This paper is concerned with variational continuation of branches of solutions for nonlinear boundary value problems, which involve the p-Laplacian, the indefinite nonlinearity, and depend on the real parameter $λ$. A special focus is made on the extreme value of Nehari manifold $λ^*$, which determines the threshold of applicability of Nehari manifold method. In the main result the existence of two branches of positive solutions for the cases where parameter $λ$ lies above the threshold $λ^*$ is obtained.
In this paper, we consider a fractional p-Laplacian system with both concave-convex nonlinearities and sign-changing weight functions in bounded domains. With the help of the Nehari\ manifold, we prove that the system has at least two nontrivial solutions when the pair of the parameters $(λ,μ)$ belongs to a certain subset of $\mathbb{R}^{n}$
In this article using Nehari manifold method we study the multiplicity of solutions of the following nonlocal elliptic system involving variable exponents and concave-convex nonlinearities: \begin{equation*} \;\;\; \begin{array}{rl} (-Δ)_{p(\cdot)}^{s} u&=λ~ a(x)| u|^{q(x)-2}u+\frac{α(x)}{α(x)+β(x)}c(x)| u|^{α(x)-2}u| v| ^{β(x)},\hspace{2mm} x\in Ω; \\ (-Δ)_{p(\cdot)}^{s} v&=μ~ b(x)| v|^{q(x)-2}v+\frac{α(x)}{α(x)+β(x)}c(x)| v|^{α(x)-2}v| u| ^{β(x)},\hspace{2.5mm} x\in Ω; \\ u=v&=0 ,\hspace{1cm} x\in Ω^c:=\mathbb R^N\setminusΩ, \end{array} \end{equation*} where $Ω\subset\mathbb R^N,~N\geq2$ is …
In this work we prove some abstract results about the existence of a minimizer for locally Lipschitz functionals, without any assumption of homogeneity, over a set which has its definition inspired in the Nehari manifold. As applications we present a result of existence of ground state bounded variation solutions of problems involving the 1-Laplacian and the mean-curvature operator, where the nonlinearity satisfies mild assumptions.
We study a $p$-Laplacian equation involving a parameter $λ$ and a concave-convex nonlinearity containing a weight which can change sign. By using the Nehari manifold and the fibering method, we show the existence of two positive solutions on some interval $(0,λ^*+\varepsilon)$, where $λ^*$ can be characterized variationally. We also study the asymptotic behavior of solutions when $λ\downarrow 0$.
We analyze the topological structure of the Nehari set for a class of functionals depending on a real parameter $λ$, and having two degrees of homogeneity. A special attention is paid to the extremal parameter $λ^*$, which is the threshold value for the Nehari set to be given by a {\it natural constraint}. The main difficulty arises when $λ>λ^*$, as the energy functional may be unbounded from below over the Nehari set. In such situation we prove the existence of local minimizers of the functional constrained to this set. We unify and extend previous existence and multiplicity results for criti…
We prove the existence of at least two positive solutions for the Laplacian system(E?)On a bounded region by using the Nehari manifold and the fibering maps associated with the Euler functional for the system.
In this paper, we study the multiplicity of positive solutions for the p-Laplacian systems with sign-changing weight functions. Using the decomposition of the Nehari manifold, we prove that an elliptic system has at least two positive solutions.
In this paper we study the existence of a least energy sign-changing solution to a nonlocal elliptic PDE involving singularity by using the Nehari manifold method, the constraint variational method and Brouwer degree theory.
In this paper, we study the existence of three solutions for a Kirchhoff equation involving the nonlocal fractional p-Laplacian considering Sobolev and Hardy nonlinearities at subcritical and critical growths. The proof is based on Mountain Pass Theorem, Ekeland's variational principle and constrained minimization in Nehari sets.
In this article we study the existence of weak solution, existence of ground state solution using Nehari manifold and existence of infinitely many solutions using Fountain theorem and Dual fountain theorem for a class of doubly nonlocal Kirchhoff-Choquard type equations involving the variable-order fractional $p(\cdot)-$ Laplacian operator. Here the nonlinearity does not satisfy the well known Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz type condition.
