatin…
We study how the elements of the leptonic right-handed mixing matrix can be determined at the LHC in the minimal Left-Right symmetric extension of the standard model. We do it by explicitly relating them with physical quantities of the Keung-Senjanović process and the lepton number violating decays of the right doubly charged scalar. We also point out that the left and right doubly charged scalars can be distinguished at the LHC, without measuring the polarization of the final state leptons coming from their decays.
Heavy neutrinos $(N)$ remain one of most promising explanations for the origin of neutrinos' tiny masses and large mixing angles. In light of broad advances in understanding and modeling of hadron collisions at large momentum transfer, we revisit the long-standard search strategy for heavy $N$ decaying to multiple charged leptons $(\ell)$, $pp \to N\ell X \to 3\ell νX$. For electroweak and TeV-scale $N$, we propose a qualitatively new collider analysis premised on a dynamic jet veto and discriminating, on an event-by-event basis, according to the relative amount of hadronic and leptonic activi…
The Super-Kamiokande atmospheric neutrino data suggest existence of the large lepton-flavor violating (LFV) interaction in the higher energy scale. If the minimal supersymmetric standard model is extended to have right-handed neutrinos, the left-handed sleptons in the second and third generations are expected to have the LFV masses in the minimal supergravity scenario. In this article we study the LFV signals in the left-handed slepton production at $μ^+μ^-$ colliders and $\e^+\e^-$ linear colliders (LC's), $μ^+μ^-(\e^+\e^-)\toτμ+4jets + \E$ and $μ^+μ^-(\e^+\e^-)\toτμl+ 2jets+ \E$. The main ba…
We point out that same-sign multilepton events, not given due attention yet for new physics search, can be extremely useful at the Large Hadron Collider. After showing the easy reducibility of the standard model backgrounds, we demonstrate the viability of same-sign trilepton signals for R-parity breaking supersymmetry, at both 7 and 14 TeV. We find that same-sign four-leptons, too, can have appreciable rates. Same-sign trileptons are also expected, for example, in Little Higgs theories with T-parity broken by anomaly terms.
The inclusion of heavy neutral leptons (right-handed neutrinos) to the Standard Model (SM) particle content is one of the best motivated ways to account for the observed neutrino masses and flavor mixing. The modification of the charged and neutral currents from active-sterile mixing of the neutral leptons can provide novel signatures which can be tested at the future collider experiments. In this article, we explore the discovery prospect of a very heavy right handed neutrino to probe such extensions at the future collider experiments like Large Hadron electron Collider (LHeC) and liner colli…
Recent searches for first-generation leptoquarks and heavy right-handed $W_R$ bosons have seen excesses in final states with electrons and jets. A bizarre property of these excesses is that they appear to violate lepton universality. With these results in mind, we study the phenomenology of supersymmetric models in which the Higgs arises as the sneutrino in an electron supermultiplet. Since the electron is singled out in this approach, one can naturally account for the lepton flavor structure of the excesses. In this work, we show that in such a framework, one can significantly alleviate the t…
We consider supersymmetric extension of standard electroweak model with Dirac neutrino masses. In such model for significant region of the parameters right-handed tau sneutrino is the lightest superparticle and right-handed charged tau slepton is the next to lightest superparticle. Due to the smallness of the neutrino masses the right-handed tau slepton is long-lived particle that changes the standard signatures used in the search for supersymmetry at supercolliders. The most striking signatures of such scenario is the existence of highly ionizing tracks and excess of multilepton events that i…
