The charged particles produced in heavy ion collisions consist of two parts: One is from the freeze-out of hot and dense matter formed in collisions. The other is from the leading particles. In this paper, the hot and dense matter is assumed to expand according to the hydrodynamic model including phase transition and decouples into particles via the prescription of Cooper-Frye. The leading particles are as usual supposed to have Gaussian rapidity distributions with the number equaling that of participants. The investigations of this paper show that, unlike low energy situations, the leading particles are essential in describing the pseudorapidity distributions of charged particles produced in high energy heavy ion collisions. This might be due to the different transparencies of nuclei at different energies.
The charged particles produced in nucleus-nucleus collisions are divided into two parts. One is from the hot and dense matter created in collisions. The other is from leading particles. The hot and dense matter is assumed to expand according to unified hydrodynamics and freezes out into charged particles from a space-like hypersurface with a fixed proper time of Tau_FO.The leading particles are conventionally taken as the particles which inherit the quantum numbers of colliding nucleons and carry off most of incident energy. The rapidity distributions of the charged particles from these two pa…
The charged particles produced in nucleus-nucleus collisions are classified into two parts,One is from the hot and dense matter created in collisions. The other is from leading particles. The hot and dense matter is assumed to expand and generate particles according to BJP hydrodynamics, a theory put forward by A. Bialas, R. A. Janik and R. Peschanski. The leading particles are argued to possess a Gaussian rapidity distribution with the normalization constant equaling the number of participants. A comparison is made between the theoretical results and the experimental measurements performed by…
We discuss a recently found family of exact and analytic, finite and accelerating, 1+1 dimensional solutions of perfect fluid relativistic hydrodynamics to describe the pseudorapidity densities and longitudinal HBT-radii and to estimate the lifetime parameter and the initial energy density of the expanding fireball in Au+Au collisions at RHIC with $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=130$ GeV and $200$ GeV colliding energies. From these exact solutions of relativistic hydrodynamics, we derive a simple and powerful formula to describe the pseudorapidity density distributions in high energy proton-proton and heavy io…
A known class of analytic, exact, accelerating solutions of prefect relativistic hydrodynamics with longitudinal acceleration is utilized to describe results on the pseudorapidity distributions for different collision systems. These results include $dN/dη$ measured in p+p, Cu+Cu, Au+Au, and Pb+Pb collisions at RHIC and LHC, in a broad centrality range. Going beyond the traditional Bjorken model, from the accelerating hydrodynamic description we determine the initial energy density and other thermodynamic quantities in those collisions.
The charged particles produced in nucleus-nucleus collisions come from leading particles and those frozen out from the hot and dense matter created in collisions. The leading particles are conventionally supposed having Gaussian rapidity distributions normalized to the number of participants. The hot and dense matter is assumed to expand according to the unified hydrodynamics, a hydro model which unifies the features of Landau and Hwa-Bjorken model, and freeze out into charged particles from a space-like hypersurface with a proper time of Tau_FO . The rapidity distribution of this part of char…
A known exact and accelerating solution of relativistic hydrodynamics for perfect fluids is utilized to describe pseudorapidity densities of $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 5.02$ TeV Pb$+$Pb and $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV $p$$+$$p$ collisions at LHC. We evaluate a conjectured initial energy densities $ε_{\rm corr}$ in these collisions, and compare them to Bjorken's initial energy density estimates, and to results for Pb$+$Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 2.76$ TeV and $p$$+$$p$ collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 7$ and 8 TeV.
