We deduce mixed quasi-norm estimates of Lebesgue types on semi-continuous convolutions between sequences and functions which may be periodic or possess a weaker form of periodicity in certain directions. In these directions, the Lebesgue quasi-norms are applied on the period instead of the whole axes.
Let $X$ be a Banach space and $μ$ a probability measure. A set $K \subseteq L^1(μ,X)$ is said to be a $δ\mathcal{S}$-set if it is uniformly integrable and for every $δ>0$ there is a weakly compact set $W \subseteq X$ such that $μ(f^{-1}(W)) \geq 1-δ$ for every $f\in K$. This is a sufficient, but in general non necessary, condition for relative weak compactness in $L^1(μ,X)$. We say that $X$ has property ($δ\mathcal{S}_μ$) if every relatively weakly compact subset of $L^1(μ,X)$ is a $δ\mathcal{S}$-set. In this paper we study $δ\mathcal{S}$-sets and Banach spaces having property ($δ\mathcal{S}_μ…
Let $Q$ be a fundamental domain of some full-rank lattice in ${\Bbb R}^d$ and let $μ$ and $ν$ be two positive Borel measures on ${\Bbb R}^d$ such that the convolution $μ\astν$ is a multiple of $χ_Q$. We consider the problem as to whether or not both measures must be spectral (i.e. each of their respective associated $L^2$ space admits an orthogonal basis of exponentials) and we show that this is the case when $Q = [0,1]^d$. This theorem yields a large class of examples of spectral measures which are either absolutely continuous, singularly continuous or purely discrete spectral measures. In ad…
In this article we investigate an action of some operators (not necessary to be linear or sublinear) in the so-called (Bilateral) Grand Lebesgue Spaces (GLS), in particular, double weight Fourier operators, maximal operators, imbedding operators etc. We intend to calculate an exact or at least weak exact values for correspondent imbedding constant. We obtain also interpolation theorems for GLS spaces. We construct several examples to show the exactness of offered estimations. In two last sections we introduce anisotropic Grand Lebesgue Spaces, obtain some estimates for Fourier two-weight inequa…
Let $G$ a locally compact abelian group with Haar measure $μ$ and let $1<p<\infty. $ In the present paper we determine necessary and sufficient conditions on $G$ for the grand Lebesgue space $ L^{p),θ}(G)$ to be a Banach algebra under convolution.Later we characterize the multipliers of the grand Lebesgues, $L^{p,)θ}(G)$ and the small Lebesgue spaces $L^{(P'θ}$, where $\frac{1}{p}+\frac{1}{p'}=1$
We introduce a so-called restricted, in particular, discrete version of (Banach) Grand Lebesgue Spaces (GLS), investigate its properties and derive the conditions of coincidence with the classical ones. We show also that these spaces forms also a Banach algebra relative the convolution operation on the unimodular local compact topological group equipped with Haar's measure, alike in the complete GLS case.
We establish sharp convolution and multiplication estimates in weighted Lebesgue, Fourier Lebesgue and modulation spaces. Especially we recover some known results.
In this paper, we introduce and analyze several different notions of Weyl almost periodic functions and Weyl ergodic components in Lebesgue spaces with variable exponent $L^{p(x)}.$ We investigate the invariance of (asymptotical) Weyl almost periodicity with variable exponent under the actions of convolution products, providing also some illustrative applications to abstract fractional differential inclusions in Banach spaces. The introduced classes of generalized (asymptotically) Weyl almost periodic functions are new even in the case that the function $p(x)$ has a constant value $p\geq 1,$ p…
The notion of weakly monotone functions extends the classical definition of monotone function, that can be traced back to H.Lebesgue. It was introduced, in the setting of Sobolev spaces, by J.Manfredi, and thoroughly investigated in the more general framework of Orlicz-Sobolev spaces by diverse authors, including T.Iwaniec, J.Kauhanen, P.Koskela, J.Maly, J.Onninen, X.Zhong. The present paper complements and augments the available theory of pointwise regularity properties of weakly monotone functions in Orlicz-Sobolev spaces. In particular, a variant is proposed in a customary condition ensurin…
We discuss continuity of the twisted convolution on (weighted) Fourier modulation spaces. We use these results to establish continuity results for the twisted convolution on Lebesgue spaces. For example we prove that if $ω$ is an appropriate weight and $1\le p\le 2$, then $L^p_{(ω)}$ is an algebra under the twisted convolution.
