We determined the orbits and stellar parameters of three eccentric eclipsing binaries by light curve solutions of their Kepler data. KIC 10992733 and KIC 5632781 undergo total eclipses while KIC 10026136 reveals partial eclipses. The components of the targets are G and K stars. KIC 10992733 exhibited variations which were attributed to variable visibility of spot(s) on asynchronously rotating component. KIC 5632781 and KIC 1002613 reveal tidally-induced features at periastron, i.e. they might be considered as eclipsing heartbeat stars. The characteristics of the periastron features (shape, width and amplitude) confirm the theoretical predictions.
Four candidates of eclipsing multiples, based on new extraneous eclipses found on Kepler binary light curves, are presented and studied. KIC 7622486 is a double eclipsing binary candidate with orbital period of 2.2799960 days and 40.246503 days. The two binary systems do not eclipse each other in the line of sight, but there is mutual gravitational influence between them which leads to the small but definite eccentricity 0.0035(0.0022) on the short 2.2799960 days period orbit. KIC 7668648 is hierarchical quadruple system candidate, with two sets of solid 203(+-5) days period extraneous eclipse…
We determined the orbits and stellar parameters of three eccentric eclipsing binaries by light curve solutions of their Kepler data. KIC 8111622 and KIC 10518735 undergo total eclipses while KIC 8196180 reveals partial eclipses. The target components are G and K stars, excluding the primary of KIC 8196180 which is early F star. KIC 8196180 reveals well-visible tidally-induced feature at periastron, i.e. it is an eclipsing heartbeat star. The characteristics of the observed periastron feature (shape, width and amplitude) confirm the theoretical predictions. There are additional out-of-eclipse v…
We carried out light curve solutions of two eclipsing detached binaries on eccentric orbits observed by Kepler. The orbits and fundamental parameters of KIC 11619964 and KIC 7118545 were determined with a high accuracy by modeling of their photometric data. We found that the temperatures of their components differ by around 2000 K while the radii of their secondaries are more than twice smaller than those of the primaries. We detected a strange "brightening" of KIC 11619964 in the narrow phase range (+-0.0005) around the center of the primary eclipse reaching to 0.018 mag in amplitude. This "m…
Aims. We aim to find more eclipsing multiple systems and obtain their parameters, thus increasing our understanding of multiple systems. Methods. The extraneous eclipses on the \textit{kepler} binary light curves indicating extraneous bodies were searched. The binary light curves were analyzed using the binary model, and the extraneous eclipses were studied on their periodicity and shape changes. Results. Three binaries with extraneous eclipses on the binary light curves were found and studied based on the \textit{Kepler} observations. The object KIC 5255552 is an eclipsing triple system with …
The eccentricity, periastron angle, orbital inclination, mass ratio, stellar temperatures and relative stellar radii of 12 eclipsing eccentric binaries were determined on the basis of Kepler data. The analysis of their out-of-eclipse variability led to the following results: (i) KIC 10490980 exhibits rotational (spot-type) variability; (ii) Four new heartbeat stars were found: KIC 9344623 and KIC 10296163, which have wide tidally induced light humps and KIC 9119405 and KIC 9673173, which have narrow "W-shape" features; (iii) KIC 4932691 shows oscillations with approximately the 18th harmonic o…
KIC 2835289 is a triple stellar system that consists of an inner ellipsoidal variable with an orbital period of ~0.86 days and an outer star that eclipses the inner pair every ~750 days. Two eclipse events were observed by the Kepler mission, but they do not fully constrain our photodynamical models. The next eclipse event will occur on May 14 UT, and we solicit community involvement to follow it up from the ground. All details are available in the attached call. Please contact the authors to join the follow-up campaign.
