A model calculation of deuteron electrodisintegration is used to explore renormalization group (RG) scale dependence for knock-out reactions. When evolved to different resolutions with the similarity RG (SRG), the initial deuteron wave function, the current operator, and the final state interactions (FSI) are all modified, but how they combine depends strongly on the kinematic region. In some regions, for example, the FSI are largely unaffected by evolution, while elsewhere FSI are greatly reduced. For certain kinematics, the impulse approximation at a high RG resolution gives an intuitive picture in terms of a one-body current breaking up a short-range correlated neutron-proton pair, although FSI distort this simple picture. With evolution to low resolution, however, the cross section is unchanged but a very different and arguably simpler intuitive picture emerges, with the evolved current efficiently represented at low momentum through derivative expansions or low-rank singular value decompositions. A consequence is that intuition about physics such as the role of short-range correlations or $D$-state mixing in particular kinematic regimes can be strongly scale dependent.
We establish a simple, explicit relation between the formalisms employed in the treatments of polarization observables in deuteron two-body electrodisintegration published by Arenhövel, Leidemann, and Tomusiak in Few-Body Systems {\bf 15}, 109 (1993) and the results of the present authors published in Phys.~Rev.~C {\bf 40}, 2479 (1989). We comment on the overlap between the two sets of results.
The effect of meson retardation in $NN$-interaction and exchange currents on deuteron electrodisintegration is studied in a coupled channel approach including $NN$-, $N Δ$- and $πd$-channels. It is shown that the influence of retardation depends on the energy regime: Whereas below $π$-threshold calculations with static and retarded operators yield almost identical results, they differ significantly in the $Δ$-region. Especially, the longitudinal and the longitudinal-transverse interference structure functions are strongly affected.
The paper considers the electrodisintegration of the deuteron for kinematic conditions of the JLab experiment E-94-019. The calculations have been performed within the covariant Bethe-Salpeter approach with a separable kernel of nucleon-nucleon interactions. The results have been obtained using the relativistic plane wave impulse approximation and compared with experimental data and other models. The influence of nucleon electromagnetic form factors has been investigated.
We extend the relativistic plane--wave impulse approximation formalism to incorporate a specific class of relativistic interference effects for use in describing inclusive electrodisintegration of $^2$H. The role of these ``exchange'' terms for the various response functions accessible in parity--conserving and --violating inclusive processes is investigated and shown, especially for the latter, to have important consequences for experiment. An extension to a simple quasi--deuteron model is also considered.
The electrodisintegration of the deuteron is considered within a relativistic model of nucleon-nucleon interaction based on the Bethe-Salpeter approach with a separable interaction kernel. The exclusive cross section is calculated within the impulse approximation under various kinematic conditions. Final state interactions between the outgoing nucleons are taken into account. The comparison of nonrelativistic and relativistic calculations is presented. Partial-wave states of the neutron-proton pair with total angular momentum $J=0,1$ are considered.
The electrodisintegration of the deuteron in the frame of the Bethe-Salpeter approach with a separable kernel of the nucleon-nucleon interaction is considered. This conception keeps the covariance of a description of the process. A comparison of relativistic and nonrelativistic calculations is presented. The factorization of the cross section of the reaction in the impulse approximation is obtained by analytical calculations. It is shown that the photon-neutron interaction plays an important role.
