The R{é}nyi entropy is one of the important information measures that generalizes Shannon's entropy. The quantum R{é}nyi entropy has a fundamental role in quantum information theory, therefore, bounding this quantity is of vital importance. Another important quantity is R{é}nyi relative entropy on which R{é}nyi generalization of the conditional entropy, and mutual information are defined based. Thus, finding lower bound for R{é}nyi relative entropy is our goal in this paper. We use matrix inequalities to prove new bounds on the entropy of type $β$, R{é}nyi entropy.
It has been shown that the $α-z$ R{é}nyi relative entropy satisfies the Data Processing Inequality (DPI) for a certain range of $α$'s and $z$'s. Moreover, the range is completely characterized by Zhang in `20. We prove necessary and algebraically sufficient conditions to saturate the DPI for the $α-z$ R{é}nyi relative entropy whenever $1<α\leq 2$ and $\fracα{2}\leq z\leqα$. Moreover, these conditions coincide whenever $α=z$.
We derive an inequality for the linear entropy, that gives sharp bounds for all finite dimensional systems. The derivation is based on generalised Bloch decompositions and provides a strict improvement for the possible distribution of purities for all finite dimensional quantum states. It thus extends the widely used concept of entropy inequalities from the asymptotic to the finite regime, and should also find applications in entanglement detection and efficient experimental characterisations of quantum states.
Some new inequalities of Karamata type are established with a convex function in this paper. The methods of our proof allow us to obtain an extended version of the reverse of Jensen inequality given by Pe{\v} carić and Mićić. Applying the obtained results, we give reverses for information inequality (Shannon inequality) in different types, namely ratio type and difference type, under some conditions. Also, we provide interesting inequalities for von Neumann entropy and quantum Tsallis entropy which is a parametric extension of von Neumann entropy. The inequality for von Neumann entropy recover…
This thesis addresses the interplay between asymptotic hypothesis testing and entropy inequalities in quantum information theory. In the first part of the thesis we focus on hypothesis testing. We consider two main settings; one can either fix quantum states while optimizing over measurements or fix a measurement and evaluate its capability to discriminate by optimizing over states. In the former setting, we prove a composite quantum Stein's Lemma. We also discuss how this gives an operational interpretation to several quantities of interest. For the latter, we give the optimal asymptotic erro…
We investigate the relaxation to equilibrium of the solution of a class of one-dimensional linear Fokker--Planck type equations that have been recently considered in connection with the study of addiction phenomena in a system of individuals. The steady states of these equations belong to the class of generalized Gamma densities. As a by-product of the relaxation analysis, we prove new weighted Poincaré and logarithmic Sobolev type inequalities for this class of densities.
Trace inequalities are general techniques with many applications in quantum information theory, often replacing classical functional calculus in noncommutative settings. The physics of quantum field theory and holography, however, motivate entropy inequalities in type III von Neumann algebras that lack a semifinite trace. The Haagerup and Kosaki $L_p$ spaces enable re-expressing trace inequalities in non-tracial von Neumann algebras. In particular, we show this for the generalized Araki-Lieb-Thirring and Golden-Thompson inequalities from (Sutter, Berta \& Tomamichel 2017). Then, using the Haag…
In this paper, we investigate the relative operator entropies in the more general settings of C*-algebras, real C*-algebras and JC-algebras. We show that all the operator inequalities on relative operator entropies still hold in these broader settings. In addition, we improve the lower and upper bounds of the relative operator $(α, β)$-entropy established by Nikoufar which refined the bounds for the relative operator entropy obtained by Fujii and Kamei.
The celebrated holographic entanglement entropy triggered investigations on the connections between quantum information theory and quantum gravity. An important achievement is that we have gained more insights into the quantum states. It allows us to diagnose whether a given quantum state is a holographic state, a state whose bulk dual admits semiclassical geometrical description. The effective tool of this kind of diagnosis is holographic entropy cone (HEC), an entropy space bounded by holographic entropy inequalities allowed by the theory. To fix the HEC and to prove a given holographic entr…
