We investigate the spin-dependent (naive) T-odd fragmentation function $D^\perp_{1T}$, which can provide an explanation on the transverse polarization of the $Λ^0$ hyperon produced in an unpolarized process. We calculate $D^\perp_{1T}$ for light flavors in the spectator diquark model, with a Gaussian form factor at the hyperon-quark-diquark vertex. We include in the calculation both the scalar diquark and axial-vector diquark spectators. We determine the values of the model parameters by fitting the unpolarized fragmentation function $D^Λ_1$ to the DSV parametrization for $D^Λ_1$. In addition, we compute the longitudinal polarization fragmentation function $G^Λ_1$ and compare it with the known parametrization of $G^Λ_1$. We also estimate the transverse polarizations of $Λ$ production, in both semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering and single inclusive $e^+e^-$ annihilation.
The decays $Ξ_b \to Λ_b π$ are strangeness changing weak transitions involving only the light diquark in the baryon. Thus these decays can test the properties of such diquarks, in particular the suggestions existing in the literature of enhanced correlations in $J^P=0^+$ light diquarks. We revisit the estimates of the rates of these decays and point out that with the enhanced correlation their branching fraction can reach a few percent and may become visible in the measurements of differences of the lifetimes of $b$ baryons.
We study the production of polarized $Λ$ hyperon in semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering off an unpolarized target. We include the cases in which the $Λ$ hyperon is longitudinally polarized or transversely polarized, and in which the lepton beam is unpolarized or longitudinally polarized. Within the framework of the transverse momentum dependent factorization, we take into account the complete decomposition of the parton correlator for fragmentation up to twist-3. We present the cross section of the process to order $1/Q$. The expressions of the polarized structure functions, which may giv…
Weak radiative hyperon decays are discussed in the diquark-level approach. It is pointed out that in the general diquark formalism one may reproduce the experimentally suggested pattern of asymmetries, while maintaining Hara's theorem in the SU(3) limit. At present, however, no detailed quark-based model of parity-violating diquark-photon coupling exists that would have the necessary properties.
We study the Collins function $H^\perp_{1}$ of the $Λ$ hyperon, which describes the fragmentation of a transversely polarized quark into an unpolarized $Λ$ hyperon. We calculate $H^\perp_{1}$ for light quarks of the $Λ$ hyperon, in the diquark spectator model with a Gaussian form factor for the hyperon-quark-diquark vertex. The model calculation includes contributions from both the scalar diquark and vector diquark spectators. Using the model result, we estimate the weighted $\cos2ϕ_0$ asymmetry in the process $e^+e^- \to Λ\barΛX$ contributed by the coupling of two Collins functions. The QCD e…
Using $e^+e^-$ annihilation data taken at the CESR collider with the CLEO-c detector, measurements of hyperon pair production cross sections and elastic and transition electromagnetic form factors have been made at the charmonium resonances: $ψ(2S)$, $\sqrt{s}=3.69$ GeV, $|Q^2|=13.6$ GeV$^2$, $\mathcal{L}=48$~pb$^{-1}$; $ψ(3770)$, $\sqrt{s}=3.77$ GeV, $|Q^2|=14.2$ GeV$^2$, $\mathcal{L}=805$~pb$^{-1}$; and $ψ(4170)$, $\sqrt{s}=4.17$ GeV, $|Q^2|=17.4$ GeV$^2$, $\mathcal{L}=586$~pb$^{-1}$. %High efficiency particle identification has resulted in good statistical precision in the results. The possibility is examined for the inclusive $Λ$ in unpolarized electron-positron annihilation to be transversely polarized. Due to final-state interactions, there exists a novel structure function $\hat F(z,Q^2)$ for the inclusive $Λ$ hyperon (or any other baryons) production from the unpolarized time-like photon fragmentation, which makes contribution to the transverse $Λ$ polarization in the unpolarized electron-positron annihilation.
This work is devoted to the study of the non-perturbative contributions in non-leptonic hyperon decays. We show that the instanton-induced 't Hooft interaction can naturally explain the Delta I=1/2 rule, by generating quark-diquark clustering inside octet baryons. We compute P-wave and S-wave amplitudes in the Instanton Liquid Model (ILM), and find good agreement with experiment. We propose a model-independent procedure to test on the lattice if the leading quark-quark attraction in the 0^+ anti-triplet channel responsible for diquark structures in hadrons is originated by the interaction gene…
Cross section formulas for the $Λ$ polarization in $pp\toΛ^\uparrow(\ell_T)X$ and $ep\toΛ^\uparrow(\ell_T)X$ are derived and its characteristic features are discussed.