The variable star known as NSVS 5597754 was identified as a short period RRc field star from ground-based photometry. This star happens to fall in the Kepler field of view and has been observed for 3 years with the Kepler spacecraft. Renamed KIC 9832227, this star was reidentified as an eclipsing binary with a periodicity of 0.457970 days. The NSVS ground based photometry yielded a period solution of 0.229 days. The Kepler photometry, which sampled the light cycle every 30 minutes, shows a peculiar behavior that is not purely eclipsing superposed over the primary variation. Follow-up ground ba…
Asteroseismology is a powerful tool to measure the fundamental properties of stars and probe their interiors. This is particularly efficient for red giants because their modes are well detectable and give information on their deep layers. However, the seismic relations used to infer the mass and radius of a star have been calibrated on the Sun. Therefore, it is crucial to assess their accuracy for red giants which are not perfectly homologous to it. We study eclipsing binaries with a giant component to test their validity. We identified 16 systems for which we intend to compare the dynamical m…
We present Kepler satellite photometry of KIC 10661783, a short-period binary star system which shows total eclipses and multi-periodic delta Scuti pulsations. A frequency analysis of the eclipse-subtracted light curve reveals at least 68 frequencies of which 55 or more can be attributed to pulsation modes. The main limitation on this analysis is the frequency resolution within the 27-day short-cadence light curve. Most of the variability signal lies in the frequency range 18 to 31 c/d, with amplitudes between 0.1 and 4 mmag. One harmonic term (2.f) and a few combination frequencies (f_i+f_j) …
Be stars are rapidly spinning B stars surrounded by an outflowing disc of gas in Keplerian rotation. Be star/X-ray binary systems contain a Be star and a neutron star. They are found to have non-zero eccentricities and there is evidence that some systems have a misalignment between the spin axis of the star and the spin axis of the binary orbit. The eccentricities in these systems are thought to be caused by a kick to the neutron star during the supernova that formed it. Such kicks would also give rise to misalignments. In this paper we investigate the extent to which the same kick distributio…
We carried out light curve solutions of ten detached eclipsing eccentric binaries observed by Kepler. The formal errors of the derived parameters from the light curve solutions are below 1%. Our results give indications that the components of the eccentric binaries (especially those with mass ratios below 0.5) do not follow precisely the empirical relations between the stellar parameters derived from the study of circular-orbit binaries. We found the following peculiarities of the targets: (a) the components of KIC 9474969 have almost the same temperatures while their radii and masses differ b…
KIC 7955301 is a hierarchical triple system with eclipse timing and depth variations discovered by the Kepler mission. It is composed of a non-eclipsing primary star at the bottom of the red giant branch on a 209-day orbit with a K/G-type main-sequence inner eclipsing binary, orbiting in 15.3 days. This system was noted for the large amplitude of its eclipse timing variations (4 hours), and the clear solar-like oscillations of the red-giant component, including p-modes of degree up to l=3 and mixed l=1 modes. The system is a single-lined spectroscopic triple. We perform a dynamical model by co…

The times of minima of the bright, eccentric eclipsing binary RR Lyncis are re-investigated. From the TESS data it is found that significant differences in the eclipse timings, particularly for the primary minima, are probably due to small, irregular changes in the eclipse profile due to pulsations, rather than light-curve asymmetries.
We present a detailed study of KIC 2306740, an eccentric double-lined eclipsing binary system. Kepler satellite data were combined with spectroscopic data obtained with the 4.2 m William Herschel Telescope (WHT). This allowed us to determine precise orbital and physical parameters of this relatively long period (P=10.3 d) and slightly eccentric, ($e=0.3$) binary system. The physical parameters have been determined as $M_1 = 1.194\pm0.008$ M$_{\odot}$, $M_2 = 1.078\pm0.007$ M$_{\odot}$, $R_1 = 1.682\pm0.004$ R$_{\odot}$, $R_2 = 1.226\pm0.005$ R$_{\odot}$, $L_1 = 2.8\pm0.4$ L$_{\odot}$, $L_2 = 1…
We report the ${\it Kepler}$ photometry of KIC 11401845 displaying multiperiodic pulsations, superimposed on binary effects. Light-curve synthesis represents that the binary star is a short-period detached system with a very low mass ratio of $q$ = 0.070 and filling factors of $F_1$ = 45 % and $F_2$ = 99 %. Multiple frequency analyses were applied to the light residuals after subtracting the synthetic eclipsing curve from the observed data. We detected 23 frequencies with signal to noise amplitude ratios larger than 4.0, of which the orbital harmonics ($f_4$, $f_6$, $f_9$, $f_{15}$) in the low…