The exclusive electrodisintegration of the deuteron is considered within the Bethe-Salpeter approach with a separable interaction kernel. The relativistic kernel of nucleon-nucleon interaction is obtained considering the phase shifts in the elastic neutron-proton scattering and properties of the deuteron. The differential cross section is calculated within the impulse approximation under several kinematic conditions of the Bonn experiment. Final state interactions between the outgoing nucleons are taken into account. Partial-wave states of the neutron-proton pair with total angular momentum J=…
Outgoing nucleon polarization in exclusive deuteron electrodisintegration is studied at the quasi-elastic peak in the standard theory with emphasis on the effect of nucleonic and pionic relativistic corrections. The cases of polarized beam or/and polarized target are considered. Sizeable relativistic effects are pointed out in several polarization components. The sensitivity of nucleon polarization to the neutron charge form factor $G_E^n$ is discussed. In particular, it is shown that the longitudinal component of neutron polarization with vector polarized deuterons is as sensitive to $G_E^n$ …
Renormalization group (RG) methods used to soften Hamiltonians for nuclear many-body calculations change the effective resolution of the interaction. For nucleon knock-out processes, these RG transformations leave cross sections invariant, but initial-state wave functions, interaction currents, and final-state interactions are individually altered. This has implications for the factorization of nuclear structure and reactions. We use deuteron electrodisintegration as a controlled laboratory for studying how structure and reaction components are modified under RG evolution, without the complica…
In the framework of the covariant Bethe-Salpeter formalism we calculate the amplitude of electrodisintegration of the deuteron near the threshold energy. Due to the small relative momentum of the final np-pair, the deuteron break-up process may be sufficiently described by a transition to the dominant 1S0 channel into the final state. Therefore only one unknown structure function (form factor) exists. The explicit formula for this form factor is given in terms of partial Bethe-Salpeter amplitudes. We compare our result to the usual non-relativistic calculations. The essential role of P-states …
Polarization observables in inclusive and exclusive electrodisintegration of the deuteron using a polarized beam and an oriented target are systematically surveyed using the standard nonrelativistic framework of nuclear theory but with leading order relativistic contributions included. The structure functions and the asymmetries corresponding to the various nucleon polarization components are studied in a variety of kinematic regions with respect to their sensitivity to realistic $NN$-potential models, to subnuclear degrees of freedom in terms of meson exchange currents, isobar configurations …
Formal expressions are derived for the multipole expansion of the structure functions of a general polarization observable of exclusive electrodisintegration of the deuteron using a longitudinally polarized beam and/or an oriented target. This allows one to exhibit explicitly the angular dependence of the structure functions by expanding them in terms of the small rotation matrices $d^j_{m'm}(θ)$, whose coefficients are given in terms of the electromagnetic multipole matrix elements. Furthermore, explicit expressions for the coefficients of the angular distributions of the differential cross s…
The influence of relativistic contributions to deuteron electrodisintegration is systematically studied in various kinematic regions of energy and momentum transfer. As theoretical framework the equation-of-motion and the unitarily equivalent S-matrix approaches are used. In a (p/M)-expansion, all leading order relativistic $π$-exchange contributions consistent with the Bonn OBEPQ model are included. In addition, static heavy meson exchange currents including boost terms, $γπρ/ω$-currents, and $Δ$-isobar contributions are considered. Sizeable effects from the various relativistic two-body cont…
The (ed -> enp) process in the frame of the Bethe-Salpeter approach with a separable kernel of the Nucleon-Nucleon (NN) interaction was considered. This conception keeps the covariance of description of the process. Special attention was devoted to a contribution of the D-states of the deuteron in the cross section of the electrodisintegration. It was shown that the spectator particle (neutron) plays an important role. The factorization of a cross section of this reaction in the impulse approximation was checked by analytical and numerical calculations.
The generalized Gerasimov-Drell-Hearn sum rule $I^{GDH}_{γ^*d}(Q^2)$ for deuteron electrodisintegration $d(e,e')np$ as function of the squared four-momentum transfer $Q^2$ is evaluated by explicit integration. The calculation is based on a conventional nonrelativistic framework using a realistic $NN$-potential and including contributions from meson exchange currents, isobar configurations and leading order relativistic terms. Good convergence is achieved. The prominent feature is a deep negative minimum, $I_{γ^* d}^{GDH}=-9.5$ mb, at low $Q^2\approx 0.2$ fm$^{-2}$ which is almost exclusively d…