During the last years ATLAS and CMS have reported a number of slight to mild discrepancies in signatures of multileptons plus $b$-jets in analyses such as $t\bar t H$, $t\bar t W^\pm$, $t\bar t Z$ and $t\bar t t\bar t$. Among them, a recent ATLAS result on $t\bar t H$ production has also reported an excess in the charge asymmetry in the same-sign dilepton channel with two or more $b$-tagged jets. Motivated by these tantalizing discrepancies, we study a phenomenological New Physics model consisting of a $Z'$ boson that couples to up-type quarks via right-handed currents: $t_Rγ^μ\bar t_R$, $t_Rγ…
We consider supersymmetric (SUSY) models for the muon $g-2$ anomaly without flavor violating masses at the tree-level. The models can avoid LHC constraints and the vacuum stability constraint in the stau-Higgs potential. Although large flavor violating processes are not induced within the framework of minimal SUSY standard model, once we adopt a seesaw model, sizable lepton flavor violating (LFV) processes such as $μ\to e γ$ and $μ\to e$ conversion are induced. These LFV processes will be observed at future experiments such as MEG-II, COMET and Mu2e if right-handed neutrinos are heavier than $…
We study in detail the collider signatures of an $SU(2)_R$ fermionic quintuplet in the framework of left-right symmetric model in the context of the 13 TeV LHC. Apart from giving a viable dark matter candidate ($χ^0$), this model provides unique collider imprints in the form of same-sign multileptons through the decays of multi-charged components of the quintuplet. In particular, we consider the scenario where the quintuplet carries $(B - L) = 4$ charge, allowing for the presence of high charge-multiplicity particles with relatively larger mass differences among them compared to $(B - L)$ = 0 …
We use ISAJET to perform a detailed study of the multilepton signals expected from cascade decays of supersymmetric particle produced at the CERN LHC. Our analysis is performed within the framework of the minimal supergravity model with gauge coupling unification and radiative electroweak symmetry breaking. We delineate the regions of parameter space where jets plus missing energy plus 1, 2 (opposite sign and same-sign dileptons), and 3 isolated lepton events should be visible above standard model backgrounds. We find that if any $\eslt$ signal at the LHC is to be attributed to gluino and/or s…
We study the connection between charged lepton electric dipole moments, $d_l$ $(l=e,μ,τ)$, and seesaw neutrino mass generation in a simple two Higgs doublet extension of the Standard Model plus three right-handed neutrinos (RHN) $N_a$, $a=1,2,3$. For RHN with hierarchical masses and at least one with mass in the 10 TeV range we obtain the upper bounds of $|d_e|< 9\times 10^{-30}$ e-cm and $|d_μ|<2 \times 10^{-26}$ e-cm. Our scenario favors the normal mass hierarchy for the light neutrinos. We also calculated the cross section for $e^-e^- \ra W^- W^-$ in a high luminosity collider with constrai…
We investigate what would be the consequences for leptogenesis of the existence of a charged SU(2)_L singlet scalar delta^+. If such a scalar particle exists, it allows the right-handed neutrinos to couple not only to left-handed lepton and Higgs doublets as in ordinary leptogenesis, but also to a right-handed charged lepton and a delta^+. This provides a new source of leptogenesis which can be successful in a non-resonant way at scales as low as TeV. The incorporation of this scenario in left-right symmetric and unified models is discussed.