We present Kepler photometry and ground based spectroscopy of KIC 4544587, a short-period eccentric eclipsing binary system with self-excited pressure and gravity modes, tidally excited modes, tidally influenced p modes, and rapid apsidal motion of 182 y per cycle. The primary and secondary components of KIC 4544587 reside within the delta Scuti and gamma Dor instability region of the Hurtzsprung-Russell diagram, respectively. By applying the binary modelling software PHOEBE to prewhitened Kepler photometric data and radial velocity data obtained using the William Herschel Telescope and 4-m Ma…
KIC 9832227 is a contact binary whose 11 hr orbital period is rapidly changing. Based on the apparent exponential decay of its period, the two stars were predicted to merge in early 2022 resulting in a rare red nova outburst. Fortunately KIC 832227 was observed in 2003 as part of the NASA Ames pre-Kepler Vulcan Project to search for transiting exoplanets. We find that the Vulcan timing measurement does not agree with the previous exponential decay model. This led us to re-evaluate the other early epoch non-Kepler data sets, the Northern Sky Variability Survey (NSVS) and Wide Angle Search for P…
KIC 4150611: A quadruply eclipsing heptuple star system with a g-mode period-spacing pattern Eclipse modelling of the triple and spectroscopic analysis
Gamma Doradus and delta Scuti pulsators cover the transition region between low mass and massive main-sequence stars, and as such, are critical for testing stellar models. When they reside in binary systems, we can combine two independent methods to derive critical information, such as precise fundamental parameters to aid asteroseismic modelling. In the Kepler light curve of KIC10080943, clear signatures of gravity- and pressure-mode pulsations have been found. Ground-based spectroscopy revealed this target to be a double-lined binary system. We present the analysis of four years of Kepler ph…
Continuous and precise space-based photometry has made it possible to measure the orbital frequency modulation of pulsating stars in binary systems with extremely high precision over long time spans. Frequency modulation caused by binary orbital motion manifests itself as a multiplet with equal spacing of the orbital frequency in the Fourier transform. The amplitudes and phases of the peaks in these multiplets reflect the orbital properties, hence the orbital parameters can be extracted by analysing such precise photometric data alone. We derive analytically the theoretical relations between t…
The analysis of eclipsing binaries containing non-radial pulsators allows: i) to combine two different and independent sources of information on the internal structure and evolutionary status of the components, and ii) to study the effects of tidal forces on pulsations. KIC 3858884 is a bright Kepler target whose light curve shows deep eclipses, complex pulsation patterns with pulsation frequencies typical of δ Sct, and a highly eccentric orbit. We present the result of the analysis of Kepler photometry and of high resolution phaseresolved spectroscopy. Spectroscopy yielded both the radial vel…
KIC 7177553 was observed by the Kepler satellite to be an eclipsing eccentric binary star system with an 18-day orbital period. Recently, an eclipse timing study of the Kepler binaries has revealed eclipse timing variations in this object with an amplitude of about 100 sec, and an outer period of 529 days. The implied mass of the third body is that of a superJupiter, but below the mass of a brown dwarf. We therefore embarked on a radial velocity study of this binary to determine its system configuration and to check the hypothesis that it hosts a giant planet. From the radial velocity measurem…
Heartbeat stars are eccentric (e > 0.2) ellipsoidal variables whose light curves resemble a cardiogram. We present the observations and corresponding model of KIC 3749404, a highly eccentric (e = 0.66), short period (P = 20.3 d) heartbeat star with tidally induced pulsations. A binary star model was created using PHOEBE, which we modified to include tidally induced pulsations and Doppler boosting. The morphology of the photometric periastron variation (heartbeat) depends strongly on the eccentricity, inclination and argument of periastron. We show that the inclusion of tidally induced pulsatio…

With 16-month Kepler data, 14 long-period (40 d - 265 d) eclipsing binaries on highly eccentric orbits (minimum e between 0.5 and 0.85) are recognized from their closely separated primary and secondary eclipses (Δt_I,II = 3 d - 10 d). These systems confirm the existence of a previously hinted binary population situated near a constant angular momentum track at P(1-e^2)^(3/2) ~ 15 d, close to the tidal circularization period P_circ. They may be presently migrating due to tidal dissipation and form a steady-state stream (~1% of stars) feeding the close-binary population (few percent of stars). I…
