The scotogenic model proposed by Ernest Ma represents an attractive and minimal example for the generation of small Standard Model neutrino masses via radiative corrections in the dark matter sector. In this paper, we demonstrate that, in addition to neutrino masses and dark matter, the scotogenic model also allows to explain the baryon asymmetry of the Universe via low-scale leptogenesis. First, we consider the case of two right-handed neutrinos (RHNs) N_{1,2}, for which we provide an analytical argument why it is impossible to push the RHN mass scale below M_1^min ~ 10^10 GeV, which is identical to the value in standard thermal leptogenesis in the type-I seesaw scenario with the same washout strength. Then, we present a detailed study of the three-RHN case based on both an analytical and a numerical analysis. In the case of three RHNs, we obtain a lower bound on the N_1 mass of around 10 TeV. Remarkably enough, successful low-scale leptogenesis can be achieved without any degeneracy in the RHN mass spectrum. The only necessary condition is a suppression in the N_1 Yukawa couplings, which results in suppressed washout and a small active neutrino mass of around 10^-12 eV. This leads to the fascinating realization that low-scale leptogenesis in the scotogenic model can be tested in experiments that aim at measuring the absolute neutrino mass scale.
We address the possibility of realizing successful leptogenesis from dark matter annihilations in the scotogenic model of neutrino masses to explain the same order of magnitude abundance of dark matter and baryons in the present Universe. After showing that the minimal model in this category cannot satisfy all these requirements, we study a minimal extension of this model and find that the scale of leptogenesis can be as low as 5 TeV, lower than the one in vanilla leptogenesis scenario in scotogenic model along with the additional advantage of explaining the baryon-dark matter coincidence. Due…
The scotogenic type I and type III seesaw models are good candidates to explain the existence of neutrino masses and dark matter simultaneously. However, since triplet fermions have SU(2) gauge interaction, they cannot be out of equilibrium before the electroweak symmetry breaking. Thus, leptogenesis seems to be difficult within a framework of the pure type III seesaw model. Some extension seems to be required to solve this fault. A model extended by introducing a singlet fermion could be such a simple example. If the singlet fermion is in the thermal equilibrium even for its extremely small n…

We study the possibility of singlet fermion dark matter (DM) and successful leptogenesis in minimal scotogenic model which also provides a common origin of DM and light neutrino masses. In this scenario, where the standard model (SM) is extended by three gauge singlet fermions and one additional scalar doublet, all odd under an in-built $Z_2$ symmetry, the lightest singlet fermion which also happens to be the lightest $Z_2$ odd particle, can be either thermal or non-thermal DM candidate depending upon the strength of its couplings with SM leptons and the $Z_2$ odd scalar doublet. In both the s…
We have studied the scotogenic model proposed by Ernest Ma, which is an extension of the Standard Model by three singlet right-handed neutrinos and a scalar doublet. This model proposes that the light neutrinos acquire a non-zero mass at 1-loop level. In this work, the realisation of the scotogenic model is done by using discrete symmetries $A_{4}\times Z_{4}$ in which the non-zero $θ_{13}$ is produced by assuming a non-degeneracy in the loop factor. Considering different lepton flavor violating(LFV) processes such as $l_α\longrightarrow l_βγ$ and $l_α\longrightarrow 3l_β$, their impact on neu…
We explore the phenomenology of the Georgi-Machacek model extended with two Higgs doublets and vector fermion doublets invariant under $SU(2)_L \times U(1)_Y\times \mathcal {Z}_4 \times \mathcal {Z}_2$. The $\mathcal {Z}_4$ symmetry is broken spontaneously while the imposed $\mathcal {Z}_2$ symmetry forbids triplet fields to generate any vacuum expectation value and leading to an inert dark sector providing a viable candidate for dark matter and generate neutrino mass radiatively. Another interesting feature of the model is leptogenesis arising from decay of vector-like fermions. A detailed st…
We study the possibility of realising leptogenesis from three body decay, dark matter (DM) and neutrino mass in a minimal framework. We propose a first of its kind model to implement the idea of leptogenesis from three body decay where CP asymmetry arises from interference of multiple $1 \rightarrow 3$ diagrams using resummed propagators along with DM. The standard model is extended by three heavy singlet fermions, one scalar singlet and one scalar doublet with appropriate discrete charges. Two of these singlet fermions not only play non-trivial roles in generating light neutrino mass at radia…