The two-body break up of the deuteron is studied at high $Q^2$ kinematics, with main motivation to probe the deuteron at small internucleon distances. Such studies are associated with the probing of high momentum component of the deuteron wave function. For this, two main theoretical issues have been addressed such as electromagnetic interaction of the virtual photon with the bound nucleon and the strong interaction of produced baryons in the final state of the break-up reaction. Within virtual nucleon approximation we developed a new prescription to account for the bound nucleon effects in el…
Recent advances in the study of electrodisintegration of 3He are presented and discussed. The pair-correlated hyperspherical harmonics method is used to calculate the initial and final state wave functions, with a realistic Hamiltonian consisting of the Argonne v18 two-nucleon and Urbana IX three-nucleon interactions. The model for the nuclear current and charge operators retains one- and many-body contributions. Particular attention is made in the construction of the two-body current operators arising from the momentum-dependent part of the two-nucleon interaction. Three-body current operator…
The threshold electrodisintegration of the deuteron at backward angles is studied with a relativistic Hamiltonian, including a relativistic one-pion-exchange potential (OPEP) with off-shell terms as predicted by pseudovector coupling of pions to nucleons. The bound and scattering states are obtained in the center-of-mass frame, and then boosted from it to the Breit frame, where the evaluation of the relevant matrix elements of the electromagnetic current operator is carried out. The latter includes, in addition to one-body, also two-body terms due to pion exchange, as obtained, consistently wi…
The break up of the deuteron is studied at high $Q^2$ kinematics, with main motivation to probe the deuteron at small internucleon distances. For this, two main issues are studied: electromagnetic interaction of the virtual photon with the bound nucleon and the strong interactions of the produced baryons in the final state of the reaction. Within virtual nucleon approximation we developed a new prescription to account for the bound nucleon effects in the electromagnetic interaction. The final state interaction at high $Q^2$ kinematics is calculated within generalized eikonal approximation ~ (G…
We study the deuteron electrodisintegration with inclusion of the neutral currents focusing on the helicity asymmetry of the exclusive cross section in coplanar geometry. We stress that a measurement of this asymmetry in the quasi elastic region is of interest for an experimental determination of the weak form factors of the nucleon, allowing one to obtain the parity violating electron neutron asymmetry. Numerically, we consider the reaction at low momentum transfer and discuss the sensitivity of the helicity asymmetry to the strangeness radius and magnetic moment. The problems coming from the…
Using the covariant spectator theory and the transversity formalism, the unpolarized, coincidence cross section for deuteron electrodisintegration, $d(e,e'p)n$, is studied. The relativistic kinematics are reviewed, and simple theoretical formulae for the relativistic impulse approximation (RIA) are derived and discussed. Numerical predictions for the scattering in the high $Q^2$ region obtained from the RIA and five other approximations are presented and compared. We conclude that measurements of the unpolarized coincidence cross section and the asymmetry $A_ϕ$, to an accuracy that will distin…
The magnetic form factors of $^2$H, $^3$H, and $^3$He, deuteron photodisintegration cross sections at low energies, and deuteron threshold electrodisintegration cross sections at backward angles in a wide range of momentum transfers, are calculated with the chiral two-nucleon (and three-nucleon) interactions including $Δ$ intermediate states that have recently been constructed in configuration space. The $A\,$=$\,$3 wave functions are obtained from hyperspherical-harmonics solutions of the Schrödinger equation. The electromagnetic current includes one- and two-body terms, the latter induced by…
High momentum transfer electrodisintegration of polarized and unpolarized deuterium targets, $d(e,e'p)n$ is studied. We show that the importance of final state interactions-FSI, occuring when a knocked out nucleon interacts with the other nucleon, depends strongly on the momentum of the spectator nucleon. In particular, these FSI occur when the essential contributions to the scattering amplitude arise from internucleon distances $\sim 1.5~fm$. But the absorption of the high momentum $γ^*$ may produce a point like configuration, which evolves with time. In this case, the final state interaction…
We investigate the nonrelativistic reduction of the Bethe-Salpeter amplitude for the deuteron electrodisintegration near threshold energies. To this end, two assumptions have been used in the calculations: 1) the static approximation and 2) the one iteration approximation. Within these assumptions it is possible to recover the nonrelativistic result including a systematic extension to relativistic corrections. We find that the so-called pair current term can be constructed from the $P$-wave contribution of the deuteron Bethe-Salpeter amplitude. The form factor that enters into the calculation …