The LAMOST spectra and $\it{Kepler}$ light curves are combined to investigate the detached eclipsing binary KIC 8098300, which shows the O'Connell effect caused by spot/facula modulation. The radial velocity (RV) measurements are derived by using the tomographic spectra disentangling technology. The mass ratio $q = K_1/K_2 = 0.812 \pm 0.007$, and the orbital semi-major axis $a\mathrm{\sin}i = 14.984 \pm 0.048\ R_\odot$ are obtained by fitting the RV curves. We optimize the binary model concerning the spot/facula activity with the code PHOEBE and obtain precise parameters of the orbit including…
Context. Our knowledge of populations and occurrence of planets orbiting evolved intermediate-mass stars is still incomplete. In 2010 we started a planet-search program among 95 giant stars observed by the Kepler mission to increase the sample of giant stars with planets and with reliable estimates of stellar masses and radii. Aims. We present the two systems KIC 3526061 and HD 187878 from our planet-search program for which we could characterise their companions. Methods. We used precise stellar radial velocity measurements taken with four different echelle spectrographs to derive an orbital …
KIC 9532219 is a W UMa-type eclipsing binary with an orbital period of 0.1981549 d that is below the short-period limit ($\sim$0.22 d) of the period distribution for contact binaries. The {\it Kepler} light curve of the system exhibits striking light changes in both eclipse depths and light maxima. Applying third-body and spot effects, the light-curve synthesis indicates that the eclipsing pair is currently in a marginal contact stage with a mass ratio of $q$=1.20, an orbital inclination of $i$=66.0 deg, a temperature difference of $Δ$ ($T_{1}$--$T_{2}$)=172 K, and a third light of $l_3$=75.9 …
We present the first modern analysis of two young, eclipsing binaries, EK Cep and HS Her, based on new, ground-based, CCD multicolour light curves as well as the TESS observations, radial velocity curves, and eclipse timing measurements. The orbital and stellar parameters of the stars are determined by Roche modelling, and their evolutionary status is examined using a grid of isochrones and evolutionary tracks. We find that HS Her is 25-32 Myr old and its components are on the zero-age main sequence; at the age of 16-20 Myr, the primary of EK Cep is also on the ZAMS, but its secondary is a pre…
The formation of neutron stars is associated with powerful astrophysical transients such as supernovae. In many cases, asymmetries in the supernova explosions are thought to be responsible for the large observed velocities of neutron stars. We aim to study the complete evolutionary history of one particular eccentric high-mass X-ray binary containing a neutron star, GX 301-2, and characterize the natal kick at the time of neutron star formation. We used the publicly available stellar-evolution code MESA to evolve binaries from their initial stages until the core-collapse scenario. We incorpora…
Binaries in double-lined spectroscopic systems provide a homogeneous set of stars. Differences of parameters, such as age or initial conditions, which otherwise would have strong impact on the stellar evolution, can be neglected. The observed differences are determined by the difference in stellar mass between the two components. The mass ratio can be determined with much higher accuracy than the actual stellar mass. In this work, we aim to study the eccentric binary system KIC9163796, whose two components are very close in mass and both are low-luminosity red-giant stars from four years of Ke…
Tidal dissipation in binary star and planetary systems is poorly understood. Fortunately, eccentric binaries known as heartbeat stars often exhibit tidally excited oscillations, providing observable diagnostics of tidal circularization mechanisms and timescales. We apply tidal theories to observations of the heartbeat star KIC 8164262, which contains an F-type primary in a very eccentric orbit that exhibits a prominent tidally excited oscillation. We demonstrate that the prominent oscillation is unlikely to result from a chance resonance between tidal forcing and a stellar oscillation mode. Ho…
KIC 7177553 is a quadruple system containing two binaries of orbital periods 16.5 and 18 d. All components have comparable masses and are slowly rotating, non-evolved stars of spectral type near G2V. The longer period binary is eclipsing with component masses and radii, M1 = 1.043 +/- 0.014 M_sun, R1 = 0.940 +/- 0.005 R_sun, and M2 = 0.986 +/- 0.015 M_sun, R2 = 0.941 +/- 0.005 R_sun. The essentially equal radii measurements are inconsistent with the two stars being on the main sequence at the same age using standard stellar evolution models. Instead a consistent scenario is found if the stars …