We study the possibility of observing lepton number violation in the right-handed sneutrino sector of the Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model extended with right-handed neutrinos. The scalar potential introduces a lepton number violating mass term for the right-handed sneutrinos, which generates a phase difference that results in oscillations between the sneutrino and antisneutrino. If we have light higgsinos and right-handed sneutrinos, the sneutrino decay width is determined by the tiny Yukawa couplings, which allows the phase difference to accumulate before the sneutrino decays. W…
We systematically analyze the possibility that bi-large lepton mixing originates from the charged lepton sector in models with sequential dominance for the right-handed charged leptons. We derive analytical expressions for the mixing angles and CP phases of the MNS matrix for the case of zero mixing from the neutrino sector, which is arranged for with the help of sequential dominance for the right-handed neutrinos. For small $θ_{13}$, the two large mixing angles $θ_{12}$ and $θ_{23}$ are determined by the Yukawa couplings to the dominant right-handed tau. The mixing angle $θ_{13}$ is then gove…
We consider a $U(1)'$ extended supersymmetric model with a right-handed neutrino superfield which can generate light neutrino mass by Type I seesaw mechanism. The lighter superpartner of the right-handed neutrino could be the scalar dark matter. These right-handed sneutrinos can come from the decay of $\tilde{Z'}$, superpartner of the extra gauge boson $Z'$. Left-right handed sneutrino mixings affect their decays further, giving rise to displaced "lepton flavour violating" signatures. A wino-like chargino NLSP (next to lightest supersymmetric particle) creates even more interesting decay topol…
In models with gravitino as the lightest supersymmetric particle(LSP), the next to lightest supersymmetric particle (NLSP) can have a long lifetime and appear stable in collider experiments. We study the leptonic signatures of such a scenario with tau-sneutrino as the NLSP, which is realized in the non-universal Higgs masses scenario. We focus on an interesting trilepton signature with two like-sign taus and an electron or a muon of opposite sign. The neutralinos and charginos are quite heavy in the model considered, and the trilepton signal comes mostly from the slepton-sneutrino production. …
We examine lepton flavor violating (LFV) interactions for heavy right-handed neutrinos that exist in most of the standard model extensions that address dark matter (DM) and neutrino mass at the loop level. In order to probe the collider effect of these LFV interactions, we impose the assumption that the model parameters give the right values of the DM relic density and fulfill the constraints from the LFV processes $\ell_α\rightarrow\ell_βγ$ and $\ell_α\rightarrow3\ell_β$. We also investigate the possibility of probing these interactions, and hence the right-handed neutrino, at leptonic collid…
In light of the very recent updates on the $R_K$ and $R_{K^*}$ measurements from the LHCb and Belle collaborations, we systematically explore here imprints of New Physics in $b \to s \ell^+ \ell^- $ transitions using the language of effective field theories. We focus on effects that violate Lepton Flavour Universality both in the Weak Effective Theory and in the Standard Model Effective Field Theory. In the Weak Effective Theory we find a preference for scenarios with the simultaneous presence of two operators, a left-handed quark current with vector muon coupling and a right-handed quark curr…
We discuss lepton flavour violating processes induced in the production and decay of heavy right-handed neutrinos at the LHC. Such particles appear in left-right symmetrical extensions of the Standard Model as the messengers of neutrino mass generation, and can have masses at the TeV scale. We determine the expected sensitivity on the right-handed neutrino mixing matrix, as well as on the right-handed gauge boson and heavy neutrino masses. By comparing the sensitivity of the LHC with that of searches for low energy LFV processes, we identify favourable areas of the parameter space to explore t…
Charged lepton flavour violation is reappraised in the context of supersymmetric see-saw mechanism. It is pointed out that a non-trivial flavour structure of right-handed neutrinos, whose effect has been thus far less studied, can give rise to significant slepton flavour transitions. Under the premise that the neutrino Yukawa couplings are of O(1), the right-handed neutrino mixing contribution could form a basis of the $μ\rightarrow e γ$ amplitude which by itself might lead to an experimentally accessible rate, given a typical low-energy sparticle spectrum. Emphasis is placed on the crucial ro…
Assuming the same form of all mass matrices as motivated by quark-lepton symmetry, we discuss conditions under which bi-large mixing in the lepton sector can be obtained with a minimal amount of fine tuning requirements for possible models. We assume hierarchical mass matrices, dominated by the 3-3 element, with off-diagonal elements much smaller than the larger neighboring diagonal element. Characteristic features of this scenario are strong hierarchy in masses of right-handed neutrinos, and comparable contributions of both lighter right-handed neutrinos to the resulting left-handed neutrino …
In the first part of this thesis, we consider an extension to the Standard Model composed by a Massive Vector Doublet under SU(2)L and a Left-handed Heavy Neutral Lepton. We study the production of these exotic leptons with a Same Flavor Opposite Sign standard lepton pair, and jets. We establish limits on the parameter space considering previous searches in this final state. After the limit definition, we study a modification on the event selection criteria in order to increase the possibility of probing these new particles at the Large Hadron Collider. Finally, we perform a parameter scan con…
We analyze possible lepton-flavor-violating decays of the $Z^0$ particle in a minimal extension of the Standard Model, in which one right-handed neutral field for each family has been introduced. Such rare leptonic decays are induced by Majorana neutrinos at the first electroweak loop level and are generally not suppressed by the ordinary "see-saw" mechanism. In particular, we find that experimental bounds on branching ratios of the order of $10^{-5}-10^{-6}$ attainable at $LEP$ may impose constraints on lepton-flavor-mixing parameters and the masses of the heavy Majorana neutrinos.
