Preliminaru version of the paper M.A. Kłopotek: Reconstruction of 3-D rigid smooth curves moving free when two traceable points only are available. Machine Graphics \& Vision 1(1992)1-2, pp. 392-405
This paper extends previous research in that sense that for orthogonal projections of rigid smooth (true-3D) curves moving totally free it reduces the number of required traceable points to two only (the best results known so far to the author are 3 points from free motion and 2 for motion restricted to rotation around a fixed direction and and 2 for motion restricted to influence of a homogeneous force field). The method used is exploitation of information on tangential projections. It discusses also possibility of simplification of reconstruction of flat curves moving free for prospective projections.

We present a novel non-rigid reconstruction method using a moving RGB-D camera. Current approaches use only non-rigid part of the scene and completely ignore the rigid background. Non-rigid parts often lack sufficient geometric and photometric information for tracking large frame-to-frame motion. Our approach uses camera pose estimated from the rigid background for foreground tracking. This enables robust foreground tracking in situations where large frame-to-frame motion occurs. Moreover, we are proposing a multi-scale deformation graph which improves non-rigid tracking without compromising t…
We propose a method to train deep networks to decompose videos into 3D geometry (camera and depth), moving objects, and their motions, with no supervision. We build on the idea of view synthesis, which uses classical camera geometry to re-render a source image from a different point-of-view, specified by a predicted relative pose and depth map. By minimizing the error between the synthetic image and the corresponding real image in a video, the deep network that predicts pose and depth can be trained completely unsupervised. However, the view synthesis equations rely on a strong assumption: tha…

Estimation of 3D motion in a dynamic scene from a temporal pair of images is a core task in many scene understanding problems. In real world applications, a dynamic scene is commonly captured by a moving camera (i.e., panning, tilting or hand-held), increasing the task complexity because the scene is observed from different view points. The main challenge is the disambiguation of the camera motion from scene motion, which becomes more difficult as the amount of rigidity observed decreases, even with successful estimation of 2D image correspondences. Compared to other state-of-the-art 3D scene …

We introduce a free-viewpoint rendering method -- HumanNeRF -- that works on a given monocular video of a human performing complex body motions, e.g. a video from YouTube. Our method enables pausing the video at any frame and rendering the subject from arbitrary new camera viewpoints or even a full 360-degree camera path for that particular frame and body pose. This task is particularly challenging, as it requires synthesizing photorealistic details of the body, as seen from various camera angles that may not exist in the input video, as well as synthesizing fine details such as cloth folds an…
We explain theoretically how to reconstruct the 3D scene from successive frames in order to see the video in 3D. To do this, features, associated to moving rigid objects in 3D, are extracted in frames and matched. The vanishing point computed in frame corresponding to the direction of moving object is used for 3D positioning of the 3D structure of the moving object. First experiments are conducted and the obtained results are shown and publicly available. They demonstrate the feasibility of our method. We conclude this paper by future works in order to improve this method tacking into account …

Most SLAM algorithms are based on the assumption that the scene is static. However, in practice, most scenes are dynamic which usually contains moving objects, these methods are not suitable. In this paper, we introduce DymSLAM, a dynamic stereo visual SLAM system being capable of reconstructing a 4D (3D + time) dynamic scene with rigid moving objects. The only input of DymSLAM is stereo video, and its output includes a dense map of the static environment, 3D model of the moving objects and the trajectories of the camera and the moving objects. We at first detect and match the interesting poin…

Conventional structure-from-motion (SFM) research is primarily concerned with the 3D reconstruction of a single, rigidly moving object seen by a static camera, or a static and rigid scene observed by a moving camera --in both cases there are only one relative rigid motion involved. Recent progress have extended SFM to the areas of {multi-body SFM} (where there are {multiple rigid} relative motions in the scene), as well as {non-rigid SFM} (where there is a single non-rigid, deformable object or scene). Along this line of thinking, there is apparently a missing gap of "multi-body non-rigid SFM"…

The optical flow of natural scenes is a combination of the motion of the observer and the independent motion of objects. Existing algorithms typically focus on either recovering motion and structure under the assumption of a purely static world or optical flow for general unconstrained scenes. We combine these approaches in an optical flow algorithm that estimates an explicit segmentation of moving objects from appearance and physical constraints. In static regions we take advantage of strong constraints to jointly estimate the camera motion and the 3D structure of the scene over multiple fram…