We study the minimal scotogenic model constituting an additional inert Higgs doublet and three sets of right-handed neutrinos. The scotogenic model connects dark matter, baryon asymmetry of the Universe and neutrino oscillation data. In our work, we obtain baryogenesis by the decay of TeV scale heavy neutral singlet fermion ($N_{2}$). We primarily focus on the intermediate-mass region of dark matter within $M_W<M_{DM}\le550$ GeV, where observed relic density is suppressed due to co-annihilation processes. We consider thermal as well as the non-thermal approach of dark matter production and exp…
We consider the scotogenic model, where the standard model (SM) is extended by a scalar doublet and three $Z_2$ odd SM-singlet fermions ($N_i$, $i=1,2,3$), all odd under an additional $Z_2$ symmetry, as a unifying framework for simultaneous explanation of inflation, dark matter, baryogenesis and neutrino mass. The inert doublet is coupled nonminimally to gravity and forms the inflaton. The lightest neutral particle of this doublet later becomes the dark matter candidate. Baryogenesis is achieved via leptogenesis by the decay of $N_1$ to SM leptons and the inert doublet particles. Neutrino mass…
In our recent work we identify the hybrid textures of neutrino mass matrix which simultaneously account for dark matter (DM) and neutrinoless double beta decay ($0νββ$). We also obtained the bounds on dark matter mass and effective Majorana mass $|M_{ee}|$. In this work we look for those hybrid textures which altogether accounts for DM, $0νββ$ and leptogenesis. We have found correlation of baryon asymmetry of universe $Y$ with dark matter mass $M_1$ and effective Majorana mass $|M_{ee}|$. We use experimental bounds on relic density of dark matter ($Ωh^2$) and baryon asymmetry of universe to id…
We consider a simple extension of the standard model, which could give a solution to its $CP$ issues through both the Peccei-Quinn mechanism and the Nelson-Barr mechanism. Its low energy effective model coincides with the scotogenic model in the leptonic sector. Although leptogenesis is known not to work well at lower reheating temperature than $10^9$ GeV in simple seesaw and scotogenic frameworks, such low reheating temperature could be consistent with both neutrino mass generation and thermal leptogenesis via newly introduced fields without referring to the resonance effect. An alternative d…
We study the possibility of low scale leptogenesis along with dark matter (DM) in the presence of primordial black holes (PBH). For a common setup to study both leptogenesis and DM we consider the minimal scotogenic model which also explains light neutrino mass at radiative level. While PBH in the mass range of $0.1-10^5$ g can, in principle, affect leptogenesis, the required initial PBH fraction usually leads to overproduction of scalar doublet DM whose thermal freeze-out occurs before PBH evaporation. PBH can lead to non-thermal source of leptogenesis as well as dilution of thermally generat…
We propose a novel and minimal framework where a light scalar field can give rise to dark matter (DM) self-interactions, while enhancing the CP symmetry required for successful baryon asymmetry of the Universe via leptogenesis route. For demonstration purpose we choose to work in a scotogenic seesaw scenario where the lightest among the right handed neutrinos (RHN), introduced for generating light neutrino masses radiatively, play the role of DM while the heavier two can play non-trivial roles in generating DM relic as well as lepton asymmetry. While dark matter self-interactions mediated by a…
We propose a flavour theory of leptons implementing an $A_4$ family symmetry. Our scheme provides a simple way to derive trimaximal neutrino mixing from first principles, leading to simple and testable predictions for neutrino mixing and CP violation. Dark matter mediates neutrino mass generation, as in the simplest scotogenic model.
The scotogenic model can simultaneously account for the presence of dark matter and the origin of neutrino masses. We assume that the flavor neutrino mass matrix has one zero element and Yukawa matrix elements are real in the scotogenic model. It turns out that only one pattern of the flavor neutrino mass matrix in the one-zero-texture scheme within the scotogenic model is viable with the observed neutrino oscillation data, the relic abundance of the dark matter, and the upper limit of the branching ratio of the $μ\rightarrow e γ$ process.
We propose a simple extension of the standard model where neutrinos get naturally small "scotogenic" Dirac masses from an unbroken gauged $B-L$ symmetry, ensuring dark matter stability. The associated gauge boson gets mass through the Stueckelberg mechanism. Two scenarios are identified, and the resulting phenomenology briefly sketched.
We propose the simplest TeV-scale scotogenic extension of the original 3-3-1 theory, where dark matter stability is linked to the Dirac nature of neutrinos, which results from an unbroken $B-L$ gauge symmetry. The new gauge bosons get masses through the interplay of spontaneous symmetry breaking à la Higgs and the Stueckelberg mechanism.
