Permutation polynomials with few terms attracts researchers' interest in recent years due to their simple algebraic form and some additional extraordinary properties. In this paper, by analyzing the quadratic factors of a fifth-degree polynomial and a seventh-degree polynomial over the finite field $\mathbb{F}_{3^{2k}}$, two conjectures on permutation trinomials over $\mathbb{F}_{3^{2k}}$ proposed recently by Li, Qu, Li and Fu are settled, where $k$ is a positive integer.
Permutation trinomials over finite fields consititute an active research due to their simple algebraic form, additional extraordinary properties and their wide applications in many areas of science and engineering. In the present paper, six new classes of permutation trinomials over finite fields of even characteristic are constructed from six fractional polynomials. Further, three classes of permutation trinomials over finite fields of characteristic three are raised. Distinct from most of the known permutation trinomials which are with fixed exponents, our results are some general classes of…
In this paper, a class of permutation trinomials of Niho type over finite fields with even characteristic is further investigated. New permutation trinomials from Niho exponents are obtained from linear fractional polynomials over finite fields, and it is shown that the presented results are the generalizations of some earlier works.
The construction of permutation trinomials over finite fields attracts people's interest recently due to their simple form and some additional properties. Motivated by some results on the construction of permutation trinomials with Niho exponents, by constructing some new fractional polynomials that permute the set of the $(q+1)$-th roots of unity in $\mathbb F_{q^2}$, we present several classes of permutation trinomials with Niho exponents over $\mathbb F_{q^2}$, where $q=5^k$.
Motivated by recent results on the constructions of permutation polynomials with few terms over the finite field $\mathbb{F}_{2^n}$, where $n$ is a positive even integer, we focus on the construction of permutation trinomials over $\mathbb{F}_{2^n}$ from Niho exponents. As a consequence, several new classes of permutation trinomials over $\mathbb{F}_{2^n}$ are constructed from Niho exponents based on some subtle manipulation of solving equations with low degrees over finite fields.
Permutation polynomials have been a subject of study for a long time and have applications in many areas of science and engineering. However, only a small number of specific classes of permutation polynomials are described in the literature so far. In this paper we present a number of permutation trinomials over finite fields, which are of different forms.
Permutation polynomials over finite fields play important roles in finite fields theory. They also have wide applications in many areas of science and engineering such as coding theory, cryptography, combinatorial design, communication theory and so on. Permutation binomials and trinomials attract people's interest due to their simple algebraic form and additional extraordinary properties. In this paper, several new classes of permutation binomials and permutation trinomials are constructed. Some of these permutation polynomials are generalizations of known ones.
Permutation polynomials over finite fields are an interesting subject due to their important applications in the areas of mathematics and engineering. In this paper we investigate the trinomial $f(x)=x^{(p-1)q+1}+x^{pq}-x^{q+(p-1)}$ over the finite field $\mathbb{F}_{q^2}$, where $p$ is an odd prime and $q=p^k$ with $k$ being a positive integer. It is shown that when $p=3$ or $5$, $f(x)$ is a permutation trinomial of $\mathbb{F}_{q^2}$ if and only if $k$ is even. This property is also true for more general class of polynomials $g(x)=x^{(q+1)l+(p-1)q+1}+x^{(q+1)l+pq}-x^{(q+1)l+q+(p-1)}$, where …
Permutation polynomials over finite fields have wide applications in many areas of science and engineering. In this paper, we present six new classes of permutation trinomials over $\mathbb{F}_{2^n}$ which have explicit forms by determining the solutions of some equations.
In this paper, by analyzing the quadratic factors of an $11$-th degree polynomial over the finite field $\ftwon$, a conjecture on permutation trinomials over $\ftwon[x]$ proposed very recently by Deng and Zheng is settled, where $n=2m$ and $m$ is a positive integer with $\gcd(m,5)=1$.
Permutation polynomials over finite fields are an interesting and constantly active research subject of study for many years. They have important applications in areas of mathematics and engineering. In recent years, permutation binomials and permutation trinomials attract people's interests due to their simple algebraic forms. In this paper, by reversely using Tu's method for the characterization of permutation polynomials with exponents of Niho type, we propose a new method to construct permutation trinomials with coefficients 1. Moreover, we give the explicit compositional inverses of a cla…
Let $q$ be a power of a prime and $\mathbb{F}_q$ be a finite field with $q$ elements. In this paper, we propose four families of infinite classes of permutation trinomials having the form $cx-x^s + x^{qs}$ over $\mathbb{F}_{q^2}$, and investigate the relationship between this type of permutation polynomials with that of the form $(x^q-x+δ)^s+cx$. Based on this relation, many classes of permutation trinomials having the form $(x^q-x+δ)^s+cx$ without restriction on $δ$ over $\mathbb{F}_{q^2}$ are derived from known permutation trinomials having the form $cx-x^s + x^{qs}$.
