We analyze chiral restoration within the $O(N+1)/O(N)$ Non-Linear Sigma Model for large $N$ as an effective theory for low-energy QCD at finite temperature $T$. The free energy is constructed diagramatically to ${\cal O}(TM^3)$ in the pion mass expansion, which allows to derive the quark condensate and the scalar susceptibility in the chiral limit. At this order, we do not have to deal with renormalization, neither from divergences from mass tadpoles nor from those of higher order loop contributions. Our results for the critical behaviour are consistent with expectations from lattice analysis and with previous works where the susceptibility is saturated by the thermal $f_0(500)$ pole.
I discuss the masses of chiral partners in the context of chiral symmetry restoration at finite temperature. Using the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model I first remind the usual situation where two mesons of opposed parity become degenerate above the chiral transition temperature. Then I consider an effective theory for D mesons where the positive parity companion presents a "double pole structure". In this case three different masses need to be analyzed as functions of the temperature. I suggest a possible restoration pattern at high temperatures when the back-reaction of the quark condensate is incor…
We study thermal properties of a large-N massless pion gas using a low-energy QCD approach given by an $O(N +1)/O(N)$ Nonlinear Sigma Model. We build diagrammatically the associated finite free energy to $O(TM^{3})$ in the pion mass expansion through an effective vertex that considers all the contributions coming from closed diagrams. Subsequently, we calculate finite order parameters such as the quark condensate and its respective derivative, i.e., the scalar susceptibility, in the chiral limit, along with their associated critical exponents. These results are compared with our previous unita…
We discuss recent results regarding the interplay between chiral and $U(1)_A$ symmetry restoration, both from the point of view of Ward Identities relating meson susceptibilities and quark condensates, and from the behaviour of light meson resonances at finite temperature
In this work, we review how the mass and the width of the $f_{0}(500)$ pole behave in a regime where temperature is below the critical chiral transition value. This is attained by considering a large-$N$ $O(N + 1)/O(N)$ invariant Non-Linear Sigma Model (NLSM) such that we can study the dynamical generation of a $f_{0}(500)$ resonance. Introducing thermal effects via the imaginary time formalism allows us to study the behavior of the pole and relate it to chiral restoration.
We discuss our recent results regarding chiral and $U(1)_A$ restoration, both from the formal point of view of QCD Ward Identities (WI) and from an Effective Theory analysis provided by $U(3)$ Chiral Perturbation Theory (ChPT) at finite temperature. Our results lead to relevant conclusions regarding the behavior of chiral partners (in terms of susceptibilities) in the limit of exact restoration and provide useful results for lattice analysis. In addition, it helps to understand the temperature dependence of lattice screening masses in terms of quark condensate combinations. The U(3) ChPT calcu…
We review recent work on thermal resonances and their connection with chiral symmetry and $U(1)_A$ restoration within the QCD phase diagram. In particular, the $f_0(500)$ and $K_0^* (700)$ states generated from $ππ$ and $πK$ scattering within Unitarized Chiral Perturbation Theory (ChPT) at finite temperature allow one to describe scalar susceptibilities, which combined with Ward Identities yield interesting conclusions regarding the interplay between chiral and $U(1)_A$ restoration, key to understand the nature of the transition
Chiral symmetry restoration high in the hadron spectra is expected but it remains to be confirmed both in lattice QCD computations and in experiments. Recently, a theorem was derived, relating chiral symmetry restoration high in the hadron spectra to the spontaneous generation of the dynamical quark mass in QCD. We refine the theorem in the case of static-light mesons. Utilizing chiral quark model computations and lattice QCD results for the spectrum of mesons composed by a static antiquark and a light quark, we explore chiral symmetry restoration in the spectrum and the quark running mass m(k…
We review recent results on the role of light quark states within the QCD phase diagram. In particular, we will discuss how the combined use of theoretical techniques such as Effective Theories, Unitarization and Ward Identities helps to shed light on several important issues regarding chiral symmetry restoration, building bridges with recent lattice analyses. Special attention will be paid to the role of chiral and $U(1)_A$ partners in the interplay between those symmetries, which is crucial to properly understand the transition pattern. Light scalar mesons at finite temperature will be shown…
We discuss recent advances on QCD chiral symmetry restoration at finite temperature, within the theoretical framework of Effective Theories. $U(3)$ Ward Identities are derived between pseudoscalar susceptibilities and quark condensates, allowing to explain the behaviour of lattice meson screening masses. Unitarized interactions and the generated $f_0(500)$ thermal state are showed to play an essential role in the description of the transition through the scalar susceptibility
We consider the $O(N+1)/O(N)$ Non-Linear Sigma Model for large $N$ as an effective theory for low-energy QCD at finite temperature $T$, in the chiral limit. At $T=0$ this formulation provides a good description of scattering data in the scalar channel and generates dynamically the $f_0(500)$ pole, the pole position lying within experimental determinations. Previous $T=0$ results with this model are updated using newer analysis of pion scattering data. We calculate the pion scattering amplitude at finite $T$ and show that it satisfies exactly thermal unitarity, which had been assumed but not fo…
Considering a QCD chiral symmetry breaking model where the gap equation contains an effective confining propagator and a dressed gluon propagator with a dynamically generated mass, we verify that the chiral symmetry is restored for a large number of quarks $n_{f}\approx 7-13$. We discuss the uncertainty in the results, that is related to the determination of the string tension ($K_{F}$), appearing in the confining propagator, and the effective gluon mass ($m_{g}$) at large $n_{f}$.
We analize the role played by the thermal $f_0(500)$ state or $σ$ in chiral symmetry restoration. The temperature corrections to the spectral properties of that state are included in order to provide a better description of the scalar susceptibility $χ_S$ around the transition region. We use the Linear Sigma Model to establish the relation between $χ_S$ and the $σ$ propagator, which is used as a benchmark to test the approach where $χ_S$ is saturated by the $f_0(500)$ inverse self-energy. Within such saturation approach, a peak for $χ_S$ around the chiral transition is obtained when considerin…