Let $X(\mathbb{R})$ be a separable Banach function space such that the Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator $M$ is bounded on $X(\mathbb{R})$ and on its associate space $X'(\mathbb{R})$. Suppose $a$ is a Fourier multiplier on the space $X(\mathbb{R})$. We show that the Fourier convolution operator $W^0(a)$ with symbol $a$ is compact on the space $X(\mathbb{R})$ if and only if $a=0$. This result implies that nontrivial Fourier convolution operators on Lebesgue spaces with Muckenhoupt weights are never compact.
In this paper we focus on the relation between Riemann integrability and weak continuity. A Banach space $X$ is said to have the weak Lebesgue property if every Riemann integrable function from $[0,1]$ into $X$ is weakly continuous almost everywhere. We prove that the weak Lebesgue property is stable under $\ell_1$-sums and obtain new examples of Banach spaces with and without this property. Furthermore, we characterize Dunford-Pettis operators in terms of Riemann integrability and provide a quantitative result about the size of the set of $τ$-continuous non Riemann integrable functions, with …
For $μ>β>0$, the generalized Stieltjes operators $$ \mathcal{S}_{β,μ} f(t):={t^{μ-β}}\int_0^\infty {s^{β-1}\over (s+t)^μ}f(s)ds, \qquad t>0, $$ defined on Sobolev spaces $\mathcal{T}_p^{(α)}(t^α)$ (where $α\ge 0$ is the fractional order of derivation and these spaces are embedded in $L^p(\RR^+)$ for $p\ge 1$) are studied in detail. If $0 < β- \pp < μ$, then operators $\mathcal{S}_{β,μ}$ are bounded (and we compute their operator norms which depend on $p$); commute and factorize with generalized Cesáro operator on $\mathcal{T}_p^{(α)}(t^α)$ . We calculate and represent explicitly their spectrum…
We give a necessary and sufficient condition for non-local functionals on vector-valued Lebesgue spaces to be weakly sequentially lower semi-continuous. Here a non-local functional shall have the form of a double integral of a density which depends on the function values at two different points. The characterisation we get is essentially that the density has to be convex in one variable if we integrate over the other one with an arbitrary test function in it. Moreover, we show that this condition is in the case of non-local functionals on real-valued Lebesgue spaces (up to some equivalence in …
The paper extends an earlier result of G.V.~Kalachev and the author (Sb. Math. 2019 or arXiv:1712.08836) on the existence of a maximizer of convolution operator acting between two Lebesgue spaces on $R^n$ with kernel from some $L_q$, $1<q<\infty$. In view of Lieb's result of 1983 about the existence of an extremizer for the Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality it is natural to ask whether a convolution maximizer exists for any kernel from weak $L_q$. The answer in the negative was given by Lieb in the above citation. In this paper we prove the existence of maximizers for kernels from a slightly…
For all the convolution algebras $L^1[0,1),\ L^1_{\text{loc}}$ and $A(ω)=\bigcap_n L^1(ω_n)$, the derivations are of the form $D_μ f=Xf*μ$ for suitable measures $μ$, where $(Xf)(t)=tf(t)$. We describe the (weakly) compact as well as the (weakly) Montel derivations on these algebras in terms of properties of the measure $μ$. Moreover, for all these algebras we show that the extension of $D_μ$ to a natural dual space is weak-star continuous.