We study the existence of least energy sign-changing solution for the fractional equation $(-Δ)^{s} u=|u|^{2_{s}^{*}-2}u+λf(x,u)$ in a smooth bounded domain $Ω$ of $\mathbb{R}^{N},$ $u=0$ in $\mathbb{R}^{N}\setminus Ω$, where $s\in (0,1)$ and $2_{s}^{*}$ is the fractional critical Sobolev exponent. The proof is based on constrained minimization in a subset of Nehari manifold, containing all the possible sign-changing solutions of the equation.
Assume that a family of domain-dependent functionals $E_{Ω_t}$ possesses a corresponding family of least energy critical points $u_t$ which can be found as (possibly nonunique) minimizers of $E_{Ω_t}$ over the associated Nehari manifold $\mathcal{N}(Ω_t)$. We obtain a formula for the second-order derivative of $E_{Ω_t}$ with respect to $t$ along Nehari manifold trajectories of the form $α_t(u_0(Φ_t^{-1}(y)) + t v (Φ_t^{-1}(y)))$, $y \in Ω_t$, where $Φ_t$ is a diffeomorphism such that $Φ_t(Ω_0) = Ω_t$, $α_t \in \mathbb{R}$ is a $\mathcal{N}(Ω_t)$-normalization coefficient, and $v$ is a correcto…
In this paper, we show the existence and multiplicity of positive solutions of the following fractional Kirchhoff system\\ \begin{equation} \left\{ \begin{array}{rllll} \mc L_M(u)&=λf(x)|u|^{q-2}u+ \frac{2α}{α+β}\left|u\right|^{α-2}u|v|^β& \text{in } Ω,\\ \mc L_M(v)&=μg(x)|v|^{q-2}v+ \frac{2β}{α+β}\left|u\right|^α|v|^{β-2}v & \text{in } Ω,\\ u&=v=0 &\mbox{in } \mathbb{R}^{N}\setminus Ω, \end{array} \right. \end{equation} where $\mc L_M(u)=M\left(\displaystyle \int_Ω|(-Δ)^{\frac{s}{2}}u|^2dx\right)(-Δ)^{s} u $ is a double non-local operator due to Kirchhoff term $M(t)=a+b t$ with $a, b>0$ and f…
We study the existence and multiplicity of solutions to the elliptic system where RN is a bounded and smooth domain. Using fibering maps and extracting Palais-Smale sequences in the Nehari manifold, we prove the existence of at least two distinct nontrivial nonnegative solutions.
We study the existence of positive solutions for a class of double phase Dirichlet equations which have the combined effects of a singular term and of a parametric superlinear term. The differential operator of the equation is the sum of a $p$-Laplacian and of a weighted $q$-Laplacian ($q<p$) with discontinuous weight. Using the Nehari method, we show that for all small values of the parameter $λ>0$, the equation has at least two positive solutions.
It is well known that a single nonlinear fractional Schrödinger equation with a potential $V(x)$ and a small parameter $\varepsilon $ may have a positive solution that is concentrated at the nondegenerate minimum point of $V(x)$. In this paper, we can find two different positive solutions for two weakly coupled fractional Schrödinger systems with a small parameter $\varepsilon $ and two potentials $V_{1}(x)$ and $V_{2}(x)$ having the same minimum point are concentrated at the same point minimum point of $V_{1}(x)$ and $V_{2}\left(x\right) $. In fact that by using the energy estimates, Nehari m…
By using the fibering method jointly with Nehari manifold techniques, we obtain the existence of multiple solutions to a fractional $p$-Laplacian system involving critical concave-convex nonlinearities provided that a suitable smallness condition on the parameters involved is assumed. The result is obtained despite there is no general classification for the optimizers of the critical fractional Sobolev embedding.