We apply the picture proposed in a previous Letter, which relates the hyperon polarization in unpolarized hadron-hadron collisions to the left-right asymmetry in singly polarized reactions, to the production of different hyperons in reactions using different projectiles and/or targets. We discuss the different ingredients of the proposed picture in detail and present the results for hyperon polarization in the reactions such as $pp$, $K^-p$, $π^{\pm}p$, and $Σ^-p$ collisions. We compare the results with the available data and make predictions for future experiments.
We discuss interplay of the scalar and vector diquarks which decide the characteristics of the spin polarization as functions of $p_T$ and $x_F$ in the wide kinematical range. We demonstrate a significant effect of quark masses on the pair-creation probabilities from vacuum in $pp \to Σ^- X$ and $γp \to ΛX$ collisions, and also a remarkable correction induced by the diquark form factor in $ Σ^- p \to ΛX $ collision.
Transverse polarization in the Hyperon production in the unpolarized deep inelastic scattering and pp collisions is studied in the twist-three approach, considering the contribution from the quark-gluon-antiquark correlation distribution in nucleon. We further compare our results for deep inelastic scattering to a transverse momentum dependent factorization approach, and find consistency between the two approaches in the intermediate transverse momentum region. We also find that in pp collisions, there are only derivative terms contributions, and the non-derivative terms vanish.
We investigate the Generalized Transverse Momentum-dependent Distributions (GTMDs) describing the parton structure of proton using the light-front scalar-diquark model. In particular, we study the Wigner distributions for unpolarized quark in unpolarized, longitudinally-polarized and transversely-polarized proton. We also investigate the twist-2 GTMDs for unpolarized quark $(Γ=γ^+)$ in scalar-diquark model.
We investigate the transverse polarization of a hyperon produced in the high-energy unpolarized proton-proton collision, $pp\toΛ^\uparrow X$, based on the collinear twist-3 factorization formalism. We focus on the contribution from the twist-3 distribution in one of the unpolarized proton and the transversity fragmentation function for the final hyperon. Utilizing the "master formula" for the soft-gluon-pole cross section, we clarify the reason for why it receives only the derivative term of the twist-3 distribution. We also present the first computation of the soft-fermion-pole cross section …
It has been known for a long time that hyperons produced in hadronic collisions are polarized perpendicular to the production plane of the reaction. This effect cannot be described by using twist-2 collinear parton correlators only. Here we compute the contribution of twist-3 fragmentation functions to the production of transversely polarized hyperons in unpolarized proton-proton collisions in the framework of collinear factorization. By taking into account the relations among the relevant twist-3 fragmentation functions which follow from the QCD equation of motion and the Lorentz invariance p…
A simple quark-diquark model for nucleon and $Λ$ structure is used to calculate leading twist light-cone fragmentation functions for a quark to inclusively decay into P or $Λ$. The parameters of the model are determined by fitting to the known deep-inelastic structure functions of the nucleon. When evolved from the initial to the final $Q^2$ scale, the calculated fragmentation functions are in remarkable agreement (for $z>0.4 $) with those extracted from partially inclusive $ep$ and $e^+ e^-$ experiments at high energies. Predictions are made, using no additional parameters, for longitudinally…
We discuss the relation between the polarization of inclusively produced (anti)-hyperons and the incident baryon states in the framework of the constituent quark-diquark cascade model. We assume that there is an intrinsic diquark-antidiquark state in the incident baryon, in which the intrinsic diquark immediately fragments into a non-leading baryon and the antidiquark behaves as a valence constituent. It is also assumed that the valence (anti)diquark in the incident nucleon tends to combine selectively with a spin-down sea quark and, on the othe hand, the spin-up valence quark in the projectil…
We make a systematic study of $Λ$ hyperon polarizations in unpolarized lepton induced semi-inclusive reactions such as $e^-N\to e^-ΛX$ and $e^+e^-\toΛh X$. We present the general form of cross sections in terms of structure functions obtained from a general kinematic analysis. This already shows that the produced hyperons can be polarized in three orthogonal directions, i.e., the longitudinal direction along the hyperon momentum, the normal direction of the production plane, and the transverse direction in the production plane. We present the parton model results at the leading twist and leadi…