Necessary and sufficient oscillation conditions are given for a weakly convergent sequence (resp. relatively weakly compact set) in the Bochner-Lebesgue space $\l1$ to be norm convergent (resp. relatively norm compact), thus extending the known results for $\rl1$. Similarly, necessary and sufficient oscillation conditions are given to pass from weak to limited (and also to Pettis-norm) convergence in $\l1$. It is shown that tightness is a necessary and sufficient condition to pass from limited to strong convergence. Other implications between several modes of convergence in $\l1$ are also stud…
Mellin convolution equations acting in Bessel potential spaces are considered. The study is based upon two results. The first one concerns the interaction of Mellin convolutions and Bessel potential operators (BPOs). In contrast to the Fourier convolutions, BPOs and Mellin convolutions do not commute and we derive an explicit formula for the corresponding commutator in the case of Mellin convolutions with meromorphic symbols. These results are used in the lifting of the Mellin convolution operators acting on Bessel potential spaces up to operators on Lebesgue spaces. The operators arising belo…
We prove some results on weakly almost square Banach spaces and their relatives. On the one hand, we discuss weak almost squareness in the setting of Banach function spaces. More precisely, let $(Ω,Σ)$ be a measurable space, let $E$ be a Banach lattice and let $ν:Σ\to E^+$ be a non-atomic countably additive measure having relatively norm compact range. Then the space $L_1(ν)$ is weakly almost square. This result applies to some abstract Cesàro function spaces. Similar arguments show that the Lebesgue-Bochner space $L_1(μ,Y)$ is weakly almost square for any Banach space~$Y$ and for any non-atom…
We consider modulation space and spaces of Schatten-von Neumann symbols where corresponding pseudo-differential operators map one Hilbert space to another. We prove Hölder-Young and Young type results for such spaces under dilated convolutions and multiplications. We also prove continuity properties for such spaces under the twisted convolution, and the Weyl product. These results lead to continuity properties for twisted convolutions on Lebesgue spaces, e.{}g. $L^p_{(ω)}$ is a twisted convolution algebra when $1\le p\le 2$ and appropriate weight $ω$.
We characterize the dual spaces of the generalized Hardy spaces defined by replacing Lebesgue quasi-norms by Wiener amalgam ones. In these generalized Hardy spaces, we prove that some classical linear operators such as Calderón-Zygmund, convolution and Riesz potential operators are bounded.
It is shown that the collection of weakly almost periodic functionals on the convolution algebra of a commutative Hopf von Neumann algebra is a C$^*$-algebra. This implies that the weakly almost periodic functionals on $M(G)$, the measure algebra of a locally compact group $G$, is a C$^*$-subalgebra of $M(G)^* = C_0(G)^{**}$. The proof builds upon a factorisation result, due to Young and Kaiser, for weakly compact module maps. The main technique is to adapt some of the theory of corepresentations to the setting of general reflexive Banach spaces.
The statements on the BIBO stability of continuous-time convolution systems found in engineering textbooks are often either too vague (because of lack of hypotheses) or mathematically incorrect. What is more troubling is that they usually exclude the identity operator. The purpose of this note is to clarify the issue while presenting some fixes. In particular, we show that a linear shift-invariant system is BIBO-stable in the $L_\infty$-sense if and only if its impulse response is included in the space of bounded Radon measures, which is a superset of $L_1(\mathbb{R})$ (Lebesgue's space of abs…
We give sufficient conditions on the Lebesgue exponents for compositions of odd numbers of pseudo-differential operators with symbols in modulation spaces. As a byproduct, we obtain sufficient conditions for twisted convolutions of odd numbers of factors to be bounded on Wiener amalgam spaces.