Given two consecutive frames from a pair of stereo cameras, 3D scene flow methods simultaneously estimate the 3D geometry and motion of the observed scene. Many existing approaches use superpixels for regularization, but may predict inconsistent shapes and motions inside rigidly moving objects. We instead assume that scenes consist of foreground objects rigidly moving in front of a static background, and use semantic cues to produce pixel-accurate scene flow estimates. Our cascaded classification framework accurately models 3D scenes by iteratively refining semantic segmentation masks, stereo …

Learning to estimate 3D geometry in a single image by watching unlabeled videos via deep convolutional network has made significant process recently. Current state-of-the-art (SOTA) methods, are based on the learning framework of rigid structure-from-motion, where only 3D camera ego motion is modeled for geometry estimation. However, moving objects also exist in many videos, e.g. moving cars in a street scene. In this paper, we tackle such motion by additionally incorporating per-pixel 3D object motion into the learning framework, which provides holistic 3D scene flow understanding and helps si…

We introduce Neural Deformation Graphs for globally-consistent deformation tracking and 3D reconstruction of non-rigid objects. Specifically, we implicitly model a deformation graph via a deep neural network. This neural deformation graph does not rely on any object-specific structure and, thus, can be applied to general non-rigid deformation tracking. Our method globally optimizes this neural graph on a given sequence of depth camera observations of a non-rigidly moving object. Based on explicit viewpoint consistency as well as inter-frame graph and surface consistency constraints, the underl…

We introduce a novel, end-to-end learnable, differentiable non-rigid tracker that enables state-of-the-art non-rigid reconstruction by a learned robust optimization. Given two input RGB-D frames of a non-rigidly moving object, we employ a convolutional neural network to predict dense correspondences and their confidences. These correspondences are used as constraints in an as-rigid-as-possible (ARAP) optimization problem. By enabling gradient back-propagation through the weighted non-linear least squares solver, we are able to learn correspondences and confidences in an end-to-end manner such …
Appearance-based detectors achieve remarkable performance on common scenes, but tend to fail for scenarios lack of training data. Geometric motion segmentation algorithms, however, generalize to novel scenes, but have yet to achieve comparable performance to appearance-based ones, due to noisy motion estimations and degenerate motion configurations. To combine the best of both worlds, we propose a modular network, whose architecture is motivated by a geometric analysis of what independent object motions can be recovered from an egomotion field. It takes two consecutive frames as input and pred…

This paper presents a method which can track and 3D reconstruct the non-rigid surface motion of human performance using a moving RGB-D camera. 3D reconstruction of marker-less human performance is a challenging problem due to the large range of articulated motions and considerable non-rigid deformations. Current approaches use local optimization for tracking. These methods need many iterations to converge and may get stuck in local minima during sudden articulated movements. We propose a puppet model-based tracking approach using skeleton prior, which provides a better initialization for track…

We demonstrate the use of shape-from-shading (SfS) to improve both the quality and the robustness of 3D reconstruction of dynamic objects captured by a single camera. Unlike previous approaches that made use of SfS as a post-processing step, we offer a principled integrated approach that solves dynamic object tracking and reconstruction and SfS as a single unified cost function. Moving beyond Lambertian S f S , we propose a general approach that models both specularities and shading while simultaneously tracking and reconstructing general dynamic objects. Solving these problems jointly prevent…

We present a technique for simultaneous 3D reconstruction of static regions and rigidly moving objects in a scene. An RGB-D frame is represented as a collection of features, which are points and planes. We classify the features into static and dynamic regions and grow separate maps, static and object maps, for each of them. To robustly classify the features in each frame, we fuse multiple RANSAC-based registration results obtained by registering different groups of the features to different maps, including (1) all the features to the static map, (2) all the features to each object map, and (3)…
We present ClusterVO, a stereo Visual Odometry which simultaneously clusters and estimates the motion of both ego and surrounding rigid clusters/objects. Unlike previous solutions relying on batch input or imposing priors on scene structure or dynamic object models, ClusterVO is online, general and thus can be used in various scenarios including indoor scene understanding and autonomous driving. At the core of our system lies a multi-level probabilistic association mechanism and a heterogeneous Conditional Random Field (CRF) clustering approach combining semantic, spatial and motion informatio…
Motion segmentation for natural images commonly relies on dense optic flow to yield point trajectories which can be grouped into clusters through various means including spectral clustering or minimum cost multicuts. However, in biological imaging scenarios, such as fluorescence microscopy or calcium imaging, where the signal to noise ratio is compromised and intensity fluctuations occur, optical flow may be difficult to approximate. To this end, we propose an alternative paradigm for motion segmentation based on optimal transport which models the video frames as time-varying mass represented …