A possible feature of the inert doublet model (IDM) is to provide a dark matter candidate together with an alteration of both direct and indirect collider constraints that allow for a heavy Higgs boson. We study the IDM in light of recent results from Higgs searches at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in combination with dark matter direct detection limits from the XENON experiment. We ask under what conditions the IDM can still accommodate a heavy Higgs boson. We find that IDM scenarios with a Higgs boson in the mass range 160-600 GeV are ruled out only when all experimental constraints are co…
We consider the recent LHCb result for $B_c\to J/ψτν$ in conjunction with the existing anomalies in $R(D)$ and $R(D^\star)$ within the framework of a right-handed current with enhanced couplings to the third generation. The model predicts a linear relation between the observables and their SM values in terms of two combinations of parameters. The strong constraints from $b\to s γ$ on $W-W^\prime$ mixing effectively remove one of the combinations of parameters resulting in an approximate proportionality between all three observables and their SM values. To accommodate the current averages for $…
In the inverse seesaw mechanism where the spontaneously broken B-L symmetry induces tiny B-L violating Majorana masses for right-handed neutrinos, non-standard Higgs signatures can arise due to a possible Higgs doublet and singlet mixing and/or Higgs boson decays to a left- and right-handed neutrino. This leads to a remarkable feature of hadronically quiet di-lepton final states which can exhibit, in particular, lepton flavour violating signatures coming from flavour-dependent neutrino Yukawa couplings. In this process, one lepton coming from the right-handed decay could be soft enough can be …
We show that in the framework of the 3-3-1 model with right-handed neutrinos, small neutrino masses and large lepton flavor violating processes such as μ\to 3e and μ\to eγcan be obtained by just introducing an additional Higgs sextet. In the limit of vanishing of the Yukawa interaction among Higgs and lepton triplets (h^ν= 0), the decay μ\to 3e strongly depends on the neutrino mass patterns, but the μ\to eγalmost does not. The neutrino masses are not constrained by such processes in the cases of h^ν\neq 0.
We propose a class of left-right symmetric models (LRSMs) with spontaneous D parity breaking, where SU(2)_R breaks at the TeV scale while discrete left-right symmetry breaks around 10^9 GeV. By embedding this framework in a non-supersymmetric SO(10) Grand Unified Theory (GUT) with Pati-Salam symmetry as the highest intermediate breaking step, we obtain g_R / g_L ~ 0.6 between the right- and left-handed gauge couplings at the TeV scale. This leads to a suppression of beyond the Standard Model phenomena induced by the right-handed gauge coupling. Here we focus specifically on the consequences fo…
Motivated by the recent discovery of the Higgs boson at m_h = 126 GeV and also by the non-observation of superparticles at the LHC, high-scale SUSY, where the superparticles are as heavy as O(10) TeV, has been recently proposed. We study lepton-flavor violations (LFVs) in the high-scale SUSY with right-handed neutrinos. Even if the slepton masses are of O(10) TeV, the renormalization group (RG) effects on the slepton mass-squared matrix may induce large enough LFVs which are within the reach of future LFV experiments. We also discuss the implication of the right-handed neutrinos on the electro…
We study leptonic CP and flavor violations in supersymmetric (SUSY) grand unified theory (GUT) with right handed neutrinos, paying attention to the renormalization group effects on the slepton mass matrices due to the neutrino and GUT Yukawa interactions. In particular, we study in detail the impacts of the so-called Casas- Ibarra parameters on CP and flavor violating observables. The renormalization group effects induce CP and flavor violating elements of the SUSY breaking scalar mass squared matrices, which may result in sizable leptonic CP and flavor violating signals. Assuming seesaw formu…
