The GALAXIES beamline at the SOLEIL synchrotron is dedicated to inelastic x-ray scattering (IXS) and photoelectron spectroscopy (HAXPES) in the 2.3-12 keV hard x-ray range. These two techniques offer powerful, complementary methods of characterization of materials with bulk sensitivity, chemical and orbital selectivity, resonant enhancement and high resolving power. After a description of the beamline components and endstations, we address the beamline performances through a selection of recent works both in the solid and gas phases and using either IXS or HAXPES approaches. Prospects for studies on liquids are discussed.

The ANATOMIX beamline at Synchrotron SOLEIL, operational since 2018, is dedicated to hard X-ray full-field tomography techniques. Alignment of the photoelectron spectroscopy beamline at NSRL

The photoelectron spectroscopy beamline at National Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory (NSRL) is equipped with a spherical grating monochromator with the included angle of 174 deg. Novel beamline for attosecond transient reflection spectroscopy in a sequential two-foci geometry

We present an innovative beamline for extreme ultraviolet (XUV)-infrared (IR) pump-probe reflection spectroscopy in solids with attosecond temporal resolution. Characterization of the soft X-ray spectrometer PEAXIS at BESSY II

The performance of the recently commissioned spectrometer PEAXIS for resonant inelastic soft X-ray scattering (RIXS) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and its hosting beamline U41-PEAXIS at the BESSY II synchrotron are characterized. Development of hard x-ray photoelectron SPLEED-based spectrometer applicable for probing of buried magnetic layer valence states

Simultaneous ambient pressure X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and grazing incidence X-ray scattering in gas environments

We have developed an experimental system to simultaneously observe surface structure, morphology, composition, chemical state, and chemical activity for samples in gas phase environments.