Understanding the origin and mechanism of the transverse polarization of hyperons produced in unpolarized proton-proton collision, $pp\to Λ^\uparrow X$, has been one of the long-standing issues in high-energy spin physics. In the framework of the collinear factorization applicable to large-$p_T$ hadron productions, this phenomenon is a twist-3 observable which is caused by multi-parton correlations either in the initial protons or in the process of fragmentation into the hyperon. We derive the twist-3 gluon fragmentation function (FF) contribution to this process in the leading order (LO) with…
Using a simple quark-diquark model, we extract a set of unpolarized and polarized fragmentation functions for the $Λ$ based on the available unpolarized $Λ$ production data in $e^+ e ^- $ annihilation. It is found that there is a strong SU(3) flavor symmetry breaking in the unpolarized $Λ$ fragmentation functions and that the polarized $u$ and $d$ quark contributions to the polarized $Λ$ fragmentation are positive in medium and large $z$ region. The predictions of $Λ$-polarization with the obtained quark fragmentation functions are compatible with the available data on the longitudinally polar…
We show that the polarization of hyperons observed in high energy collisions using unpolarized hadron beams and unpolarized nucleon or nuclear targets is closely related to the left-right asymmetries observed in single spin inclusive hadron production processes. The relationship is most obvious for the production of the hyperons which have only one common valence quark with the projectile. Further implications of the existence of large polarization for hyperon which has two valence quarks in common with the projectile and their consequences are discussed. A comparison with the available data i…
We present an improved version of the dual parton model which contains a new realization of the diquark breaking mechanism of baryon stopping. We reproduce in this way the net baryon yield in nuclear collisions. The model, which also considers strings originating from diquark-antidiquark pairs in the nucleon sea, reproduces the observed yields of p and Lambda and their antiparticles and underestimates cascades by less than 50 %. However, Omega's are underestimated by a factor five. Agreement with data is restored by final state interaction, with an averaged cross-section as small as 0.14 mb. H…
It is shown that the polarization of hyperons observed in high energy collisions using unpolarized hadron beams and unpolarized nucleon or nuclear targets is closely related to the left-right asymmetries observed in single spin inclusive hadron production processes. The relationship is most obvious for the production of the hyperons which have only one common valence quark with the projectile. Examples of this kind are given. Further implications of the existence of large polarization for hyperon which has two valence quarks in common with the projectile and their consequences are discussed. A…
Spin dependent fragmentation functions for heavy flavor quarks to fragment into heavy baryons are calculated in a quark-diquark model. The production of intermediate spin 1/2 and 3/2 excited states is explicity included. $Λ_b$ , $Λ_c$ and $Ξ_c$ production rate and polarization at LEP energies are calculated and, where possible, compared with experiment. A different approach, also relying on a heavy quark-diquark model, is proposed for the small momentum transfer inclusive production of polarized heavy flavor hyperons. The predicted $Λ_c$ polarization is roughly in agreement with experiment.
Based on a simple quark-diquark model, we propose a set of unpolarized, longitudinally polarized and transversely polarized fragmentation functions for the $Λ$ by fitting the unpolarized $Λ$ production data in $e^+ e ^- $ annihilation. It is found that the helicity structure of the obtained $Λ$ fragmentation functions is supported by the all available experimental data on the longitudinal $Λ$ polarization. Within the same framework of the diquark model, the nucleon transversity distributions are presented and consistent descriptions of the available HERMES data on the azimuthal spin asymmetrie…
We briefly report our recent progress on the study of the polarized fragmentation functions of $Λ$ hyperon in unpolarized semi-inclusive deep-inelastic scatterings and electron-positron annihilations at low energies. In particular, we present a simple but practical method on how to measure the azimuthal-angle-dependent longitudinal polarization and the transverse polarization inside the production plane and bridge these observables to the corresponding structure functions and fragmentation functions at the leading twist. Our work diversifies the high energy reactions that can probe the polariz…
We perform a study on the struck quark to the $Λ$-hyperon fragmentation processes by taking into account the anti-quark fragmentations and intermediate decays from other hyperons. We concentrate on how the longitudinally polarized quark fragments to the longitudinally polarized $Λ$, how unpolarized quark and anti-quark fragment to the unpolarized $Λ$, and how quark and anti-quark fragment to the $Λ$ through the intermediate decay processes. We calculate the effective fragmentation functions in the light-cone SU(6) quark-spectator-diquark model via the Gribov-Lipatov relation, with the Melosh-W…