Permutation polynomials over finite fields constitute an active research area and have applications in many areas of science and engineering. In this paper, four classes of monomial complete permutation polynomials and one class of trinomial complete permutation polynomials are presented, one of which confirms a conjecture proposed by Wu et al. (Sci. China Math., to appear. Doi: 10.1007/s11425-014-4964-2). Furthermore, we give two classes of trinomial permutation polynomials, and make some progress on a conjecture about the differential uniformity of power permutation polynomials proposed by B…
In this paper, several conjectures proposed in [2] are studied, involving the equivalence and duality of polycyclic codes associated with trinomials. According to the results, we give methods to construct isodual and self-dual polycyclic codes, and study the self-orthogonal and dual-containing polycyclic codes over F2.
Permutation polynomials over finite fields have been studied extensively recently due to their wide applications in cryptography, coding theory, communication theory, among others. Recently, several authors have studied permutation trinomials of the form $x^rh\left(x^{q-1}\right)$ over $\mathbb{F}_{q^2}$, where $q=2^k$, $h(x)=1+x^s+x^t$ and $r, s, t, k>0$ are integers. Their methods are essentially usage of a multiplicative version of AGW Criterion because they all transformed the problem of proving permutation polynomials over $\mathbb{F}_{q^2}$ into that of showing the corresponding fraction…
Polycyclic codes are a generalization of cyclic and constacyclic codes. Even though they have been known since 1972 and received some attention more recently, there have not been many studies on polycyclic codes. This paper presents an in-depth investigation of polycyclic codes associated with trinomials. Our results include a number of facts about trinomials, some properties of polycyclic codes, and many new quantum codes derived from polycyclic codes. We also state several conjectures about polynomials and polycyclic codes. Hence, we show useful features of polycyclic codes and present some …
We construct classes of permutation polynomials over F_{Q^2} by exhibiting classes of low-degree rational functions over F_{Q^2} which induce bijections on the set of (Q+1)-th roots of unity in F_{Q^2}. As a consequence, we prove two conjectures about permutation trinomials from a recent paper by Tu, Zeng, Hu and Li.
We give historical remarks related to arXiv:2112.14547 ("A New Method of Construction of Permutation Trinomials with Coefficients 1", by Guo et al.). In particular, we show that the "new" permutation polynomials in that paper are actually well known. In addition we give a simpler derivation of these permutation polynomials than had been given previously, which demonstrates the general method of producing permutation polynomials that was introduced in arXiv:1310.0776.
Linearized polynomials have attracted a lot of attention because of their applications in both geometric and algebraic areas. Let $q$ be a prime power, $n$ be a positive integer and $σ$ be a generator of $\mathrm{Gal}(\mathbb{F}_{q^n}\colon\mathbb{F}_q)$. In this paper we provide closed formulas for the coefficients of a $σ$-trinomial $f$ over $\mathbb{F}_{q^n}$ which ensure that the dimension of the kernel of $f$ equals its $σ$-degree, that is linearized polynomials with maximum kernel. As a consequence, we present explicit examples of linearized trinomials with maximum kernel and characteriz…
Very recently, Tu et al. presented a sufficient condition about $(a_1,a_2,a_3)$, see Theorem 1.1, such that $f(x) = x^{3\cdot 2^m} + a_1 x^{2^{m+1}+1}+ a_2 x^{2^m+2} + a_3 x^3$ is a class of permutation polynomials over $\gf_{2^{n}}$ with $n=2m$ and $m$ odd. In this present paper, we prove that the sufficient condition is also necessary.
Let $d$ be a positive integer and $x$ a real number. Let $A_{d, x}$ be a $d\times 2d$ matrix with its entries $$ a_{i,j}=\left\{ \begin{array}{ll} x\ \ & \mbox{for} \ 1\leqslant j\leqslant d+1-i, 1\ \ & \mbox{for} \ d+2-i\leqslant j\leqslant d+i, 0\ \ & \mbox{for} \ d+1+i\leqslant j\leqslant 2d. \end{array} \right. $$ Further, let $R_d$ be a set of sequences of integers as follows: $$R_d=\{(ρ_1, ρ_2,\ldots, ρ_d)|1\leqslant ρ_i\leqslant d+i, 1\leqslant i \leqslant d,\ \mbox{and}\ ρ_r\neq ρ_s\ \mbox{for}\ r\neq s\}.$$ and define $$Ω_d(x)=\sum_{ρ\in R_d}a_{1,ρ_1}a_{2, ρ_2}\ldots a_{d,ρ_d}.$$ In o…