The most promising scenarios of baryogenesis seems to be the one through lepton number violation. Lepton number violation through a Majarana mass of the right-handed neutrinos can generate a lepton asymmetry of the universe when the right-handed neutrinos decay. The left-handed neutrinos get small Majorana masses through see-saw mechanism in these models. A triplet higgs scalar violating lepton number explicitly through its couplings to two leptons or two higgs doublets can also naturally give small Majorana masses to the left-handed neutrinos and also generate a lepton asymmetry of the univer…
We systematically compute and discuss meson and muon polarized radiative decays. Doubly differential distributions in terms of momenta and helicities of the final lepton and photon are explicitly computed. The undergoing dynamics giving rise to lepton and photon polarizations is examined and analyzed in the soft and hard region of momenta. The particular configurations made by right-handed leptons with accompanying photons are investigated and interpreted as a manifestation of the axial anomaly. The photon polarization asymmetry is evaluated. Finiteness of polarized amplitudes against infrared…
We consider a neutrino mass model where all leptonic mixing is induced by a heavy Majorana sector through the seesaw type I mechanism, while the Dirac mass matrices are diagonal. Such a pattern occurs naturally in grand unified theories. Constraints on the parameters of the models are considered and it is shown that a normal neutrino mass hierarchy is preferred. The lightest neutrino mass is typically small, leading to nonobservable rates for neutrinoless double beta decay in the normal hierarchy case.
For standard leptogenesis from the decay of singlet right-handed neutrinos, we derive source terms for the lepton asymmetry that are present in a finite density background but absent in the vacuum. These arise from cuts through the vertex correction to the decay asymmetry, where in the loop either the Higgs boson and the right-handed neutrino or the left-handed lepton and the right-handed neutrino are simultaneously on shell. We evaluate the source terms numerically and use them to calculate the lepton asymmetry for illustrative points in parameter space, where we consider only two right-hande…
Ratios of branching fractions of semileptonic B decays, $(B \to H μμ)$ over $(B \to H ee)$ with $H=K, K^*,X_s, K_0(1430), ϕ, \ldots$ are sensitive probes of lepton universality. In the Standard Model, the underlying flavor changing neutral current process $b\rightarrow s \ell \ell$ is lepton flavor universal. However models with new flavor violating physics above the weak scale can give substantial non-universal contributions. The leading contributions from such new physics can be parametrized by effective dimension six operators involving left- or right-handed quarks. We show that in the doub…
Motivated from the recent results of neutrino oscillation experiment, we investigated lepton flavor violating (LFV) processes in a SU(5) supersymmetric grand unified theory with right-handed neutrino. The current experimental upper bound for $μ\to eγ$ process gives already some constraint on the model. Correlation between $μ\to e γ$ and the SUSY contribution to the muon anomalous magnetic moment is also discussed. Future LFV experiments will give considerable impacts on this type of SUSY GUT models equipped with seesaw neutrino mass generation.
Various lepton-flavor violating (LFV) processes in the supersymmetric standard model with right-handed neutrino supermultiplets are investigated in detail. It is shown that large LFV rates are obtained when $\tan β$ is large. In the case where the mixing matrix in the lepton sector has a similar structure as the Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix and the third-generation Yukawa coupling is as large as that of the top quark, the branching ratios can be as large as $Br(μ\rightarrow eγ)\simeq 10^{-11}$ and $Br(τ\rightarrowμγ)\simeq 10^{-7}$, which are within the reach of future experiments. If we assume a …