The pseudorapidity distributions of charged particles measured in p+p($\rm \overline{p}$) collisions for energies ranging from $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=23.6$ GeV to 13 TeV, d+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=200$ GeV, p+Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}= 5.02$ TeV and A+A collisions at RHIC and LHC are investigated in the fireball model with Tsallis thermodynamics. We assume that the rapidity axis is populated with fireballs following q-Gaussian distribution and the charged particles follow the Tsallis distribution in the fireball. The theoretical results are in good agreement with the experimental data fo…
Pseudorapidity distributions of the produced charged particles in nucleus-nucleus collisions at low energies on the BNL Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider
The centrality dependence of pseudorapidity distributions for charged particles produced in Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=130$ GeV and 200 GeV at RHIC, and in Pb+Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=2.76$ TeV at LHC are investigated in the fireball model, assuming that the rapidity axis is populated with fireballs following one distribution function. We assume that the particles in the fireball fulfill the Tsallis distribution. The theoretical results are compared with the experimental measurements and a good agreement is found. Using these results, the pseudorapidity distributions of charged …
Investigations have shown that the collective motion not only appears in nucleus-nucleus but also in p-p collisions. The best tool for depicting such collective motion is relativistic hydrodynamics. In this paper, the collective motion is assumed obeying the hydro model which integrates the features of Landau and Hwa-Bjorken theory and is one of a very few analytically solvable models. The fluid is then supposed freezing out into charged particles from a time-like hypersurface with a fixed time of t_FO . The researches of present paper show that this part of charged particles together with lea…
The charged-particle's final state spectrum is derived from an analytic perturbative solution for the relativistic viscous hydrodynamics. By taking into account the longitudinal acceleration effect in relativistic viscous hydrodynamics, the pseudorapidity spectrum describes well the nucleus-nucleus colliding systems at RHIC and LHC. Based on both the extracted longitudinal acceleration parameters $λ^{*}$ and a phenomenological description of the $λ^{*}$, the charged-particle's pseudorapidity distributions for $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 5.44 TeV Xe+Xe collisions are computed from the final state express…
We study the initial three-dimensional spatial configuration of the quark-gluon plasma produced in relativistic heavy-ion collisions using centrality and rapidity-dependent measurements of charged particle pseudorapidity densities and two-particle correlations. A cumulant-generating function is used to parametrize the rapidity dependence of local entropy deposition and extend arbitrary boost-invariant initial conditions to nonzero beam rapidities. The model is compared to p+Pb and Pb+Pb single-particle distributions and systematically optimized using Bayesian parameter estimation to extract hi…
Particle production in relativistic $pp$($\overline{p}$) and $AA$ collisions at RHIC and LHC energies with Tsallis statistics using the two-cylindrical multisource thermal model
We analyze correlations between the event-plane angles in different intervals of pseudorapidity within the 3+1-dimensional viscous hydrodynamics with the Glauber-model initial conditions. As predicted earlier, the fluctuations in the particle production mechanism in the earliest stage, together with asymmetry of the emission profiles in pseudorapidity from the forward- and backward going wounded nucleons, lead to the torque effect, namely, decorrelation of the event-plane angles in distant pseudorapidity bins. We use two- or three-bin measures of correlation functions to quantify the effect, w…
It is widely believed that the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) might be formed in the current heavy ion collisions. It is also widely recognized that the relativistic hydrodynamics is one of the best tools for describing the process of expansion and particlization of QGP. In this paper, by taking into account the effects of thermal motion, a hydrodynamic model including phase transition from QGP state to hadronic state is used to analyze the rapidity and transverse momentum distributions of identified charged particles produced in heavy ion collisions. A comparison is made between the theoretical res…