Deuteron disintegration by charged-current neutrino (CC$ν$) scattering offers the possibility to determine the energy of the incident neutrino by measuring in coincidence two of the three resulting particles: a charged lepton (usually a muon) and two protons, where we show that this channel can be isolated from all other, for instance, from those with a pion in the final state. We discuss the kinematics of the process for several detection scenarios, both in terms of kinematic variables that are natural from a theoretical point of view and others that are better matched to experimental situati…
The $^3$He$(e,e^\prime p)$$d$ reaction is studied using an accurate three-nucleon bound state wave function, a model for the electromagnetic current operator including one- and two-body terms, and the Glauber approximation for the treatment of final state interactions. In contrast to earlier studies, the profile operator in the Glauber expansion is derived from a nucleon-nucleon scattering amplitude, which retains its full spin and isospin dependence and is consistent with phase-shift analyses of two-nucleon scattering data. The amplitude is boosted from the center-of-mass frame, where paramet…
Effective field theories (EFTs) require regularization and renormalization to gain predictive power. While regularization is inconsequential from the point of view of the observable predictions of EFT -- in a renormalized theory we expect predictions to be regulator-independent once the cutoff is removed -- the particular details of regulator dependence might provide interesting insights into the inner workings of an EFT. In fact, the analysis of regulator dependence has been frequently suggested as a tool to study the ordering scheme or power counting of EFTs. We show here that the choice of …
Data from KEK on subthreshold $\bar{\mrm{p}}$ as well as on $π^\pm$ and $\mrm{K}^\pm$ production in proton-, deuteron- and $α$-induced reactions at energies between 2.0 and 12.0 A GeV for C, Cu and Pb targets are described within a unified approach. We use a model which considers a nuclear reaction as an incoherent sum over collisions of varying numbers of projectile and target nucleons. It samples complete events and thus allows for the simultaneous consideration of all final particles including the decay products of the nuclear residues. The enormous enhancement of the $\bar{\mrm{p}}$ cross …
The helicity dependence of the inclusive $π^-$ photoproduction reaction from the deuteron in the $Δ$(1232)-resonance region is investigated with inclusion of final-state nucleon-nucleon rescattering ($NN$-FSI). For the elementary $π$-production operator an effective Lagrangian model which includes the standard pseudovector Born terms and a contribution from the $Δ$-resonance is used. The half-off-shell $NN$-scattering matrix is obtained from a separable representation of a realistic $NN$-interaction. The differential polarized cross-section difference for parallel and antiparallel helicity sta…
We analyze the energy dependence for two types of parity-non-conserving (PNC) asymmetries in the reaction $γD\to np$ in the near-threshold region. The first one is the asymmetry in reaction with circularly polarized photon beam and unpolarized deuteron target. The second one corresponds to those with an unpolarized photon beam and polarized target. We find that the two asymmetries have quite different energy dependence, and their shapes are sensitive to the PNC-meson exchange coupling constants. The predictions for the future possible experiments to provide definite constraints for the PNC-cou…
Background: Direct measurement of the electric dipole moment (EDM) of the neutron lies in the future; measurement of a nuclear EDM may well come first. The deuteron is one nucleus for which exact model calculations are feasible. Purpose: We explore the model dependence of deuteron EDM calculations. Methods: Using a separable potential formulation of the Hamiltonian, we examine the sensitivity of the deuteron EDM to variation in the nucleon-nucleon interaction. We write the EDM as the sum of two terms, the first depending on the target wave function with plane-wave intermediate states, and the …
The nucleon-deuteron radiative capture process is investigated using the chiral nuclear potentials and the electromagnetic currents developed by the Bochum-Bonn group. While the strong interaction is taken up to the next-to-next-to-leading order, the electromagnetic current consists of a single nucleon current, the leading one-pion exchange one and is supplemented by contributions from the long-range two-pion exchange current at next-to-leading-order. The theoretical predictions for the cross sections as well as analyzing powers show strong dependence on the values of regularization parameters…
Elastic ed scattering, with deuteron polarization, up to high momentum transfer provides detailed information on the deuteron wave function. This determines the range dependence of the orbital and spin components of the one- and two-body currents, restricting contributions of isobar and meson-exchange currents and of quark/gluon degrees of freedom, as well as the nucleon component. The R-matrix boundary condition model combines all these effects, predicting nucleon-nucleon reactions and the deuteron form-factors simultaneously. A brief description of the model is followed by a comparison of it…
We report on results of the effective theory method applied to neutron-deuteron scattering. We extend previous results in the $J=3/2$ channel to non-zero energies and find very good agreement with experiment without any parameter fitting.