Many of the Kepler close binaries are suggested to constitute hierarchical triple systems through their eclipse timing variations (ETVs). Eclipses by the third body in those systems, if observed, provide precise constraints on its physical and orbital properties, which are otherwise difficult to obtain. In this Letter, we analyze such a "tertiary event" observed only once in the KIC 6543674 system. The system consists of a short-period ($2.4\,\mathrm{days}$) inner eclipsing binary and a third body on a wide ($1100\,\mathrm{days}$) and eccentric ($e\simeq0.6$) orbit. Analysis of three tertiary …
We present the characterization of KIC 4142768, an eclipsing binary with two evolved A-type stars in an eccentric orbit with a period of 14 days. We measure the fundamental parameters of the two components ($M_1=2.05M_{\odot}, R_1=2.96R_{\odot}$ and $M_2=2.05M_{\odot}, R_2=2.51R_{\odot}$) by combining {\it Kepler} photometry and spectra from {\it Keck} HIRES. The measured surface rotation rates are only one-fifth of the pseudo-synchronous rate of the eccentric orbit. Fourier spectrum of the light curve reveals hybrid pulsations of $δ$ Scuti and $γ$ Doradus type, with pulsation frequencies at a…
We report eclipse timing variation analyses of 26 compact hierarchical triple stars comprised of an eccentric eclipsing ('inner') binary and a relatively close tertiary component found in the {\em Kepler} field. We simultaneously fit the primary and secondary $O-C$ curves of each system for the light-travel time effect (LTTE), as well as dynamical perturbations caused by the tertiary on different timescales. For the first time, we include those contributions of three-body interactions which originate from the eccentric nature of the inner binary. These effects manifest themselves both on the p…
We present the physical properties of KIC 5621294 showing light and timing variations from the ${\it Kepler}$ photometry. Its light curve displays partial eclipses and O'Connell effect with Max II fainter than Max I, which was fitted quite well by applying third-body and spot effects to the system. The results indicate that the eclipsing pair is a classical Algol-type system with parameters of $q$=0.22, $i$=76$^\circ$.8, and $Δ$($T_{1}$--$T_{2}$)=4,235 K, in which the detached primary component fills about 77\% of its limiting lobe. Striking discrepancies exist between the primary and secondar…
KIC 4247791 is an eclipsing binary observed by the Kepler satellite mission. We wish to determine the nature of its components and in particular the origin of a shallow dip in its Kepler light curve that previous investigations have been unable to explain in a unique way. We analyze newly obtained high-resolution spectra of the star using synthetic spectra based on atmosphere models, derive the radial velocities of the stellar components from cross-correlation with a synthetic template, and calculate the orbital solution. We use the JKTEBOP program to model the Kepler light curve of KIC 424779…
In this work we focus on a group of Galactic double neutron star (DNS) systems with long orbital periods of $ \gtrsim 1$ day and low eccentricities of $\lesssim 0.4$. The feature of these orbital parameters is used to constrain the evolutionary processes of progenitor binaries and the supernova (SN) kicks of the second born NSs. Adopting that the mass transfer during primordial binary evolution is highly non-conservative (rotation-dependent), the formation of DNS systems involves a double helium star binary phase, the common envelope (CE) evolution initiates before the first NS formation. Duri…
Eclipsing binary stars are rare and extremely valuable astrophysical laboratories that make possible precise determination of fundamental stellar parameters. Investigation of early-type chemically peculiar stars in eclipsing binaries provides important information for understanding the origin and evolutionary context of their anomalous surface chemistry. In this study we discuss observations of eclipse variability in six mercury-manganese (HgMn) stars monitored by the TESS satellite. These discoveries double the number of known eclipsing HgMn stars and yield several interesting objects requiri…
KIC 3230227 is a short period ($P\approx 7.0$ days) eclipsing binary with a very eccentric orbit ($e=0.6$). From combined analysis of radial velocities and {\it Kepler} light curves, this system is found to be composed of two A-type stars, with masses of $M_1=1.84\pm 0.18M_{\odot}$, $M_2=1.73\pm 0.17M_{\odot}$ and radii of $R_1=2.01\pm 0.09R_{\odot}$, $R_2=1.68\pm 0.08 R_{\odot}$ for the primary and secondary, respectively. In addition to an eclipse, the binary light curve shows a brightening and dimming near periastron, making this a somewhat rare eclipsing heartbeat star system. After removi…
In this paper we analyzed the light curve of the object KIC~3832716 observed during Kepler K1 mission. We showed that this previously known eclipsing binary is in fact quadruple system, in double eclipsing binary configuration on a long period orbit with the mass ratio of eclipsing binaries $0.7 \pm 0.3$. The system consists of eclipsing binary A with the orbital period of $P_A \sim 1.1419$\,d. Eclipsing binary A contains larger but less luminous secondary component in the post main sequence stage of its evolution consistent with an "Algol paradox" which can explain parameters of the component…
