The main result of this paper, Theorem 1.5, establishes a conjecture of Lyons and Peres: for a determinantal point process governed by a reproducing kernel, the system of kernels sampled at the particles of a random configuration is complete in the range of the kernel. A key step in the proof, Lemma 1.11, states that conditioning on the configuration in a subset preserves the determinantal property, and the main Lemma 1.12 is a new local property for kernels of conditional point processes. In Theorem 1.7 we prove the triviality of the tail sigma-algebra for determinantal point processes governed by self-adjoint kernels.
We prove the stochastic domination for determinantal processes associated with finite rank projection kernels. The result was first proved by Lyons in discrete setting. We avoid the machinery of matroids in order to obtain a proof that works in a general setting. We prove another result on the stochastic domination of two determinantal processes where the kernels are represented with respect to different measures. Combining this result with Lyons' theorem on the Stochastic domination we obtain a result on the stochastic domination for the last passage time in a directed last passage percolatio…
We extend Lyons's tree entropy theorem to general determinantal measures. As a byproduct we show that the sofic entropy of an invariant determinantal measure does not depend on the chosen sofic approximation.
We prove the Bernoulli property for determinantal point processes on $ \mathbb{R}^d $ with translation-invariant kernels. For the determinantal point processes on $ \mathbb{Z}^d $ with translation-invariant kernels, the Bernoulli property was proved by Lyons and Steif and Shirai and Takahashi. As its continuum version, we prove an isomorphism between the translation-invariant determinantal point processes on $ \mathbb{R}^d $ with translation-invariant kernels and homogeneous Poisson point processes. For this purpose, we also prove the Bernoulli property for the tree representations of the dete…
In this note, we show that determinantal point processes on the real line corresponding to de Branges spaces of entire functions are rigid in the sense of Ghosh-Peres and, under certain additional assumptions, quasi-invariant under the group of diffeomorphisms of the line with compact support.
A point process is said to be rigid if for any bounded domain in the phase space, the number of particles in the domain is almost surely determined by the restriction of the configuration to the complement of our bounded domain. The main result of this paper is that determinantal point processes with the Airy, the Bessel and the Gamma kernels are rigid. The proof follows the scheme of Ghosh [6], Ghosh and Peres [7]: the main step is the construction of a sequence of additive statistics with variance going to zero.
We study determinantal point processes on $\mathbb{C}$ induced by the reproducing kernels of generalized Fock spaces as well as those on the unit disc $\mathbb{D}$ induced by the reproducing kernels of generalized Bergman spaces. In the first case, we show that all reduced Palm measures $\textit{of the same order}$ are equivalent. The Radon-Nikodym derivatives are computed explicitly using regularized multiplicative functionals. We also show that these determinantal point processes are rigid in the sense of Ghosh and Peres, hence reduced Palm measures $\textit{of different orders}$ are singula…
Let $F$ be a non-discrete non-Archimedean local field. For any subset $S\subset F$ with finite Haar measure, there is a stationary determinantal point process on $F$ with correlation kernel $\widehat{\mathbb{1}}_S(x-y)$, where $\widehat{\mathbb{1}}_S$ is the Fourier transform of the indicator function $\mathbb{1}_S$. In this note, we give a geometrical condition on the subset $S$, such that the associated determinantal point process is rigid in the sense of Ghosh and Peres. Our geometrical condition is very different from the Euclidean case.
Given a sequence $(ξ_n)$ of standard i.i.d complex Gaussian random variables, Peres and Virág (in the paper ``Zeros of the i.i.d. Gaussian power series: a conformally invariant determinantal process'' {\it Acta Math.} (2005) 194, 1-35) discovered the striking fact that the zeros of the random power series $f(z) = \sum_{n=1}^\infty ξ_n z^{n-1}$ in the complex unit disc $\mathbb{D}$ constitute a determinantal point process. The study of the zeros of the general random series $f(z)$ where the restriction of independence is relaxed upon the random variables $(ξ_n)$ is an important open problem. Th…
For a locally finite point set $Λ\subset \mathbb{R}$, consider the collection of exponential functions given by $\mathcal{E}_Λ:= \{e^{i λx} : λ\in L \}$. We examine the question whether $\mathcal{E}_Λ$ spans the Hilbert space $L^2[-π,π]$, when $Λ$ is random. For several point processes of interest, this belongs to a certain critical case of the corresponding question for deterministic $Λ$, about which little is known. For $Λ$ the continuum sine kernel process, obtained as the bulk limit of GUE eigenvalues, we establish that $\mathcal{E}_Λ$ is indeed complete. We also answer an analogous questi…
We introduce the class of {\em strongly Rayleigh} probability measures by means of geometric properties of their generating polynomials that amount to the stability of the latter. This class covers important models such as determinantal measures (e.g. product measures, uniform random spanning tree measures) and distributions for symmetric exclusion processes. We show that strongly Rayleigh measures enjoy all virtues of negative dependence and we also prove a series of conjectures due to Liggett, Pemantle, and Wagner, respectively. Moreover, we extend Lyons' recent results on determinantal meas…
We prove that the dimension drop phenomenon holds for the harmonic measure associated to a transient random walk in a random environment (as defined by R. Lyons and R. Pemantle in 1992 and generalized by G. Faraud in 2011) on an infinite Galton-Watson tree without leaves. We use regeneration times and ergodic theory techniques from the work of R. Lyons, R. Pemantle and Y. Peres in 1996 to give an explicit construction of the invariant measure for the forward environment seen by the particule at exit times which is absolutely continuous with respect to the joint law of the tree and the path of …
In certain point processes, the configuration of points outside a bounded domain determines, with probability 1, certain statistical features of the points within the domain. This notion, called rigidity, was introduced in a work of Ghosh and Peres. In this paper, rigidity and the related notion of tolerance are examined systematically and point processes with rigidity of various degrees are introduced. Natural classes of point processes such as determinantal point processes, zero sets of Gaussian entire functions and perturbed lattices are examined from the point of view of rigidity, and gene…
Random spanning trees are among the most prominent determinantal point processes. We give four examples of random spanning trees on ladder-like graphs whose rungs form stationary renewal processes or regenerative processes of order two, respectively. Up to a trivial thinning with additional coin flips, for each of the first two examples the renewal processes exhaust the whole class of stationary regenerative (of order one) determinantal point processes. We also give an example of a regenerative process of order two that has no representation in terms of a random spanning tree. Our examples ill…
In 1981, J. Hawkes conjectured the exact form of the Hausdorff gauge function for the boundary of supercritical Galton-Watson trees under a certain assumption on the tail at the infinity of the total mass of the branching measure. Hawkes's conjecture has been proved by T. Watanabe in 2007 as well as other other precise results on fractal properties of the boundary of Galton-Watson trees. The goal of this paper is to provide an elementary proof of Hawkes's conjecture under a less restrictive assumption than in T. Watanabe's paper, by use of size-biased Galton-Watson trees introduced by Lyons, P…