Cross sections for inclusive neutrino scattering off deuteron induced by neutral and charge-changing weak currents are calculated from threshold up to 150 MeV energies in a chiral effective field theory including high orders in the power counting. Contributions beyond leading order (LO) in the weak current are found to be small, and increase the cross sections obtained with the LO transition operators by a couple of percent over the whole energy range (0--150) MeV. The cutoff dependence is negligible, and the predicted cross sections are within $\sim 2$\% of, albeit consistently larger than, c…
We investigate parity-violating asymmetries in polarized n p radiative capture, and deuteron electro-disintegration in quasi-elastic kinematics, using the DDH model for the parity-violating nucleon-nucleon interaction. We find dramatic cancellations between the asymmetries induced by the parity-violating interaction and those arising from the associated parity-violating pion-exchange currents. In np capture, the model-dependence of the result is nevertheless quite small because of constraints arising through the Siegert evaluation of the relevant E1 matrix element. In quasi-elastic electron sc…
We propose the transverse velocity ($β_T$) dependence of the anti-deuteron to deuteron ratio as a new observable to search for the QCD critical point in heavy-ion collisions. The QCD critical point can attract the system evolution trajectory in the QCD phase diagram, which is known as focusing effect. To quantify this effect, we employ thermal model and hadronic transport model to simulate the dynamical particle emission along a hypothetical focusing trajectory near critical point. We found the focusing effect can lead to anomalous $β_T$ dependence of $\bar{p}/p$, $\bar{d}/d$ and $^3\overline{…
The deuteron binding energy is only 2.2 MeV. At the same time, its yield in Pb+Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = $2.76 TeV corresponds to a thermal yield at the temperature around 155 MeV, which is too hot to keep deuterons bound. This puzzle is not completely resolved yet. In general, the mechanism of light nuclei production in ultra-high energy heavy ion collisions remains under debate. In a previous work [1] we suggest a microscopic explanation of the deuteron production in central ultra-relativistic Pb+Pb collisions, the main mechanism being $πpn \leftrightarrow πd$ reactions in the hadron…
We calculate azimuthal correlations in dAu collisions at different rapidities and centralities and argue that experimentally observed depletion of the back-to-back pick can be quantitatively explained by gluon saturation in the Color Glass Condensate of the Gold nucleus.
Model dependence of the reaction rates for the weak breakup of deuterons by low energy neutrinos is studied starting from the cross sections derived from potential models and also from pionless effective field theory. Choosing the spread of the reaction yields, caused basically by the different ways the two-body currents are treated, as a measure of the model dependent uncertainty, we conclude that the breakup reactions are $\sim$ 2 - 3 % uncertain, and that even the ratio of the charged to neutral current reaction rates is also $\sim$ 2 % uncertain.
We study the relativistic 2D charge distributions in the case of a spin-$1$ target. These charge distributions are based on a phase-space approach allowing one to study their frame dependence, and hence to relate the familiar rest-frame picture with the light-front picture developed in the last two decades. Like in the spin-$1/2$ case, we show that relativistic kinematical effects associated with spin are responsible for the distortions of the charge distributions seen in a moving frame. Applying our results to the deuteron, we observe a mild frame dependence compared to the nucleon case.
We investigate the collision energy dependence of deuteron and antideuteron emission in the RHIC-BES low- to mid-energy range $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 4.6-200$ GeV where the formation rate of antinuclei compared to nuclei is strongly suppressed. In the coalescence picture, this can be understood as bulk emission for nuclei in contrast to surface emission for antinuclei. By comparison with experimental data on the coalescence parameter $B_2$, we are able to extract the respective source geometries. This interpretation is further supported by results from the UrQMD transport model, and establishes the f…
The muon capture reactions 2H(μ^-,ν_μ)nn and 3He(μ^-,ν_μ)3H are studied with conventional or chiral realistic potentials and consistent weak currents. The initial and final A=2 and 3 nuclear wave functions are obtained from the Argonne v18 or chiral N3LO two-nucleon potential, in combination with, respectively, the Urbana IX or chiral N2LO three-nucleon potential in the case of A=3. The weak current consists of polar- and axial-vector components. The former are related to the isovector piece of the electromagnetic current via the conserved-vector-current hypothesis. These and the axial current…

We argue that the recently published CLAS results on the deuteron spin polarizability $γ_0$ [Adhikari {\it et al.}, Phys.\ Rev.\ Lett.\ {\bf 120}, 062501 (2018)], as well as their comparisons with chiral perturbation theory ($χ$PT), are misleading. In reality, the deuteron polarizability is larger by 4 orders of magnitude, as demonstrated here by a novel calculation in pionless EFT. The CLAS paper, on the other hand, presents only a tiny correction to it, based on a partial evaluation of a sum rule for $γ_0$. The sum rule is assumed to have the same form as for the nucleon; we argue it does no…
