Measurements of inclusive spectra and mean multiplicities of $π^\pm$, K$^\pm$, p and $\bar{\textrm{p}}$ produced in inelastic p+p interactions at incident projectile momenta of 20, 31, 40, 80 and 158 GeV/c ($\sqrt{s} = $ 6.3, 7.7, 8.8, 12.3 and 17.3 GeV, respectively) were performed at the CERN Super Proton Synchrotron using the large acceptance NA61/SHINE hadron spectrometer. Spectra are presented as function of rapidity and transverse momentum and are compared to predictions of current models. The measurements serve as the baseline in the NA61/SHINE study of the properties of the onset of deconfinement and search for the critical point of strongly interacting matter.
The physics goals, the detector and its performance as well as status and plans of the NA61/SHINE experiment at the CERN SPS accelerator are presented.

Status of the new experimental program to study hadron production in hadron-nucleus and nucleus-nucleus collisions at the CERN SPS will be presented. A physics motivation will be given for the part of the program related to the physics of strongly interacting matter. Upgrades of the NA61 experimental set-up and data taking plans will be described in detail.
The NA61/SHINE programme on strong interactions covers the study of the onset of deconfinement and aims to discover the critical point of strongly interacting matter by performing an energy and system-size scan over the full CERN SPS momentum range. So far the scans of p+p, $^7$Be+$^9$Be, as well as Ar+Sc have been completed. Results from p+p and Be+Be collisions are now emerging, in particular the energy dependence of hadron spectra and yields. Status and preliminary results from this effort will be presented.
This paper is dedicated to the memory of Jozsef Zimanyi one of the founders of the experiment NA49 at the CERN SPS. Firstly, the paper summarizes the main results of NA49 concerning observation of the onset of deconfinement in central Pb+Pb collisions at the low SPS energies. Secondly, it sketches the physics program of NA61 at the CERN SPS, the successor of NA49, which in particular aims to discover the critical point of strongly interacting matter. Finaly, a brief review of the future experimental programs in the CERN SPS energy range is given.
Status of the new experimental program to study hadron production in hadron-nucleus and nucleus-nucleus collisions at the CERN SPS will be presented. In particular, a detailed physics motivation and experimental strategy will be given for the part of the program related to the physics of strongly interacting matter: search for the critical point of strongly interacting matter, study properties of the onset of deconfinement, and high p_T measurements in p+p and p+A interactions. Theoretical calculations locate the critical point of strongly interacting matter (CP) at energies accessible at the CERN SPS. Multiplicity fluctuations were investigated in Ar+Sc collisions at 13A, 19A, 30A, 40A, 75A, 150A GeV/c using the NA61/SHINE detector at the SPS. Centrality selection is based on the nucleon-spectator energy in the forward hemisphere as measured by the Projectile spectator detector. Preliminary results on the scaled variance ω and the strongly intensive measure Ω were obtained for the multiplicity distribution of all, negatively and positively charged hadrons. Results are discussed and compared with p+p results and Pb+Pb data of NA49 and EPOS 1.99 simulations.

This paper briefly presents the NA61/SHINE facility at the CERN SPS and its measurements motivated by physics of strong interactions, neutrinos and cosmic rays.
Preliminary results on particle spectra and fluctuations in inelastic p+p interactions measured by NA61/SHINE at the CERN SPS are presented and its future ion program is discussed. We also show results on the excitation functions of event-by-event particle ratio fluctuations in central Pb+Pb collisions from NA49 using a novel approach. We found a dependence of the results on phase space coverage which appears to explain the reported difference between measurements of NA49 and those of STAR in central Au+Au collisions.

We report the analysis of data taken during a pilot run in 2018 to study the feasibility of nuclear fragmentation measurements with the NA61/SHINE experiment at the CERN SPS. These nuclear reactions are important for the interpretation of secondary cosmic-ray nuclei production (Li, Be, and B) in the Galaxy. New results from the NA61/SHINE experiment on the determination of charged hadron yields in proton-carbon interactions are presented. They aim to improve predictions of the neutrino flux in the T2K experiment. The analysis is based on the main dataset collected by NA61/SHINE in the year 2009. The data were recorded using a secondary-proton beam of 31 GeV/$c$ momentum from CERN SPS which impinges on a graphite target. The NA61/SHINE experiment aims to discover the critical point of strongly interacting matter and study the properties of the onset of deconfinement. For these goals a scan of the two dimensional phase diagram (T-$μ_B$) is being performed at the SPS by measurements of hadron production in proton-proton, proton-nucleus and nucleus-nucleus interactions as a function of collision energy and system size. The NA61/SHINE fixed-target experiment at the CERN SPS studies the onset of deconfinement and searches for the critical point of strongly interacting matter by measuring hadron production as a function of the collision energy and the colliding system size. This contribution summarises recent results on hadron spectra and fluctuations, in particular new results on charged kaon production in $^7$Be+$^9$Be collisions. Also an overview of the proposed future program of NA61/SHINE is presented.

NA61/SHINE (SPS Heavy Ion and Neutrino Experiment) is a multi-purpose experimental facility to study hadron production in hadron-proton, hadron-nucleus and nucleus-nucleus collisions at the CERN Super Proton Synchrotron. The measurement of $K^{*}(892)^0$ resonance production via its $K^{+}π^{-}$ decay mode in inelastic p+p collisions at beam momentum 158 GeV/$c$ ($\sqrt{s_{NN}}=17.3$ GeV) is presented. The data were recorded by the NA61/SHINE hadron spectrometer at the CERN Super Proton Synchrotron. The \textit{template} method was used to extract the $K^{*}(892)^0$ signal and double differential transverse momentum and rapidity spectra were obtained. The full phase-space mean multiplicity of $K^{*}(892)^0$ mesons was found to be $(78.44 \pm 0.38 \mathrm{(stat)} \pm 6.0 \mathrm{(sys)) \cdot 10^{-3}}$. The NA61…