A Banach space $X$ is said to have property ($μ^s$) if every weak$^*$-null sequence in $X^*$ admits a subsequence such that all of its subsequences are Cesàro convergent to $0$ with respect to the Mackey topology. This is stronger than the so-called property (K) of Kwapień. We prove that property $(μ^s)$ holds for every subspace of a Banach space which is strongly generated by an operator with Banach-Saks adjoint (e.g. a strongly super weakly compactly generated space). The stability of property $(μ^s)$ under $\ell^p$-sums is discussed. For a family $\mathcal{A}$ of relatively weakly compact s…
Convolution semigroups of states on a quantum group form the natural noncommutative analogue of convolution semigroups of probability measures on a locally compact group. Here we initiate a theory of weakly continuous convolution semigroups of functionals on a C*-bialgebra, the noncommutative counterpart of locally compact semigroup. On locally compact quantum groups we obtain a bijective correspondence between such convolution semigroups and a class of C_0-semigroups of maps which we characterise. On C*-bialgebras of discrete type we show that all weakly continuous convolution semigroups of s…
In this paper, we study the properties of the Eberlein convolution of measures and introduce a twisted version of it. For functions we show that the twisted Eberlein convolution can be seen as a translation invariant function-valued inner product. We study its regularity properties and show its existence on suitable sets of functions. For translation bounded measures we show that the (twisted) Eberlein convolution always exists along subsequences of the given sequence, and is a weakly almost periodic and Fourier transformable measure. We prove that if one of the two measures is mean almost per…
If $F$ is a continuous function on the real line and $f=F'$ is its distributional derivative then the continuous primitive integral of distribution $f$ is $\int_a^bf=F(b)-F(a)$. This integral contains the Lebesgue, Henstock--Kurzweil and wide Denjoy integrals. Under the Alexiewicz norm the space of integrable distributions is a Banach space. We define the convolution $f\ast g(x)=\intinf f(x-y)g(y) dy$ for $f$ an integrable distribution and $g$ a function of bounded variation or an $L^1$ function. Usual properties of convolutions are shown to hold: commutativity, associativity, commutation with…
Given a graph $H$ on vertex set $\{1,2,\cdots, n\}$ and a function $f:[0,1]^2 \rightarrow \mathbb{R}$, define \begin{align*} \|f\|_{H}:=\left\vert\int \prod_{ij\in E(H)}f(x_i,x_j)dμ^{|V(H)|}\right\vert^{1/|E(H)|}, \end{align*} where $μ$ is the Lebesgue measure on $[0,1]$. We say that $H$ is norming if $\|\cdot\|_H$ is a semi-norm. A similar notion $\|\cdot\|_{r(H)}$ is defined by $\|f\|_{r(H)}:=\||f|\|_{H}$ and $H$ is said to be weakly norming if $\|\cdot\|_{r(H)}$ is a norm. Classical results show that weakly norming graphs are necessarily bipartite. In the other direction, Hatami showed that…
Let $\vec{p}\in(0,\infty)^n$ and $A$ be a general expansive matrix on $\mathbb{R}^n$. In this article, via the non-tangential grand maximal function, the authors first introduce the anisotropic mixed-norm Hardy spaces $H_A^{\vec{p}}(\mathbb{R}^n)$ associated with $A$ and then establish their radial or non-tangential maximal function characterizations. Moreover, the authors characterize $H_A^{\vec{p}}(\mathbb{R}^n)$, respectively, by means of atoms, finite atoms, Lusin area functions, Littlewood-Paley $g$-functions or $g_λ^\ast$-functions via first establishing an anisotropic Fefferman-Stein ve…
We prove a new criterion of weak hypercyclicity of a bounded linear operator on a Banach space. Applying this criterion, we solve few open questions. Namely, we show that if $G$ is a region of $\C$ bounded by a smooth Jordan curve $Γ$ such that $G$ does not meet the unit ball but $Γ$ intersects the unit circle in a non-trivial arc, then $M^*$ is a weakly hypercyclic operator on $H^2(G)$, where $M$ is the multiplication by the argument operator $Mf(z)=zf(z)$. We also prove that if $g$ is a non-constant function from the Hardy space $H^\infty(\D)$ on the unit disk $\D$ such that $g(\D)\cap\D=\va…