Making use of the collinear expansion technique developed by Ellis, Furmanski and Petrozio, and the special propagator concept invented by Qiu, we present a factorization approach to the photon fragmentation tensor for the inclusive Lambda hyperon production. As a result, the structure function $\tilde F$, which is related to the transverse polarization of the inclusive Lambda hyperon in unpolarized electron-positron annihilation, is expressed as a combination of four parton fragmentation matrix elements. Since the inclusive $Λ$ production we considered is theoretically the simplest, our study…
We present a phenomenological unpolarized Parton Distribution Functions for diquarks based on a soft-wall light front AdS/QCD quark-diquark nucleon model. From a probed model consistent with the Drewll-Yan-West relation and quark counting rule, we have performed a fit of some free parameters using known phenomenological quark PDF data. The model considers the entire set of possible diquarks within the nucleon valence, in the present work we focus on the spin-0 $ud_0$, spin-1 $ud_1$ and spin-1 $uu_1$ diquarks into the valence of protons. The diquark PDFs obtained are able to used in proton-prot…
The model combined with unitarity and impact parameter picture provide a rather simple mechanism of hyperon polarization generation in collision of unpolarized hadrons. We concentrate on a particular problem of $Λ$-hyperon polarization and derive its linear $x_F$-dependence as well as its energy and transverse momentum independence at large $p_\perp$. Mechanism responsible for the single--spin asymmetries in pion production is also discussed.
We calculate the transverse polarizations of the produced hyperons in the semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering of unpolarized lepton beam on transversely polarized nucleon, since these polarizations provide a potential method for extracting the transversity distribution h1(x) of the nucleon. In this calculation we use the SU(6) wavefunctions of the octet baryons and the spectator model for the distribution functions of nucleons and the fragmentation functions of hyperons. We find that that H1(z) of the Sigma hyperons are much larger than that of the Lambda hyperon. Therefore, when one trie…
The longstanding problem of explaining the observed polarization of Lambda hyperons inclusively produced in the high energy collisions of unpolarized hadrons is tackled by considering spin and k_T dependent quark fragmentation functions. The data on Lambda's and Lambda-bar's produced in p-N processes are used to determine simple phenomenological expressions for these new "polarizing fragmentation functions", which describe the experiments remarkably well.
The model combined with unitarity and impact parameter picture provides simple mechanism for generation of hyperon polarization in collision of unpolarized hadrons. We concentrate on a particular problem of $Λ$-hyperon polarization and derive its linear $x_F$-dependence as well as its energy and transverse momentum independence at large $p_\perp$ values. Mechanism responsible for the single--spin asymmetries in pion production is also discussed.
We apply the picture proposed in a recent Letter for transverse hyperon polarization in unpolarized hadron-hadron collisions to the exclusive process e^-p --> e^-HK such as e^-p-->e^-ΛK^+, e^-p --> e^-Σ^+ K^0, or e^-p--> e^-Σ^0 K^+, or the similar process e^-p\to e^-nπ^+ with longitudinally polarized electron beams. We present the predictions for the longitudinal polarizations of the hyperons or neutron in these reactions, which can be used as further tests of the picture.
All the leading-twist parton distribution functions are calculated in a spectator model of the nucleon, using scalar and axial-vector diquarks. Single gluon rescattering is used to generate T-odd distribution functions. Different choices for the diquark polarization states are considered, as well as a few options for the form factor at the nucleon-quark-diquark vertex. The results are listed in analytic form and interpreted in terms of light-cone wave functions. The model parameters are fixed by reproducing the phenomenological parametrization of unpolarized and helicity parton distributions a…
We present a quark-diquark model for the nucleons where the light front wave functions are constructed from the soft-wall AdS/QCD prediction. The model is consistent with quark counting rule and Drell-Yan-West relation. The model reproduces the scale evolution of unpolarized PDF of proton for a wide range of energy scale. Helicity and transversity distributions for the proton predicted in this model agree with phenomenological fits. The axial and tensor charges are also shown to agree with the experimental data. The model can be used to evaluate distributions like GPDS, TMDs etc. and their sca…
In the present work we have studied the chiral odd Generalized Parton Distributions (GPDs) in the impact parameter space by assuming a flexible parametrization in a quark-diquark model. In order to obtain the explicit contributions from the up and down quarks, we have considered both the scalar (spin-0) and the axial-vector (spin-1) configurations for the diquark. We have also studied the spin densities for the up and down quarks in this model for monopole, dipole and quadrupole contributions for unpolarized and polarized quarks in unpolarized and polarized proton.