In p-p collisions, the produced charge particles consist of two leading particles and those frozen out from the hot and dense matter created in collisions. The two leading particles are respectively in the projectile and target fragmentation region, which, in this paper, are conventionally supposed to have Gaussian rapidity distributions. The hot and dense matter is assumed to expand according to the unified hydrodynamics, a hydro model which unifies the features of Landau and Hwa-Bjorken model, and freeze out into charged particles from a space-like hypersurface with a fixed proper time of Ta…
We demonstrate by explicit calculations in 3+1 dimensional viscous relativistic fluid dynamics how two-particle pseudorapidity correlation functions in heavy ion collisions at the LHC and RHIC depend on the number of particle producing sources and the transport properties of the produced medium. In particular, we present results for the Legendre coefficients of the two-particle pseudorapidity correlation function in Pb+Pb collisions at 2760 GeV and Au+Au collisions at 200 GeV from viscous hydrodynamics with three dimensionally fluctuating initial conditions. Our results suggest that these coef…
The centrality dependence of pseudorapidity density of charged particles ($ dN_{ch}/dη$) in $Cu+Cu$ ($Au+Au$) collisions at RHIC energy of $ \sqrt{s_{_{\rm NN}}}=22.4$ , $62.4 $ and $200$ ($19.6$, $62.4$ and $200$) GeV, is investigated within an improved HIJING code. The standard HIJING model is enhanced by a prescription for collective nucleon-nucleon ($NN$) interactions and more modern parton distribution functions. The collective $NN$-interactions are used to induce both cascade and nucleon shadowing effects. We find collective cascade broadens the pseudorapidity distributions in the tails …
We propose a new revised Landau hydrodynamic model to study systematically the pseudorapidity distributions of charged particles produced in heavy ion collisions over an energy range from a few GeV to a few TeV per nucleon pair. The interacting system is divided into three sources namely the central, target, and projectile sources respectively. The large central source is described by the Landau hydrodynamic model and further revised by the contributions of the small target/projectile sources. In the calculation, to avoid the errors caused by an unapt conversion or non-division, the rapidity a…
The pseudorapidity distributions of charged particles produced in p-Pb collisions and Xe-Xe collisions at LHC energies are described by the revised Landau hydrodynamic model. The research results are in agreement with the experimental data measured by ALICE collaboration at LHC. The related parameters are obtained and analyzed. And, we extracted the values of the squared speed of sound for central source are between 0.4 and 0.5.
We modified the gluon saturation model by rescaling the momentum fraction according to saturation momentum and introduced the Cooper-Frye hydrodynamic evolution to systematically study the pseudo-rapidity distributions of final charged hadrons at different energies and different centralities for Au-Au collisions in relativistic heavy-ion collisions at BNL Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC). The features of both gluon saturation and hydrodynamic evolution at different energies and different centralities for Au-Au collisions are investigated in this paper.
Through the collision-system configuration, the Tsallis statistics is combined with a multisource thermal model. The improved model is used to investigate the transverse momentum and pseudorapidity of particles produced in Xe-Xe collisions at 5.44 TeV. We discuss detailedly the thermodynamic properties, which are taken from the transverse momentum distributions of pion, kaon and proton for different centralities. The pseudorapidity spectra of charged particles for different centralities are described consistently in the model. And, the model result can estimate intuitively the longitudinal con…
We report an alternative explanation of the variation of charged particle to photon ratio in Cu+Cu collisions and Au+Au collisions from 1.4 $\pm$ 0.1 to 1.2 $\pm$ 0.1 at $\sqrt{\it{s}_{\rm NN}}$ = 62.4 GeV and 200 GeV respectively in STAR experiment at RHIC. Based on the theoretical predictions and experimental results we argue that the additional contribution of direct photons at $\sqrt{\it{s}_{\rm NN}}$ = 200 GeV in both Cu+Cu and Au+Au collisions are improving the ratio $\frac{N_{ch}}{N_γ}$ to 1.2 $\pm$ 0.1 from 1.4 $\pm$ 0.1.
Using the wounded nucleon, quark, and quark-diquark models, we extract the wounded source emission functions from the PHOBOS data for d+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$ GeV. We apply these models to compute charged particle multiplicity distributions as functions of pseudorapidity for p+p, p+Al, p+Au, d+Au, $^3$He+Au, Cu+Cu, Cu+Au, Au+Au, and U+U collisions at the same energy and compare them with experimental data from the PHOBOS and PHENIX collaborations. In symmetric collisions of heavy nuclei, the obtained distributions differ among the tested models. On the other hand, in asymmetri…