We provide a detailed discussion of the low-energy proton-deuteron system in pionless effective field theory, considering both the spin-quartet and doublet S-wave channels. Extending and amending our previous work on the subject, we calculate the 3He-3H binding energy difference both perturbatively (using properly normalized trinucleon wave functions) and non-perturbatively by resumming all O(alpha) Coulomb diagrams in the doublet channel. Our nonperturbative result agrees well with a calculation that involves the full off-shell Coulomb T-matrix. Carefully examining the cutoff-dependence in th…
Within the ultra-relativistic quantum molecular dynamics (UrQMD) model, in which the Lorentz-covariant treatment of nuclear mean-field potential is considered, the fluctuations of net-baryon, net-charge and deuterons multiplicity distributions in Au+Au head-on collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=3.0-5.0$ GeV are calculated. The results show that the nuclear mean-field potential can significantly enhance the magnitude of baryon number fluctuations in narrow rapidity windows, and this enhancement rapidly weakens with increasing beam energy. However, for proton and net-charge number fluctuations, the me…
Understanding the detailed production and hadronization mechanisms for heavy quarkonia and their modification in a nuclear environment presents one of the major challenges in QCD. Calculations including nuclear-modified parton distribution functions (nPDFs) and fitting of break-up cross sections (sigma_breakup) as parameters have been successful at describing many features of J/psi modification in proton(deuteron)-nucleus collisions. In this paper, we extend these calculations to explore different geometric dependencies of the modification and confront them with new experimental results from t…
The deuteron coalescence parameter $B_2$ in proton+proton and nucleus+nucleus collisions in the energy range of $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=$ 900 - 7000 GeV for proton+proton and $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=$ 2 - 2760 GeV for nucleus+nucleus collisions is analyzed with the Ultrarelativistic Quantum Molecular Dynamics (UrQMD) transport model, supplemented by an event-by-event phase space coalescence model for deuteron and anti-deuteron production. The results are compared to data by the E866, E877, PHENIX, STAR and ALICE experiments. The $B_2$ values are calculated from the final spectra of protons and deuterons. At low…
We re-examine the predictions of a two-phase model of shadowing in nuclear deep-inelastic scattering in light of new NMC data on the x, A and Q**2 dependence of the ratios of structure functions. The model, which combines vector meson dominance at low Q**2 with diffractive Pomeron exchange for large Q**2, agrees with the observed small, but non-zero, slopes in log Q**2, which indicate the importance of higher twist shadowing effects in the transition region, 0.1 < Q**2 < 1 GeV**2. We note also that the latest E665 data on the deuteron to proton ratio suggests the presence of a small amount of …
We study the implications of lattice QCD determinations of the S-wave nucleon-nucleon scattering lengths at unphysical light quark masses. It is found that with the help of nuclear effective field theory (NEFT), not only the quark mass dependence of the effective range parameters, but also the leading quark mass dependence of all the low energy deuteron matrix elements can be obtained. The quark mass dependence of deuteron charge radius, magnetic moment, polarizability and the deuteron photodisintegration cross section are shown based on the NPLQCD lattice calculation of the scattering lengths…
We consider electron-deuteron deep-inelastic scattering (DIS) with detection of a proton in the nuclear fragmentation region ("spectator tagging") as a method for extracting the free neutron structure functions and studying their nuclear modifications. Such measurements could be performed at a future Electron-Ion Collider (EIC) with suitable forward detectors. The measured proton recoil momentum (~< 100 MeV in the deuteron rest frame) specifies the deuteron configuration during the high-energy process and permits a controlled theoretical treatment of nuclear effects. Nuclear and nucleonic stru…
Light (anti-)nuclei in relativistic heavy-ion collisions are considered to be formed by the coalescence mechanism of (anti-)nucleons in the present work. Using a dynamical phase-space coalescence model coupled with a multi-phase transport (AMPT) model, we explore the formation of light clusters such as deuteron, triton and their anti-particles in different centralities for $^{197}$Au + $^{197}$Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 39$ GeV. The calculated transverse momentum spectra of protons, deuterons, and tritons are comparable to those of experimental data from the RHIC-STAR collaboration. Bot…
Recently we have proposed a new cut-off scheme for pion loop integrals in the two-pion exchange potential. This method allows for a consistent implementation of constraints from pion-nucleon scattering and has been successfully applied to peripheral nucleon-nucleon partial waves. We now consider low partial waves in the non-perturbative regime, where the regularized Lippmann-Schwinger equation has to be solved in order to generate the bound and scattering states. We observe an improved description of most of the phase shifts when going from next-to- to next-to-next-to-leading order in the chir…