The latest data by the NA61/SHINE collaboration on inclusive distributions of $K^{*0}$ and $ϕ$ meson's, $Ξ^-$ and $\bar Ξ^+$ hyperon's production in ${\rm pp}$ interactions at $P_{lab}$ from 40 up to 158 GeV/c are considered. As it was shown before in experimental papers, Monte Carlo models -- EPOS 1.99, UrQMD 3.4 and Pythia 6, cannot describe reasonably well the data. In the presented paper, the yields of the particles are analyzed within the Geant4 FTF model. The meson yields are proportional to the probability of strange quark-antiquark pair production from the vacuum, and the probability t…
We present an alternative parameterization of the quark-diquark model of baryons which particularly takes care of the most recent proton electric form-factor data from the E136 experiment at SLAC. In addition to electromagnetic form factors of the nucleon, for which good agreement with data is achieved, we discuss the weak axial vector form factor of the nucleon as well as electromagnetic form factors of $Λ$ and $Σ$ hyperons. Technical advance in calculating the pertinent analytic expressions within perturbative quantum chromodynamics is gained by formulating the wave function of the quark-diq…
The transverse polarization observed in the inclusive production of Lambda hyperons in the high energy collisions of unpolarized hadrons is tackled by considering a new set of spin and kT dependent quark fragmentation functions. Simple phenomenological expressions for these new ``polarizing fragmentation functions'' are obtained by a fit of the data on Lambda's and Lambdabar's produced in p-N processes.
We systematically study the hadron longitudinal polarizations of the octet baryons at large $z$ from quark fragmentations in $e^+e^-$-annihilation, polarized charged lepton deep inelastic scattering (DIS) process, and neutrino (antineutrino) DIS process, based on predictions of quark distributions for the octet baryons in the SU(6) quark-spectator-diquark model and a perturbative QCD based counting rule analysis. We show that the $e^+e^-$-annihilation and polarized charged lepton DIS process are able to distinguish between the two different predictions of the hyperon polarizations. We also fin…
We study roles of quark-quark correlations in the baryons for the deep inelastic structure function and the $ΔI=1/2$ rule of the non-leptonic weak hyperon decay. The quark-quark correlation is incorporated phenomenologically as diquarks within the Nambu and Jona-Lasinio model. The strong diquark correlations in the spin-0 channel enhance the $ΔI=1/2$ weak matrix elements, and account for the $ΔI=1/2$ rule. The ratio of the nucleon structure functions $F_2^{n}(x)/F_2^{p}(x)$ also comes to agree with experiment due to the diquark correlations.
A QCD formula for the polarization in the large-p_T Λhyperon production in the unpolarized nucleon-nucleon collision at large x_F is derived. We focus on the mechanism in which the chiral-odd spin-independent twist-3 quark distribution E_F(x,x) becomes the source of the transversely polarized quarks fragmenting into the polarized Λ. A simple model estimate for that contribution shows the possibility that it gives rise to a sizable Λpolarization.
The long-standing problem of transverse Lambda polarization in high-energy collisions of unpolarized hadrons can be tackled by considering new, spin and k_T-dependent quark fragmentation functions for an unpolarized quark into a polarized, spin-1/2 hadron. Simple phenomenological parameterizations of these new "polarizing fragmentation functions", which describe quite well the experimental data on Lambda and Lambda-bar hyperons produced in p-A processes, are utilized and extended here to give predictions for transverse Lambda polarization in semi-inclusive DIS
Transverse polarization of $Λ^0$ hyperons in inclusive photoproduction at x_F>0 is tackled within the framework of the quark recombination model, which has been successfully applied to the polarization of different hyperons in a variety of unpolarized hadron-hadron reactions. The results are compared with recent experimental data of HERMES.
We study the measurement of the quark fragmentation functions for spin-1/2 baryon production ($Λ$ and $\bar Λ$, in particular) in unpolarized $e^+e^-$ annihilation. The spin-dependent fragmentation functions $\hat g_1(z)$ and $\hat h_1(z)$ can be probed in the process as a result of quark-antiquark spin correlation and the weak decay of the baryons. The relevant cross section is expressed as a product of the two-jet cross-section, the fragmentation functions, and the differential width of the hyperon decay.