In this paper, we consider the following fractional Laplacian system with one critical exponent and one subcritical exponent \begin{equation*} \begin{cases} (-Δ)^{s}u+μu=|u|^{p-1}u+λv & x\in \ \mathbb{R}^{N}, (-Δ)^{s}v+νv = |v|^{2^{\ast}-2}v+λu& x\in \ \mathbb{R}^{N},\\ \end{cases} \end{equation*} where $(-Δ)^{s}$ is the fractional Laplacian, $0<s<1,\ N>2s, \ λ<\sqrt{μν},\ 1<p<2^{\ast}-1~ and~\ 2^{\ast}=\frac{2N}{N-2s}$~ is the Sobolev critical exponent. By using the Nehari\ manifold, we show that there exists a $μ_{0}\in(0,1)$, such that when $0<μ\leqμ_{0}$, the system has a positive ground s…
In this paper, we study the following Dirichlet problem for a parabolic equation involving fractional $p$-Laplacian with logarithmic nonlinearity \begin{equation*}\label{eq}\left\{ \begin{array}{llc} u_{t}+(-Δ)^{s}_{p}u+|u|^{p-2}u=|u|^{p-2}u\log(|u|) & \text{in}\ & Ω,\;t>0 , u =0 & \text{in} & \mathbb{R}^{N}\backslash Ω,\;t > 0, u(x,0)=u_{0}(x), & \text{in} &Ω, \end{array}\right. \end{equation*} where $Ω\subset \mathbb{R}^N \, ( N\geq 1)$ is a bounded domain with Lipschitz boundary and $2\leq p< \infty$. The local existence will be done by using the Galerkin approximations. By combining the po…
It is established existence, multiplicity and asymptotic behavior of positive solutions for a quasilinear elliptic problem driven by the $Φ$-Laplacian operator. One of these solutions is obtained as ground state solution by applying the well known Nehari method. The semilinear term in the quasilinear equation is a concave-convex function which presents a critical behavior at infinity. The concentration compactness principle is used in order to recover the compactness required in variational methods.
In this short note, we consider the elliptic problem $$ λϕ+ Δϕ= η|ϕ|^σϕ,\quad ϕ\big|_{\partial Ω}=0,\quad λ, η\in \mathbb{C}, $$ on a smooth domain $Ω\subset \mathbb{R}^N$, $N\ge 1$. The presence of complex coefficients, motivated by the study of complex Ginzburg-Landau equations, breaks down the variational structure of the equation. We study the existence of nontrivial solutions as bifurcations from the trivial solution. More precisely, we characterize the bifurcation branches starting from eigenvalues of the Dirichlet-Laplacian of arbitrary multiplicity. This allows us to discuss the nature…
We study the existence of positive solutions for the following class of $(p,q)$-Laplacian coupled systems \[ \left\{ \begin{array}{lr} -Δ_{p} u+a(x)|u|^{p-2}u=f(u)+ αλ(x)|u|^{α-2}u|v|^β, & x\in\mathbb{R}^{N}, -Δ_{q} v+b(x)|v|^{q-2}v=g(v)+ βλ(x)|v|^{β-2}v|u|^α, & x\in\mathbb{R}^{N}, \end{array} \right. \] where $N\geq3$ and $1\leq p\leq q<N$. Here the coefficient $λ(x)$ of the coupling term is related with the potentials by the condition $|λ(x)|\leqδa(x)^{α/p}b(x)^{β/q}$ where $δ\in(0,1)$ and $α/p+β/q=1$. We deal with periodic and asymptotically periodic potentials. The nonlinear terms $f(s), \…
In this paper, we are going to show existence of branches of bifurcation for positive $W^{1,p}_{loc}(Ω)$-solutions for the very singular non-local $λ$-problem $$ -{\Big(\int_Ωg(x,u)dx\Big)^r}Δ_pu={λ} \Big(a(x)u^{-δ} + b(x)u^β\Big) \ \ \mbox{in} \ \ Ω, \ \ \ \ u > 0 \ \ \ \mbox{in} \ Ω\ \ \ \mbox{and} \ \ u=0 \ \ \mbox{on} \ \partial Ω, $$ where $Ω\subset \mathbb{R}^N $ is a smooth bounded domain, $δ>0$, $0 < β< p-1$, $a $ and $b$ are non-negative measurable functions and $g$ is a positive continuous function. Our approach is based on sub-supersolutions techniques, fixed point theory, in the st…