In the context of the $\mathrm{SU(3)_c \otimes SU(3)_L \otimes U(1)_X \otimes U(1)_{N}}$ (3-3-1-1) extension of the standard model, we show how the spontaneous breaking of the gauge symmetry gives rise to a residual symmetry which accounts for dark matter stability and small neutrino masses in a scotogenic fashion. As a special feature, the gauge structure implies that one of the light neutrinos is massless and, as a result, there is a lower bound for the $0νββ$ decay rate.
The standard model of quarks and leptons is extended to include the gauge symmetry $U(1)_χ$ which comes from $SO(10) \to SU(5) \times U(1)_χ$. The radiative generation of Dirac neutrino masses through dark matter is discussed in two examples. One allows for light Dirac fermion dark matter. The other allows for self-interacting scalar dark matter with a light scalar mediator which decays only to two neutrinos.
The use of extra space-time dimensions provides a promising approach to the flavour problem. The chosen compactification of a 6-dimensional orbifold implies a remnant family symmetry $A_4$. This makes interesting predictions for quark and lepton masses, for neutrino oscillations and neutrinoless double beta decay, providing also a very good global description of all flavour observables. Due to an auxiliary $\mathbb{Z}_4$ symmetry, we implement a scotogenic Majorana neutrino mass generation mechanism with a viable WIMP dark matter candidate.
Radiative Dirac neutrino masses and their mixing are linked to dark matter through the non-Abelian discrete symmetry $A_5$ of the 4-dimensional pentatope, softly broken to $A_4$ of the 3-dimensional tetrahedron. This unifying understanding of neutrino family structure from dark matter is made possible through the interplay of gauge symmetry, renormalizable Lagrangian field theory, and softly broken discrete symmetries. Dark neutral fermions are produced through Higgs decay.
The Scotogenic model is a radiative neutrino mass model able to induce Majorana neutrino masses at the 1-loop level and simultaneously include a dark matter candidate. In this work, we generalize the original Scotogenic model to arbitrary numbers of generations of the Scotogenic states. After that, we present the light neutrino mass matrix, with some details of its derivation, and provide a useful approximate expression as well. Finally, we numerically solve the Renormalization Group Equations to explore the high-energy behavior of the model.
Building up on previous work we propose a Dark Matter (DM) model with gauged matter parity and dynamical gauge coupling unification, driven by the same physics responsible for scotogenic neutrino mass generation. Our construction is based on the extended gauge group \3311, whose spontaneous breaking leaves a residual conserved matter parity, $M_{P}$, stabilizing the DM particle candidates of the model. A key role is played by the Majorana ${\rm SU(3)_{L}}$-octet leptons, in allowing successful gauge coupling unification and one-loop scotogenic neutrino mass generation. Theoretical consistency …
We propose a minimal extention of the Standard Model where neutrino masses are generated radiatively at one-loop level via Scotogenic scanario. The model is augmented with $A_4$ modular symmetry as a scotogenic and flavor symmetry. With minimal number of parameters, the model makes predictions for neutrino oscillation data, Majorana and Dirac phases, dark matter characteristics, and neutrinoless double beta decay.
In this letter, we propose an extension of the scotogenic model where singlet Majorana particle can be dark matter (DM) without the need of a highly suppressed scalar coupling of the order $O(10^{-10})$. For that, the SM is extended with three singlet Majorana fermions, an inert scalar doublet, and two (a complex and a real) singlet scalars, with a global $Z_{4}$ symmetry that is spontaneously broken into $Z_{2}$ at a scale higher than the electroweak one by the vev of the complex singlet scalar. In this setup, the smallness of neutrino mass is achieved via the cancellation between three diagr…
If the leptoquarks proposed to account for the intriguing anomalies observed in the $B$-meson decays, $R_{D^{(\ast)}}$ and $R_{K^{(\ast)}}$, as well as in the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon, $(g-2)_μ$, can be embedded into the scotogenic Dirac neutrino model, all these flavor anomalies, together with the origin of neutrino masses and the nature of dark matter, would be potentially addressed in a unified picture. Among the minimal seesaw, one-loop, and two-loop realizations of the dimension-4 effective operator $\mathcal{L}_{4}$ for the Dirac neutrino masses, we show that plenty of diagr…
We consider a model with three Higgs doublet in a discrete $B - L\times \mathbb{Z}_3$ discrete symmetries. Two of the scalar doublets are inert due to the $\mathbb{Z}_3$ symmetry. We calculated all the mass spectra in the scalar and lepton sectors and accommodate the leptonic mixing matrix as well.