The gravitational form factors are related to the matrix elements of the energy-momentum tensor $T^{μν}$. Using the light front wave functions of the scalar quark-diquark model for nucleon predicted by the soft-wall AdS/QCD, we calculate the flavor dependent $A(Q^2)$, $B(Q^2)$ and $\bar{C}(Q^2)$ form factors. We also present all the matrix element of the energy-momentum tensor in a transversely polarized state. Further, we evaluate the matrix element of Pauli-Lubanski operator in this model and show that the intrinsic spin sum rule involves the form factor $\bar{C}$. The longitudinal momentum …
Cross-section distributions are calculated for the reaction $e^+ e^- \rightarrow J/ψ\rightarrow \barΛ(\rightarrow \bar{p}π^+) Λ(\rightarrow pπ^-)$, and related annihilation reactions mediated by vector mesons. The hyperon-decay distributions depend on a number of structure functions that are bilinear in the, possibly complex, psionic form factors $G_M^ψ$ and $G_E^ψ$ of the Lambda hyperon. The relative size and relative phase of these form factors can be uniquely determined from the unpolarized joint-decay distributions of the Lambda and anti-Lambda hyperons. Also the decay-asymmetry parameters…
We report further evidence for $N(1900)P_{13}$ from an analysis of a large variety of photo- and pion-induced reactions, in particular from the new CLAS measurements of double polarization observables for photoproduction of hyperons. The data are consistent with two classes of solutions both requiring contributions from $N(1900)P_{13}$ but giving different $N(1900)P_{13}$ pole positions. $(M-iΓ/2) = (1915\pm50)-i(90\pm25)$ MeV covers both solutions. The small elasticity of 10% or less explains why it was difficult to observe the state in $πN$ elastic scattering. $N(1900)P_{13}$ is a 2-star res…
We consider polarized Lambda hyperon production in proton-proton scattering, p p -> (Λ^\uparrow jet) jet X, in the kinematical region of the LHC experiments, in particular the ALICE experiment. We present a new Lambda polarization observable that arises from the Sivers effect in the fragmentation process. It can be large even at midrapidity and therefore, is of interest for high energy hadron collider experiments. Apart from its potential to shed light on the mechanisms behind the phenomenon of Lambda polarization arising in unpolarized hadronic collisions, the new observable in principle also…
It is shown that $Λ$-hyperon fragmentation in charged lepton deep inelastic scattering (DIS) on a polarized nucleon target can provide sensitive information concerning the quark helicity and transversity distributions for both nucleon and $Λ$-hyperon at large $x$. Numerical predictions are given for the spin transfers of the produced $Λ$, when the target nucleon is polarized either longitudinally or transversely, and with the nucleon and $Λ$ quark distributions evaluated both in an SU(6) quark-spectator-diquark model and in a perturbative QCD (pQCD) based model. It is also shown that the predi…
We study the inclusive production of $Λ$ ($\bar Λ$) in several high energy collision processes ($e^+e^-, e^{\pm}p, ν(\bar ν)p, pp$), in view of an accurate determination of the unpolarized and polarized fragmentation functions of a quark into a $Λ$ ($\bar Λ$). For polarized fragmentation functions the inaccuracy and the scarcity of present data do not allow to distinguish between various theoretical models. We will indicate how future measurements will provide ways to discriminate between them and also how to achieve a necessary quark flavor separation. A possible extension to the production o…
This paper examines the transverse momentum spectra of baryons in the multi-particle production at modern colliders using Quark-Gluon String Model (QGSM). It discusses 1) the difference in Λ^0 hyperon spectra at antiproton-proton vs. proton-proton reactions; 2) the growth of average transverse momenta of Λhyperon with proton-proton collision energies and 3) the dependence of average p_t on the masses of mesons and baryons at the LHC energy 7 TeV. This analysis of baryon spectra led to the following conclusions. First, the fragmentation of antidiquark-diquark side of the pomeron diagram makes t…
We compute in the instanton vacuum the nucleon matrix elements of the twist-4 QCD operators describing power corrections to the second moments of the unpolarized structure functions, F_L and F_2. Our approach takes into account the leading contribution in the packing fraction of the instanton medium, rho / R << 1. Parametrically leading are the matrix elements of a twist-4 quark-gluon operator, which are of the order of the inverse instanton size, 1/rho^2 = (600 MeV)^2. The matrix elements of the four-fermion (diquark) operators are suppressed by a factor (rho / R)^4 and numerically small. The…