KIC 8569819 is an eclipsing binary star with an early F primary and G secondary in a 20.85-d eccentric orbit. The primary is a delta Sct - gamma Dor star pulsating in both p modes and g modes. Using 4 years of Kepler Mission photometric data we independently model the light curve using the traditional technique with the modelling code PHOEBE, and we study the orbital characteristics using the new frequency modulation (FM) technique. We show that both methods provide the equivalent orbital period, eccentricity and argument of periastron, thus illustrating and validating the FM technique. In the…
We report the discovery of a new Kepler first-overtone RR Lyrae pulsator, KIC 2831097. The pulsation shows large, 0.1 d amplitude, systematic phase variations that can be interpreted as light travel-time effect caused by orbital motion in a binary system, superimposed on a linear pulsation-period decrease. The assumed eccentric (e=0.47) orbit with the period of approximately 2 yr is the shortest among the non-eclipsing RR Lyrae binary candidates. The binary model gives a lowest estimate for the mass of the companion of 8.4 M_Sun, that places it among black hole candidates. Beside the first-ove…
Abstract We investigate a short-period W UMa binary KIC 9026766 with an orbital period of 0.2721278 days in the Kepler field of view. By using an automated q-search for the folded light curve and producing a synthetic light curve for this object based on the PHOEBE code, we calculate the fundamental stellar parameters. We also analyze the O-C curve of the primary minima. The orbital period changes can be attributed to the combination of an upward quadratic function and light-travel time effect due to a possible third body with a minimum mass of 0.029 solar mass and an orbital period of 972.586…
We present a photometric, spectroscopic, asteroseismic, and evolutionary analysis of the Algol-type eclipsing binary KIC 12268220. We find the O'Connell effect and anticorrelated eclipse timing variations in the Kepler light curve, revealing the presence of large starspots. Radial velocities and atmospheric parameters are obtained from ground-based spectroscopic observations. Combined with the radial velocity measurements and Gaia-derived total luminosity, our light-curve modeling yields the solution of the physical parameters for both the primary and secondary components. We find 14 independe…
KIC 2856960 is a star in the Kepler field which was observed by Kepler for 4 years. It shows the primary and secondary eclipses of a close binary of 0.258d as well as complex dipping events that last for about 1.5d at a time and recur on a 204d period. The dips are thought to result when the close binary passes across the face of a third star. In this paper we present an attempt to model the dips. Despite the apparent simplicity of the system and strenuous efforts to find a solution, we find that we cannot match the dips with a triple star while satisfying Kepler's laws. The problem is that to…
In a recent study, Armstrong et al. presented an eclipsing binary star of about 6.2 h period with transit-like tertiary signals occurring every 204.2 d in the {\it Kepler} public data of KIC002856960 and proposed three possible hierarchical structures: (AB)b, (AB)C, and A(BC). We analyzed the {\it Kepler} light curve by including a third light source and one starspot on each binary component. The results represent that the close eclipsing pair is in a low-mass eccentric-orbit, detached configuration. Based on 123 eclipse timings calculated from the Wilson-Devinney binary model, a period study …
The {\it Kepler} light curve of KIC 4739791 exhibits partial eclipses, inverse O'Connell effect, and multiperiodic pulsations. Including a starspot on either of the binary components, the light-curve synthesis indicates that KIC 4739791 is in detached or semi-detached configurations with both a short orbital period and a low mass ratio. Multiple frequency analyses were performed in the light residuals after subtracting the binarity effects from the original {\it Kepler} data. We detected 14 frequencies: six in the low-frequency region (0.1$-$2.3 d$^{-1}$) and eight in the high-frequency region…
A 2014 study of the eclipsing binary star 1SWASPJ011351.29+314909.7 (J0113+31) reported an unexpectedly high effective temperature for the M-dwarf companion to the 0.95-M$_{\odot}$ primary star. The effective temperature inferred from the secondary eclipse depth was $\sim$600 K higher than the value predicted from stellar models. Such an anomalous result questions our understanding of low-mass stars and might indicate a significant uncertainty when inferring properties of exoplanets orbiting them. We seek to measure the effective temperature of the M-dwarf companion using the light curve of J0…