Modular symmetries have been impeccable in neutrino and quark sectors. This motivated us, therefore, to propose a variant of scotogenic model based on modular $A_4$ symmetry to realize the neutrino mass generation at one-loop level through radiative mechanism. Alongside, the lepton flavour violating process $μ\to e γ$ and the muon $g-2$ anomaly are also addressed. The lightest Majorana fermions turn out to be potential dark matter candidates, made stable by suitable assignment of modular weights. The relic density of the same has been computed with annihilations mediated by inert scalars and n…
Non-zero neutrino mass and dark matter cast a shadow over the success of the Standard Model (SM) of Particle Physics. The most straightforward extension of the SM to explain these two phenomena is the Scotogenic model, where the SM particle spectrum extends with three isospin singlet right-handed neutrinos and one doublet scalar while all of these being odd under $Z_2$ symmetry. In this work, we have considered the lightest right-handed neutrino as the dark matter candidate and freeze-out mechanism for producing observed dark matter relic density. The observed dark matter relic density, neutri…
We construct a scotogenic Majorana neutrino mass model in a gauged $U(1)_X$ extension of the standard model, where the mass of the gauge boson and the unbroken gauge symmetry, which leads to a stable dark matter (DM), can be achieved through the Stueckelberg mechanism. It is found that the simplest version of the extended model consists of the two inert-Higgs doublets and one vector-like singlet fermion. In addition to the Majorana neutrino mass, we study the lepton flavor violation (LFV) processes, such as $\ell_i \to \ell_j γ$, $\ell_i \to 3 \ell_j$, $μ-e$ conversion rate in nucleus, and muo…
We investigate a resonant leptogenesis scenario by quasi-degenerate right-handed neutrinos which have TeV-scale masses. Especially, we consider the case when two right-handed neutrinos are responsible to leptogenesis and the seesaw mechanism for active neutrino masses, and assume that the CP violation occurs only in the mixing matrix of active neutrinos. In this case the sign of the baryon asymmetry depends on the Dirac and Majorana CP phases as well as the mixing angle of the right-handed neutrinos. It is shown how the yield of the baryon asymmetry correlates with these parameters. In additio…
We construct a scotogenic neutrino mass model introducing large $SU(2)_L$ multiplet fields without adding an extra symmetry. We have introduced extra scalar fields such as a septet, quintet and quartet where we make the vacuum expectation value of quartet scalar to be zero while septet and quintet develop non-zero ones. Then the neutrino mass is generated at one-loop level by introducing quintet fermion. We analyze the neutrino mass matrix taking constraints from lepton flavor violation into account and discuss collider physics regarding charged fermions from large multiplet fields. We have an…
As the first topic, we propose a new parametrization of the complex Yukawa matrix in the scotogenic model. The new parametrization is compatible with the particle data group parametrization of the neutrino sector. Some analytical expressions for the neutrino masses with the new parametrization are shown. As the second topic, we consider the phenomenology of the socotogenic model with the one-zero-textures of the neutrino flavor mass matrix. One of the six patterns of the neutrino mass matrix is favorable for the real Yukawa matrix. On the other hand, for the complex Yukawa matrix, five of the …
In this paper, we propose a scotogenic model of neutrino masses with flavor-dependent $U(1)_{B-3L_α}(α=e, μ, τ)$ gauge symmetry, in which neutrinos are generated at one-loop level and a fermion dark matter is naturally accommodated. In this model, three one-zero-texture structures of neutrino mass matrix, denoted as patterns A, B and C, are successfully realized by appropriate charge assignment for inert fermions and scalar fields. For each predicted textures, a detailed numerical analysis is carried out to find the allowed regions of neutrino mixing and masses. We find three scenarios (A for …
A simple extension of Ma's approach in a scotogenic model is studied for the purpose of simultaneously interpreting the neutrino data and the excess of muon anomalous magnetic moment (muon $g-2$). The feasible minimal extension is to add an $Z_2$-odd vector-like lepton doublet to the Ma's model. It is found that in addition to the neutrino data, the strict constraints on the relevant parameters are from the electroweak oblique parameters and the induced lepton-flavor violation processes, such as $\ell_i \to \ell_j γ$ and $\ell_i \to \ell^-_j \ell^-_j \ell^+_j$. Performing parameter scan, we nu…
In this work we consider a minimal version of the scotogenic model capable of accounting for an electron electric dipole moment within experimental sensitivity reach in addition to providing a dark matter candidate and radiatively generating neutrino masses. The Standard Model is minimally extended by two sterile fermions and one inert scalar doublet, both having odd parity, while the Standard Model particles have an even parity, imposed by a Z2 symmetry. The neutrino Yukawa couplings provide additional sources of CP violation, and thus a possible impact on electric dipole moments of charged l…
